ICU nurse and lifelong wanderer Luanna McGuire shares the stories that forged her hurricanes that rattled her windows, home invasions that sent the intruder running and codes that pushed medicine and miracles to their limits. She takes us along on assignments that felt like adventures, until they didn’t, and into quiet moments of healing when starting over was the only option. This is her true story; part nursing survival manual, part cross country comedy, part love letter to the people who never give up.
Luanna is truly an inspiration. I think We’ve all felt scared in moments, but it’s how you handle it and learn from experiences that make us brave. And Luanna is one brave mamajamba! The book is wonderfully written. I love the thought provoking questions at the end of each chapter. My book is covered in highlights, scribbled answers, stickers, and a lot of comments like “right on” & “you go girl” ! There’s also great advice that I will now be following as a woman who travels alone often. I also appreciate the breakdown of medical jargon. A joy to read and I will be recommending this book to all my friends and family. 💜
Such a great read! I had a hard time putting it down. If you like adventure, laughs, and some life reflection this is the book for you whether you are in the medical field or not! Engaging with reflection points at the end of each chapter. Also love that she goes into code status and the importance of what they mean at the end of the book, very good information for everyone to know.
Such a well written, laugh out loud, teary eyed, informative book! I absolutely loved it. Journeyed with the author through travel and adventure, haunted houses, hospitals and hurricanes. Definitely recommend!
This book was a great guide, for an adventure seeking person. I wish I was not in my eighties. I would love to take the risk of an adventure like this. T he book was also very informative. I also have met her mother. She is a fun loving person.
