When my Seattle apartment burned down, I thought I’d hit rock bottom. Then I moved back to Millbrook… and landed in Jake Sullivan’s spare bedroom.
My ex…. my biggest what-if. And now the town’s unfairly sexy fire chief who looks like sin in uniform and pure trouble out of it.
He swears it’s just temporary. I swear I won’t fall for that cocky grin again. But between late-night coffee in his kitchen and that towel slipping low after his shower… Let's just say my self-control’s circling the drain.
He’s steady now. Grounded. The kind of man who rescues kittens and runs toward danger. And I’m supposed to be focusing on rebuilding my life, not imagining what his hands feel like under the sheets.
But every spark between us is catching faster than I can smother it. One kiss turns into the inferno I swore I’d never walk through again.
I came home to rebuild my life. But with Jake Sullivan back in it… It’s like I never left the fire.
I really wanted to love The Firefighters Second Chance. I usually devour second chance romances. Bonus points for being in a small town. As I was reading this book, it felt as if pieces were missing. It felt a little too fast pace and some things got lost in the process. I would have happily spent another hour or so more reading. I loved the characters Jake and Katie. Both were strong and resilient. Both learned from the past to grow stronger together, for a more confident future. I enjoyed the little bit of suspense and action, however it wasn't really resolved. I'm left wondering if there will be a second book and if the storyline will continue as the series progresses. I would have still liked a little bit of closure.
Overall, The Firefighers Second Chance was a fun read that was a bit too fast paced. I enjoyed the characters and the author's writing style. It just left me wanting more. Had it been a couple chapters longer, I think it would have been much better.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
What I am about to tell is 100% the honest truth and how I not only feel about Kenzi, but this romance story as well. You are not going to find a better book or author than this one right here. From the very beginning Katie and Jake had my full and undivided attention. When my heart wasn't pounding loudly in my ears and chest I was smiling. This romance story will make you day, week and even month just reading it.
