Book-loving Ella Thompson joins an elite New York writing academy expecting character development on the page—not in her personal life. But between an ex who resurfaces as her surfing instructor, an impulsive punch at a rooftop party, a hiking trip gone spectacularly wrong, and an infuriatingly charming hiking coach named Eric—who just might be keeping a secret—Ella’s summer takes a turn for the unpredictable. As sparks fly and secrets unravel, Ella must navigate heartbreak, healing, and the messy magic of starting over. A laugh-out-loud romantic comedy about finding your voice, rewriting your story, and discovering that sometimes the best chapters are the ones you never meant to write—and the happiest endings are the ones you create yourself.
Ella as a character is so funny and chaotic, seeing the world through her lens was absolutely delightful. The story is sweet and reminded me of a comfy rom-com movie that I could pick up and re-read anytime I need some warm and fuzzy comfort.
This one is perfect for those who don’t want any spice, but want a little romance in their life.
Ella is a chaotic FMC she has flare, she finds her people and her love. This is a hilarious and very sweet story. I'm secretly hoping we might get into her bestie Tammy's story pretty please Neha. Must read!
3.5 stars This book has delivered a warm, messy, addictive rom-com that feels like being dropped straight into a whirlwind summer and unwillingly catching feelings right alongside Ella.
From the very first chapter, Ella Thompson’s voice hooked me, equal parts chaotic, bookish, and painfully relatable. She heads to a prestigious New York writing academy thinking she’ll be shaping fictional characters, only to find that she’s the one being shaped by heartbreak, self-discovery, terrible decisions, better decisions, and one hiking coach who has no business being this charming.
But the heart of the story is Ella. Her journey, messy, real, and sometimes painfully funny is about rediscovering her voice, owning her mistakes, healing from old wounds, and choosing what she wants instead of what she thinks she deserves. I loved that the story didn’t rush her growth. She is imperfect in the way real people are imperfect, and watching her grow felt like watching your best friend finally get her life back.
And then there’s Eric. Ella’s hiking coach has this calm, collected exterior that immediately stands out. The kind of calm that hints at something deeper simmering below the surface. He has a way of delivering sarcasm that feels almost lyrical. His presence adds a steady, magnetic pull to the story. The secret he’s holding onto adds an undercurrent of intrigue that kept me turning the pages, and when everything finally comes to light, it unfolds in a way that feels emotionally honest and aligned with the themes of healing, growth, and starting over. Rather than feeling like a dramatic twist for shock value, it fits the story’s rhythm and Ella’s journey.
This book is joyful without being fluffy, heartfelt without being heavy, and funny without trying too hard. It’s the kind of rom-com that reminds you why you love the genre in the first place.
Thank you to Neha Singla & The Naughty Nook for sending me an ARC.
I can absolutely see this becoming a comfort read for rom-com lovers.
This book was pure chaos in the best way possible! I don't think I have ever laughed so much whilst reading a book if I'm honest. With every page I read I was waiting to see what other mortifying thing would unfold in Ella's life, whether she would be running late to something important again and I also grew to love the dramatic flair with which she would handle a situation.
Our girl Ella is a walking tornado. She is funny, she has a penchant for acting a little dramatic, she has terrible luck but she is also so lovable and relatable at the same time. This girl runs off coffee, does not rise before 10am unless absolutely necessary and loves to be lost in a book whether it's one she's reading or something she is writing. She has aspirations to be an author so when she is selected to attend an elite writing academy she jumps at the opportunity and moves her life to New York for the next few months. Along the way she makes new friends, she embarrasses herself to the point where even I was having secondhand embarrassment but hey at least she's living out part of her dream. Of course the universe had to do her a little bit dirty by having her ex pop up in her life at the most inconvenient of times because why not right.
Throughout this crazy story Ella does end up falling for her nemesis who actually harbours a massive secret. I will just say I pieced together this secret the further along I got and I was genuinely hoping I was right. The banter between her and Eric aka her nemesis was honestly so funny but the sweet moments between them further in the story were also a highlight for me.
If you want a super fun and easy read definitely consider picking this one up because I promise you will be laughing the whole way through!
Spoiler Alert: I Love You is a cosy rom-com that felt like a warm, joyful breath of fresh air.
Ella travels from London to attend a writing academy in New York, and I connected with her immediately. Her slightly chaotic energy, quick wit, and tender awkwardness felt so relatable, especially for those of us whose brains move in lively and nonlinear ways. Her love for life and books shines, and even when her social energy tips her into unexpected situations, she navigates it with heart and humour.
Eric, the hiking coach brought in to support the academy’s students, has an easy presence, and I enjoyed how often their paths crossed in ways that felt natural and sweet. Their dynamic builds gently, with a soft slow burn that includes some of my favourite tropes such as he falls first, forced proximity, and hidden identity.
The humour feels grounded in Ella’s inner world, rather than at her expense, which made the story feel both compassionate and uplifting. The romance is tender rather than spicy, and I actually found that refreshing. It reminded me of a feel good Hallmark movie in book form, full of light hearted moments and warm emotional beats.
I loved the whole experience.
I received this book as an ARC, however, this review reflects my honest thoughts and feelings shared voluntarily.
This book feels like stepping into a fast, sunny summer romance that’s equal parts sweet, messy, and addictive. Ella Thompson’s voice grabbed me right away: chaotic in a charming way, a little bookish, and very much figuring herself out as she goes. She signs up for a prestigious New York writing program thinking she’s there to craft stories, and instead ends up stuck in the middle of her own. Heartbreak, questionable choices, tiny wins, big realizations. she gets all of it.
Ella’s arc is the core of the book. She isn’t polished or perfect, and that’s exactly why her journey works. The story lets her stumble, learn, and reclaim her voice at a pace that feels real instead of rushed.
Then there’s Eric, the hiking coach who is somehow calm, sarcastic, and magnetic at the same time. He brings a quiet steadiness to the chaos, and the secret he’s carrying adds just enough tension to keep the pages moving. When it finally unravels, it lands in an emotionally grounded way that supports the themes of growth and starting over.
Overall, it’s a fun, heartfelt romcom that balances humor, healing, and character depth without drifting into fluff.

Neha Singla writes with such a genuine, down-to-earth voice that it feels like you're just swapping stories with your best mate over a wine and a gossip. You can’t help but get sucked in, feeling like you’re right there with Ella, living her wild and wonderful adventures as they unfold. It’s quick-witted, clever as all hell, and so insanely relatable – a bloody good time from start to finish.
This story is hilarious, full of heart, and just downright adorable.
It’s the kind of tale that wraps you up in a cozy blanket, like your favourite rom-com flick you can watch again and again when you need a bit of warm, fuzzy happiness. No salacious spice necessary – just a sweet, charming romance that hits all the right notes.
Honestly, it’s perfect for anyone chasing a bit of light-hearted love without any fuss. Just a genuine, joyful read that leaves you smiling long after you’ve finished.
ARC Review: Spoiler Alert: I Love You by Neha Singla
Spoiler alert: I really did love this.
I’m not usually a contemporary romance reader, but this book had me laughing out loud in the most undignified ways. Neha Singla writes with such an easy, real voice that the whole story feels like you’re reading one of your girlfriend’s latest dating adventures in real time. It’s quick, clever, genuinely relatable, and just a good time start to finish.
Yes, it dips into melodrama here and there, but honestly? It only adds to the charm.
And the one-liners… perfection. I’m still thinking about Ella, our FMC, asking whether ducks have accents. That line lives in my head rent free.
Overall, a great read. Funny, heartfelt, wonderfully paced.
4 stars and a big thank you to Neha Singla for the gifted ARC!
ARC received in return for an honest review. Disclaimer: this review contains spoilers. 3.5 ⭐️ rounded up to 4 stars 0.5 🌶️
Ella is a chaotic queen, full of misfortune but a loveable mess that catches the attention of Eric! Her internal monologue that she often speaks out to herself is hilarious and often had me giggling.
Eric is handsome and annoying when he spoils book endings (like who does that?!). It’s definitely a way to make an impression to someone he’s attracted to. But he’s also the first person to rescue Ella after she’d overslept in the hiking trails.
Spoiler Alert: I Love You is an easy no spice, romance read based in NYC.
There was some downfalls in the grammar/editing but can be overlooked for some . A predictable plot twist and the ending felt a little rushed. Overall a good no spice cozy read.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 Stars — Spoiler Alert: I Love You by Neha Singla
This book was cute, but it just wasn’t for me 💛📖 The premise was sweet and I really wanted to love it, but I kept wishing for more depth, more emotion, and a bit more chemistry between the characters.
Some scenes didn’t fully land, and the pacing felt a little slow for my taste — BUT if you love a slow burn, this one might be your new comfort read 🔥💙
✨ Slow-burn lovers? Highly recommend.
✨ If you want fast-paced, swoony intensity? Maybe not.
I loved the chaotic protagonist here and the feeling of being well and truly ensconced in New York. It's like taking a little holiday within a sweet rom com. Lots of giggles, lots of swoony moments, a perfect easy read.
A cosy, feel-good romance with all the sweetness and tension you need—just without the spice. Ideal for new romance readers or those wanting something lighter between darker reads. Plus, the cover is super cute and I love supporting an Aussie author
A charming, heart-warming read that’s all about soft emotions and slow-build connection. It doesn’t rely on spice to pull you in — the chemistry and tension do all the work. Definitely more of a YA/ light romance but still entertaining.
Spoiler Alert: I love You by Neha Singla was exactly what I needed to get me out of my reading slump.
Ella is a walking disaster with a side of charm, this hilarious romantic comedy follows her journey of self-discovery and finding her tribe, with laugh-out-loud moments that will have you giggle throughout.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Author Neha Singla and The Naughty Nook for this incredible opportunity. I am truly looking forward to reading more of your outstanding work.
