Or perhaps it’s the proprietor, Mina, who is the puppet master and Lucy her willing puppet? The longer Lucy stays on the property, the less she feels like herself. The more the inn bleeds into her veins. The more tantalizing Mina and the company she keeps becomes.

Torn between being the good, obedient woman who should run back to her safe, unfulfilling life and this thing slowly being torn asunder to show her exactly who she is, Lucy must make a decision — escape or give herself to the monsters who dwell in the shadows.

The Inn of Beautiful Remains is an experimental, pseudo-epistolary, erotic horror novella (emphasis on horror) inspired by The Lost Boys and Dracula and told in regular narrative style interspersed with progressively deteriorating emails and text messages. While it is contemporarily set, it’s gothic at heart and explores themes of isolation, fragile sanity, the desire to conform or rebel, and revels in the slow pulse of dread that explodes into full-blown terror. This book is good for readers that trend toward more extreme horror, are okay with ambiguity, and are interested in having their heads screwed with. Not for the faint of heart.

I loved this novella! The intense setting with building terror throughout had me imagining a dark ambience that felt fitting for what i was reading. It was over too fast. I beg for more of this. The extra spicy & bloody scenes were brilliant. I really enjoyed the pieces between the pages, following a progressing story that's taking place off page. You’ll definitely want to sink your teeth into this one!

I wish I could shout from the rooftops just how much I enjoyed The Inn of Beautiful Remains, reading it absolutely rejuvenated my love of the erotic horror genre. It’s bloody and gruesome, and yet so incredibly sexy. The blend of creepy and lustful moments were never over-the-top, and truly added to this modern day Dracula meets the hazy/gray atmosphere of Silent Hill. Overall, just a uniquely fun and eerie reading experience that left me shooketh in the best of ways.
