Nadya The list of things I'd rather do than spend a single minute in Konstantin Lavrov's company is both long and extensive. But what I want is the last thing on his mind.
He's already leveraging the only thing I care about so he can force me to marry him, take his name, and drag me into his criminal empire. But no matter what he does, he can’t make me love him.
Even if he takes everything else, he can't take my pride.
Konstantin The first time I met Nadya, she managed to tame the beast clawing under my skin with just a glance. She managed to bring me a sense of peace unlike anything I’ve ever known without saying a word.
She can fight me all she wants, but she’s still mine. And now that I have her, I’m not letting go. Even if I have to fight dirty.
If this book has taught me ANYTHING…it’s that I would make the world’s worst feminist. Konstantin had me swooning with all his red flag moves: arranged marriage, strict security, switching out her birth control. Gah!
But let’s back up…..we last met Konstantin and Nadya in the 2nd book. As part of assisting Alexei to gain the role as the boss in Chicago, Konstantin asks for his sister’s hand in marriage. And while there is attraction on both sides; it is also clear that there is more to this marriage that meets the eye.
Nadya is looking for freedom. She has cared for her brother since her parents left. She’s been the care giver. If this is what she needs to do to give her freedom in knowing her brother is safe, she’s going to do it. Konstantin is the leader of the Bratva in California. He’s constantly in his own head. It’s loud. It’s overwhelming. But from the moment he met Nadya; it’s been quieter. He knew he needed her in his life.
I do wish they were better at communicating with each other. There was a lot of cycling of her getting mad, him not saying the words but using his body, being ok….and repeat. It got a tad frustrating.
I will say I was SHOCKED by who the villain (or villain assistant) was. I was totally tracking another person and that came out of left field. Pleasantly surprised there.
All to say; I really, really liked this series. I’m kinda sad it’s over.
Konstantin is completely obsessed with Nadya, and he doesn’t try to hide it for a second. He shows up wherever she is, especially at the wedding, never really giving her space to just exist on her own. The things he gives her, the way he withholds information, it all feels very intentional… like he’s making sure she stays tied to him no matter what.
Nadya, at least at first, wants nothing to do with him. She resists him in every way she can. But the longer they’re around each other, the harder that becomes. You can feel her wanting him more and more, even as she tries to hide it from him and everyone else. A lot of that comes from her need to protect herself, which makes her pull back even when she’s already halfway gone for him.
It creates this really interesting dynamic where, in public, they seem unstable, almost like they’re always one step away from falling apart. But in private, they just work. When things get rough, she knows he’s the one who can ground her, and that tension between resisting him and not being able to fully deny how she feels is what makes their push and pull so compelling.
The side characters added so much to the story too. Konstantin’s brother, Viktor, and Vasily both stood out in different ways. Vasily felt like exactly what Nadya needed, someone she could lean on when she felt completely alone. And Viktor had that classic brother energy. Loyal to his Pakhan, but not afraid to speak up when it mattered.
The relationship between Konstantin and Nadya makes this a fun read on its own, but everything else happening around them takes it to another level. There’s devotion, spice, an alpha hero, violence, and just enough chaos to keep things constantly moving. It all comes together into a story that’s intense, addictive, and hard to put down. I received this as an ARC and am leaving this honest review voluntarily.
Because there isn't a line too far to cross if it means having you in my life, however that happens.
ARC Review What would you do if your freedom was stripped away… and the only way to protect the person you love most was to marry a man you hate? Impenitent Ties, the third installment in the Splintered Empire series, throws readers into a dark, high-stakes world where love and power collide in dangerous ways. The story follows Nadya, a fiercely independent woman who refuses to be broken—even when she’s forced into an arranged marriage with Konstantin Lavrov, a powerful and ruthless figure in the Bratva. Nadya despises everything he represents, and no matter how much control he tries to exert over her life, she clings tightly to her pride. Konstantin, on the other hand, is captivated by Nadya from the very beginning. Beneath his cold, morally gray exterior is a man who sees something in her no one else does—and he’s determined to keep her, no matter the cost. His methods? Manipulative, intense, and undeniably dangerous. Their relationship is a constant push and pull—full of tension, power struggles, and emotional conflict. The “only one bed” trope and forced proximity amplify their chemistry, while the age gap and arranged marriage add layers of complexity to their dynamic. If you enjoy dark romance with: * morally gray characters * enemies-to-lovers tension * high emotional stakes * and a deep dive into a dangerous criminal underworld then this book will definitely keep you hooked. Impenitent Ties isn’t just a romance—it’s a battle of wills. And in this world, love isn’t soft… it’s something you fight for.
I Don’t Like Arranged Marriage Tropes… But This One Changed My Mind
I’ll be honest… I’m usually not a fan of arranged marriage tropes. They can feel forced or predictable, and I wasn’t sure how I’d connect with this one at first. But somehow, this story completely changed my mind.
Nadya is everything I love in a female main character. She’s strong, fierce, and refuses to let anything break her spirit. Even when everything is being taken from her, she holds onto her pride and sense of self in a way that makes you root for her the entire time. She doesn’t just survive… she stands her ground, and I loved that about her.
And Konstantin… wow. He is that man. The kind who makes you feel safe, protected, and completely claimed in the best way. The type who would burn the world down for the woman he loves without hesitation. Yes, he’s intense and morally gray, but underneath all of that is someone who chooses her over and over again, and that’s what got me.
What I didn’t expect was how much I’d end up loving them together. Their dynamic is powerful — it’s tension, control, resistance, but also this undeniable pull that keeps bringing them back to each other. Watching their relationship evolve from something forced into something deeper and real was so satisfying.
This book is dark, emotional, and addictive in the best way. If you’re hesitant about arranged marriage stories like I was… this one might just change your mind too.
This is a gritty, dark mafia romance that doesn't shy away from violence or explicit content. The plot is well structured, and the writing style is fluid and easy to read. This is story with: age gap (he is 41, she is 28), violence, colorful language, and forced pregnancy. This is not as dark as it could be, but check your triggers before reading.
Konstantin is a true Russian mafia Pakhan (Don)—ruthless, cruel, and radiating pure "alpha" energy. He has an obsession with Nadya, who brings sunshine into his dark world. His devotion is so intense he’d burn the whole city to ashes for her.
Nadya, on the other hand, enters this marriage of convenience driven by the need to protect her brother. However, her character felt like a contradiction. While she theoretically understands the Bratva world, her internal monologue and actions often skewed closer to an eighteen-year-old’s maturity level.
Overall, this is a very well written and interesting story. It is brutal, steamy, and perfect for fans of dark mafia romance who enjoy a truly obsessive anti-hero.
This was my first time reading Erin Robinson, and I really enjoyed her writing style—it flowed smoothly and hooked me right from the start.
I really liked the main characters, Nadya and Konstantin. Their chemistry is strongest when they’re actually communicating, and those moments felt authentic and engaging. Nadya is independent and stubborn, with just a wee bit of moaniness that made her feel real and annoying. Konstantin is your classic Pakhan—stubborn, domineering, and emotionally closed off… until he meets Nadya. She has a calming effect which brings out a softer side to him.
Kostya, red flags and all, completely won me over. There’s a vulnerability to him that really hit, and honestly—who doesn’t love a man who is OTT, obsessive, protective, and gives off those “look at her and die” vibes?
The side characters were interesting, but I would have liked more interaction between them.
My only real critique is the pacing when it came to Nadya and Konstantin admitting their feelings—it dragged on a bit longer than needed.
Impenitent Ties ( Splintered Empire Series Book 3 ) Dark , Steamy, Delicious and Utterly Addictive. Oh my gosh guys . No words can even start to describe to crazy and emotionally charged ride I was just taken on . Konstantin and Nadya . I loved these two together so freaking much. I loved the progression of their relationship and all the differences between them , the layers and the complexities. I most definitely was not prepared not at all for how 100% invested I became, for how everything both went through touched my heart and resonated with me on so many levels. The insane chemistry, the push and pull , how possessive , obsessive and protective Konstantin was and became over Nadya . I loved how Nadya made him work for everything, how in the beginning she didn’t want anything to do with him - but did that stop him ? Nope , not at all . I loved how even during the most difficult of times they became each others safe place , they grounded each other in most beautiful and touching of ways . This book , this whole series is perfection just absolute perfection
The way that i am obsessed with this novel needs to be studied because holy guacamole. Its very much an instant connection type and I gobbled it up without leaving crumbs behind. Nadya and Konstantin has become one of my favourite couples and im completely and utterly in love with them. Special shout to Viktor and Vasily because I also love them.
I absolutely loved how independent Nadya is however some people can see how it can be a little irritating. But hear me out okay, the woman had to grow up way too young to help care for her brother and never once had she needed to look over her shoulder. Then to be basically shoved into a world where you have to question everyone is tough. I found it to be a realistic look on how ones life can change in a heartbeat and how Nadya navigated that was incredibly strong. Konstantins obsession with Nadya holds no boundaries but the way he is with her makes my heart clench (in a good way)
Overall, this was an absolute beautiful read and i would definitely be rereading it in the future as I am really struggling to let the couple go.
Impenitent Ties is the third book of the Splintered Empire series. In this book we meet Konstantin and Nadya who are set to be married in an arranged marriage. We see that Konstantin will do anything to have Nadya for him it's love at first sight, as for Nadya it takes a while for her to develop feeling for Konstantin. Now I firmly believe it took so long for Nadya to fall for Konstantin because he lacks social awareness and constantly oversteps with Nadya. He is definitely his own worse enemy when it comes to Nadya! I love Nadya's fiery spirit, strong will and independence! I love how she stands up for herself and keeps him on his toes. Now there are some dynamics to their relationship that did make me cringe so please be aware there are some triggers here, Konstantin can be a bit of a mafia boss red flag! But in the end when push comes to shove Konstantin will move heaven and earth to protect Nadya
★ ”He isn’t a good person, but he’s the best man I know.” ★
Becoming Konstatin’s wife through an arranged marriage was the only thing Katya could do, to prevent her little brother from feeling as if she, too, had abandoned him, much like their parents had done to these siblings.
Thirteen years after stepping into his father’s shoes, Konstatin’s developing depth of feeling for his new wife proves something the mafia kingpin is loathe to reveal: “I may never be able to win her love, but I can keep her by my side.”
Good mafia action and suspense! Looking forward to reading more from this Splintered Empire series and from this author in the future!
💝🫶🏼 Please mind your triggers before diving in 🫶🏼💝
ARC reader here! I’ve been waiting for Nadya’s story since I read Alexei’s and I can honestly say that I was NOT disappointed! Nadya is a badass and so fiery and fierce. I love her. She really never gave anyone a break. She put up so many walls that it hurt, but seeing them come down was amazing. Finding words to describe Konstantin isn’t easy. Seeng him through everyone else’s eyes was tough. He put up a lot of walls. Letting people see him, truly, wasn’t easy. It was clear how much he loved and cared for Nadya. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for her. The tension between these two ran high and hot! Absolutely love them and their little family.
This is a dark romance I didn’t know I needed… until I did. And thank Ilya I did.
For Konstantin, it was love (and obsession) at first sight. And once he finally had her, there was no letting go. His love is intense, all-consuming, the kind that would burn the world for her… yet there’s also something fragile about him, especially when it comes to her safety. It’s impossible not to love him.
Nadya was ready to sacrifice herself, to marry the devil if she had to. But she quickly realizes the man she married would kill for her. And honestly? That’s love.
This book had me hooked from beginning to end. It’s that good.
Book 3 of the Splintered Empire series. Can be read as a standalone.
'She can fight me all she wants, but she’s still mine. And now that I have her, I’m not letting go. Even if I have to fight dirty. Good thing dirty is my specialty.'
The characters were very complex and compelling and complicated and perfectly steamy together. Plot was intriguing and intense and well paced. World building was excellent and solidly drawn. Another great addition to the series. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend!

grateful to have received my second one in this series as an arc! long story short, a gripping and entertaining sick day read in bed book. i was more riveted by this story than the last one, which is a shock for me since i don’t normally do mafia romances. the torturing scenes and the birth control manipulation did dock me from giving this five stars (the trigger warnings were helpful and appreciated, but they just sit weird with me), but everything else was phenomenal, especially the he fell first part of it all!!

Konstantin and Nadya were quite the pair. The forced marriage, the push and pull. Her independence was fierce, and I loved that about her. His obsession was wild, but the fact that he was such a good man underneath all of it, was intriguing. I loved their dynamic, and the way their relationship slowly formed until it became so much more. The twists and turns were perfect. Kept me reading, wanting to know more. I loved this story. Loved them.
Mutual pining is absolute gold and this book has the midas touch.
I love me some traumatized MC's as well as a "I'm only soft for you" MMC. Konstantin feels unworthy of genuine love and affection but will seize the opportunity to keep a little peace in the form of Nadya, the only person that makes all the noise quiet; even though she will never love the monster he portrays himself to be.
Both MC's are protective for their own. Nadya sacrificed her own life and happiness in Chicago to make sure her brother will be safe. This book was an emotional slow burn that just kept breaking my heart and putting it back together.
I will definitely be reading the first two books in the series that delve into the side characters romances.
I was gifted an ARC copy. I really enjoyed the story- I hadn’t read the previous stories in the series yet, but Erin did such a great job that I could jump right into the world of Nadya and Konstantin and not feel completely lost.
It was a great fast paced, high stakes mafia romance with lots of spice. It was a fun read to escape from the world for a little bit.
A Bratva boss may claim her in a ruthless deal, but she refuses to break. Forced into his world, she fights him at every turn, until obsession, danger, and bloodshed blur the lines between control and love.
Brutal, addictive, and dripping with “touch her and die” energy. This one delivers chaos and a hard-earned love.
WONDERFUL! I had a very hard time putting this book down once I started reading it. A fantastic dark mafia romance! The characters pull you right in and keep you there until it is late into the evening. Highly recommend!! LOVED it!!.

This book was an okay read, I enjoyed certain parts of this book, but the FMC was annoying me and I felt like certain parts in the fmc's inner monologue was repetitve. The tropes are what I enjoy as well.
This is the third book in the Splintered Empire series. It’s a very good, dark romance. Nadya and Konstantin‘s story was engaging, slow burn that kept me turning pages! Very well written and entertaining. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Such a great mafia romance! Arranged marriage, he falls first, and falls hard. Konstantin may be over barring but he has a huge heart and will do whatever Nadya wants. I love that he will meet her where she is at and doesn’t push her to be anything that she isn’t.
Nayda & Konstya were utterly perfection. The love he had for his wife is obsessive l, dark and all consuming. I adored their story, I am sucker for a Mafia romance read and thus had everything from the intense plot with kidnapping of his wife to references of crime. I wish I could read it again for the fust time all over again! The writing style was so beautifully written and easy to follow along! 🖤
