He swore an oath for revenge. But will love change his fate?

Ethan Durand is the world’s first songwriter. But beneath the facade of a humble and gifted entertainer lies a quest for justice. His father was executed by order of the Crown, and as the war between England and France rages on, he’s plotting his vengeance from within the walls of Windsor Castle.

After Ethan meets Amelia, he finds himself torn between his mission and his forbidden love for the King’s bold and sharp-witted daughter. Yet Amelia is playing a dangerous game of her own—one that could unravel the monarchy her father fights to preserve.

As Ethan's music echoes through Windsor, secret plots and cut-throat betrayals transform the King’s stronghold into a powder keg waiting for a single match. Will the spark between Ethan and Amelia ignite a chain of events that will change their fates forever? Or will they watch their secret love affair go up in flames?

A sweeping tale of revenge, love, and the power of song, Steve Carlson’s Minstrel and the Princess is a gripping historical adventure set against the majestic backdrop of 15th-century England.

My favorite part about Steve Carlson’s music is his ability to take me on a journey with his words mixed with strong melodies. Being able to transcribe that into a book seems like a very logical next step. I find myself pleasantly surprised by how wonderfully he has done. Minstrel and the Princess was mesmerizing from the first chapter. It felt like a tv show that I needed to binge from beginning to end but better. Because intertwined with wonderful imagery and emotion was the heart of it all - Music. Those familiar with his catalogue will recognize some of the lyrics which only furthers the excitement. Those who are not familiar will be introduced to a wonderful soundtrack to go along with an already deeply entertaining story. One of heartache, love, rebellion, war, friendship, and grace. Things that everyone can relate to. This will be a book enjoyed time and time again.

Loved this! Most of my experience with Steve Carlson’s writing is through Radio Company songs, and since I love those songs, I knew I wanted to read this book. The lyrical writing style immediately drew me in, and I really enjoyed the story!

I am a huge fan of Steve Carlson, the singer and songwriter. This is his first book and for him not being an author is is ok. Not more. I know he wanted to show how music can change people. But it is a love story, a pretty boring love story with not much heart and endless repetitions. It more or less ended when the minstrel had to flee from England to the south of France and the princess followed him. Which took about 20 pages. Mind, the story is situated during the hundred years war between England and France in the 14th/15th century. We are talking about a young pregnant woman on a horse and a journey of about 1000 km during an extremely dangerous time and all we learned about this journey is that the was exhausted when she reached her destination. Really?
