Keep Forgetting, We're Not In Love

Rate this book
Nola thought she was ready to settle into her perfect forever with El’Reco, but an irreconcilable difference about their future shatters their plans days before the wedding. As Nola struggles with the fallout of her decision, El’Reco finds himself blindsided, questioning everything he thought he knew about love, commitment, and the woman he planned to spend his life with.

Despite the canceled wedding, Nola’s determined father insists on throwing the reception of a lifetime for closure, he says, but maybe something more. When Nola and El’Reco find themselves back in the same room surrounded by family, friends, and the remnants of what should have been their big day, they can’t avoid confronting the chemistry, heartbreak, and lingering hope still between them.

As the night unfolds, tensions rise, and laughter reminds them why they fell in love in the first place. But will one evening be enough to overcome the doubts that tore them apart? Heartfelt, funny, and unapologetically romantic, Keep Forgetting, We’re Not in Love is a story about second chances, the messy beauty of relationships, and the power of choosing love, even when it means rewriting the rules.

The story and the title was too cute. I enjoyed this quick second chance, Oh, I made a mistake love story/wedding story. You will see what I mean.

Keep Forgetting, We’re Not in Love really took me through it. One minute there’s a wedding on the calendar, the next minute everything is off because of one irreconcilable difference and that alone set the tone for how layered this story was about to be.

Watching Nola and El’Reco circle each other after calling off the wedding was uncomfortable in the most realistic way. The hurt, the confusion, the chemistry that never actually left all of it felt raw. Nola's dad said ohhh you don't want to cancel the contract. A party we shall have! Wild but also kind of brilliant. Being forced to sit in the middle of what should’ve been made them face everything they were trying to avoid.

There were moments of laughter, moments of heartbreak, moments where you could clearly see why they loved each other in the first place. But the biggest takeaway for me was this: love requires compromise, not sacrifice. That stayed with me after I closed the book. Choosing love doesn’t mean shrinking yourself or abandoning your future it means meeting each other where you are without losing who you are.

Messy, emotional and very real. Definitely a story that makes you think about what love actually asks of us.
