Finally, after weeks of torment I get to read Jax and I was not disappointed!!! Holy shitballs it was hot, hot, hot. Possibly not a good idea to read on the train, I was squirming all the way home!!
The characters were great and I really loved the dynamic between Amaranth and Jax...the history and the mystery added to the intrigue. I need more...so much more!!!
I won copy of this book (so thankful). Plus I'm a huge sucker for a rock star romance! This was a fast past read, nothing to dramatic...it had it's moments but otherwise it just flowed. Jax is our bad boy rocker & he's been in love with Amaranth since high school, he now has a second chance with her & he ain't letting it slip through his hands. He's possessive, demanding & hot! Amaranth is running away from a bad, bad situation & Jax is her only way home. She's got issues but nothing too serious, i think that she has secretly loved Jax forever too but just never admitted it. She's strong willed & determined. There were just a couple of reasons i didn't give this book 5 stars. 1. The connection between these two didn't quite seem to be there at times, sometimes u could feel it & then sometimes not. 2. I can't seem to get the hang of reading in the 3rd person, maybe that's why i didn't feel there connection because there was no inner-monologue. I love to read what the character is thinking & I love alternate POV. The other characters in this book were great, Kane was sweet & the voice of reason at times, Tess was a bit of a drama queen, Toby was cool but a bit soft. But all in all a really good read, i would definitely recommend!!!
I brought Jax during the release event many months ago for Cheryl Shephard and I have only just now read and finished the book......SO SLACK!!! My apologies Cheryl!!
Firstly I would like to say, was not expecting this to be such a kewl read. Its shortish, but not too short that it leaves you hanging, but short enough that, it's direct and reads well and HOLY WOW the erotic scenes in this baby are grab arse WOW!! There is no stuff arsing around with this read. It grabs you straight away.
The characters are strong, both male and female. It reads well with a good balance of goings on in the story. Just when you think it gets predictable, there's a new twist on the story. The story could have been very dark had Cherry decided to take it that way. I'm glad she didn't. It probably would have been quite saddistic had she done that. Overall its a good little winner this one, definitely can be added onto which I know Cherry is definitely onto! Thanks #SaucyCherry! Very enjoyable!!!
I am an avid fan of Cherry Shephard, and when she sent me an ARC of Jax to read and review for her, I thought I knew what I was getting into. How wrong I was. As soon as I read the first few chapters I knew Jax was going to be my favorite Cherry Shephard book to date. I kept thinking, damn, I don't want to put this down, I want to find out what happens. Jax is your typical rock god, sexy, long hair, and is just going to make the fan girls scream in delight. Amaranth is mysterious, and you just know she's hiding something. When Jax agrees to give her a ride home he sets a price. He has wanted Amaranth since high school, and this is just the opportunity he needs to fulfill his dreams, right? When things start going wrong and Amaranth won't tell him everything is going on, Jax is left with all of these mixed emotions. Will he ever figure out what is up with her? To find out I suggest you pick yourself up a copy of Jax right away! This unusual love story will keep you on your toes, and keep you wondering will Jax get Amaranth in the end?
Jax Hawthorne is a bass player for the world famous heavy metal band Manacle. He lives the life of a rock star to the fullest. Women flock to him and he rarely thinks twice about his life style of being a Rock God. Only one person has ever caught his full attention and that is Amaranth, his high school crush.
Six years later, Jax finds Amaranth. She is desperate and in need of a ride across the country. Jax is determined to use this time to get her out of his system once and for all, so he agrees to help her.
Little do they know how far Amaranth's past is determined with a vengeance to catch up with her. Jax is forced to make some tough decisions, but most importantly he must decide if he will be able to let Amaranth go.
This story keeps you on your toes from start to finish. You never know what will come next as the plot continues.
Jax has loved Amaranth Delancy since high school - unfortunately it has always been from afar - until now!!! Jax is now in a popular rock band, Manacle - a band at its peak! He's now a manwhore - but Amaranth is always on his mind. A chance meeting with her is about to change everything. His life is about to be turned upside down. Along with his friends and manager, Jax must save the only woman he has ever loved.... Cherry Shepherd has written a brilliant book to start her new series with. I virtually read this in one sitting because I just couldn't put it down. It has everything in it - tears, anger, friendship, secrets and of course love. BRAVO Cherry Shepherd!!!! Loved this story!!! Definitely worth 5***** Can't wAit for the next installment.
Oh my god this was hot sexy wicked and I didn't want it to stop, Jax a hot sexy male on the road with his band, after six years he comes across an old friend someone that he has always wanted more of a friendship with. Amaranth is running but from what or is she really, she bumps into Jax is it by accident or not she asks if she can get a ride back home with him and the band.
Finally he thinks this is a good idea he can set rules and hot wicked rules they are and hopefully get her out of his system.
I could not put this down there is heat passion sex wickedness and something else you have to read to find out what happens on this ride home, can't wait for more Cherry Shephard you had me hooked from start to finish and jeepers it was HOT!!!!
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I really wanted to love this book. I read the blurb for this book and could not wait to get started. I mean, who doesn't like a bad boy rocker! And the cover is pretty awesome.
Unfortunately, I just could not connect with the characters in the book. I wish there were more character development. It seemed there were so many things happening in the book that the characters were unable to fully develop, and some of it did not seem plausible. Some of the timelines were off where it felt like I was missing something. It did have some decent sex scenes, though.
I really wanted to like this book and I wish I could have given it 4+ stars but it just fell flat. I would try this author again.
Jax (Broken Strings #1) Cherry Shephard Hot rockstar Jax is the guitarist for Manacle with his best mate Kane and sexy lead singer Tessa. With their manager Toby they set around the country in a tour bus. Back in school Jax had a crush on a girl who never seemed to notice him, when Amaranth turns up in an unexpected club he wants those violet eyes to notice him and she does. She agrees to go on the bus to get a lift home but one catch, she has to be his until then. Can he trust Amaranth? Tessa certainly doesn't. Without spoilers all I can say is the twist is quite unexpected and very exciting. I loved Jax, and look forward to Tessa's story, Broken Strings #2
Okay well I really wanted to love this book, I read the blurb on it and it sounded awesome, as I was reading the book it just didn't flow the characters were not developed and they were so unbelievable to me it just seemed rushed. I could not connect with this book at all the scenes were so far fetched that i kept thinking i was missing something and would go back to make sure i wasn't. Some of the scenes were so out of the realm of being believable I just couldn't get past that. I gave it 3 stars because I think that the book had potential, I think maybe if the author had maybe added more detail in her back ground of the characters and story it could have definitely been a 4 star book.
This is the first book I've read by Cherry Shephard and I thoroughly enjoyed it..... Who doesn't enjoy stories about HOT ROCKSTARS....... We meet Jax Hawthorne, HOT SEXY bass player from the world famous heavy metal rock bank Manacle..... he has women throwing themselves at him all the time.... but he only ever has his eyes on one girl and that's Amaranth (interesting name) who he's known for years and been in love with since High School........... We follow the story of the two of them.... lots and lots of twists and turns.... I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will definitely be reading other Cherry Shephard books......
I liked the idea of this book. Rock Star Jax agrees to bring Amaranth, who he’s been infatuated with for six years, along for a ride across state lines, on one condition. She must submit to him in any way he requests during the five day journey.
There were some pretty steamy scenes in this book, which were well written. The characters were intriguing, the story just didn’t work for me. It didn’t flow very smoothly and jumped around a bit, with not much development. I feel like I didn’t really get to know the characters, especially Amaranth. I would still like to read the next book in this series to see where these characters end up and hope that the storyline is a bit stronger.
Jax was the first rock star romance I’ve read from Cherry Shephard. It was a very fast paced, rocking book. Jax is a very controlling rocker who has loved Amaranth for years! He has kept the flame for her going since high school, and when he happens to run into her again and she needs a favor…well, he definitely takes advantage! Not going to tell you much else, since I hate spoilers. Let's just leave it at...GO BUY THIS BOOK :) I really liked this book and give it a solid 4 STARS! Good job Mrs. Shephard! Can’t wait to read more of your work!!
**no spoilers*** I enjoyed this book but didn't love it. I really wanted to connect with the characters but was left wanting. It is easy to fall in love with Jax however we never really get to know Ammy. We get glimpses but she never really has a dialogue in the book. It was very hard for me to connect with her. I did enjoy that this book is in the male voice which is a nice change. Overall I liked the story but it wasn't memorable. It is just ok.
I was very excited to receive a copy of Jax. The book did not disappoint. I liked the description throughout and the character development. I was intrigued about Amaranth from the beginning and even once I finished the book, I wanted to know more about her story. Jax came across as a tough guy, but also had a tender side that was heart-warming. Their story kept me turning the pages and before I knew it, the end was upon me. This was a great read.
Sadly it was not for me. I love this type of book but there was a serious lack of character development and actual story content. There were several scenes that lacked believability and although this is fiction I like to be drawn in and get the feeling a story is real. I think it has potential but it didn't feel like I was getting a complete story.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review. This is an amazingly hot book!! Who doesn't love a book about a bad boy rocker!! Even though this was a short read, it was so good!! Love books by Cherry Shephard!!
