This book was an absolute treat! If you are learning French and want a break from standard textbook dialogues, Arsène Lupin is the perfect escape. It feels less like studying and more like enjoying a good mystery series.

The Good:
The "Fun" Factor: Unlike some graded readers that can feel a bit dry, the story here is genuinely engaging. Lupin is charming, witty, and the heists are fun to follow. It kept me turning the pages, which is the best way to learn!
Perfect Leveling (A2-B1): The transition from A2 to B1 can be tricky, but this reader bridges it well. The grammar is accessible (mostly present and passé composé), but it introduces enough "mystery" vocabulary (words like coffre-fort, indice, vol) to expand your lexicon without being frustrating.
Short Chapters: Because the original format was episodic, the chapters in this reader are distinct and manageable. You can finish a whole "adventure" in one sitting, which gives a great sense of accomplishment.

Critique:
Simplified Plots: Since these are condensed versions of clever heists, some of the complex twists are straightened out to keep the French simple. Occasionally, this makes Lupin’s "genius" solutions seem a little too easy or convenient compared to the original unabridged stories.

Verdict:
A fantastic resource. It gave me the confidence to eventually tackle the Netflix series in original French (with subtitles!). Hautement recommandé !
