Alien Quest: Throne

Rate this book
“Masterfully blends hard science fiction with metaphysical wonder...” A far distant, Eden-like world that few humans know about and fewer still know its secrets.
Angelus is home to two sapient species and a mushroom-like fruit that prevents aging. The astute, friendly Wombies (aka Ch’tel) resemble bipedal koalas and are telepathic. The Àdain, the world’s rulers, are spirit Beings who sometimes appear as angels. When humans discovered their world 50 years ago the Àdain foresaw that most of the paths spreading out into the future from that point in time would end in disaster for their planet. But there was one path in which a mutually beneficial living symbiosis could blossom between the two species. The Àdain set about finding a pair of suitable human symbionts.

Ciarán Rhys, Captain of the interstellar trade-ship Northern Star and Triya Noeh, his First Officer and sometimes lover, are youthful traders who have found in each other a common the search for a mystery world that has been in their dreams and visions from childhood. In time, a lucrative contract to ship equipment to Angelus sparks their interest and they take it on, not realizing that the move will forever change their lives.

Powerful entities, both human and supernatural, will do all in their power to prevent Ciarán and Triya from securing their destiny. In the end victory will not come from force of arms or magic powers but from the cementing of a human love between them that dares to let each other blaze their own trail. A trail that for all they know might end all that they have known of each other. A trail that not even the Àdain know for sure where it will lead.
