I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book and I’m so glad I got to read it!

The pacing was great even with the jumps in time between the chapters, you could still follow the story easily.

The characters are fab, deep and really interesting! I’ll forever be a Kane girlie.

Overall I really enjoyed this book, the ending has left me wanting book 2 NOW!

“You are beautiful, Thea. Even when I saw you at the Lugh’s in your run-down clothes and messy hair, you were beautiful. Even the mark he left on your face couldn’t take away from the raw beauty you hold. Not only that, but you are incredibly strong for enduring everything this life has thrown at you. Wear those scars with the pride of surviving.”

I was lucky enough to receive an arc copy of Elemental Heir, thank you so much to the author.

Oh this one is a wild ride. Where do I begin?

You tell me you have an arc signup with elemental powers, fated bonds (or mates as most would know it) and mental health rep? I’m there. And it delivered!

First off, the romanceee?! Omg top tier. Her relationships with all of the boys?! I absolutely love the found family going on (especially with Leander before she met the guys). Kane is definitely my favorite though. Eros is a close second, I feel so bad for him. However, if you don’t like the why choose trope then I don’t think Elemental Heir is for you. It’s a MMFMM why choose with open spice 🌶️🌶️. So keep that in mind before you read!

The plot was great. A few things were predictable but still very entertaining, other things I didn’t see coming and was very surprised. Honestly so great, especially considering this is a debut novel!

(Author, if you happen to read this, skip this next paragraph and go to the next one after)

The only issue I had was there being constant mistakes in grammar/spelling. It was almost every page and I had to mentally correct a lot. Of course, this isn’t the final copy and I’m sure all of those mistakes will be taken care of before publishing (and of course I don’t take any stars off for grammar issues for an arc). However, this isn’t a huge problem. The story was still incredible.

Other than that issue; the plot was so good and the cliffhanger is crazy. I really did enjoy this book. I can’t wait to read the second and especially to see how it plays out after the end of the first.

“She laughs at my disbelief, a light and airy laugh that brightens up her entire face. I want to make her laugh properly, see how much light I can create for her.”

I finished this arc with a lot of enjoyment. The story is engaging and very easy to read, making it hard not to keep turning the pages.

While the plot is fairly predictable (I had already guessed part of the ending quite early on), it didn’t take away from my overall reading experience. On the contrary, the fast-paced rhythm gives the story a strong sense of momentum, especially in the opening chapters, which move straight to the point.

The FMC, although quite straightforward and sometimes lacking nuance, is still very likeable, and it’s easy to get invested in her journey. The MMCs follow the same general energy and work well together, adding an enjoyable dynamic to the story.

Overall, this was a fun, smooth, and entertaining read. A solid 3.5 stars, which I’m happily rounding up to 4, and I’ll definitely be continuing the series.

________________________________________________

Ahh!!! I was lucky to receive a ARC copy of this book, and honestly what a great read!!!

Starting strong in chapter 1 with deep emotion and action from the very first page, you immediately connect with and feel for Althea - rooting for her throughout the book!

Althea and the MMCs are incredibly lovable, in their own way - each with their quirks - and I was immediately invested in all of them. The mysteries kept me guessing, and the fast-paced, page-turning plot made it impossible to put down.

The story itself is exciting and layered with plot twists I genuinely didn’t see coming. The world-building is rich and complex without ever feeling overwhelming, and the magic system is both intriguing and easy to follow. And the mythical creatures? Absolutely gorgeous, if you love dragons and dragon-like beings, you’re in for a treat.

As a why choose dark romance with four MMCs, I found myself so invested in the relationships, and simply wanting more. However, there were a few moments where time skipped ahead, and while the story never lost momentum, I would’ve happily lingered a little longer in those in-between moments just to soak up more of their relationship growth and dynamics together as a bonded unit. A slightly trimmed beginning, and thicker mid-section of the story to build on these relationships would have been perfect!!

Overall, this was an exciting, immersive read with unforgettable characters, compelling romance, and a magical world that left me curious and excited to explore more of it in book 2!!!

If you love fast-paced fantasy with romance, mystery, secret societies, and mythical creatures, this one is absolutely worth adding to your TBR.

I was a Beta and ARC reader for Elemental Heir and I honestly had such a good time with this book.
The characters really pulled me in, especially the FMC. She’s strong, capable, and easy to root for without feeling overdone. Watching her grow into herself and find her strength felt natural and really satisfying. I also got very attached to the other characters along the way, the dynamics and relationships kept me invested the whole time.
I love how well trauma is dealt with and there is a few quotes which are really impactful, and sum up trauma beautifully!

The why-choose romance added tension and chemistry without overpowering the fantasy side of things. Each connection felt distinct and I loved seeing how each relationship developed alongside the plot. I loved the character development of each of the love interests, I definitely had a favourite though 🤓🌶
The elemental magic felt imaginative and well thought out, not just something added for effect, and wasn't like anything I had read before.

Overall, this had serious just one more chapter energy and left me really excited for what’s coming next. If you love elemental magic, strong female leads, and why-choose romantasy, add this to your TBR!!!

This book is a wild ride. I love the concept and idea of the story. Being an ARC read I know a bit more editing is to be done so I am going to be generous with the misused words and missed words. There were a few more than I typically see in an ARC read.

This is a great read over all. Very character driven. The plot is a little jumpy but it gets there.

Thea is a fun FMC who is learning who she is and growing out of the trauma of her life. I would love to see her continue to overcome things with the help she gets.

I also can't wait to see her get her revenge.

Overall I give the book a 4 because I want to see what happens next.

Spice is 3ish (FM+ but but pretty standard stuff)
Characters, solid 4 of 5. They are distinct and have varied pasts.
Plot S of 5 but only because it winds a bit around.
Story 4 of 5. Fun set up and the world is built very nicely.

ARC review:

Feminine rage, undermined FMC, why choose MMC’s

Absolutely loved this book, it took me a while to get started because I was reading other books alongside this one but the last 2 days I’ve given the book my full attention and I don’t know why I didn’t do it sooner!!

The characters are well thought out, each having their own unique back stories. FMC is an absolute badass!!! We love an underdog FMC.

The spice was SPICY, fully obsessed with all the MMC’s, definitely a full on ‘why choose’ vibe.

This book had me laughing, smiling and crying. The world building was beautiful and the magic system descriptive but easy to follow along.

I can’t wait for this book to fully release this month so others can enjoy it as much as I did.

BRING ON BOOK 2!!!!!

I was very lucky to be both a beta and arc reader for this book, and its story has left me awestruck both times.

The narrative aims to give a realistic timeline of mental health struggles and healing from multiple characters. Reading through the different perspectives and getting a glimpse at each of their struggles really puts you into the story.

Combine this with the magic and mystery of Avaloria, fast pacing and twists in every chapter and this book will grip you from start to end. You can really get lost in the story with it feeling so close to our reality.

For any dark romamtasy fans looking for their next read, be sure to give this a go!

I received an advance review copy for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Honestly I wish it was longer. I loved this book. I started reading before work one day and ended up finishing it that night!

I found that yes we knew a bit of the plot very early on but not everything we still got some good surpises. The middle plot felt mildly rushed but I still enjoyed the story and characters.

I am already looking forward to the next book to continue the story.

I had the chance to read an ARC of this one, and I’d give it a solid 3.85 stars. The plot is genuinely strong, and the character development hit all the right notes. However, the constant back-and-forth (“I want you… no wait, I don’t… actually maybe I do… but I can’t”) started to wear me down. After a while, I was sincerely tempted to reach in and give Thea a gentle but corrective slap, followed by a firm, “Please, ma’am, get over yourself.”

The story is packed with trauma, which is totally fine, but the characters’ refusal to actually talk to each other about it made the pacing feel slower than it needed to be. A single emotional conversation could’ve saved everyone (including me) a lot of time.

On the bright side, there is some well executed spice sprinkled throughout, and overall, I did enjoy the story. Not perfect, but definitely worth the read.

I received an advanced readers copy of Elemental Heir in exchange for an honest review.

This isn’t the first ARC I’ve read but it was the first ARC I applied for and received! So this book holds a special place in my heart.

I went into this book not knowing much about it so I had no expectations (pretty much how I roll with most books I read) and let me tell you, I was knocked off my feet. E. S. Lannin really blew it out of the water. I cannot recommend this book enough. I will be talking about Elemental Heir for a long time.

I was hooked right from the first sentence. This novel does an amazing job at portraying a mentally and physically strong FMC (Althea), everything she endures throughout her story is beyond what the average person would be able to go through and she continues to persevere while also showing her vulnerability. The depiction of her trauma and how she dealt with it was extremely relatable and particularly realistic. I think this was incredibly important to have shown how hard it is to deal with mental health and how you truly need to rely on others around you for support and unconditional love. The growth she experienced physically, mentally, emotionally, and with her powers was truly remarkable to read. Her going from an abusive living situation to then finding her bond and building a relationship with them was heartwarming.

There were parts that made me cry (Mina😩), I can’t believe you did that to us haha. There were parts that made me laugh (a lot of that came from Lucifer). There were parts that broke my heart (I wish nothing but the worst for the gold skull masked humans and a certain someone that was supposed to be a friend iykyk).

The betrayal is this novel is insane, I still can’t believe someone could do that to another human.😡

The love Kane, Atlas, Eros, and Lucifer have for Althea is just ugh chefs kiss 🤌🏻 the emotional bonds and physical bonds 😏 evolving over the course of the book was just utterly beautiful to read, I could barely put the book down!

A special shout out to Eirian and Argus, they were always trying to be there for Althea and Eirian pulled through in the end.

Lorelai, what a badass. I am so happy she was able to be a friend to Althea and came in fighting at the end!

I truly can’t put into words how much I loved this book and I really can’t write a review good enough for this book!

I certainly will have a book hangover for a long time. I can’t wait to read what happens next!

I am extremely grateful to have had an opportunity to read Elemental Heir and I hope everyone reading this review takes the time to check it out when it’s released on February 20th, 2026!

Thank you for selecting me to ARC read Elemental Heir. From the first TikToks I came across with snippets of this book, I knew I had to apply to ARC read it and I’m very grateful for the opportunity.

In Elemental Heir, we learn about Althea/Thea. Thea spent her life serving the Mayor of Hemlock and his family. However, one day, her affinity awakens at the perfect moment allowing her life to take an unexpected turn and she meets 4 men that will do anything to protect her.

Normally, fantasy books take time to get into because of all of the world building that needs to be done. But Elemental Heir blends it in so well within the story itself. From the first page, you know that it’s fast paced, intense and intriguing, so much so that you won’t be able to stop reading. There are also animal companions and everyone loves those.

This book is non stop, there isn’t a moment I didn’t enjoy. And that ending? What an ending! Talk about a cliffhanger… I’m already wanting the sequel. The story itself, is amazing, the descriptions of everything, is amazing, this whole book is amazing… I loved that it was fast paced and loved how the story progressed and got more and more enticing as you read on.

The evolution of the relationships between all the characters, I feel like you never truly know what they’re going to do or thinking until you get to that moment. All of the characters had me wondering and guessing who was going to do what and when and I feel they all did what they needed to do at the right time.

You get to feel for the characters as you learn all their past traumas and you’re hoping that they are able to heal. The characters, I feel have been well and truly humanised purely because of how their struggles have been written so descriptively.

Throughout the book, I’ve really enjoyed reading Thea’s journey. Going from a literal hell to well… You’ll have to read it to find out how her character develops...

First of all, I want to thank the author for giving me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book truly left me torn. On the one hand, it has great potential, on the other, I don’t feel that potential was ever fully realised.

There is a lot to enjoy here. I liked the characters, the pacing, and the overall world-building. The foundation is strong, and the concept, especially within a romantasy/why-choose framework, is compelling. However, as the story progressed, the constant back-and-forth began to weigh it down. The lack of communication between characters, particularly around their trauma, became frustrating. Emotional conflicts often lingered without meaningful confrontation or growth.

I also struggled with the dynamic between Thea and the four male leads. While all of them consistently describe her as extraordinarily beautiful and powerful, Thea’s internal monologue repeatedly diminishes herself. Instead of creating depth, this contrast began to feel repetitive. Additionally, aside from Eros (and by extension Lucifer), I found it difficult to clearly distinguish between the male leads. Their voices and characterisation sometimes blurred together.

The plot itself has strong potential, but many twists felt predictable. I often felt that the narrative over-explained emotions and motivations, leaving little room for the reader to interpret or infer. I would have appreciated more subtlety and trust in the audience.

I especially wish the MMC’s background as the lost princess had been explored further. The royal family’s history and the wider political stakes felt underdeveloped, which made the ending less impactful than it could have been.

As it stands, I found myself feeling somewhat indifferent. Which is such a shame, because the ingredients for something truly powerful are all there.

I was fortunate enough to be a Beta and ARC reader for Elemental Heir, E.S.Lannin’s debut book of the Avaloria series.

Elemental Heir, as a fantasy romance, is right up my street. I would recommend it to anyone looking to be transported to a fresh and interesting world with elemental magic, enchanting creatures and plenty of relationship building and character development.

The trigger warnings are a must to read as there are some heavier themes covered in this book. I feel they are explored tastefully and include key parts of the characters stories and motivations.

The FMC is so real and I love that about her. Throughout the book we are able to walk alongside her and the writing really does show that human struggle of emotion, flaws and the development in her courage is the absolute payoff for this.

Where this book really pops off is the character relationships. I love how each relationship in this book, romantic or otherwise, feels unique. Whether that’s shown through banter, love, lust, building trust, deception, or protection. It not only makes you as the reader care about the FMC and the four love interests but the other characters we meet along the way.

I was gripped and found this story easy to read from beginning to end and now I’m counting down the days for book two to appear. (Praying I’m lucky enough to be a BETA/ARC reader again!)

***YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK***

INSANE

I'm so honoured to have had early access to this glorious story !

I devoured this in less than 2 days, my Kindle was glued to my hand, there's not many aspects of my day this poor book hasn't seen.

I adore the multiple POVs, seeing the story from different character's perspectives is something that's missing from so many novels. It can be hard to create a great relationship between two characters, to do it with multiple is next level, I can't decide who I'm routing for most (it's Kane, duh). Lizzie has beautifully created characters that although mythical, are completely relatable. The story hits on some very hard topics but it's done in such a sensitive and emotive way, hopefully allowing anyone who can empathise to feel seen and acknowledged.

I can't wait to see where these characters' stories lead next ! I've struggled to fall back in love with reading for some time now but this book did it, my only gripe is that I need the next one NOW !

P.S. write faster please xox

I would give this book a solid 3.75! I'm super impressed with how thought out and original the plot of this book is - especially from a first time author. I read this book in two days, it was that engaging!

The only thing that brought down the rating for me was the fact that the punctuation and grammar could use some work, but it didn't take away from the plot too much. More of just a personal preference to detail for me. :)

I thought the characters were all really interesting (which is hard to do when you have so many main ones) and I finished the book wanting to know more about them! Also, the plot twists were totally unexpected imo, and I feel like I'm pretty good at sniffing those out at this point, so bravo E.S. Lannin! You kept me engaged and eager to read the next part of the gang's story. ;)

Thank you so much for the ARC!

P.S. Absolutely obsessed with how many POVs we got <3

Well, where to start?
I was lucky enough to be an ARC reader for this book and, I’m honestly blown away!

I’ll happily admit, I’m not a book girl, I don’t read often at all and find it really hard to stick with a book for more than 2 chapters…
Elemental Heir had me ENGROSSED from the get go.

The book is intense, but the story is so well covered throughout - there no ‘slow, 20 chapters before it even gets going’, you’re thrown straight in with plenty of back-stories throughout! I was hooked, absolutely loved it and just didn’t want it to end!

I can easily start a book and never touch it again after a chapter, I’m a TV girl through and through but I was reading this every night after work, every morning with a coffee in bed!

Just wow.

5 star rating - why choose, feminine rage, and traumantasy!

I had the honor and pleasure of being a beta reader for this book last year and it left my jaw hanging open. Now to read it again as an ARC read is leaving me with the same reason.

This why chose traumantasy is a true gem and deserves so much love.

Every character is amazing and just like the FMC Thea you can't choose between the MMCs as to who is your new book boyfriend.

Kane, Lucifer, Atlas and Eros all have a place in my heart and I need to know more about them.

I crave the second book so much and I can't wait for it!!

E.S Lannin thank you for such an amazing debut novel and giving us the world of Avaloria!!

Everyone needs to read this!

ARC review :) This book! Omg it just takes out your heart and stomps it. Our fmc Thea has been through sooo much that I just wanted to reach through the screen and give her a hug. Thea is a servant in household that to put it mildly is not nice to her until she finally escapes and finds her four bonds, our mmc’s. Atlas was my fav but they were all so good.
The twists at the end were sooo good too and I totally didn’t see them coming so I really hope we don’t have to wait too long for book 2! I loved this book tho and would even sneak read it during my work breaks as I just had to know what happened next! If you’re into dark, fantasy RH books this is for you!

Whew! That was a bonafide tear jerker! I had to put a box of tissues next to the couch because there were just so many beautiful emotional moments in this book. Unbeknownst to Althea, she is the lost princess to the realm’s throne. She’s been hidden away for her entire life not knowing of the extent of her elemental abilities.

The book ends on a major cliffhanger, so get ready! Can’t wait to see where the story goes in book two!

This story took me on a full rollercoaster of emotions. The horrors that Thea lives through on a daily basis are heartbreaking. I loved learning about the bonds and how different they each are and really want to know more. More about the horrors they each went through in their own lives. I loved the evolution of Eros. I am looking forward to the next story to see how this continues. This one ended on a cliffhanger with some heartbreak and left me with a lot of questions.

This story line is fantastic. I loved it so much. The bond that these 5 have plus all of the strength that Thea has. It's like reading a whole new fantasy/sexy book. Also, this book had a great detail in each chapter and described the characters to perfection. I loved this book!! I can't wait for the next one!! In the book there is a few scenes in there that may cause some triggers so please read before hand.

4.75 ⭐️ The fact that I have to wait a while before book two makes me so sad!! I absolutely loved the characters, and loved the story! The start of this took me a bit to get into honestly, but once I was in it I was obsessed, and with all the different twists along the way I was sitting with my jaw on the floor. Definitely worth the read!!
