BRICK She came to us for protection. I sent her away.
Cam was a storm at the mouthy, fearless, and desperate. I saw attitude, not fear. Ego got the better of me… and now she's barely holding on, dumped on our doorstep by the man I should’ve protected her from.
Her ex is a monster. And I might be worse for doing nothing.
Now she’s healing in our world. A world of brotherhood, violence, and blood loyalty. She’s not a club whore. She’s not a victim. She’s something else entirely, strong, sharp, and dragging me into feelings I’ve never let myself have.
I’m not good at softness. But I’d burn the world to keep her safe.
The Black Saints have a protect the innocent, punish the wicked. And this time I’m making it right.
This is a quick read just 108 pages on Kindle. Cam is in an abusive relationship and goes to the MC Black Saints as she had heard they help women. Brick is the one who comes to the gate and because she has a bit of an attitude he tells her to leave. Later that night she is pushed from a car at the gates and Brick is guilt ridden because he sent her away and her boyfriend has beaten her to within an inch h of her life. Brick vows to protect her after he was the one who sent her away to be beaten so badly, this starts a slow process of Cam recovering and navigating where she now belongs. I loved Prez from the moment he shot Brick down telling him he messed up and should have helped Cam immediately. The only niggle I had was I had read loads of MC books and the men always ask their women to use their real names but we never find out any of the MC men’s real names which is usual. It’s a fast romance once they make their minds up.
Summer Winters kicks off her new Black Saints MC Portland Chapter with Brick, a gritty, adrenaline-fuelled MC novella that grabs you from page one and doesn’t let go. When Cam turns up at the gates of the Black Saints desperate for help, Brick shuts her out—and that single moment becomes the spark that ignites this fast-paced, high-stakes story.
You might not warm to Brick straightaway—he’s stubborn, hard-edged, and every bit the classic MC bad boy. But as the layers peel back, Winters delivers the kind of raw vulnerability and unexpected heart that transforms him from frustrating to unforgettable. By the end, you’ll have fallen for him hook, line, and biker.
Book 1 of 6 in the Black Saints MC Portland series, Brick promises a dark, gritty, emotional MC ride—and sets the tone for what looks to be an addictive new chapter in the Black Saints world.
Sorry but no. The romance was actually so far removed from reality. This dude turns away a visibly bruised and battered woman asking for help all while a history of experiencing domestic violence himself. Disgusting. I don’t think Brick actually deserved a second chance and frankly Cam was not smart to give this dude the time of day after what he did, but I guess being desperate for a man gets you to do the craziest things. Honestly Brick was almost as bad the woman beater boyfriend seeing as he bulldozed his way into her life after seeing what he sent her back to.
Additionally, why the heck would you go back to the same place that turned you away after getting beat within an inch of your life instead of a hospital? The light is on upstairs but no one is home. Truly this h was begging to die.
Ok, let’s talk positives: I genuinely liked it. Overall, it was a good, quick read. Well written. Considering how a lot of MC books are, it was pretty clean. There wasn’t, as far as I’m concerned, any graphic intimate interactions. Even the violence was muted - Ralph is the worst.
With that said… It wasn’t my favorite MC read. We don’t even know Bricks real name, don’t ask me why that bothered me because I don’t know. It was short so the timeline felt rushed and it had more of a cute/feel good vibe. If it was a grovel to HEA there wasn’t much grovel but a ton of HEA. Which honestly could get added to the positives because I love me a good HEA.
This is the first in a new series, and this is Brick and Cam’s story. Cam is desperate for help and approaches the MC for protection, but Brick sends her away, only for her to be dumped on their doorstep by her monster of an ex. This is a well written, raw, gritty, and emotional story, with found family, friendships, emotions, loyalty, tension, vulnerability, healing, and undeniable chemistry, which leads to an entertaining unpredictable, and twisted addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this author whose work I recommend.
A good start to a new series, Brick kicks off the Black Saints MC: Portland Chapter. A fast paced read, Cam goes to Brick for help with her situation, but Brick sends her away. The next time he sees her, it's in a crumpled heap, now he will make up for sending her away, even though keeping her around makes him feel things he was trying to avoid in the first place. The only problem, is will Cam forgive him for not helping when she asked? A nice way to start the series, giving us drama, danger, violence, and a bit of chemistry, I give Brick and Cam 4 stars.
New author to me but gave to say I enjoyed her style of writing and thoroughly enjoyed the book. Brick and can find each other when she hits a brick wall and he fails to help her. Fast forward and he’s there for her all the way. Love me the retribution and the romance. Good read.
This was the best quick read I’ve had in so long. Been on the rough dark romance train for some time and had a reading block so this definitely helped.
I enjoyed the book. There were just a few spots where they kept repeating the same line and the annoys me and the secondary characters didn't get developed enough for me to make me want to read the next book.
2.5 stars. Brick did a total 180 from first meeting Cam and refusing to help her with her abusive boyfriend, to claiming her as his old lady. There was no relationship development, not even insta love to explain their coupling.
