No Days Off was exactly the kind of inspiring and uplifting audiobook I was hoping for at the start of a new year!
Not many concepts in the book were new to me as I really enjoy self reflection and improvement books and have listened to other Bolinda audiobooks as well, but the repetition is helpful, especially at the start of the year. I’m not sure the title is a great match though as I didn’t actually feel like he was saying not to rest, and think that another title maybe have been better suited. It’s more about making commitments to yourself and in the day to day of your life.
Overall, I appreciate the reminders in the book and really do want to make an effort to be more mindful and practice meditation this year or some daily scheduled self reflection time.
This is another brilliant new release in the Bolinda Originals series and although this isn't a genre I read very often, I actually really found this so motivating and helpful.
This release has come at the best time for those of us wanting to try and make changes in the year to come and prepare for setting our new year resolutions or goals.
This book takes us through nine different areas of discipline that can help us to improve our well-being by making achievable goals and changes that will last.
When I read the title, I thought that this was going to challenge us to something pretty difficult - giving us no days off and no respite - but instead, this looks at giving us ideas and steps to follow that will become part of our daily routine and allow us to maintain these changes long term.
I liked that although some of the anecdotes used here seemed quite extreme - heading off to Tibet for a long term spiritual retreat (not something we can all afford the time or money to do) - these are used purely as a personal example and what follows gives us a opportunity to work out a similar method that would work within our own lives and schedules.
I was really pleased to see that some of the steps are things that I already try to incorporate within my own life - the difference being, that I'm not so consistent with my implementation of these steps and I allow other factors to influence me.
These are areas that I know I'll come back to and dip in and out of the different sections time and again.
This was a great read and I can't wait to set my goals for 2026 with these steps in mind.
Dr James Rouse shares practical, science-backed strategies to turn everyday choices into meaningful growth, joy, and purpose. Through simple rituals, mindfulness, resilience, and intentional living, No Days Off offers a clear path to living with greater presence, energy, and possibility.
This is a great motivational guide to start the new year. It reinforces the importance of maintaining a positive outlook, building good habits, and being more intentional with our daily choices. While I didn’t learn anything completely new, the ideas covered are timeless and well worth revisiting.
For me, this book served as a much-needed affirmation at the beginning of the year - a reset to set things on the right track. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re looking to realign your mindset too.
Another plus is that the audiobook is narrated by the author himself. I always enjoy hearing a book from the author’s own perspective, as it feels more conversational and genuine. With its relatively short duration, it’s easy to listen to the entire book in no time.
(Thanks to NetGalley and Bolinda for a gifted review copy)
A great self help book for anyone looking to change their lifestyle/habits in the new year! The audiobook is a quick listen- under 5 hours on normal speed, which I always appreciate for non-fiction and self help (some self help gets way too wordy, but I didn’t feel that way here). As a frequent reader of nonfiction, the ideas presented weren’t anything surprising or new to me, but it was still very refreshing and motivating to hear them explained in this book with new reasoning. To sum up the general idea, Dr. Rouse explains ways you can be more productive by calibrating your life to the patterns of your body. For example- one thing mentioned is, if you are more focused in the morning, you should always get up early and take advantage of that time, then take breaks in the evenings. The title of the book may be misleading… he’s not telling you to not take breaks. 😂 Anyways, I think people who liked the book Atomic Habits would like this one. Both talk about mindset, goal setting, productivity, etc.
This book was a fun listen. It’s very uplifting and inspiring for anyone that wants to change their lifestyle or habits. Honestly, I loved that this was a quick listen. I appreciate how the author got straight to the point. I was able to listen to this in one sitting. There wasn’t anything new to me as I’m kind of a self help audiobook junkie. However, it was still an extremely motivating and interesting listen. This book was narrated by the author, which made it even better. You could tell through his tone and voice how much he enjoys life and wants his readers to learn from what he has written. This was definitely an enjoyable non-fiction listen. I received this audiobook from Bolinda Audio and NetGalley. All opinons are my own.
Reading the title, I was a bit hesitant—I didn’t need another self-help book telling me to add more to my already exhausting to-do list. However, this book is not that. Instead, it thoughtfully encourages the reader to be more mindful in their daily habits and interactions. It offers practical, approachable insights that genuinely help you work toward the best version of yourself.
Thank you NetGalley for providing me with this ARC!
No Days Off: The Art of Everyday is a motivating reminder that purpose-driven living isn’t something we clock in and out of it’s a daily commitment to becoming our highest self. This audiobook delivers its message with clarity and conviction, emphasizing that when you are truly aligned with your purpose, there are no “off” days only opportunities to grow, refine, and show up fully. Thanks Netgally for the opportunity to listen to this ARC.
3.5 stars. I found the first few chapters interesting and the chapter about gratitude. Lost my way a little in other chapters as I found the language quite repetitive. Food for thought and have come away with some things to think about and reflect on.
this was a nice easy listen to begin my days. as others have noted, if you’re a wellness junkie you might not learn anything new in this book, but it’s a great reminder of how to bring more intentionality into your life
