Oh, What Fun It Is To Ride: A Grumpy Sunshine Small-Town Holiday Romcom

Rate this book
From USA Today bestselling author, Logan Chance comes a steamy, swoony, and stuffed with holiday magic romantic comedy that'll have you laughing-out-loud one minute, and clutching your metaphorical pearls the next. When big-city PR manager, Ivy Garland crashes—literally—into the town’s prized sleigh, she lands smack dab on the naughty list of Rhett Ryder, grumpy owner of Jingle Bell Rides and protector of all things holly and highly inconvenient. With the Snowflake Jubilee days away and sponsors threatening to bail, Ivy’s got one shot to save the festival (and her job): convince Mr. “Bah Humbug” to let her spin a little Christmas magic.

Rhett would rather eat yellow snow than fake-smile for Ivy’s cameras…until a blizzard strands them at his cozy cabin with one roaring fire, one very nosy town, and exactly one bed. Suddenly, the girl who “sleighs” at crisis management is jingling his bells, and the man who swore off mistletoe is ready to fa-la-la-la-lose control.

Cue candy-cane kisses, peppermint-hot chemistry, and a town determined to ship them harder than a rush-order sleigh. But when Ivy’s past threatens to frostbite their future, they’ll have to decide if they’re just dashing through the snow—or in for the long sleigh ride.

The cutest, wittiest little holiday novella. Gave me sweet happy tears and made me want to cozy up with cocoa and just smile the whole way through. A little unrealistic at times, but still well written and so adorable. Perfect holiday read.

This was really heartfelt and showed Christmas is more than just presents or just a day. I loved Rhett and Ivy's story. It was beautiful and showed that things can work when we think they can't. The chemistry was good and it was well written.

Sleighing at love!

Rhett and Ivy are the Christmas couple you didn't know you needed! Rhett lives in the mountains, recovering from his time in Iraq and Ivy is the ad executive hiding the town to create content form the mayor. When they get snowed in, the attraction between them opens up and pulls them into a relationship. Is this thing between them something for now or for forever?
This was a great little read and the characters were perfect for each other

If you've ever picked up a Logan Chance book, you know you’re in for a ride—and Oh What Fun It Is to Ride, totally lives up to the hype. Chance always nails the balance between steamy romance, heartfelt moments, and laugh-out-loud humor, and this festive story is no exception.

Ivy, our leading lady, is a PR manager brimming with sunshine, Christmas spirit, and witty banter. She’s basically the human embodiment of all things Christmas. Rhett, the male lead, is her total opposite—quiet, a little rough around the edges, a war veteran who just wants some peace and quiet. He ends up reluctantly starring in Ivy’s promotional videos to save the local festival, The Snowflake Jubilee, and their interactions are pure gold.

The story is set in Chimney Gorge, a cozy little mountain town that’s straight out of a holiday postcard—think snowy streets, twinkling lights, and a bunch of nosy but well-meaning locals who add to the charm. The meet-cute between Ivy and Rhett is hilarious and chaotic, and the slow-burn romance that follows will have you flipping pages just to see what happens next.

The chemistry between Ivy and Rhett becomes obvious to everyone except, well, Ivy and Rhett. They’re the classic grumpy-sunshine pairing, and when a snowstorm leaves them trapped in Rhett’s cabin with just one bed, things heat up for sure—both emotionally and physically. The way they open up to each other gives the story real depth beneath all the cozy holiday fun and spice.

Looking for a quick, heartwarming holiday read? This book checks all the boxes with classic rom-com vibes and genuine feels. Logan Chance is a 1-click author for me without fail, and this story is further evidence of why. He delivers laughs, romance, and authentic emotions every time.

Fans of Chance’s other work will love the cameos—Lucas and Melanie from A Very Bumpy Christmas show up (Melanie and Ivy are besties!), and Ruin from Protected by the Rebel makes an appearance as Rhett’s brother. The sibling banter is hilarious and adds a fun touch for longtime readers.

Honestly, reading this book feels like being wrapped up in a comfy blanket with hot cocoa by the fire. Logan Chance does it again—Oh What Fun It Is to Ride is another warm, funny, and utterly charming story from an author who never disappoints!

I recently finished an ARC of Oh, What Fun It Is to Ride, a Christmas romance that brought all the holiday vibes and a touch of insta-love, making it a quick and heartwarming read. The leads had a classic grumpy-sunshine dynamic, which I absolutely love, and their chemistry was palpable right from the start. The lighthearted tone kept things fun and festive, and I found myself quickly rooting for them despite their opposites-attract banter.

I was especially excited to dive into a romance written by a male author, and it didn’t disappoint in terms of banter and charm.

However, there was one area where the story fell a little short for me. The open-door intimate scene felt somewhat imbalanced, with the focus being primarily on the male character’s enjoyment, and not enough on what the woman was experiencing. As a reader who enjoys spice, I usually appreciate when the moments feel well-rounded and give both perspectives. I want to know what is happening to the woman’s body. In this case, the scene could either have used more detail from the woman’s point of view to make it feel more genuine, or just left out entirely—it wouldn’t have detracted from the story. I may have enjoyed it better if the door was closed as this scene fell short for me.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of spice when it’s done well, but this particular moment left me wanting a bit more. That being said, the rest of the story was delightful. The romance unfolded naturally, and despite my reservations about the intimate scenes, I found myself rooting for the couple by the end.

I’m was also intrigued enough by the side characters to go back and check out the additional stories in the series. I’d love to see more of their journeys, especially with how well they were introduced here.

Overall, Oh, What Fun It Is to Ride is a charming Christmas read perfect for cozying up with a cup of hot cocoa, but with a small caveat for readers who prefer their spice to be a bit more balanced.

Logan Chance is one of those authors I instinctively reach for when I want a guaranteed mix of humor, heart, and heat — and this festive novella delivered exactly that.

The story kicks off with Ivy Garland, a big-city PR manager who crashes (literally) into small-town sleigh-maker Rhett Ryder. Their meet-cute is chaotic and hilarious, and it sets the tone for a grumpy-sunshine romance that’s equal parts cozy and spicy. Ivy’s mission to save the Snowflake Jubilee festival clashes with Rhett’s desire to stay out of the spotlight, but their chemistry is undeniable — especially when a snowstorm strands them in his cabin with one bed and zero distractions.

What I loved: 🎄 The setting — Chimney Gorge is the kind of small town you want to get snowed into. It’s festive, charming, and full of meddling locals who add warmth and humor. 🔥 The romance — Ivy and Rhett have that slow-burn tension that builds beautifully. Their banter sparkles, and the emotional payoff is worth every page. ☕ The vibe — This book feels like a warm mug of cocoa by the fire. It’s short, sweet, and full of holiday magic, but it also has depth and emotional resonance.

If you’re looking for a quick holiday read that blends classic rom-com tropes with genuine heart, this one’s for you. Logan Chance didn’t disappoint — he reminded me why he’s an auto-buy author in my world.

Recommended for fans of: ✔️ Grumpy x Sunshine ✔️ Snowed-in cabin romance ✔️ Small-town holiday charm ✔️ Feel-good stories with a touch of spice

"Love -real love-doesn't show up only when its convenient and the schedules clear. It shows up messy. It shows up when you're working long hours and exhausted and still make time for each other.
If you are looking for a book that has the perfect balance between steamy romance, heartfelt moments and laugh out loud humor centered around a small town with Christmas as the backdrop this is the one for you. Ivy is a PR manager overflowing with happiness, Christmas spirit and witty banter who collides with Rhett in the worst way. Rhett is the total opposite a quiet rough around the edges war veteran who loved the peace and quiet. Put these two together locked up in a cabin during a winter storm and hold on because you are in for quiet the ride. The chemistry is obvious to everyone in town except for them but they will soon see just how much chemistry they do have. But Ivy gets a huge promotion which will take her back home and away from the small town. Will Rhett be able to see past the peace and quiet or will he break her heart?
I truly loved how Rhett completely opened up to her and told her about his past. It took a lot for him to do that. I truly felt that was written so incredible well and was heartfelt and sweet.
Logan did an amazing job with this storyline and the characters. Definitely one I would gladly reread.

This little Christmas novella was exactly the cozy, steamy pick-me-up I wanted for the holidays. Ivy and Rhett had me from the moment she literally crashed into his world. Ivy’s big-city PR panic meets Rhett’s small-town grump in the funniest, cutest, most “I’m-invested-in-this-way-too-fast” way.

Ivy is the kind of heroine you root for immediately—competent, soft-hearted, and trying so hard to keep everything from falling apart.

I’m always a sucker for a grumpy cinnamon roll, but this man with his sleigh, his pride, and his grumbling? Rhett is an I nstant favorite. Their banter is snappy, their chemistry peppermint-hot😉, and them being stuck in a cabin together…couldn’t help but wait for that spark to ignite😍

Chimney Gorge is festive, charming, and delightfully nosy in the best Hallmark-but-make-it-spicy way, and I loved how the whole town seemed more invested in Ivy and Rhett than they were in the Snowflake Jubilee itself😬

This novella is fast, flirty, and full of holiday magic—like a spiked hot cocoa for your reading life. If you need something that’ll make you laugh, swoon, and feel wrapped up in a cozy Christmas blanket, this one absolutely sleighs.

This is a heartwarming and humorous love story... over the top at times, but full of whimsy and plenty of grumpy/sunshine vibes. Thanks to the publisher for providing me with an advance review copy. I thoroughly enjoyed all the holiday puns and the complete Christmas dorkiness of Ivy, particularly after learning her backstory. Brett is the epitome of grumpy - not wanting to deal with Ivy the content creator invading his town and his space. While I appreciated learning a bit about Brett's past, I would have enjoyed a little more about how and why he ended up in Chimney Gorge. Speaking of Chimney Gorge, I want to visit! It sounds like an amazing place!

The chemistry between our main characters is good and the spice is medium. The book reads quickly, falling at only 17 chapters, but don't let the length fool you. It's a full story with a bit of angst and two wounded people who cope with survivor guilt during the holidays in very different ways but ultimately a tale with a happy ever after. Plus some pretty cute reindeer are thrown in there, too!

This is a standalone book in the Sleigh All Day Holiday Romance Series.

Oh What Fun It Is To Ride is a Hallmark vibe Christmas story with a dash of spice. It's a sweet, funny, lighthearted rom-com that will make you feel all warm and cozy.

Ivy Garland is a big-city PR strategist content guru that's all sunshine, sugar and puns. She's sent to a small mountain town to bring awareness to the upcoming Snowflake Jubilee that the sponsors are threatening to pull out if traffic doesn't pick up. Unfortunately the moment she arrives in town she slips and breaks the prized sled and finds herself face to face with Rhett Ryder the owner of said sled and Jingle Bell Rides. He's less than thrilled or welcoming with his grumpy standoffish personality especially since he prefers peace and quiet and she's anything but that. He agrees to let her film but with conditions no faces and watch out for his horses.
Sleigh rides, snow storms, closed roads, isolated cabins and undeniable attraction leads to thawed hearts and mended souls.

I great feel-good read with a happily ever after that you don't want to miss.

Ray of sunshine Ivy Garland arrives in Chimney Gorge, ready to cast her PR magic over the town to support their publicity and fundraising efforts. She’s sugary sweet and fun of puns and seriously good at what she does. Unfortunately, she fails to impress grumpy local Rhett Ryder when she accidentally damages the sleigh he uses for his Jingle Bell Rides business. Forced to work together, he insists that she doesn’t show anyone’s face in the content, focussing on the preparation, sounds and textures of the sleigh rides. Looking for more rustic content, Ivy asks to visit Rhett’s cabin. A storm rolls in, trapping them until the road can be cleared, and their world shrinks to Rhett’s refuge on the mountain. Ivy and Rhett’s banter is sizzling from the get-go but as they spend time together, their connection deepens and Rhett finds himself opening up to Ivy in ways he never thought he would. As the snow recedes, and the world opens up again, neither wants to end what they have but can Rhett leave the quiet of the mountain to live more out loud with Ivy? This is a delightful short read full of wit, thoughtfulness and emotion, with a dash of steam. A great way to end your year of reading 😊

Rhett and Ivy

Ivy heads to a small mountain town in hopes of bringing awareness to their holiday festival, Snowflake Jubilee. Sponsors are threatening to back out but the small town needs the attention and crowds. Enter Ivy..and her plan to create content, which leads to videos watched and links clicked. But as soon as she gets to town, she breaks the prized sleigh. And the owner of said sleigh? Not exactly welcoming. Rhett owns Jingle Bell Rides and he is perfectly content with the quiet and slower ways of mountain life. He wants nothing to do with the hoopla of Ivy’s plan but reluctantly decides to give her a chance.

With storms brewing, Rhett chauffeurs Ivy around, but the snow thickens and they are forced back to his cabin. Then the roads are too bad to go out, so Rhett and Ivy get stuck in the cabin for a few days. Anything else…you have to read it!

Always love seeing some familiar names. What a fun holiday story. It’s joyful Ivy meets grinch Rhett. Novella, easy to read, entertaining.

This is a funny sweet story about Ivy Garland, a PR manager that has traveled to a small town about an hour away to help with the Snowflake Jubilee which is days away and the sponsors threatening to bail. If anyone can pull this off, Ivy can. As she arrives in town, she ends up crashing into the town’s prized sleigh, which is owned and operated by Rhett Ryder, and breaks one of the runners. He is known as being grumpy and doesn’t smile but every so often, you see that lip curl up a little. As she does her magic, she has to do it with no faces. As she ends up having to stay with him at his cabin after a tree fell across the road brought down by a blizzard and heavy winds, she makes the most of it. The pictures she captures and the use of sleigh bells, will she be successful to make this jubilee successful and will she end up with Rhett after they get closer staying in the cabin or will fear hold him back from what his heart desires?

What a heart felt endearing read. Ivy a PR Manager is sent to a small town to shine a spotlight on all it has to offer. They want her help in boosting their sponsorship and donations and she's the best to make that happen. When she arrives keep in mind she's from a bigger city and dresses the part so when she steps out with her fancy Hi Heeled boots and slips on black ice and falls into the towns precious sleigh and damages it Rhett catches her before she face plants but is not to happy with her. And here is where the sparks fly. I didn't see this read as a rom com honestly it was more sweet happy go lucky girl meets town grump. When she gets stuck at his cabin for a few days because of a snow storm and roads blocked she finds out who Rhett really is. Yep she cracked the cold ice around Rhett's heart and soul. Such a sweet holiday read. I'm loving all Logan Chance's reads. If you get Amazon gift cards for Christmas I would buy some of the other series. They won't disappoint.

Can a PR Elf Mend a Grumpy Bah Humbug

The Snowflake Jubilee brings PR guru, Ivy, to Chimney Gorge to revive interest in the festival. Upon her arrival, she crashes into the highly regarded sleigh. Enter Rhett who is the owner of Jingle Bell Rides and not a huge fan of the Christmas season. Ivy works her magic and convinces him to assist with making content to put the festival back on the map. Although he is a somewhat unwilling participant, he finds himself enjoying his time with her and her infectious spirit. When a storm takes down a tree blocking the road back to town, they are forced to hole up in his cabin until the roads can be cleared. Will they time together lead to mending his heart? I love the wit and humor shared between Ivy and Rhett with a pleasant wintery backdrop. A Christmas novella that can be devoured in one sitting is a must read to get your holiday romance fix. Although I have not read Chance’s work before, I look forward to finding more of his work.

Ivy Garland embodies Christmas more than anyone I know, and she’s the perfect PR person to help save the holiday in Chimney Gorge, a quiet mountain town about an hour and a half from St. Pierce. She’s there to tell stories about sleighs and bells… and that’s where she crashes—literally—into Rhett.

He’s her complete opposite: cold, closed off, grumpy. But he still lets her use him in her stories as long as she doesn’t show his face. They definitely don’t get off to a great start (she does crack his sleigh), but over time they start to warm up to each other.

Cue a winter storm and a downed tree blocking the mountain pass. Ivy has to stay with Rhett since they can’t make it down the mountain, and the two grow even closer. Rhett finds himself telling her more and more about his past. But just as things start to feel real, it all falls apart thanks to their not-so-great communication skills.

Of course, Rhett eventually pulls off a grand gesture, and everything falls back into place.

This was a quick, holiday-themed read with great characters in a charming fictional town. And you have to love the cameos from characters in earlier books. Great read!

Oh, What Fun It Is To Ride is a festive Christmas tale full of playful banter, chemistry with a little bit of candy canes and hot cocoa. This is another wonderful story by Logan Chance that you will not want to put down. Grab a cup of hot cocoa and settle in for a wonderful story that will have you giggling and wishing you were in Chimney Gorge for a sleigh ride.

Rhett and Ivy were a perfect example of when opposites attract. Ivy is a PR manager that loves to connect with everyone, and Rhett just wants to keep to himself while giving sleigh rides to the town. Ivy comes to Chimney Gorge for her job to bring more people to the small town, and a blizzard forces Rhett to see what he is missing while keeping to himself. Logan has a way of writing these characters to make you want to root for their HEA like you are part of their lives.

You should read this one today! You definitely won’t be disappointed.

This Christmas story is full of funny moments, heartwarming moments and sprinkled with some Christmas magic. The setting is somewhere you just want to go as you know you'll be happy and the people feel like old friends who would welcome you with open arms and have all your favourite things waiting for you.

Ivy was such a good character, she made me smile, Rhett was someone who hid behind a Grumpy shield but had such a good heart, he needed Ivy and his friend to remember what it was like to drop his shield. I enjoyed Ivy and Rhett come together, getting to know them and their careers, and I wanted to hug them both when things went wrong and hoped they would find a way to get what they both wanted and needed. I thought this story was written well and it's definitely one I'll read again when it shows or when I need a little Christmas magic in my life.

I absolutely loved this grumpy/shineshine holiday romance.
Ivy is a PR genius. Her attention to detail is impeccable. From every thought, every angle, and even the heat that radiates between her and Rhett comes through in her work especially after being snowed in for a couple of days.
Rhett is the owner of a horse drawn sleigh riding company who has a very grumpy disposition due to the scars from his past. His demeanor is not reflected in the way he handles himself with the public but towards his own personal life. Outside of work, he is a creature of habit and a recluse.
Ivy and Rhett share a heated spark that melts even the iciest of hearts. From start to finish, Oh, What Fun It Is To Ride will have you visiting a snow covered cabin and wearing cozy socks all while turning up the heat with a spark that never goes out.

On introduction Ivy takes Christmas to a whole different level. Yes, Rhett can actually be mistaken for Scrooge. With the name Ivy Garland, she really didn’t have a choice but to be a walking, or in her case tripping ad for Christmas and believe me, she takes it very seriously. Throw in a mountain cabin, a snow storm and wood splitting and it doesn’t take Rhett long to decide that maybe Christmas isn’t so bad after all. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Of course, they have their bumpy roads but with the entire town on her side, how could he resist. I don’t really have a favorite part, I enjoyed the entire book. Although, a mountain sleigh ride would be awesome!! Good Christmas love story. You will laugh, worry and fall in love with these wonderful characters!!

Ivy’s latest assignment is to bring attention to the Snowflake Jubilee in the hopes that it will bring tourists to their town to visit. She is unaccustomed to the weather conditions in the town and makes a less that ideal arrival which draws the ire of Rhett when she damages his sleigh.

Rhett prefers his solitary lifestyle and isn’t comfortable with publicity however events force them to spend time together. Not only is he responsible for helping her find appropriate ways to publicize the festival but the weather conspires to force them to spend together where the sparks between them turn into an inferno that neither can deny.

Ivy’s outgoing personality and optimism breaks through the walls that Rhett has built around himself as she shows him the power of love and the wonder of the holiday season as humor and heart combine.

What a delightful sweet, but also spicy Christmas Romance that allows one to relax, breath in the good cheer of the Christman season and come away with a fresh perspective. Sometimes we need a reminder to listen to the bells and breath during the hectic environment of today's holiday season. Rhett is a grumpy mountain man who has forgotten to breathe and listen to the bells even though as the town's sleigh driver his horses are the ones with the bells. Ivy Garland with her Christman themed name is sent to Chimney Gorge to help save the town's Christmas Jubilee and finds a love she never expected. Just like all great love stories, it isn't always smooth sailing but the grumpy mountain man surprises everyone in the end because Ivy is worth it.

A holiday gumpy/sunshine romance read. A standalone romcom by Chance who always delivers a well written and smooth flowing storyline. This book features main characters PR guru Ivy Garland and former military mountain man Rhett Rider. Ivy loves Christmas and the joy of people. Rhett appreciates his solitude and quiet. When these two meet, the chemistry is there even if it takes longer for walls to crumble. A snowed couple of days alone in a cabin does the trick but when a job promotion and city life come knocking on Ivy's door will Rhett sacrifice his solitude or the newfound love he's found in Ivy?

I perfect holiday romance with sweet and heat as well as a few laughs. I loved all the characters and the small-town vibe so aptly portrayed.

The beginning felt a tad rushed, but other than that? No complaints!! The writing style and level of was amazing. I was so amazed by the way the author described things. I felt like I was truly in the scenes with the characters.

I can’t wait to read more from this author!

Rhett runs a sleigh ride business in Chimney Gorge. Ivy, a PR influencer arrives and falls into one of his sleighs and damages it. She is there to promote the town's Snowflake Jubilee. In order to do that she has to persuade reclusive Rhett to film his horse drawn rides and his mountain cabin as content for the promotion. He only agrees as long as she doesn't film his face. However, while filming at his cabin a snow storm cuts them off with a tree blocking the road back down the mountain. Inevitably as Rhett and Ivy spend time together at the cabin they both open up and give into their mutual attraction to each other. But Ivy's career success threatens the path to them having a future together. Fortunately one of Rhett's friends and former colleagues manages to help him find a solution.
