With the increase of trackers hunting them down, Eliam and his friends use the mysterious archway provided by Chen to continue moving around the island undetected. In the midst of all this, one Aristocrat decides he can no longer condone the slavery and control of island residents. He seeks answers in an area no one travels the Dark Forest, but when his spooked horse abandons him, he finds himself face to face with someone he never expected.

Meanwhile, back in Kumani, with the assistance of infiltrators, the Lowlanders were able to free Jessah and the other prisoners before the base was destroyed. However, in retaliation of this attack, the Revolutionists succeed in another abduction, the wife of one of the leaders. To ensure the continued safety of their captive, the Revolutionists demand a weekly tribute from all the Lowlanders. The leaders of the island scramble to find a way to free the woman and the other prisoners, but to do this, they must simultaneously shut down all the hidden bases across the island. With limited resources available, they wonder if all their efforts would be enough to end the assault on their island.
