At fifty, Veronica Martinez has a life that looks full from the outside—grown kids, a job she loves at a small pediatric clinic, and an almost-boyfriend who swears he’s just “busy right now,” no matter how long it’s been since he showed up.
Inside, she’s tired of feeling like an afterthought.
When yet another canceled visit and vague text from Eric land on a day that already hurts, Veronica can’t laugh it off anymore. With the help of her straight-talking best friend Tasha, a dog-eared self-growth book, and the “let them show you who they are” mindset, she stops excusing the bare minimum… and quietly, bravely, walks away.
What follows isn’t a makeover montage. It’s slower and more dinners with her daughter Caroline, sticky-fingered hugs from five-year-old Ava, small-town sunsets over Harbor Glen, and the shaky work of learning how to want more without apologizing for it.
Then a local contractor named Jacob keeps crossing her path—steady, kind, and actually present. He listens. He remembers the little things. And just when Veronica starts to wonder if love might be possible on new terms, old fears What if wanting more means losing everything again?

Let Love Find Me by Verity Stone This book hit me right in the heart. It follows a woman stuck in that exhausting limbo with a “sort of” boyfriend—the one who keeps breaking promises, stringing her along, and always leaving her on the back burner. Sound familiar? It did to me. I saw so much of my own experiences reflected in her story, and that made it incredibly validating. Verity Stone writes with gentle honesty about what it feels like to settle for crumbs when you know you deserve the whole damn loaf. The emotional weight is real—this isn’t a light, fluffy read. There were moments that felt heavy and sad, moments that made me ache for the protagonist and for every woman who’s ever waited for someone to finally choose her. But that’s exactly why it resonated so deeply. It doesn’t sugarcoat the pain of letting go or the quiet strength it takes to start choosing yourself instead. By the end, I felt seen, understood, and a little more hopeful. It’s a story about healing, self-worth, and trusting that real love—the kind that doesn’t cost you your peace—will find you when you’re ready. If you’re in (or coming out of) a situation where you’re giving more than you’re getting, this book will feel like a warm, affirming hug. It’s not always easy to read, but it’s worth it. I liked it a lot and would definitely recommend it, especially to women navigating midlife reinvention and relationship lessons. Highly recommended for anyone who needs the reminder: You don’t have to keep waiting. Let love find you
