Gemma Weir is a half crazed stay at home mom to three kids, one man child and a hell hound. She has lived in the midlands, in the UK her whole life and has wanted to write a book since she was a child. Gemma has a ridiculously dirty mind and loves her book boyfriends to be big, tattooed alpha males. She's a reader first and foremost and she loves her romance to come with a happy ending and lots of sexy sex.
📌 MMC isn't a manwhore and its mentioned that he hasn't been with anyone in a while. But he does have a lot of experience and it is brought up a few times.
📌 Like all of Gemma Weir's books, MMC is a bulldozer in the relationship. FMC is extremely insecure and basically does whatever the MMC tells her to.
📌 Lots of Push and Pull: FMC doesn't feel worthy of the MMC and thus makes it hard for her to commit to him.
📌 Third-act Breakup: Due to miscommunication but only lasts a couple of hours (1-2 Chapters) (91%)
So Warrick is the last guy in the group and he's seen the talks witness everything sorta doesn't believe it. But when he meets Verity at the camp grounds he believes in it. He's sprung for his woman. And he tries to find her when she disappears. Verity is homeless she's living inside a tent in the woods and trying to get by and meets Warrick she tries to brush him off when he tries to ask her out she doesn't have time for that.
Plus who would want her? When Warrick finds out she's living in a tent he moves her in. Bossy and making sure she eats, rest and not worries about things but it's very hard for Verity to do that she thinks anything she touches or eats she'll have to pay back. So she always says she's not hungry. I think that was my pet peeve about Verity always turning down food. I get it but girl if you thought he was going to kick you out. eat allllll the foods.
They do have a small 3rd act break up because Verity says something that makes Warrick think something bad about himself so he does push her away. They both speak and work it out.
No ow/om drama, no cheating, secondary characters, drama, sexy times, virgin gal and sorta no manwhore

Very enjoyable book where the very disbelieving hero falls for the heroine, and learns the magic of the mountain is real. She is destitute and homeless, and struggling to make ends meet. However our resilient heroine keeps her head up- and meets the hero while being on a volunteering job. He is instantly taken, and slowly convinces her into moving in with him.
Unlike previous books where the hero coerces the heroine, the hero here respects her boundaries and the hero is very hesitant. Their relationship is slow and the trust slowly builds- their sex is consensual, there are many moments of angst and after loads of sweet and salty moments they reach their happy ending. Also the hero is very caring, while the heroine learns to accept his craziness about her.
Ahhh! Such a wonderful couple to end this series with, and I can't really be sad over the conclusion.
Warrick claims Verity in the same fashion as the others, so I settled in for this super steamy, OTT caveman behaviors, and tore through this in one sitting, so plan accordingly 😉.
So steamy, addictive, and engaging! I loved spending time with characters that already live rent-free in my head, and feel a binge is in order!!
I'm super excited for the next series planned from this talented and creative author, and recommend visiting her catalog of work for more entertaining storylines. Worth your time, IMO.
I cannot express how much I loved the first series, then the spin off which just kept getting better and better, and now... we get another spinoff!!!! Yes please!!! From what started as a family has turned into an entire world and I am here for it. Warrick was so dubious of the whole "curse" but he found his woman and fell hard, and had to admit he was wrong. Epic ending, great read. I absolutely devoured this and cannot wait to see what comes next.
What a read!! I had forgotten how much I love this series and of course the Barnetts! Warrick seems to be the last man standing but maybe not for long!! Verity finds her self in Rockpoint after an absolute catalogue of misfortunes, will this be her forever place? Holy moly!! I absolutely loved this!!! Go, one click it now!!
Perfect mix of alphahole and caring! Warrick is perfect for Verity & I love their insta love story. It’s so heart breaking at first but the found family trope is one of my faves. It’s a 3.5/5🌶️’s on the heat scale and an over all 4.5/5⭐️s for the vibes. It gives fast paced instant love with a man that calls his girl Amore Mio 😍🥰
I’ve been on the Barnett Crazy Train since book 1 of the Mountain Man series, so I knew what to expect going into this book. Warrick and Verity’s story absolutely lived up to my expectations!
As usual, I checked my feminism at the door for this one, but I feel like for the most part I didn’t have to! Warrick wasn’t the most over the top alphahole of the group (*cough* looking at you Huck *cough*) and his devotion to and adoration of Verity was more sweet than overbearing.
Verity was absolutely a joy to read too. Her struggles with feeling inadequate stemmed so much from her trauma and it felt like a realist way someone with that background might think and process, especially when faced with the utter intensity that is a man from Rockhead Point.
The only thing keeping this from being a full 5 star read for me was some of the consistency issues. For 13 books the town has been called Rockhead Point, yet for this one it’s Rockhead Peak. Im not sure if that was a choice the author made for Warrick in particular, or if it was an oversight somewhere in the editing process but it just sort of threw the story off a bit for me. Other than that and a few other minor story inconsistencies though, this was an exceptional addition to the Montana Mountain series and it made me fall in love with Gemma and her writing and this town all over again 💕
H: Warrick Meyer (35yrs old) Rockhead Point Fire Department h: Verity Sanders (20yrs old) I feel so bad for Verity and what she went throughout her life. Abandoned by her mom, her father being addicted to gambling, moved around and then leaving her once she turned 18yrs old, causing her to drop out of high school. She could only work being a stripper. Once she was forced to run away from the stripper job, having her car stolen, now homeless, Warrick found her and instantly he knew she was the one. This story is different in a way that he was patient with her, and I really liked that about him. Verity deserved to be pampered and being cared for, and that's exactly what she is got from Warrick.
I like the series, but I'm glad this is the last of the smoke jumpers' stories. As far as problematic goes, this is light compared to some of the other books. Definitely has an age gap trope and a creepy obsession with Verity being a virgin. 🙄😒.
I did like Warricks reaction to what Verity said about how she felt about paying for what Warrick offered her with her body. He was physically sickened by the idea of him doing that, even unknowingly. I am glad she got her job at the end, though. Her having a job will give her confidence and something to do other than wait around for Warrick to come home. I also love how Leo was introduced, and I am so ready for the next spin-off series.

Meh. Unfortunately, this feels mostly like a retread of parts of previous books, with little new story. It’s basically Alice/Missy/Henry redux, with very little character development. Warrick’s entire personality consists of “I’m Italian-American—can’t you tell? I say ‘amore mio’ 50,000 times in this book.” Verity is, as Gemma’s Mary Sues so often are these days, a step-and-repeat dress up doll.
Can someone explain to me why a landlord would evict a good tenant who has proven that she would not only pay the rent on time but could bring back rent up to date out of arrears? He wouldn’t. Hey Gemma, btw, that’s not how eviction works in the U.S. anyway.
Not sure why I didnt love this one as much as the others, its my second off last least favourite.
I do know him constsntly using the French phrase irritated me no ending no joke, its on virtually every other page, id have to end a relationship if my partner called me this.....ao annoying Gemma Weir...sorry just being honest.
I still read the book ridiculously quick because I love gemma weirs writing
looking forward to the next set of spin offs to try and then after than im assuming the next set of fire fighters :)
I liked Warrick. He was over the top but very sweet. I think I just couldn’t connect or like the fmc Verity, so even though I liked the story, she made it drag. Seriously, she was meh.
It was still a good read. It was easy to read. Spicy scenes were there. Just didn’t quite make it to 4 stars.
Warwick didn't think he needed love he thought he was happy and living on his own but then he bumped into Verity and he knew she was the one. This was an amazing book now I'm getting ready to read it again and again. 😊
The story of Verity Sanders and Warrick Meyers was a beautiful and exciting book! Two people from different backgrounds and up brings are fated to find each other! I loved this book. Can't wait for the next book! A must read!
Spicy ending to the series and I absolutely can't wait for the next montana instalment. This might have been honestly the tamest of them all. And lowkey the softest hearted which is quite funny considering the others and his physical description it was chefs kiss.
