One year after her daughter Emma vanishes, Elise Monroe still doesn’t sleep.
Her smart home records everything. Doors lock. Cameras pan on their own; microphones wake without a word. Lights flicker awake at 3:12 a.m.—unbidden.
Her psychologist husband, Greg, says she’s stressed. He smiles. He explains. He controls.
Then Emma’s friend Jenna disappears. The pattern returns—cold, precise. Detective Dana Hart notes overlaps. Elise follows deleted clips, a muddied necklace, a shredded diary.
The house seems to obey Greg, not her. It listens. It remembers. It lies.
Greg tightens the net—therapy “check-ins,” rewritten timelines, pills that fog the edges.
Elise doubts every memory. Is she unreliable—or being rewritten?
Then, secrets appear in plain a shed box labeled “Evidence,” an encrypted drive tied to Emma’s birthday, a basement room that shouldn’t exist.
Someone watches. Someone steers. And the man who says he loves her holds the map.
When the final lock clicks, will the truth free her—or bury her in her own house?
I felt confused from the start and remained that way throughout the entire story, as if I was missing something. The concept seemed to drag on, which didn’t help. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Don’t Go Alone hooked me from the first chapter and never let up. I loved how it blended domestic suspense with tech paranoia—smart locks, cameras, and apps meant to keep you safe slowly become the things you’re most afraid of. The main character’s insomnia and memory gaps had me constantly questioning what was real and who I could trust.
The tension in the cul-de-sac setting is fantastic. Everyone seems friendly on the surface, but every neighbour feels like they might be hiding something. The missing girls storyline is heartbreaking and gripping at the same time, and the way the clues were dropped—texts, footage, little details—made me feel like I was piecing the case together right alongside the heroine.
I thought I’d guessed the twist halfway through. I was wrong. The final reveal about who was pulling the strings actually made me go back and reread earlier chapters to catch all the hints I missed.
If you enjoy twisty psychological thrillers where you can’t trust anyone, including the narrator, Don’t Go Alone is a must-read.
Am I crazy, why am I certain that I must search for my missing Daughter. There are things my Husband says I have been doing, sleep walking, driving away from home in my vehicle, I have Bern sleep deprived since my daughter went missing. My husband thinks I am just going through a break down, convincing the neighbors, people at church, co-workers, doctors and family. Even the police don't believe me. This story will blow your mind as you walk through the life of Elise Monroe. What would you do to make yourself heard and believed. Is her husband part of her daughter's disappearance? For sure he can't be trusted since he is trying to make his wife look crazy. Elise will stop at nothing to find her daughter, in the mix of other girls that have also gone missing. Will someone at the Police Dept. find some credit to Elise's concerns and help her find her daughter and who may be behind all the disappearances. Thank you Book Sprout, Author, publisher for this read. Must read!
Oh..my..word!! This is an amazing book. Setting us up for portrayls, other worldly, with Greg acting weird, and seeing Emma (her daughter), who’s dead. Sending immediate chills, thrills and us trying to figure out what’s going on. An amazing “pull you in” right? YES!!!😁 If you have read a Skye Arden psychological/ thriller book before, you know what to expect. If not, BUCKLE UP BUTTER CUP, because you will in for a ride that goes left and right, leaving you with WHAAAATTT?! So as we start with Elsie feeling like she’s unraveling. She sees things that’s not suposto be there. And Greg telling her she sleep walks when she doesn’t remember if she does or not. She’s having trouble telling real from imagination. Somethings wrong with the house and Greg also. Eeee! Read on. LOVE!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.

It's rare I abandon a book, but I didn't make it to the end of this one. The strange structure, with short, staccato paragraphs and the incredible overuse of metaphor and simile made me unwilling to continue wading through the confusion to see if it got better. Seriously, on one page, I counted and the author never made it more than two sentences without a simile or metaphor. I made it 40% of the way through the book, and I still only figured out the timeline of Emma's disappearance from reviews here.
I'm a full-time student. If I want to have to reread passages multiple times and remain confused about what's going on, I have dense nursing texts for that.
Don't Go Alone, my first read from author Skye Arden. I enjoyed the outstanding suspense story-line with its intricately woven twists and turns. If you like Brett Monk & McKenna Langford or Norma (N.L.) Hinkens you might enjoy Skye Arden. I was given a complementary Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily reading & reviewing it. I look forward to reading more from this author with The House She Never Left A gripping psychological thriller already on my TBR list. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
At first I thought that I skipped book 1 in a series because it started as if it was the middle of a book not the beginning. I was so confused throughout the book, because there was no context, I really had no idea what was going on. Also this book is written in short staccato sentences, it was very annoying but I struggled through it because I just hate to leave a book without reading it to the end and I had to know what it was about. Well, I get the gist of it but no clarity, it was just missing too much for me to really get it. Very disappointed
It's been one year since Elise's daughter Emma vanished and Elise never sleeps. Her husband Greg, a psychologist, says she is just stressed and needs to relax. However the house seems to obey only him. Then Elise's friend Jenna disappears. Memories start to merge and pills seem to make Elise fuzzy. What memories are real? Who can Elise trust? Does Greg actually love her or is he a killer? Sends chills down the reader's back. Couldn't put it down until I knew the ending. Fabulous!.

This is a very good book that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Elise's daughter disappears and still has not been found a year later. Husband Greg has programmed the smart house to do everything, except it seems, listen to Elise. It seems as if it is against her and wants to keep her prisioner.
This book grabs you and draws you in with the very first page.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary ARC provided by Bookfunnel.
Enjoy a really good thriller that keeps you hooked and turning the pages until the end of the story. These books that have these twisted people but seemingly normal is interesting to follow along as the other characters are starting to learn what they are really like. The twisted aspects of the story are so interesting to read and books like this are hard to put down. Good read.

If you want psychological thriller, this is it. Elise thinks she is losing it after her daughter vanished a year ago. Things are moved or changed in the house. Everything looks like her husband Greg is doing it to her. I just wanted to smack him. “You just forgot”….he says. Ya right. He’s the problem. I couldn’t stop reading right from the start of the book.
When you think your marriage is good, but something seems off with your memory. Your daughter suddenly seems withdrawn and jumpy. Your husband keeps telling you that you are stressed. Nothing seems normal. Then your daughter disappears. What in the world is going on?
I loved the plot but there were a lot of short sentences and long unnecessary descriptions of things. I found myself skipping short paragraphs or sections as it was not enough "meat". The words breath, breathing and breathe was used too many time through the entire read as well.
After reading 3 prior books from the author and none of them resonating with me, I thought I’d give this one a try. Fourth time’s a charm!!!! Great book!!!!! You definitely have to pay attention in order to not miss anything. Would definitely recommend!
This book literally has more twists to it than a rollercoaster and at times after reading certain chapters you'll feel as if you just got off of one it's gripping and full of suspense. This author did a bang up job at keeping her readers riding the edge of their seat.
Elise feels she is losing her mind and her husband is initiating it. Strange happenings occurring that Elsie knows she did not do. Their daughter went missing and her husband Greg claims that is the reason for it. All is not what it seems.
Two girls, Jenna and Emma go missing. Jenna returns with the horror only starting. A whole town and all the people are involved knowingly and obviously. Twists, spying, brain jarring storyline. Fast paced, well developed storyline, and written with a solid story.
