This book is totally different from EC's other books that I have read. I have read mainly books about her life, this book is about what happens to one woman when she dies. Opal Bloom was a violinist with a successful career who dies while in a Care facility. Opal has arthritis and has lost her husband and cat in the past. They had no children. She finds herself in Pleopyts which is also known as Purgatory. There souls have to complete a list of things they must learn to go to Heaven. Opal is guided by a Luthier and she picks out various instruments which help her to learn her lessons. Other souls have other guides that help them.
I did not want to stop reading this once I started but I became sleepy and decided to wait till the next day to finish reading. Since I know Elisa plays or has played the violin, it is understandable she would use that as Opal's profession. EC describes all the instruments extremely well. Since she has been facing death since her cancer diagnosis, it makes sense that she would wonder what happens after death. I hope others will read this book and enjoy it as much as I did.
