Oops Baby

Oops Baby for the Mafia Boss

Rate this book
The silent, grumpy, bratva boss doesn’t know I’m having his baby.

It all starts when my rich, handsome boss catches me listening to an audiobook. My earbuds disconnect and he hears every second of a kissing scene.

I’d say, “kill me now”, but he could take that literally.

Instead, he makes me keep listening, and the book turns hot. Really hot. And… things happen. On a table. Without protection. With lots of kissing.

Now I have a dangerous secret. The scary mafia boss, who never speaks, put a baby in me.

Oops Baby for the Mafia Boss is a steamy and sweet instalove romance with an obsessed and possessive Bratva mafia boss who can’t tell his innocent girl that he loves her. Dual virgins and accidental pregnancy!

A multi-cast recording with Shane East and Evelyn Rose in duet with swoony British accents, and featuring Zara Hampton-Brown and John York.

This was actually… so cute??

🎧 The Premise

Emily starts her mornings early, coming into the office before anyone else so she can listen to her favorite fantasy-romance audiobooks in peace.

Then one day, her Bluetooth earbuds betray her. A very explicit scene echoes through the room just as Markov Lunacharski—the terrifying, silent Bratva Pakhan—steps into the doorway.

Instead of firing her, he tells her to… keep listening.

And just like that, a routine is born: shared audiobooks, lingering glances, and a connection that deepens until fiction and reality blur in a way neither of them can walk away from.

🖤 Markov & Emily

Markov stole the show for me.

On paper, he’s the classic scary mafia boss—tall, tattooed, ruthless, and a man of few words. In reality? He’s socially awkward, inexperienced, and completely undone by Emily. From the moment he notices her, she has his full attention.

“Is this how life is for other men? They feel? They yearn? They burn for a woman? All the fucking time? It's exhausting. It's exhilarating.
She's the best thing that's ever happened to me. […] In short, I haven't been this excited about anything since dinosaurs. And I didn't want to fuck dinosaurs.”

He’s a deeds-not-words man: reading ahead to plan their first time, building her a home library with a sliding ladder and listening nook (I melted 🥹)

Emily is just as lovable: book-obsessed and just trying to build a life for herself. Their relationship unfolds through soft moments: shared listening sessions, comfortable silence, and the simple joy of being together. Watching an emotionally closed-off man fall hard for a woman and her love of romantasy? I will never get tired of this.

“They say you should do what you love, then you'll never work a day in your life.
But since I couldn't find any openings for listening to fantasy romance audio-books, eating chocolate, and sipping tea, my only option is actually working.”

🦖 My Thoughts

Is it realistic? Not at all. This is very much vibes-over-realism: a background mafia plot, full-speed insta-love, and fast pacing—but somehow, it works.

What surprised me most was how soft this felt. This isn’t dark or gritty; it’s sweet, slightly unhinged, and full of yearning. The angst stays low, the tone stays light, and it’s incredibly easy to binge.

I experienced this one in audio, narrated by Shane East, Evelyn Rose, Zara Hampton-Brown, and John York, and it genuinely elevated the story. The full-cast duet narration, paired with British accents, added so much charm.

🍼 Final Take

Short, steamy, and unexpectedly wholesome. The kind of read you pick up “just for fun” and finish in one sitting.

Don’t judge a book by its cover/title because this SILLY NOVELLA SLAPS HARD! Just the insta love essentials & a besotted albeit non-verbal Pakhan 🖤🦕

“I’m more obsessed with you than I was with dinosaurs.”

Emilie is just a romance book girlie trying to survive in an admin job…for mafia firm. When her smutty book plays on speaker her Bratva boss is intrigued and they end up RECREATING A SMUTTY scene right there on the office desk *fully scandalized*

🦕 non-verbal & socially awkward Pakhan prone to killing

🦕 2 virgins & 1 pregnancy

🦕 he builds her a home library with 3 stories & a book nook

The story line is completely unrealistic & slightly unhinged but impeccably written. The characters were delightfully sweet & innocent but with a romantasy-inspired dirty mind.

This is not your typical mafia story. Though it has many of such elements like the big,bad kingpin who is ruthless or the bloody scenes, it felt anything but that. It was actually funny and hilarious and the way they "flirted" was unconventional. And yes I thought he was mute too, sorry Markov

Okay but this was actually fucking amazing.

I was definitely expecting something fine and decent but really, this book is probably one of the most wholesome short I've ever read lately.

The cringe is *chef's kiss*. The unhingedness is *chef's kiss*. The drama is *chef's kiss*.

The dinosaurs?? Fuck, sign me up and take my heart away already! *CHEF'S KISS*

If you want something fucking sweet interlaced with smutty bits? Then this is it. You won't be disappointed.

🎧 Audiobook Review: Oops Baby for the Mafia Boss (Oops Baby, #1)

Author: Evie Rose
Genre: Mafia Romance / Secret Baby / Age Gap
Narrators: Shane East, Evelyn Rose, and featuring Zara Hampton-Brown and John York.

📚 Plot & Characters

Emily’s life takes a sharp turn when she lands a job with the Mort Lake Mafia, finally earning enough to move out of her hypochondriac mother’s suffocating household. Her role is deceptively mundane—inputting dealer journal entries into spreadsheets—but the danger is ever-present. Everyone knows that Markov, the ruthless head of the Bratva, has zero tolerance for betrayal. Just last week, he executed someone in the reception hall, a chilling reminder of the stakes.

Emily hasn’t met Markov yet, but she carves out small joys in her routine. Her favorite indulgence? Romance audiobooks, which she sneaks in during the quiet mornings before the office fills. One day, her private escape collides with her dangerous reality: she looks up mid-chapter to find a tall, tattooed man watching her. It’s him—the Pakhan himself. To her horror, she realizes her audiobook is playing aloud instead of through her AirPods, broadcasting a steamy scene directly to the Bratva boss.

Markov, known for his silence, surprises her by speaking—and not to reprimand her. Instead, he tells her to keep the book on as the tension rises. Against all odds, they share the moment, listening together. For a man who has lived in violence since his teens, Emily’s presence is disarming. He finds her captivating, the prettiest woman he’s ever seen, and for the first time, he feels something resembling desire and connection. Their bond deepens over months of shared audiobooks, until one particularly heated chapter sparks a turning point in their relationship.

---

🌟 Highlights

• The dynamic of Markov falling hard and fast for Emily is irresistible. Watching a man who is otherwise emotionally detached—borderline sociopathic—be completely undone by her presence adds a delicious tension.
• Emily’s joy upon discovering her pregnancy is a refreshing twist. Instead of angst or hesitation, her happiness feels genuine and adds warmth to the darker mafia backdrop.

---

⤵️ Low Points

• The story feels truncated. At only 127 pages and under 3.5 hours in audio, the premise and characters deserved more breathing room.
• A significant plot hole lingers, one that risks undermining the narrative. Without spoiling, let’s just say the fact that Markov can only turn to one man to find what he lost stretches believability.
• Markov’s portrayal occasionally falters. For someone positioned as the head of a Bratva, his actions don’t always align with the authority and menace expected of that role.

---

🎙️ Narration

The audiobook boasts a multi-cast performance featuring Shane East, Evelyn Rose, Zara Hampton-Brown, and John York. The duet narration with fantastic British accents elevates the production, though not without flaws. Evelyn Rose’s accent is solid, but her tone grated on me—I prefer softer female voices, and hers felt sharp against the romantic backdrop. By contrast, Zara Hampton-Brown’s delivery (likely the female voice in Emily’s audiobook within the story) was far more appealing.

Shane East, however, is a standout. He remains one of my favorite British male narrators, bringing gravitas and charm to every line. The inclusion of four narrators adds richness and variety, raising the bar for this production even when individual voices don’t fully resonate.

---

💬 Final Thoughts

This audiobook blends mafia grit with unexpected tenderness, anchored by the unlikely bond between a ruthless Bratva boss and a romance-loving bookkeeper. The premise is unique, the chemistry undeniable, and the narration ambitious. Yet the brevity and plot inconsistencies hold it back from reaching its full potential. Still, for listeners who enjoy fast-falling heroes, mafia intrigue softened by romance, and the immersive quality of multi-cast narration, this is a quick but memorable listen.

This novella has its funny moments. The mafia boss is kinda autistic I guess and he refuses to talk and when he does he says the strangest things.

"I love you more than dinosaurs, If there is a dinosaur on the right and you on the left I'll only look at you" (that's because MMC is obsessed about dinosaurs since childhood)

FMC "What do you want the baby to be? a boy or a girl?" MMC"I want an alien?"
FMC "What?" He points to the grey image of the fetus on the ultra-sound screen "We're having that, an alien and I want it".

“Oops baby for the Mafia Boss” is the story of Emily and Markov.

Insta love romance between the big bad mafia boss and his sweet innocent secretary - they connect via game of throne books, have sex and there’s some baby drama with a happy ending.

I think this one had to be my favourite in the series (although WillaRoman are SO special to me), and it's because this book was so thorough.

I love how everything about this felt fleshed out, and that compared to the other two, it didn't immediately wrap up after the pregnancy reveal/ time jump. ER always delivers with her novellas 😫.

On that note, with the other two books, the rushed ending sort of defeated the whole point of the pregnancy trope to me(because let's be real, these novellas always end in pregnancy/kids in the future anyway). So I really liked how in this novella it felt very to the trope, and wasn't just mentioned but actually played out over time. This was the longest book in the series, and I feel like it really played off 🙂‍↕️.

I loved the dynamic between the MCs and how much fun they were as individual characters and together. I wasn't the biggest fan of the middle of the story (during the separation), because it was a bit too OTT/goofy for me (yes I know, who would've thought 😭), but it was still so fun.

All in all, I really liked this. I love the whole universe that ER has created, and I genuinely can't get enough of it (someone find me my own H who'll turn a ballroom into my own personal library with all my favourite books pls 😭🙏).

Super funny and sweet book. This man is utterly insane and I love it.

- Mafia
- Hero obsessed
- Dual V
- Age gap
- No owd/omd
- Surprise pregnancy

There is a three month gap where they are apart. They had just slept together when the h was fired, and had no way of contacting the H. The next day the H goes to find her, only to notice she’s gone. He doesn’t know how to get a hold of her, but gets every man and “mafia friends” to help him look for her.
- Both faithful during separation
- He does everything to find her

I don’t know how I feel about this one. On the one hand, it was cute and funny, and the way that man did everything to get her back and worshipped the ground she walked on was amazing! And that library he built for her?! That’s what all us bookworms want!

But I really wasn’t into the weird and icky dirty talk, and the way he chooses to never speak… I usually love the trope when there’s a reason behind it, but he just doesn’t like talking… he never speaks a word to her in the 3 months of them getting to know eachother, but ends up speaking to everyone else once she’s gone to get help in finding her. Idk that kind of got on my nerves, and he chooses to mostly speak when it’s for sex 🤦🏻‍♀️ that’s the one time he should NOT speak, because wow is he ever bad at it!

A short story were a shy young woman falls for her mute Mafia Boss. (Yup, a mute Mafia Boss Man 🤷‍♀️ who somewhat finds his voice later on but not quite)

It's a huge age gap (almost 20 years). Something which I don't even contemplate giving a chance but I was blindsided and by the time I knew the age difference I was already invested. Plus, for some reason, I didn't take these characters seriously.

It is insta love. Was very funny. Has a couple of villains-wanna-be.
The hacker and his love for torture didn't make sense in the book. It puzzled me more than it upped the suspense.

Funny that it also alludes to Beauty and the Beast in that she loves books and he builds her a beautiful library with a sliding ladder. (Said ladder becomes an active protagonist in a very steamy scene 🤭)

Markov and the rest of the Bratva bosses in town have a group chat called the London Maths Club 🤦‍♀️
👆 See why I couldn't take it seriously!.

Anyway, I really did enjoy it though. And with this book I finish my Fall/Winter Bingo 🎉🎉🎈🎈🎊🎊🍾🍾

I LOVE a book where they act out what’s happening in the audio book she’s listening to!
It’s a very fast-paced, easy read. I did find it very cringy but also kinda expected it 🤷🏼‍♀️

This is a Novella Erotica Mafia Romance, and this is part of the Oops Baby series. I have not read any of the other books in this series before picking up this book. I read this book by listening to the audiobook, and I did not love the narrators for this audiobook. I wanted more story-line, and I found the story just felt not put together. This book was mostly just steamy times and no real story-line developed. I did love the characters listening to audiobooks together and all the book talk. I wanted more. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.

Loved it!

I’m already a big fan of Evie Rose’s London Mafia Kingpin series so I slipped right into this one. This might actually be one of my favorites from that world!

I loved Malkov! He was such a different character than I’m used to. I assume he’s neurodivergent, he mentioned being socially awkward, but he basically doesn’t speak. Not that he CANT, he just doesn’t like to. He feels like he has trouble expressing himself to people. I’m pretty sure the first word he actually says in the book is her name and that’s when he was panicked to find her. He has to talk to people he normally never would, be willing to give up his territory and most of his money just to find her. When hearing certain things is important to Emily, he makes it happen to the best of his ability. He’s swoon worthy.

The book was actually really funny as well. The humor was a mixture of silly and dry. I really enjoyed it.

This book has certainly earned a place on my reread shelf.

Listen. This book is called Oops Baby for the Mafia Boss. How can you NOT read it?

Overall, I’d give it 3 stars. The premise is outrageous in the best way, and the steam level is definitely high—Evie Rose doesn’t hold back. But while the heat delivered, the emotional connection between the characters felt a little more surface-level than I prefer. I kept wanting just a bit more depth to really tie the romance together.

The audio cast was great, though. Shane East, Evelyn Rose, Zara Hampton-Brown, and John York all brought solid energy to the story and made the wild moments even more fun.

Thanks to Victory Editing and NetGalley for the ARC.

Unfortunately, this one was a miss for me. I enjoy a good insta-love trope, but Oops Baby for the Mafia Boss just didn’t work on multiple levels.

The characters felt disconnected and oddly written, which made it hard to invest in their relationship. I don’t mind spicy scenes at all, but the spice here leaned more toward uncomfortable than enjoyable — definitely not my preference. One of the biggest hurdles for me was the setup: both characters being virgins, including the mafia boss hero who is described as attractive, powerful, and experienced in every other part of his life. It felt unrealistic and pulled me out of the story.

There’s very little character development, and many moments came across as cringe rather than cute or romantic. If you prefer a fast-paced, spice-heavy read with minimal emotional depth, this might be your style. But for me, it was an absolute no.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
