Stock Picker: How to develop the mindset, temperament, and strategy to outperform Wall Street

Ian Cassel had never had a normal job, never worked for a big firm, and, sometimes struggles to even screw in a lightbulb. But give him a list of a thousand small stocks, and he can pick out the next
winners.

Stock Picker is part personal journey, part manifesto for financial independence, and part collection of lessons learned while chasing greatness in stock picking. You'll discover why investing is less about beating others, and more about buying freedom for yourself.

Through luck, failure, discipline, and reinvention, Cassell built a career, first as a full-time private investor, and now as a fund manager. His story proves you don’t need billions or Wall Street prestige, just enough capital, conviction, and patience to live life on your own terms.

Begin your journey to financial freedom now.

If you like reading books about investing and have read a lot of them, you know that it's tough to find new books that bring new things to light in a nice storytelling way. Stock Picker is such a book. The author writes in an authentic and personal manner and shares stories and lessons about his and other investors' journeys with candor and depth.

A MUST READ OF ANY INVESTOR

Great book, very personal and insightful. Being a stock picker myself for many years, I found many recognisable lessons and paths for experience-building; it felt like reading my own story of ups and downs, successes and failures. Highly recommending for anyone who invests on their own, not just buying third-party funds.

Great book written with the wisdom of experience!

There are many investment books out there, and this is one of the better ones. I recommend it to anyone interested in an honest and authentic take on the challenges of stock picking, from an experienced and passionate investor.

As with so many investing books, if you take the advice and apply it beyond investing, you could become a great compounder of goodness. Ian’s clear thinking really shines through in how he puts this book together. It feels like sitting down for lunch with a great mentor. Make sure to bring your notepad.

I finished it wanting to spend less time collecting more information and more time doing the work. Read, think, investigate, and build the conviction to act. Then have the humility to keep questioning that conviction. A book I’ll come back to. Hopefully with a few lessons actually applied by then.

A great look into investor psychology. The auther is both specific to his investing problem and provides insights that are general to all investors. The emotional explorations, particularly the self doubt discussions, are everpresent in investing and life. The author leaves nothing on the table and reminds us there is not silver bullet and hard work is the only reliable advantage we can have.
