Shamon didn't write this bio because even though he "crafts chilling tales that explore the psychological and existential costs of survival in the most hostile environments imaginable" (well, he did write that bit - more like a cry for help), writing about yourself is much more difficult. Shamon brings his love for science fiction and the supernatural, and his background in the military, to deliver heartfelt love stories... torn apart by space zombies. Not to embarrass Shamon with superlatives, but as a reader of science fiction, I can say that when you need to put a book down and wake up your wife to tell her what happened in the story (about space zombies), the author has done some great work. Shamon lives with his wife, Yolanda, who chooses to write about anything but space zombies.
A veteran of the U.S. Army and a lover of all things eerie, Shamon lives in Tampa, Florida, with his wife, Yolanda (also an author), their two golden doodles, and a well-worn stack of sci-fi paperbacks. When he’s not writing, he’s dreaming up new ways to blend heart-pounding action with the haunting unknown.

This is a damn good series. Would recommend to any one who likes space and zombies. Didn't disappoint. Going to start VEHO the back story next.

I gave the first book in this series, Dead Station, a lower rating because I was frustrated by not learning enough about the soldiers. The readers learned a lot more about the soldiers, or at least the ones that were main players, in this book. I didn’t mind the broader scope of this story, but I do think the claustrophobic moments in this book were the best, very reminiscent of the fighting in the first book. I also enjoyed the first few peeks into the interstellar political factions and the clashes those politics inevitably caused. The third book was set up well. I’ll be starting it next, as I am now invested in these soldiers.

Once you arrive on Tressell be advised of slight turbulence, once there take in the vastness of nature on your journey do not feed the wildlife. The local population are dying to meet you. Camping adventures and activities cost extra. Local guide and transport on hand if needed. Complimentary Medical with gift bag service. So, take a seat, and get settled after all adventure awaits. This book provides an excellent follow up to the series. It was an amazing read, looking forward to the next book. Highly recommended...

June 23, 2026I actually finished this some time ago. This book was very good. It was on the whole song of '1979' by Smashing Pumpkins where it began on a note and ended on a note. I would severely recommend this book.

Excellent follow up...4.5 stars
This was another great read by Shamon Harper. Very well put together.
The author tok his original concept and expanded on it exponentially.
The first novel was a non-stop gore fest. Great reading.
This book excelled so well because SH really went in depth with the character development. All these wonderful characters were giving personalities, strengths and flaws. And, I took my time to become emotionally invested in each of them. The characters lost in the first novel weren't really missed once gone. This time around, each loss evokes strong emotions.

Zombie Bears!
Shamon Harper's Humanity Shattered series is a must read for any sci-fi/zompoc fans. Imagine a zompoc not breaking out on earth but across a universe.
Zombies on space stations, space ships, on distant worlds. It's mind blowing to say the least. Then, cross species contamination, on Tressell 113 the team came upon zombie type cougar and then bears.
Throw into the mix corrupt corporations, military powers, mercenaries, and you have a series that can take you to the very edge of space itself.
In the Little Shop of Horrors, the plant says, " feed me, Seymour". Well, in this case I'm going to say, "feed me, Shamon". So, I wait with a rumbling tummy for the third book in the series, Demeter-9 which thankfully comes out in May.

Dead space
Well the zombies are spreading across the galaxy and we know where it came from, well we think we do. What's in store for these guys now? Are they going to be ordered to another outbreak of will they become the hunted? I love these characters ,love the story ,what started a zombies in space is getting far more complicated. It's a great story and I can't wait for book 3

Fantastic
I love military space books. This one has been a rollercoaster of bad luck. All the things go wrong and the action never stops. Things go from bad to worse and even when the line fails the people don't quit.

A New Voice in Sci-Fi Horror
This is a terrific sequel to the first book Dead Station, and hopefully just the 2nd book of many more in a captivating series!

A good follow-up
This is a direct sequel to the previous book, no break in between. Which is great. In this case our intrepid heroes are planet side on a planet that has been overrun with the virus.
There's a lot of ops run on the ground, a bit too many risks if you ask me without an end goal that seems achievable. Especially running around at night. With very little Intel. That's how one creates drama I suppose.
They come across an old teammate who apparently betrayed them previously which resulted in the death of another soldier. Perry is still seething and hating him, Jackson then gets emotionally involved and wants to confront the man too. My take is that Perry needs to grow up, there's no place for emotions here. Considering there are quite a few deaths in this book alone - where's Perry's sense of sadness and betrayal now? Nobody has even spoken to the other man to get his version of events.

Outstanding Sequel!
Tressell 113 was awesome! It picks up right where Dead Station left off with the same characters. Every main character continues to be well written and never feels like they’re just a throwaway body to send to the infected. The team and ship at large is a family. I enjoyed the smooth writing of this one. Everything flowed perfectly and Harper’s descriptions are so well written that you can visualize everything. The action is nonstop and the gore is relentless. I can’t wait for the third installment!

My 2nd zombie thriller by Harper. Very exciting. Continued direct from Dead Station. Lots of run and gun. Got my fill of killing zombies. Every book another couple of the crew bite the dust. Looking forward to more!
