Stumbling into early retirement after a grueling divorce and her daughter's unplanned pregnancy, Shelli Peck decides to embark on a 500-mile pilgrimage to rid herself of the guilt and regret of her past and search for something to propel her into the next phase of her life.
Over the course of the long journey, she uncovers the magic of the Camino de Santiago.
YELLOW ARROWS is the raw and gritty, unflinchingly honest story of the journey — from the first brutal climb over the Pyrenees to the tears at the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela. Along the pilgrims who become family, blisters that wreak havoc, and the slow work of making peace with a grueling divorce, a complicated family, and her own past.
For anyone who has ever wanted to start over — and for every pilgrim dreaming of the Way.

SHELLI PECK built a four-decade career in software development, which began in the USAF. From an early age she had ambitions to become a writer and to travel the world. After she retired, she walked the Camino De Santiago and captured the journey in her book YELLOW ARROWS.
Shelli resides in Copper Dollar Cove outside Omaha, Nebraska and continues to find new adventures to challenge her and enhance her writing.
If you’ve walked the Camino Santiago, then you’ll understand that this is kind of the best book to read for what it’s actually like to walk the Camino. You get a taste of the sights to see, the places to stay and the cities one walks through along the path. There are injuries, there are highs, there are lows, there are people. As anyone who has walked it will tell you, it’s mostly about the people you meet.
The strength of the book is the author’s honesty about her life, her difficult first marriage, her divorce, her struggle to raise her daughters, this all brings a raw honesty to the book that is a good indication of the sort of person out there walking the Camino.
A thoroughly enjoyable and well written addition to the genre of Camino memoirs. Honest, inspiring and in parts funny. I’ve read so many Camino books as I anticipate my first adventure. This is one of a very few I will re read.
Yellow Arrows is a deeply personal memoir that invites readers into the author’s journey with remarkable honesty and courage. Through vulnerable storytelling and authentic reflection, Peck shares not only the events of her life but also the emotions, challenges, and growth that shaped her along the way.
Peck embraces the complexities, uncertainties, and lessons learned throughout her journey. Readers will find themselves reflecting on their own paths while being inspired by the resilience, faith, and perseverance demonstrated throughout the book.
Yellow Arrows is a heartfelt and encouraging read that will resonate with anyone navigating life’s twists and turns. Shelli Peck’s authentic voice and willingness to share her story make this a memorable book that offers both inspiration and hope.
It’s a good read and brings back memories of my Camino’s. She caught the feel of the small villages, the Camino spirit which I enjoyed immensely. What completely turned me off was when the author brought up the need to use the trail for a toilet and instead of taking the time to educate readers how they shouldn’t leave their waste (poop) and toilet paper on the ground for the next pilgrim. That spoiled the whole book for me.
WOW! Incredible book & evolution of emotions as told by Shelli. I met the author on an Alaskan cruise this summer. I was taken by her beautiful smile & happiness. We were part of a group of seven couples who grew to be friends. Shelli sent us each one of her books. I learned more about the author, her husband & their journey. I have no desire to walk the Camino de Santiago but found the story very interesting. Thank you for sharing!
The author helps you feel that you are on the Camino walking her. She is humorous, descriptive, and also remains vulnerable as she reviews her life during the hike.
