She reads minds for a living. He’s the one man she can’t decode.
Clio Ambrosia’s uncanny gift for reading people has made her the secret weapon of New York’s power players. Known as the human lie detector, she’s built her career decoding powerful CEOs and coaching top performers. A former figure skating prodigy turned executive coach, she’s sharp, strategic, and impossible to rattle. But when a cutting-edge tech firm hires her to refine their emotional intelligence strategy, she meets Dillon Whelan, the one client her instincts can’t predict.
Dillon Whelan built his success on logic, precision, and control. But Clio’s insight threatens to upend everything he believes about leadership, and love. Their boardroom sparring crackles with wit and tension, each conversation a duel neither wants to lose.
As professional lines blur and trust deepens, both must decide if love is worth risking the armor they’ve spent years perfecting. What begins as a razor-sharp war of words turns into a slow-burn romance that sweeps them from a glittering New York gallery and a tense escape room to a moonlit gala and the historic streets of York, England; blurring the lines between ambition and heart.

Mind Reader is a heartfelt romance dealing with healing and character growth. I really enjoyed the corporate backdrop and psychological nature of this story. It was a different pace and vibe than the romcoms I’ve been reading, but I was here for it! I loved watching Clio and Dillon pull back their layers and slowly let the other in. Cooney crafted both of them with depth and difficult backstories that shaped their characters. I also enjoyed Dillon’s protective nature and Clio’s strength. The romance was sweet and swoony, too, and I loved the ending!
The audiobook narrators were wonderful! At first I was a little confused by the female narrator’s accent. It wasn’t that the accent was bad - I just didn’t realize until further into the story that the character was meant to have one. Once I realized and got used to it, I was able to fully immerse myself in the story. The intonation and expression from both narrators brought vibrancy to the entire listening experience. Both voices were easy to listen to and I definitely recommend this audiobook for fans of clean, swoony romance!
Intimacy: Sweet kisses only Language: None Content Considerations: Grief, Death of a loved one (past), Complicated family dynamics
Mind Reader is the first book I have read written by Mimika Cooney, and it had me hooked right from the start.
I had the pleasure of listening to the audiobook. It is a Dual Narration narrated by Melissa Connell and Neill Thorne. They did a great job of bringing the story to life.
Clio’s ability to read people, like a human lie detector, was very interesting. She has learned this out of necessity to guard herself. As we unwrap the layers of Clio Ambrosia, we find there is more to her. Dillon is trying to build technology that reads micro expressions. That is when he hires Clio to help his company. Though in the wrong hands, this technology could be devastating. Clio sees this and agrees to help keep this out of the wrong hands. Through it all, we get a deeper look at Dillon and his walls. As they work to finish the technology, someone is trying to come in and take over. With forced proximity, Dillion and Clio open up to each other and their hearts.
There were a few moments when I had to go back because I missed something.
This enemies-to-lovers romance is clean, with kisses only.

Book blurb?: She reads minds for a living. He’s the one man she can’t decode.
One of my favorite quotes: “I finally understand this kind of love doesn't wait till you're ready, it waits till you're real…and then it stays. That's the kind of love we chose. And this time we are not running. “- Cleo

My Review: First and foremost I want to say thank you to @Skipthespice and Mimika Cooney for allowing me to be a part of The Mind Reader AudioBook Review Tour. I appreciate this opportunity. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I rate this book a 4.5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ In the beginning I was a tad confused by what was going on. I think perhaps because I did not quite understand due to the many different accents. Then I didn't understand fully what Dillion Whelans job nor What Cleo's was but after delving in deeper into the story I comprehended what was going on. At first I thought Cleo was a psychic but boy was I wrong. I was very impressed with how she is a human lie detector. I thought that was so cool. I loved her group of friends and how they are all part of the group text. I felt like I was part of the group listening to all the Tea that was going on. Then comes the relationship between our MMC and our FMC. I absolutely loved Dillion and Cleos banter and how clearly they were in to each other. I am a sucker for a good enemies to lovers romance story. I love how they both learned to break down those walls and learn how to be loved. I would have liked to have seen a bit more faith related aspects in the story but thats just me. All in all I enjoyed it and I look forward in reading more books by Mimika Cooney.
I really enjoyed this book! I have never deliberately sought out a “clean” book free from spice and language. And to be honest, I was not sure what to expect. Leave all your pre-conceived notions behind! This book packs an emotional punch that feels truly authentic.
I also really enjoyed the workplace romance aspect of this book. This is NOT normally a trope that I enjoy because it can easily start to feel icky. I enjoyed learning about the project that Clio and Dillon were working on. The arguments they had over the integrity of the project and how to responsibly use the technology was very interesting to learn about.
Both Clio and Dillon have past traumas and baggage they have to work through - but it was refreshing to see two adults work through their differences and break down the walls that were keeping them from making lasting connections with people.
I LOVED the female friend group. All the messages that they would send were witty and charming!
I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good rom-com!

Thank you to author Mimika Cooney and Mimika Media for the advanced reader's copy of this audiobook in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
This audiobook was very well done, the woman’s voice even sounded just as the MFC’s voice was described. Male voice was on point, too.
This story had the most emotionally deep characters I’ve encountered. Not only was it a “romance” but the mental and emotional struggle to overcome was on point in a way some books leave out. The unraveling process for each character came with a deep understanding of their weaknesses before healing, total green flag. The additional MBTI mention was gold, and created a richness to the collaboration between main characters and locked in their communication pattern. Well done!
Well written, well executed in narration. The story carried me through from beginning to end- I felt their pain, ache, and love jump right off the page.
I have two pages of highlights- there are some really great nuggets! Not just from the conversation between the characters, but for love and life too.
I’m really looking forward to the next several books in this series, I really enjoyed Clio & Dillion’s story and this author’s writing style. A+ on narration!
Loved this book! I was confused by the accent at first, but after a chapter in, I loved it! The narrators voices were awesome and easy to listen to! I enjoyed the story and felt like they were talking to me! Just let go and feel love and acceptance! It is a really beautiful story! Enjoy!!
I was given a copy from the author and listened on Audible! All thoughts and opinions are my own!
