Sorry but this one was a miss for me. For one, I didn't care for the insta-lust. The sex scenes were hot but nothing compensates for the lack of a good story.
I've waited Zoey's story since the first time she and her sisters appeared in this series. She was the bravest among her sisters, not to mention how I was curious to death by where Nauti Enchantress left.
However, this story didn't begin with where it was left in the last book, not the first time happened with Nauti Girls series, though. A little disappointed at that, but the mystery of what exactly happened to Zoey kept me reading.
And I almost forgot who H was since it's been so long for me to read Nauti Temptress. Surprised to see him be with Zoey. But he was a good match to her, not as stubborn as her brothers-in-law. Esp when he didn't try to control her.
This was an intense read, and as usual, the chemistry between H and h was so hot, and the sex scenes, so HOT!
The only thing didn't sit well with me was the identity of the villain. I liked that I couldn't figure out who he was though.
If you loved to read Nauti series, you must read this book!
The suspense part of the storyline was pretty good but I’ll admit, I was tired of all the sex scenes. They felt like more of an afterthought to add length to the book than actually creating an emotional connection between Zoey and Doogan.
Eighth in the Nauti Boys overall erotic romantic suspense series and third in the sometimes erotic, sometimes not, spin-off series Nauti Girls with both series revolving around the family and friends of those original Nauti Boys: Rowdy, Dawg, and Natches. The couple focus is on Zoey Mackay and Chatham Doogan and set in Somerset, Kentucky. And yes, this is one of the erotic ones.
My Take Okay, I know how I missed this one. I haven’t been at all thrilled with Leigh’s Nauti Girls series with all its melodrama, so I haven’t been keeping track. This one is somewhat better than the others in the Nauti Girls spin-off, but not by much with its combination of over-the-top melodrama (I suspect it's using third person global subjective point-of-view that helps make it so overly overwrought). It's certainly a level of drama that makes no sense and is essentially used to frame all the sex.
I know. You're asking why I would read this when I'm so unimpressed. Mostly because I want to know what's happening with Rowdy's, Dawg's, and Natches' kids. Thank god I read fast, so I can get it over with.
The underlying emotional conflict throughout the Nauti Girls is Dawg’s overprotectiveness for his half-sisters combined with the slowly unveiling series arc of the matchmaking being done to marry the girls off to Homeland Security agents. The dramatic conflict keeps changing "focus" with each story, although it always centers around Homeland Security.
In this story, it’s Dawg’s concerns for the girls that make Leigh’s premise so totally out of the blue. Zoey’s too afraid to tell her big brother about her nightmare? She's afraid of what Natches will do? Gimme a break. Where has she been the last few years?
There are plots within plots, and it doesn’t help that Leigh has some torturous sentences that leave me feeling even more confused. One example is Graham’s comment about Catalina having a girl and not a boy and Doogan refusing to touch her again. Sounds like Doogan wanted a son and…?? That entire prologue with our reliving Zoey's attack with its focus on her having killed Harley was really confusing. If the intention was for the reader to feel as confused as Zoey…it worked. What was the reasoning why Zoey couldn't be assured of the truth? No, no, not what Leigh says, but what would make actual sense. Leigh goes on and on and on about Doogan not knowing if Harley's alive, and then we find out...well, you'll have to read it, I don't want to spoil it for you. But, it d-o-e-s n-o-t m-a-k-e sense. As for the number of characters who have traitorous spouses that have ruined them for any other…my god, it's an epidemic. Oy.
It's also annoying how Leigh suddenly drops all sorts of bits that someone in the story knew…but…no one else. I'm starting to wonder why it is so important that Homeland Security court the Mackay clan? Oh, I know Leigh claims they have a lot of influence with other "clans", but…really?? Why doesn’t Harley reveal himself to Zoey? Why does he continue to hide? Katie’s “dramatic” last words were pretty lame. Why keep the truth about his sister from Eli? It sounds like he’s hurting more for not knowing. Why does Collin have such a hate-on for the Mackays?
I dunno why I complain. It is consistent with Leigh’s style in this series.
I am envious of Zoey’s warehouse-as-home. Of course as an artist, the place is ideal for working — I do want those window walls and the skylights! And, of course, I gotta wonder how a “woman” this young can afford to do all that she does. And how she became so successful, so young, with her paintings.
The Story Her memories are coming back. Torturous, frightening, driving Zoey Mackay mad with fear.
Luckily for Zoe, her mystery man comes back. A man with power and the will to use it, Chatham Bromleagh Doogan is determined to make the men who drugged her and inflicted those memories pay for what they've done to Zoey.
But when the shadowy threat returns, will Zoey and Doogan have the strength to hold onto each other and survive the coming storm?
The Characters Zoey Mackay is the youngest half-sister to Dawg and quite the adrenaline junkie. Billy Ray and Jack Clay are stepbrothers and Zoey’s co-conspirators in her shenanigans. Lyrica is one of her three sisters and married to Graham “Brom” Brock with three-month-old twins (Nauti Enchantress, 7). Kyleene “Kye” Brock is Graham’s sister and Lyrica’s best friend. Timothy Cranston is in love with their mother, Mercedes. Eve and Piper are Zoey's other sisters.
Chatham Bromleah Doogan III is the DHS director of operations. He’d had a daughter, Katie. Her mother, Catalina, is dead. Regan Doogan Moore was Chatham's envious bastard brother. Chatham Doogan is his sixty-seven-year-old widowed father. Illandra “Illy” Doogan was his mother.
The extended Mackay family in Somerset, Kentucky The overprotective Dawg Mackay is married to Christa (Nauti Nights, 2). Lakin is their daughter. Chandler Mackay had been Dawg’s and Dawg’s half-sisters' father. Dayle Mackay and Nadine Mackay Grace were Chandler's siblings…and lovers. Natches, a Mackay cousin, is married to Chaya (Nauti Dreams, 3). Bliss is their daughter. Rowdy, another cousin, is married to Kelly (Nauti Boy, 1) and Annette is their fifteen-year-old daughter. They still run Mackay Marine Convenience. Ray (Rowdy’s dad) and Maria (Christa’s mother) are still married.
Shane Mayes is the son of Ezekiel “Zeke” and Rogue Mayes (Nauti Deceptions, 5); Erin is their daughter. John Walker is Rogue’s brother and married to Sierra (Nauti & Wild: "Nauti Kisses", 5.5). Lucas Mayes is a former SEAL and Zoey’s landlord.
Alex Jansen is Somerset's chief of police, and he’s married to Janey Mackay, Natches’ little sister (Nauti Intentions, 4). Erin is their daughter. Detective Samantha “Sam” Bryce is a friend of the Mackays. Mark and Tyrell were soldiers with Alex; now they run a private security firm in Virginia.
The twins, Seth and Saul August, are Navy SEALS (and Mackay cousins) living in California. Their parents are Cade and Marley August (Marly’s Choice, 1). Seems the August obsession with multiple partners is genetic.
Homeland Security is… …spending a heck of a lot of time in Kentucky. Elijah “Eli” Grant, Doogan’s angry brother-in-law, is the agent assigned to keep an eye on Zoey. Harley Perdue, aka, Harley Matthews, is an amazing tracker…and thought to be dead by a number of people. John David Bryce is the director of Homeland Security and Sam’s dad. Collin Westfield is the agent trying to arrest Zoey as part of his vendetta against the Mackays.
Tracker is the leader of a small band of mercenaries, and he and Grog were raised with Angel, Tracker’s second-in-command. Tigen, Black, and Forest are the leaders of the largest biker gangs using “Witchy” as the mediator between DHS and six of the biggest biker gangs in the nation.
Luther Jennings is Johnny Grace’s nutso son. (Dayle Mackay and his sister were Johnny’s parents.) Tom Rigsby is a former DHS interrogator.
Davis Caston is buying some of Zoey’s paintings. Dr. Jenkins is an OB/GYN. Stanley Kelly is a rather dull accountant in town.
The Cover and Title The cover doesn’t make me think Zoey at all. It’s not in character for Zoey to be in those red paisley-like mesh stockings with the high-heeled cut-out heels in black and red. Now, I can definitely see Zoey on her back with her legs kicking up and wearing that short black skirt…as long as she can ride her Harley in it. The background for the cover is a plain white with an info blurb at the top — the text is kept tightly confined within the left side of the cover. The author’s name is in a thin font in black with the title broken into two colors and font-styles. It’s a handy way to indicate the series information. The first part is in the same thin sans-serif while the second half is a seductive script in a greenish yellow with the tip of the capital “S” swirling into a floral design behind the words above it.
The title is how Doogan feels about Zoey, his Nauti Seductress.
This was a fine addition to the Nauti series, with a complex plot, interesting, likable characters and off the charts sex scenes.
Zoey McKay is the youngest of Dawg's sisters and the one most likely to leave Somerset for good if Dawg doesn't let up on his over-protectiveness. Especially when she connects with the one man guaranteed to make him intervene, Brom Doogan. But Doogan knows things about Zoey that no one else does-like the fact that someone has targeted her for destruction after injecting her with a hallucinogenic drug. He also knows he's beyond attracted to the little nuisance. When he first met her, he was married, but now he's free under horrific circumstances. Can he move past his emotional demons and really connect with Zoey-and still keep her safe?
Zoey was a kick-ass heroines, feisty, strong and funny. Doogan is yummy even though his connections to Homeland Security make him a bad risk.
Following the plot takes a bit of concentration but its very well done. The book could use a bit of editing, but overall was extremely readable, although it helps to have read the previous books to keep the characters straight. My only quibble is how many bad people can Somerset house when the town is already filled with McKays?
Hmmm...I'm sort of not sure what to think of think of this one. I loved how Zoey stood up to Natches and Dawg, loved that she knew just what to say to make them back down. In fact she often scared them silly with her threats, just what the guys needed for their over protectiveness that has gotten out of control.
I liked the romance between Zoey and Doogan, liked that Zoey seemed to get under Doogan's walls, causing him to mark his territory with her.
What I didn't care for was the whole who was after Zoey and the McKays. It seems like everyone and their brother has been after the McKays, no matter the generation. The one aspect I did like was the role that Zoey played, the one that she managed to hide from her family. I'm not sure what to think of the final action and what seems to have been revealed. I'll have to wait to the next book to see what I really think.
I really enjoyed this one. I liked it because of Doogan. His sexy alpha male ways make me melty. The story itself was okay. It was a little WTF. I mean, it seems like incest and bastards are the thing here. Zoey I really liked and her big reveal at the end was a little WTF for me too. I didn't see it coming.
I liked this story because of the hawt sex and Doogan. His back history tugged at my heart. I liked Zoey too, but I think that is more because I like her name. The last few chapters of the book now has me hooked and wanting desperately to read the next one with Angel in it.
This story is the typical overprotective crazy MacKay family. There are always conspiracies and backstabbing which comes out of left field. The drama surrounding this family is surreal. And it pulls me in because I just want to know what happens next. Still, it is a feel good book because of the tight family bonds. Makes me yearn for a family like this even if the men are all insanely overprotective. Recommended for romance readers who love kinky alpha men.
Zoey Mackay has been fighting nightmares of violence and blood which spurs her into learning how to defend herself but there’s one opponent that she can’t defend herself from in this thrilling romantic suspense. Every visit with the Mckay’s is a thrilling adventure with “nauti” bad boys and where it’s hard to tell who the bad guys are and just who the characters should trust and Zoey and Doogan’s story is certainly one that is full of questions that kept me on edge and the bad guy was one I sure didn’t see coming. Of course, I am looking forward to the next Nauti story, especially after the bomb that just landed in the Mckay’s laps.

Chatham Bromleagh Doogan swore to find the one who drugged Zoey and make them pay and the reader can’t help but get pulled into the emotionally gripping suspense as Zoey and Doogan try to hold on to each other and survive the storm when the shadowy threat returns. The chemistry and the sex scenes sizzle with scorching passion but the relationship is not only hampered by the Mckays but by Doogan’s personal demons keeping the emotional turbulence high during this relationship and the reader’s get emotionally caught up in all the emotions flowing from the pages. These strong, compelling characters capture the heart while demanding attention and the steady to fast paced plot keeps readers on the edge of their seat with suspense, excitement and romance.
The nightmares that Zoey suffers keeps expectations high as the reader becomes caught up in the intrigue of what happened and the excitement builds as the danger to Zoey escalates with unexpected twists and the number of characters involved keeping readers guessing throughout the story. The intriguing events draw the reader in while the well written scenes provide vivid details that make it easy for the reader to become absorbed in the story.

Nauti Seductress (Nauti #10/Nauti Girls #3) by Lora Leigh

My Review: I wasn't convinced at first that I was going to go for the story. The whole cover it up idea didn't win any points but the trauma seemed to be besides the point anyway so - moot. You can't deny the heat between Doogan and Zoey is there because the draw is undeniable (the sex is fantastic) Lora Leigh's Erotic/Mystery/Action thing is growing in intensity and in darker depths while her talent for passion continues to grow. Although the wish-washy trauma drama thing wasn't too convincing, I couldn't give up on Leighs ability to create tension and yet more fantastic stories for us Nauti fans.
I just finished Nauti Seductress and it was an ok read for me. This is Doogan and Zoey's story and this is all about the girls. I loved the the boys. Rowdy, Natches and Dawg, I've been kinda out with this it when it comes to the girls so without having read the first two I admit i was kinda lost. Doogan was hot and Zoey was a cool character, tough chick, but I couldn't get into it like I had done in the past with the Nauti boys. What I do love about Lora is her character development and what hot sex scenes she can come up with. It did have me panting, just wish I could have gotten into the story more
Great book love all her books. Can't wait to read the rest I am so glad that Doogan got a book I was rooting for him from the first time he appeared in one of the books in this series and I am glad he was going to be the man for Zoey she hasn't had a good life until after a bad night when someone drugged her she changed and went free and wild the past wants to come back but he must do what he has to protect her
I really love this series. I'm always happy when the next book is published. Wonderful characters and a good story line. Plus plenty of hot sex. The whole package. For my full review: http://romancingthereaders.blogspot.c...
Another great read in the Nauti Girls series! I love my cocky bad boys and Doogan was no exception! This is a steamy quick read that I didn't want to put down.
DNF at 50% in. The "chemistry" between H/h is not convincing in the slightest to me. And it's Insta-lust too, my least favorite trope. Confusing storyline.
Zoey was attacked and a drug used to make her believe she had killed. Doogan has been attracted to Zoey for many years but due to his own tragedy's didn't feel he could give her what she deserves. I didn't really feel like the title matched to story. Was great seeing past characters again. Was a good read, hot steamy sex but seemed disjointed at times. Maybe it was intentional due to what happened to Zoey.

With a name like Chatham Bromleagh Doogan, who wouldn't want to get busy with him? I mean come on, from the first time I heard this name, I've wanted his story and now here you have it courtesy of Zoey Mackay. I loved it! A hot, sexy story that I read in a day, which for this series, seems to be typical. This series has had me wanting more and I love it! I don't want this series to end.
Zoey was drugged and was told she killed one of her friends. Doogan is called in. Doogan has been trying to stay away from her since the first time he saw her. She is like a drug to him. Doogan and Zoey are sneaking around do her brother and cousins don't find out. When he decides she is better off without him, danger comes a calling. Will he still be there to save her?
OMG!!! What a cliffhanger! I've read the Nauti Boys series multiple times, but I held off on reading the Nauti Girls until I had all of the books & it was so worth the wait. I just started Nauti Angel & can't wait to see how this story plays out. Lora hit it out of the park once again!
This whole book read like there was a backstory that the author failed to share. It made the whole story seem irrelevant. The sex scenes were hot, but didn't compensate for the rest of the book.
