What would you do if you knew when you were going to die? Would you will death to come and claim you quickly? Or would you pray for more time? It wasn’t until I knew that I was about to die, that I decided to really live. And it wasn’t until I gave up on love, that I finally found it. Just not in any of the places that I’d been searching. Sometimes you don’t get the fairytale happily ever after, but if you’re lucky, you get so much more. You get a perfect beginning that you can keep hold of until the end.
I'm a little neurotic; I function on a tiny amount of sleep and a huge amount of caffeine. I love green skittles and have an irrational fear of stormy weather. When I’m not writing about super hot college guys, you can generally find me googling them...All in the name of research of course. I can be persuaded to do just about anything with the promise of a good book or a bottle of bubbles. Oh, and I also love to write.
This is a prequel novella to the amazing Promises series. This can be read before or after books 1 & 2 or as a standalone.
You know you've read a good book when you are sitting with mascara and snot running down your face whilst your husband and children are looking at you like you are a absolute freak. Be prepared for this book to do that to even the most hard hearted readers amongst you. This is a story that will rip you apart.
Emily has Leukaemia. She has battled it for 2 years and now when she should be preparing to graduate from high school alongside her best friend Blair, she is having to come to terms with the fact that she may never graduate high school because... she is dying. Despite the best attempts at treatment, her cancer is now terminal.
How does an 18 year old girl process her impending death? How does she go about spending her last 6 months knowing that she will never achieve her dreams and aspirations? How does a young woman deal with knowing that she will never get to feel the joys of falling in love.
This book is Emily's journey. It's an emotional, witty journey that will have you crying as well as giggling and experiencing every emotion in between. Told in first person as well as in the form of a diary, we learn Emily's hopes and fears. We witness how she deals with her own grief as well as those closest to her. We also watch her meet a person that will make her final few months breathtakingly beautiful.
I have to tell you that as I write this review I have tears rolling down my cheeks. That is how much this book has effected me. The story that Elle has wrote is heartbreaking but it is also a read that will leave you knowing that at Emily's passing, she made it to a place that she never thought possible given the time she had left.
I am going to close my review here as although I could write on and on, I have a nose that needs blowing and make-up that needs re-applying. I also don't want to give anything more away.
A beautiful, heartbreaking read about the final months in a young woman's life. Told in a captivating, witty and genuine way, this is a MUST READ addition to an already awesome series. It will stay with me forever. Yes, it's that type of book.
DEVASTATINGLY BEAUTIFUL!!!!! My soul has been beautifully gutted and my heart is filled with love for Elle Brooks... I can not express in any words truly how amazing the Promises Series is... Promises Hurt and Forgotten Promises are 2 of my all time fave books, and now I can add Empty Promises it as well!
You know.. going in, that this book is going to be painful.. of course you know because Emily has Leukemia, and you know from the other 2 books that she has lost her battle with this disease... but you really really really don't get how gut wrenching reading Emily's words will be...
There are 2 scenes in particular for me in this book... OMG... SNOTFEST... SOBS... just beautifully painful... amazingly real... gorgeous and devastating at the same time... Don't get me wrong.. there is humor in this book, and beautiful life experiences from a girl trying to live everyday to her fullest...
The fact that Elle pulls from personal experiences, its just GAH!!! EPIC!!
Please do yourself a favor and read this series... Let Emily's words work loving magic to your soul!
I knew it was going to hurt, but I didn't count on falling in love all over again.
Okay, so I love this series, there is no denying it! Promises Hurt and Forgotten Promises were my top reads of 2014. I always felt a connection to Emily throughout the first two full length novels due to her letters and diary entries, but I didn't expect this novella to have the impact that it did considering the length of its predecessors, but thankfully, it delivered big! They say the biggest surprises come in the smallest packages and my goodness... Emily's story will stay with me, always.
In a nutshell, Empty Promises is a fulfilling, beautiful and deeply emotional love story told by a terminally ill girl, so be prepared to stock up on tissues! Although, I would like to strongly emphasise this was no pity party! Emily is gracious and incredibly strong, her outlook on life and her fear of hurting those she is to leave behind makes her a very credible heroine, and as much as my heart was breaking for her, she received more in terms of respect and admiration.
Lucas Wade, my sweet darling boy, where did you come from? I didn't think anyone could hold a candle to Ethan but Lucas sure does give him a run for his money. It was impossible not to love him.
My heart feels heavy, and somewhat shattered, but mostly, it feels full of love and heartfelt respect for these amazing characters and to the incredible talent that is Elle Brooks for giving us such a beautiful story to love, life, death and everything in between.
What is so clever here is that this can be read as either a standalone, book three in the series as originally intended, or as a series prequel. It works either way, but I am so pleased I read it last.
If you love authors such as Colleen Hoover, AL Jackson and enjoyed Bright side by Kim Holden, then this series is an absolute MUST!!!
Favourite passages: I guess he just scares me because he makes me hope, and there's no room for that in the time I have left. I'm not scheduled for a happy ever after, and I'd finally put myself at peace with that. But now here he comes along, like Prince Charming's sexy pierced brother, and something's shifting. I'm scared.
"I could love you so damn easily, Emily. It would be no effort at all. I want... fuck, I need you to let me try and win your heart because I've never met anyone who deserves to know what love is more than you."
This story was heartbreakingly beautiful in so many ways. Empty Promises is a novella and book #3 in the Promises series. It certainly did not feel like a novella at all. Empty Promises can be read as a standalone, but if you read Promises Hurt, you get to know Emily through her best friend Blaire. I already felt a connection with Emily from the first book, so being able to hear this story in her voice was such an added bonus and truly blew me away.
"Dear Diary, I just want to give up. I'm not going to, but I want to. This shit's too hard." ~Emily
Elle Brooks has such a great ability to write about heartbreaking topics but with an added touch of humor, wit and respect. Emily has a terminal illness and yes I did feel sad and heartbroken, but never did I feel that the story was depressing. Instead it was funny and inspiring. It's the kind of story where you want to ugly cry and laugh out loud at the same time.
"We do not remember days. We remember moments."
This story really shows how Emily's terminal illness affects her parents, family and friends. Also the strangers that Emily has to come in contact with on a daily basis. Emily's determination to complete her bucket list even though time is against her and literally running out was amazing. I absolutely adored the love interest in Lucas. This was such a sweet and heart squeezing part of the story. It made me tear up and swoon. And yes I felt the butterflies in my stomach. Okay, it may also be an ugly cry part!
I can't recommend this beautiful story enough. It' such a gem that shouldn't be missed.
If there is one series I beg you too read it's this one.
**** This is the First warning ****
You need supplies, especially tissues.
Im not going to give spoilers, you know I don't give them anyway. I'm not even going to give you my take on the story and what it's about. I will say If you don't read this you don't know what you are missing.
I cried Buckets.
I was enthralled.
I loved everything about it.
It is a truly stunning story.
I couldn't put it down. And when I did I was speechless. I never thought about anything for days after.
**** This is your second warning****
Make sure you have all 3 books lined up you wont want to wait.
Elle, This book/series is flawlessly stunning, its exceptional in it's entirety. It's a emotionally charged book from Promises Hurt. I don't think I have cried so much at a series of books. I loved it.
A beautiful story full of love, friendship, heartbreak and strength.
This is the third book that I've read by Elle Brooks, and I have loved them all. I went into this thinking that I knew what to expect...a tragic love story. What I didn't expect was to experience every single possible emotion in a short amount of time. The way Emily faces death head-on shows that while her life is far too short, she's wise beyond her years. This story is beautifully written and captures not only your attention, but your heart.
I loved this book. From the very beginning, to the very end, Ms. Brooks had me completely spellbound. I loved the characters that she created. I laughed with them, I cried with them, and I miss them now that the story is over. You won't be disappointed by this story . . . you'll only wish that there was more. Get ready to fall in love with Lucas, he's not one that you will forget easily.
You've done it again. I love your writing style and am anxiously awaiting for the next one. Congratulations. xoxo
This is Emily's story, she is Blair's best friend from Promises Hurt. Although the reader knows about Emily through Blair, Emily's story still captured my heart with her own voice. It's obvious why she and Blair are best friends, they trust each other 100% and always have a good laugh together. Being sick was hard for Emily and everyone around her, she had hopes and dreams like anyone else and time wasn't on her side. I loved reading about her and Blair hanging out, along with Brie and Casey. Yes, Emily has a huge crush on Ethan Jamison, she almost can't remember when she didn't have a crush on him. However, Ethan hasn't been noticing her the way that Emily hopes and she's got a list of things she wants to fulfill. With Blair's help, Emily crosses a few things off. I loved how this was written, because Emily experiences a full range of emotions and she's an awesome person. It's obvious why she's so adored by her friends and parents. She's caring, considerate, funny and she's real about everything she's feeling and experiencing. The scene at the bridal shop was so sweet. Then there's Lucas, someone Emily has the fortunate opportunity to meet, and if I thought I adored Ethan, Wow!, Lucas could give Ethan a run for his money. Lucas is very forward, but also gentle and hard to resist with what he wants with Emily and as their friendship progresses, Emily is able to accomplish more things on her list. I think the part that held my heart the most was knowing that Emily caught someone's eye, and not just anyone, because Lucas is amazing, but that he made sure she knew how incredibly special she was. The ending is already known from Blair's story, but what Blair didn't know was that Emily finally got her most important wish.
What it feels like to know your days a are limited. Elle Brooks let us see things through Emily's eyes. She handled is well as expected. Lucus was so sweet and sincere in his quest to help fulfill an item on her list. We must all remember nothing is promised.
I will shamefully admit that Empty Promises was the first thing I ever read by Elle Brooks, though after reading this utterly phenomenal novella, I can assuredly tell you that it will most certainly not be the last of what I read from this fantastic author.
I loved this novella. I was enraptured by the beautiful and heartbreaking and just breathtaking story between the pages of it the instant I began reading it. The characters, the story, the meaning behind it all in this novella just blew me away, and I was fully captivated by the heartfelt beauty that just exuded from this story.
Empty Promises is a prequel novella to Elle Brooks Promises Series, and it tells the story of Emily. Emily is really something else, and I’m not sure if I’ve ever really had the chance to experience a character like hers, but that’s what I loved about her. That’s what made this novella so unforgettable and just downright amazing because it gave me the wonderful chance to experience something I’d never experienced before.
And while I’ll be completely honest that this story and Emily and Lucas had my heart breaking at times and made big old baby tears fall down my face, in the end it was sincerely beautiful with an immense amount of meaning and feeling that just reiterated how spectacular this story was.
I don’t know if I have the right amount of words to capture the wondrous being that is Emily. She is very raw and real at times because of what she’s going through, and her honesty and vulnerability weaves its way through this story in such a remarkable way. Emily just makes you want to love her the instant you meet her. She’s just got a heart of gold and is bound and determined to make her last few months on this Earth all that they can be. Honestly, I have mad respect for Emily’s character because of what she faces with her head held high, and how she pushes through, and gives it her all even when most would just give into it. Emily is fierce in her own magnificent way, she is just a force to be reckoned with, and I guarantee by the end of her story you will just be in awe of her. I know I was.
Lucas, Lucas, Lucas. That boy stole my heart. Period. I could honestly go on and on about how much I loved his character for days, and it still would not be enough to capture how much I was just enamored by him. He is the definition of swoon-worthy. And not just because I imagine him as being someone who’s really enticing to look at, though he definitely has that going for him. No, I loved Lucas because of the heart of that boy. His heart spoke volumes and it made my heart fall head over heels for him. The feeling, the meaning, and just the amount of everything that came from that boy’s heart had me melting, and of course, swooning. Lucas Wade officially stole a piece of my heart in this novella because of his heart and all that he does for Emily, and that boy is just golden in my eyes.
There are more moments in Empty Promises that will pull at your heart than you can shake a stick at. They will squeeze your heart because you know how hard and painful the events of this novella are for these characters to experience. Elle Brooks creates these characters in such ways that you fully feel what they’re feeling and experiencing, and that just amplifies everything. Every heartbreaking moment, every moment that makes you want to cry, every emotion they have and experience, and just every moment that pulls at your heart for what Emily, Blair, Emily’s family, and Lucas are going through. It pulls at your heart, but those moments are what make you feel this story. It’s what makes this story and its characters the memorable and superb thing that it is.
Now I don’t want you thinking that this book was all about the sad moments, because it wasn’t. There were so many instances and moments where I laughed my butt off at what was happening. Right when everything was so tough, or I felt like my heart was hurting like crazy, Elle Brooks created a moment to break the tension. A moment where I as the reader could not hold in the hysterical laughter at some of the brilliantly funny and very realistic awkward things that were happening. And the best part was that those funny moments, those moments of authentic laughter and light, just perfectly balanced with everything else going on in the story. It made it all whole, and just brought everything together in such a wonderful way.
Emily and Blair’s friendship made this novella for me. Their friendship together was well layered and thoughtfully crafted over the entire story, and it just felt real. Elle Brooks completely captures what it means to have a best friend with the way you talk and feel and do things in ways that only best friends do, and what a friendship like that really entails. You could just tell how important they both were to one another. Reading their friendship just made me happy because it allowed me the chance to experience through Emily what true, honest to God friendship can do for you and make you feel.
One of my favorite aspects of this novella was meeting all the exuberant and dynamic characters of this series, and I’m practically chomping at the bit to get more of them in the next two books. Blair, Ethan, Brie, Casey, and just everyone else who I met in this story drew me into it all more. They are all seriously engaging, and they just all felt so real to read. Elle Brooks creates a group of characters you want to spend time with, and that really is just fantastic to have when you’re reading this story.
I could probably go on and on about the beautiful and breathtakingly heartfelt meaning behind this story. There is such a power to the words you will experience with Emily and everyone around her, and I think it’s literally impossible for these words and the emotional meaning behind them to not strike you somewhere. This story and Emily make you feel and think and wonder and just experience it all. Getting the chance to read and experience that is honestly one of the best feelings in the world, and Empty Promises gives that to you again and again.
Empty Promises tells the story of Emily. Of how she realizes what it means to truly live when she’s about to die. Of how she realizes the power of a person and love, and what it can bring. Of how endings truly can bring about some of the most beautiful and heart melting beginnings that a girl could ask for.
I loved this novella. I cannot say those four words enough. It made me feel. I laughed, I cried like a baby, my heart hurt and my heart soared at times, and in the end I fell in love. In love with these exceptional characters, in love with this meaningful, emotional, and genuine story, and in love with what I got to feel and experience on every single page.
This story gave me everything I didn’t even know I needed, and it is a spectacular beginning to the Promises Series which I plan on finishing just as soon as I finish this review. Elle Brooks’ fantastic writing and storytelling will bring this story, Emily, and every other little extraordinary aspect of Empty Promises to life. It will give you everything and more, and in the end you’ll be beyond thrilled that you had the chance to experience the power and magnificence of Empty Promises.
I have received an ARC copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.
First thing first. Message from the Author:
Empty Promises is a prequel NOVELLA and can be read before or after Promises Hurt & Forgotten Promises. It can also be read as a standalone.
Before I will even write I have to stop crying. Literally. The book is amazing. It's sweet, funny, sad and heartbreaking. But most importantly it gives you a message. Message, that says simply LIVE! Doesn't matter how much time you have left. It could be an hour, day, a month a year or even hundred years. Just simply grab life in your hands and do whatever you want.
The novella mostly is told from the POV of the main character: Emily. She is a teenager, that was diagnosed with Leukaemia. And it's terminal. She is telling her story when she has only few months left. She was battling this hateful sickness for two years. But she has lost. It's terminal and no one can do anything to save her. And for a 18 year old, with dreams, hopes it's a disaster. She never fell in love, never will experience real heartbreak nor she will marry.
Emily is such an amazing character. She is angry at life and God, for what has been taken from her, but mostly she is worried about all those people she loves. The things she is doing to help THEM stay alive with happy memories are breathtaking. But as all young woman she is also dreaming of love. She had a long time crush on Ethan *swoon*, but he does not even notice her. she is hurt because of that, but when Lucas appears, she is able to see what real love and relationship can be like. Thanks to him she is able to feel all those emotions she lost hope to ever have.
Lucas. He is one handsome and so considerate man. God I love him to bits. He is making his goal to make Emily fall in love with him. His attempts to do that are so hilarious and so full of emotions that I was crying, laughing at the same time. My heart broke when I read his POV.
I could go on, but I can't. I have to get some cuddles again, thank my hubby that he is healthy and than the world that even if life is shit sometimes, it's beautiful. So now I'm crying again. And I blame Elle for being such an amazing author.
ARC gifted by author via blog tour in exchange for an honest review
I literally have no words to say about this book.
I mentioned this before in a review, that it is very rare for me to cry when I read. Well, Elle Brooks, you have succeeded in making me cry and I mean the whole short breath-silent-snot cry.
This book was all parts amazing, beautiful and emotional.
'Empty Promises' is a companion novel to 'Forgotten Promises' and 'Promises Hurt'
This novella is based on Emily, Blair's best friend, and her journey through the months before cancer took away her life.
This is book pulls at you heartstrings. That dull ache that you can't help but feel for Emily.
The one best thing about this novella was how Elle Brooks gave Emily 'life' in the midst of heartache. How Emily appreciated the smallest of things that one rarely ever notices.
Elle Brooks has the ability to make the reader fall in love with her characters, be it Ethan < Blair, Brie, Casey, TJ, Jackson and Emily. And now let's add one more person to this list.
Lucas Wade.
The saying 'don't judge a book by its cover' applies to him. He definitely is not what he seems.
He is, in a way, an angel in disguise.
He like Emily is on borrowed time, but he doesn't let it affect him. He literally lives life to the fullest.
He helps Emily in ways she would have never thought.
He made her laugh, he made her feel alive. He made her live again.
He was the 'silver lining' in her dark days. And most importantly, he made Emily fall in love with him, granted the ways we cheesy but it was that cheesiness that left a huge smile on my face.
So, yeah, Lucas Wade was the Hero The Knight in Shinning Armour
The Romeo to her Juliet. Why? because , this is a tragic love story without a HEA.
But like Ms. Brooks said, 'It is the tragic ones that are the best'
*I was given a copy of this book as a gift from Stephanie's Book Reports in exchange for an honest review.
5 stars for Broken Promises by Elle Brooks! This is the prequel to Promises Hurt and Forgotten Promises. It can be read as a stand alone , but I highly recommend reading the other books as they are both phenomenal!
After reading the other books, I wanted to know more about Emily on a personal level, and boy did this prequel provide that and so much more. Emily is a beautiful person both inside and out. Yes, she is dying from cancer, but that isn't what this book is all about. Emily's character is such an inspiration. She lives each day of her life and doesn't get caught up feeling sorry for herself. Yes, this book will make you cry, but it will also touch her heart in a wonderful way.
Emily has been crushing on Ethan for a long time. She is determined to make him take an interest in her. Events transpire that find Emily in the Chemotherapy waiting room at the hospital and there she meets the handsome and sexy Lucas Wade. Oh Lucas! What a sweetheart he is. He and Emily begin to spend time together and end up falling in love. They share a love that is simple yet beautiful.
Even though I shed many tears while reading this book, I was left with a warm feeling in my heart. This wasn't just another sad story. It was a story filled with inspiration and true love. Elle Brooks did a wonderful job developing such admirable characters. I would highly recommend reading this book! It is awesome! Way to go Elle!!!
Emily has been given a death sentence; Luekemia, and it's terminal. While she is angry and wants to wallow in self pity, but she knows she has to be strong for her family, friends, and more importantly; herself. With the help of her friend Blair, she makes a bucket list with the hopes of checking each box before it is too late. What Emily doesn't expect is to meet someone who knows exactly what she is going through. Will his help be just what Emily needs to make her last days count?
This novella is first and foremost a tearjerker. I suggest having tissues handy while reading this incredible story by Elle Brooks. We first learn about Emily in Elle's first story Promises Hurt. In this novella, we get a more in depth look at Emily Wilson, and all that she is facing in her young life.
What I appreciate most about Emily's story is that it takes a unfortunate and sad disease like Leukemia, and adds a humorous spin to it. While Emily has to come to terms with her illness, it is not stopping her from living. We get to go on this journey with Emily, including her highs and lows. I couldn't help but be impressed by how Emily dealt with all the lows she was experiencing thanks to her disease.
While I was upset when the story finally ended, I was happy that Elle decided to write a story talking about such a serious topic. This story is about hope, loss, and love. After reading Emily's story, you may just think twice about the hardships in your own life.
Emotionally Beautiful story, even after reading the books and knowing what was going to happen this pulled all the emotions out of me in the amazing Novella. I laughed and cried big tears but mostly being able to be inside her thoughts and emotions on the last days of her life was such a ride and I am so glad Elle Brooks brought her words to us.
This is Emily's journal of her final months it fills in so many holes and thoughts I was curious about. It is brilliantly written and pulls you in to every emotion Emily is experiencing at that moment.
How does such a young soul live out her final months days knowing that is all she has left, you find out in this Novella its so unbelievably beautiful.
I don't know if there are words of gratitude to express to Elle Brooks for allowing me to BETA read this touching Novella. It pulls the heart strings just like all the other books in this series. This shows the many side of a terrible disease and let's you see a glimpse into what they are feeling. What a amazing thing to read, omg thank you Elle Brooks.
I never cry while reading a book, ever. They say it's a first time for everything, right?!
Emily knows that she's going to dye, she has Leukaemia, terminal. Can you imagine having this disease at such young age? How will you deal with it? What will your priorities become? Who and what matters and who and what does not? Emily had to put through all of this. She was surrounded with loved ones and I sometimes couldn't figured it out if they were the ones who was making this easier for her or was she the one who was making it easier for them! And Lukas... sweet, sweet boy.
I love Elle's writing style. It flows, the storyline is always unique and the caracters are so likable that you wish you could jump into the book just to 'hang' with them. And really! How can you write a book about a young girl dying and I'm reading it like it's a thriller? This is how good Elle is, briliant actually! This story broke my heart, but to be honest - that's what great stories do! I loved it.
Need more than 5 stars ..... Goodreads we need more stars!
Book 3 but really this can be read before book one or even after book 2.
I read this book about a month ago as I beta read it and I still cant find the right words to describe how amazing this book is. If you have read the first two books then you know Emily's story - mostly.
Elle has taken a tough subject and treated it with such respect. The characters Elle has given us are so perfectly written - you laugh with them, you love with them and you cry with them ....boy do you cry.
Although my heart ached for Emily, it was shattered into pieces by Lucas - he might even be more perfect than Ethan!
I urge everyone to read these books - they are too me perfection. I wish I had an ounce of Elle's talent.
This is a series that hits a nerve for me personally so it was a tough read at times but it is also therapeutic. I consider it a MUST READ! I know I will read it over & over. You will need some tissues though.
The previous two books are told by Blair but this novella is by her BFF Emily. I enjoyed getting the other side of things, (this is NOT a retelling of a story) Emily has such a great personality & is so funny, I just wish I could join them for coffee or something, this is a group of girls I just know I'd get along with.
There are some difficult subjects but they are balanced out with some fun & humour. I am trying so hard to not give too much away so I will end here by thanking Elle for giving us this beautiful series.
Over here with something coming out of my eyes! Beautiful and heartbreaking, as I knew it would be! I am so happy to have been able to read a part of Emily's life story, I feel complete now. Almost, actually now I just need to read a book about Lucas! #PoorLucas oh my goodness! If you haven't read The Promises series yet, I highly suggest saving this for AFTER you finish! It can be a standalone, but is so much better getting closure after the roller coaster ride that is this series! I am not into revealing reviews, just know this was amazing! Happy release day, Elle! Happy reading!
A great little novella addition to the 'Promises' series and gives you a different view of Blair (MC from the other books). You know where this is going, but Elle Brooks really makes the journey enjoyable and not torturous, as it could easily be. Emily is a great character and takes you through the highs and lows of her last few months - loved it and I did shed a tear at the end. Elle Brooks really writes believable characters - you buy in to their relationships, for all the good and hard stuff. Great series and easily read all books in a few days - now I feel like I'm going to miss the people a bit :)

I genuinely thought that I knew what to expect with this book. I have read the other two books in the series (which I heartily recommend to you), and I knew Emily’s place in that story.
What I got when I read this book was completely unexpected. Rarely have I had the privilege of reading a book which is so well written, so beautifully poignant, and with characters I really cared about. This prequel is something special.
This is a tear jerker. There is no getting away from that. I will happily reveal to you that the author got me squarely in the feels with this one. Tissues at the ready people. You’re gonna need them.
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
10 Amazingly Beautiful Stars, is what I rate this book.
Elle Brooks has managed to break, heal and rebreak my heart over and over again with her Promises series.
Emily's story was so beautifully and eloquently written. This story made me feel the struggles, heartbreak, joy and stages of grief along with Emily with her words. I laughed, cried and even ugly cried while experiencing this journey.
Phenomenal book, recommend everyone to read the complete series because it is AMAZING!!!
I look so forward to reading more from Elle Brooks.
WOW WOW WOW, is all I can say about Empty Promises! I had previously read Promises Hurt and Forgotten Promises so I knew what was going to happen but even though I knew what was coming it still kicked me in the guts and for only a handful of times I bawled while reading - I really thought that even though I knew it would be OK but Elle Brooks is such a fantabolous writer that you forget about everything else except for the words on the page I cannot wait to see what Elle come out with next
Get your tissues at the ready because you will need them. I loved reading Emily's story as she is a huge part of the first two books, it was truly heartfelt and beautiful! This book can be read as a standalone or prequel to the others in the series. I read it as the third book and enjoyed reading it this way as I could relate to hearing her side of situations I was already aware of. As I read it last, this was truly an amazing ending.
Holy mother of tears. Amazing amazing story. I really loved reading from Emily's POV. And Lucas, he was beyond amazing. I just wish those two would've had more time together. Elle Brooks thank you for writing such an amazing story.
