Drunk dancing in your reindeer pajamas WILL summon your fated mates.
And possibly a judgmental llama.
My Christmas plan was Get out of the city and away from my demanding alpha-hole boss, and spend some time bonding with my family in the grand cabin in the cozy little town of Snowflake Valley. I’d spent weeks planning, packing, and preparing to capture every picture-perfect moment.
The reality? Everyone got sick on a cruise from hell. I'm alone, drunk, and having a one-woman dance party that includes interpretive twerking to "White Christmas."
I awaken the next morning only to find that I drunkenly invited a large alpha and his beta boyfriend to stay with me during the holidays.
Merry Christmas to me.
This is a why-choose omegaverse romance with small-town Christmas vibes, found family feels, and a llama who's judging ALL your life choices— a "hot mess" omega, three devoted mates, and cozy holiday magic.
J. Ever writes paranormal stories with big hearts, big laughs, and even bigger... well, you know ;-)
She's been writing for years but never had the courage to publish, and she's truly grateful to everyone who takes a chance on one of her books.
When she's not creating stories, she's reading (obvs), drooling over book boyfriends, laughing at her own jokes (which happens a little too frequently), and very often (especially since this book was published), doing uncoordinated dance moves while cradling her fluffy cat because she's so happy to be writing full-time.
Thank you for being here, taking a chance, and helping her dream of being an author come true.
Peppermint Pines Pack is the second book in the Seasons of the Pack series by J. Ever. I fell in love with the first book of this series, Pumpkin Patch Pack, so there was no question I would read the next one. This is a fun, silly, sweet, steamy, why choose, alpha/omega romance that I enjoyed so very much. The bonus of it all is Oxford, the Llama. The fact that Oxford gets chapters from his own point of view is the icing on the cake! I’ve never fallen in love with a llama before but I have now!
Melody Winters is an omega. She lives in the city, working as a personal assistant to a VERY demanding boss who has no boundaries. He calls her at all hours of the day and night needing her help with something. She lives alone in a tiny apartment and has no social life since she doesn’t have time for one. She’s a people pleaser which has been what she has always been taught is what a good omega is. She’s exhausted and unhappy.
She’s been planning her two week vacation to Snowflake Valley for weeks. She rented a huge six bedroom cabin and her entire family including relatives is supposed to be there. Except that they all went on a cruise before the vacation and all got sick. So she’s alone in her Christmas vacation rental, along with a bottle of wine she had planned to share with her dad. A lot of wine, a lot of dancing, rescuing a lost llama and more drinking with the llama’s human family, who is also the owner of her rental, leaves Melody with a very big hangover, and some new roommates she doesn’t remember inviting to stay with her.
Everett Pine is the rental owner and also the owner of a huge Christmas Tree farm. His best friend, Gabe, and Gabe’s boyfriend, Finn are visiting from the city. Gabe is helping Everett with the Christmas rush. Finn is hilarious. He kept me smiling throughout the story. Everett and Gabe are alpha’s while Finn is a beta.
Melody’s vacation certainly turns out differently than she thought. She finds herself surrounded by two alphas that she is overwhelmingly attracted to, and Finn who she also feels pulled towards. And a llama who has become her shadow and also her friend. Melody is also finding her voice. Being away from her boss who is still trying to control her from a distance, experiencing life in a way she never has before, and yes, even the llama is helping to make her see that she wasn’t really living before. But here, in this snow covered paradise, maybe she has found the life she was always meant to lead.
This really was so much fun. There was also just a little bit of suspense thrown in. Was it silly, yes it was. But it made me happy and got me out of my head for awhile. If there are any future books in this series, I’m definitely all in.
I’m super lucky that Elizabeth’s always willing to BR one of these with me!
Cozy and sweet omegaverse with Christmas vibes and some interesting shenanigans, but unfortunately this book didn’t feel as right as the first one by this author. I was thrown out of the story a few times, as mentioned below. It will still give you warm fuzzies and have you giggling, but you might side-eye some aspects along the way too.
Written in first person, multi-POV (each of the mains and a llama). No ow/om drama. All of them seemed experienced and no manwhore vibes from the guys. No mention of any relationship history other than two of the Hs being in a pre-existing, committed relationship for a few years.
Some tropes/themes: ☆ Why choose - MMFM ☆ Omegaverse ☆ FMC in town on vacation ☆ Omega FMC, two Alpha MMCs, and a Beta pack member who’s just as valued ☆ Scent matches/fated mates ☆ THE BEST LLAMA EVER ☆ Llama psycho-analyzing may cause you to consider your own quirks ☆ Twerking ☆ Small town ☆ Holiday activities ☆ A Christmas tree sub-plot that was frankly confusing ☆ FMC grows a backbone ☆ Low angst, no third act break-up
Melody (h) has rented a house in a small town for her family to come celebrate the holiday. She’s effectively chained to her work and is a people-pleaser, so it’s extra disappointing when her family aren’t able to meet her there because they’re sick from a cruise they went on ahead of the vacation…which made no sense. Now Melody’s in a big house that’s all tricked out for the holidays, alone. Thankfully, she has to return a wandering llama to the hot property owner. Where she also meets his attractive and intriguing friends, in town to help him balance his family business. Attraction and connection ensue.
I enjoyed each of the main characters, but I didn’t love the dynamics of the romantic elements. Melody gelled the best with Everett (the property owner) and Elizabeth pointed out that this story would have worked well with just him. The other two MMCs, Gabe and Finn, were such a cute couple on their own and such a strong unit. Melody has moments where she builds relationships with them, however hers with Finn felt more like a friendship. Hers with Gabe didn’t feel as individually strong because of how the bonding scenes played out, typically with Finn in the background vs emphasizing more one-on-one time with Melody. It’s hard to balance pre-existing relationships with new relationships in a why choose story and I think this book didn’t nail it.
I’d label the story as a slow burn and there are a couple of steamy scenes, including one with all three guys. It does have knotting and slick, but no heat. The first physically intimate scene however threw up red flags for me. It follows an intimate scene just between Gabe and Finn that Melody witnesses. Then she dreams about sexy times between them and wakes up literally between the guys, dry humping…before they’ve discussed anything. The fact that the guys were aware and she wasn’t at first hit wrong for me. She panicked at first because she thinks she forced her attentions on a LOVING COUPLE. The other scenes are clearly consensual, the group scene still didn’t quite work for me.
What did work were the more holiday/wintery themed activities. There’s a card game close to the start that builds a bit of tension. They have a snow war that has a fun side and they go ice skating, which gives them some bonding. These scenes and relationship-focus are interspersed with Melody beginning to grow and stand up for what she wants and with a sub-plot that plays out with Christmas trees, a bad guy, and a touch of action at the climax. That sub-plot did feel odd and forced, especially when the whole town gets involved. It was so puzzling to me. Other puzzling things occurred too that I sometimes wasn’t sure if they were errors or intentional choices by the author.
Melody does grow, which was awesome. Oxford, the llama, also shows tremendous growth. The guys didn’t have to grow imo, but they do have to make adjustments in relation to them finding their omega and taking steps towards becoming a pack. Even though I felt like the climax was chaotic, they do work together and the town also embraces them as a group. The epilogue is their HEA, a year later, updating on how they’re living together and adapting. Family’s in town for Christmas, Oxford is adorable, and it’s sweet. Oxford even gets a last POV epilogue to put a cherry on top, he won this book.
OMG, you are doing yourself a disservice if you don't read this wonderful tale.
I read J. Ever's Pumpkin Patch Pack and fell in love with the characters and her writing style. If I thought Pumpkin Patch Pack was good, this one is so much better, and that is saying a lot. It is the second book in the Omegaverse and a wonderful read that you can not put down until you finish.
Peppermint Pines Pack is another feel-good standalone tale that will have you laughing out loud. The story is written in multiple POVs, including Oxford the llama, who, along with his trusty sidekick Omega Melody, and the witty, sarcastic beta Finn, steal the show.
This amazing read is fun, sweet, witty, hilarious, nonsensical, and steamy, and the characters are to die for. I can't wait for more
I adored this book. Oxford is an absolutely distinguished gentleman of a Llama. if this entire book had been told in Oxfords pov, I still would have rated it 5 stars. I really enjoyed the characters and the relationship and the pure chaos of a plot line. It was light hearted and fun and it made me wish for a Llama companion to spit on my enemies and defend my honor. I will read ever thing this author writes and enjoy every chaotic second of it.
Everyone needs a Christmas llama, but I’m fairly certain I need 2 of them. I never suspected an anthropomorphized llama to be so entertaining but now I wonder why one doesn’t exist in every book.
Omg Having POV from a llama jusy made an already lovely story, absolutely perfection. Oxford completely takes this fun and sweet omegaverse story and elevates it to brilliant and hilarious. Our characters are sweet, brave and fun. This was such a lovely read and I truly recommend it. I want all my books to include a llama now.
I loved this cozy and sweet omegaverse Christmas read. Oxford the llama was one of my favorite parts! Such a cute little gentlemen. I loved that we got his POV a few times. I really enjoyed the characters and the chaos of a plot! This is my second read by this author and I have loved both books! Such great reads!
I don’t like her boss I don’t like her aunt and I don’t the mayor but i absolutely loved everyone else especially the handsome lama oh and Charlie lol.
I adored Pumpkin Patch Pack so was super excited with my friend RL was up for a buddy read of this one. It starts off sad with Melody learning her whole family caught some flu on a cruise and they are unable to join her for a 2-week holiday over Christmas.
It quickly turns cute when we meet Oxford, a very dignified therapy llama, who has a LOT of thoughts about mental health and appropriate behavior. When he comes to Melody's vacation rental, she ends up taking him home and meeting her future pack.
This had everything that SHOULD have made a super adorable and cozy story over Christmas. Cute llama, fun new friend, hot alphas, and the beta boyfriend who is happy to connive to make things happen. Sadly, however, there were a lot of elements that fell flat.
1. The relationships. I usually enjoy a polycule that has a few interconnected relationships. But in this one, we have a long-standing romance between Gabe and Finn, a long friendship (only) between Gabe and Everett, and things just don't connect quite right when Melody is brought in. Finn reads very gay, as in he notices how hot Everett is... but notices how Melody and Gabe are attracted to each other. He doesn't seem to be attracted to Melody directly, though there's a very cringy sex scene where he's completely into her (sort of) while getting railed by Gabe. It didn't feel like he and Melody had a romantic connection and it ended up feeling SUPER awkward when the author took us there. It would have felt more natural if he and Everett had started a romantic relationship.
2. The backstory/secondary plot. I appreciate the author trying to create some mystery and adventure, but the villain and his villainy was bizarre. Together with a "we're saving Christmas" by cutting down trees with axes (and not chainsaws... but why not just saws?), there were so many small elements that felt under researched. Towns don't just "merge" because a mayor wants them to... and why he would want them to makes no sense. He may not be mayor if the towns merged because his constituent base would be severely affected.
3. The family and other background. I love the heroine's desire to deep dive into fun. She has plans for her family. But, right away, the author introduces a family that is neglectful and borderline abusive and then at the end, it's like nothing happened. In the beginning we hear that they all went on a cruise without her. Before a 2 week family vacation!? Makes no sense. And her aunt treats her like crap. Her boss treats her like crap. But, she grows a backbone overnight, sasses the local mayor, and becomes known as the "twerking omega". Uh... what just happened?
There were some things I really liked... like Everett's and her first date. SO SO CUTE! And I'm so jealous. I love the idea.
It's a cute book, but, as RL said to me, has some red flags. I'll still look out for future books by this author because there's a lot to enjoy.
Safety deets. - No mention of any past lovers for any of them. Finn and Gabe are in a relationship and they talk about including others in it as a pack. - No discussion of disease or pregnancy before sexy times. I was rather disturbed that they barely know each other and have sex bare with no discussion. - They get their happily ever after and the llama, Oxford, is included.
Melody is overworked and looking forward to the two weeks of vacation she has to relax with family over the holidays. But fate has other plans for her. Her family got grossly sick on a holiday cruise and won't be making it for any of the festivities Melody has planned. Plus, her boss is just THE WORST and can't do anything on his own and he keeps calling her to help him with "extremely important" things. Like finding a file Melody left on his desk for him.
Seriously, THE WORST.
While Melody's family plans look to be a bust, things aren't entirely dire. Her first night in Snowflake Valley has her walking a llama home and drunkenly twerking for her neighbors. She also invites two of her new friends to stay at the massive cabin she rented since it's just her and more rooms than she needs. And let's just say that drunken Melody isn't shy about telling these men (two alphas and a beta) how much she likes the way they smell.
Anywho. On the other end of things, Everett is dealing with an emergency situation with his family business that is running him ragged. Gabe and Finn have come to help him. And they ALL like the sweet little omega who has charmed Everett's grandmother's llama and looks at them with serious heart eyes.
A llama who can read people like a book, a shady mayor, three men who are more than willing to give pack life a chance, and an omega who has to learn when to say no and how to follow her heart. *thumbs up*
I rarely write reviews, and even signed back in after a years long hiatus to write this review.
I am absolutely shocked that this is labeled a cozy book when there is a SUPER questionable consent scene.
SPOILER AHEAD: FMC is all hot and bothered and "having a dream" about grinding on the MMC in bed while another MMC watches on. Turns out it wasn't a dream and she was actually in their bed dry humping. She was mortified and said she doesn't even remember coming in the room. And yeah the MMCs could have stopped her if they didn't consent, but they thought she was awake! So honestly it was technically non consensual for the FMC because she thought she was dreaming. That is just so skeevy and gross. I'm shocked that kind of consent line flirting is in a cozy book.
Ok, that was the most adorable thing ever. Melody is all alone this Christmas at a cabin after her family gets sick and quarantined on a cruise ship. Her boss is a menace and can’t do anything without her. Then she gets drunks, meets Oxford the llama, twerks in front of two alphas and a beta at a bonfire, and her life is changed. It’s so much fun watching her gain confidence and find love. Plus there’s chapters from the llamas perspective and Christmas tree theft. And for once in an omegaverse, no sudden heat spike. Just super sweet and spicy holiday romance with a dash of heroics and plenty of antics
I absolutely adored this book. It was absolute perfection, and the best holiday Omegaverse read. It was cozy and sweet, with lots of small town shenanigans. And a llama! Oxford, the llama, literally stole the show. He was quite an amusing part of this story and made this book an excellent read!
Melody, the FMC, was quite the omega. She was funny and didn’t take much too seriously. Her character was extremely well written and her story was super fun to read. I loved her dynamic with Oxford, along with her alphas.
Overall, this was a super fun holiday Omegaverse book.
This book was truly just super cozy Christmas themed fluff (in the best way). It’s was surprisingly a pretty slow burn for there being almost zero angst. I kind of wish there was a bit more relationship development for the length of the book, it was a bit surface level for the amount of time we spent with the MCs. Overall though, super cute, super cozy, and the llama stole the “show”. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️.5

I think we all need an Oxford the Christmas Llama in our life! I thought the chapters from Mable in the first book were my favorite but I loved reading Oxford’s chapters even more!
This story was the perfect light and fun Christmas read! It felt so cozy and wonderful and I now wish I lived in snowflake valley! I loved the storylines and the characters and that the problem of the story was less about the pack and more about the town and the packs business. Such a good cozy holiday read!
I wasn’t sure if the pumpkin book could be topped but by gosh this book was amazing! I loved it so much a quick and fun cozy winter read. Oxford was 100% amazing. I was cracking up and our FMC was too cute and fun. I loved seeing her come into herself and learn to be outside the omega perspective. Absolutely an amazing and fun read for the winter season. I also loved how it wasn’t just a pack of alphas.
Okay you deffo got me on this one, it was so much better than the first one. The pack actually felt like they meshed and like they got to know each other so well that by the end it made so much sense for them to be together Also POV of the llama was everything I loved that. I loved that book so much my only qualm was it was too short! I wanted more of this book!
I picked this up expecting a cute Christmas read and instead got absolute festive madness but in the best way possible. An omegaverse romance…at Christmas…with a llama named Oxford who fully steals the show?? I was not prepared. The humor had me actually laughing out loud (especially every scene with Oxford, that llama is a menace and I love him).
this book is so sweet and funny! Oxford is the best character ever!! this book is everything christmas, romance, comedy, and some heat! characters are super lovable and overall a great read
This story honestly gets 5 stars from me, when considering enjoyment. It’s an adorable Christmas romcom that managed to be an over-the-top holiday story without going so far as to be cringey. My only complaint is with notable editing issues. There were many instances of partial use of quotation marks, confusing paragraph structure, and repeated sentences.
Seriously utter perfection I adored maple the goat but now I’ve made room for Oxford the Christmas/therapy llama 🤣🤣🤣🤣 like with out them the books were still really really good but with them makes it top tier perfection now 🤣🤣🤣 I can’t wait to see what crazy animals she brings to life for spring and summer.
This book was so dang cute and sweet. I ADORED Oxford, and this book is definitely going to be a seasonal (and possibly out of seasonal) read every year. Cozy, with just a hint of outside drama that’ll keep your attention. I’m obsessed.
This is a great seasonal omegaverse. It was lighthearted, tongue in cheek and had great characters including a very droll llama. I laughed out loud at a few scenes, accidental Alpha Toboggan anyone? Highly recommend if you want some seasonal cheer
Love these two books I now not only need a goat but how do I get myself a llama .. fun books love the animals as part of the story telling .. lovely afternoon read
What a cute cozy yet full of fun and laughter book! 4+ stars. I’m smitten with our therapy llama, the scarves and what he does to the mayor oh my goodness did I laugh out loud!
This book was a treat... just pure fluffy goodness! I laughed throughout the book. I did enjoy how the FMC emerged from the shadow of everyone else's expectations.
