Trouble Inside

Rate this book
She was never supposed to be there. In fact, Zoey Bergeron went to great effort to ensure no one would notice. She always planned her criminal habits precisely, to avoid being caught. Finding a body was never part of the plan, and neither was being seen.

Now someone else knows she was there, and they’re making it hard for her to leave it in the past.

Unsettling signs begin to surface and Zoey is forced to confront what really happened. Driven by guilt, fear, and a need for answers, she begins her own search for truth. Old friends resurface, loyalties are tested, and secrets become exposed.

She thought leaving the house meant leaving it behind. She was wrong.

In this psychological thriller, one woman discovers that not every secret can remain hidden… especially hers.

I am grateful to have received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This was fun! The inner monologue is somewhat repetitive and I felt it could have been cut back, but I believe many readers may enjoy having that much insight into the narrator's/main character's thoughts. I appreciated the dark but also innocent perspective of the main character, and did find myself rooting for her. She may or may not be easy to connect with for all readers. However, if you like a fun mystery, with a few twists, and a strong social support circle that adds a small heart warming piece to the read, this book will be great for you.

Big thank-you to the author for sending me this ARC — all thoughts and opinions are my own. Always grateful to read early!

I’m settling at 3.5 stars, rounded to 4. The first part of the book dragged a bit for me—it wasn’t until around chapter 10 that I really felt pulled into the story. Once it hit its stride, I enjoyed the twisty character and the #FashionVictim feel, though I still wished for more backstory to help me connect with her.

The constant inner monologue slowed the pacing, and I found myself wishing for more action. Still, it’s a quick, easy thriller that mystery fans can breeze through.

Zoey has an infinity for being nosy and wanting to know everyone’s briskness. To curb her curiosity she breaks into peoples houses. Until one day she came upon a murder with a serial killer on the loose.

Lucas long lost lover from the past who is still obsessed with Zoey and wants back into her life. He watches from afar and starts inching his way back into her life.

A story of deception thriller and twists and turns you do not see coming. Highly recommend this book if you love twists and turns with thriller vibe.

Trouble Inside was an okay read for me—definitely a bit outside my usual lane. While it didn’t fully hook me, the story does offer some solid twists that keep things moving, and I found myself rooting for the main character as the tension built. It has its moments and a unique vibe, but overall it just didn’t quite click the way I hoped. Still, a decent pick if you’re looking for something different with a few unexpected turns.

ARC Review
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC copy of Trouble Inside. I really enjoyed this book! I found the main character Zoey to be relatable but I did find some of her inner monologue to be monotonous. I enjoyed the twists at the end and overall give Trouble Inside a 3.5 star rating and would recommend it to anyone that enjoys thrillers and mysteries.

Psychological Rollercoaster

I loved the psychological aspects of this story and how our brains can alter our perceptions of events. Get ready for a few twists and turns in Zoey's and Lucas's story.

I love how she rationalized breaking in, but the monologs for me seemed to drag on and I found myself getting disinterested. the twists and turns were great but for me I needed more action.

Thank you to the author Heather S. Chauvin for an Arc copy.
The beginning of the book, I thought was good. Towards the middle to the end was just okay. I did however guess the twist pretty early on. This was a good read. Zoey's unusual habit really makes you wonder if people are actually like that.
