Dark Romance with plenty of feels.
The story opens with Luca is standing in a courtroom after 11 years in prison waiting to find if this is the time that he will finding get out ! His brother Roberto stands with him as his very smart attorney. His sons, 28 year old Vito, 26 year old Nico, and his daughter Caterina who wants to be an account which surprised Luca. She's whip smart but it still surprised him. Of course his oldest daughter Lucia, the one who betrayed him and put him in prison isn't there. Nor is her husband Nick Dixon, who Luca hates with a passion. Rich Nick bought up the prison and made Luca's life a living hell. Luca wasn't even there for his wife when she was dying of cancer. That was so emotional !! In fact, the whole story was highly emotional and kept me engaged!
And Elena, the federal prosecutor? Wow, what a woman ! She's fiercely devoted to justice, the law ! Now, she has a HUGE problem. Not only is she so attracted to Luca but she's surprised when she starts to like some of his family ! They all become fiercely protective of her and their future sibling. That pregnancy was a potential end of her career. It sure made me wonder how all of this was going to work out. And what about her boss, Miles Hart? What does he know? Is he really as honest as he seems?
The story has a great ending and I'm so glad that I got to read this book through Booksprout.

Wow. I love Luca!! The best ever book boyfriend a girl could ask for!! There, I said it. He is a Crime Lord. The Don of the Italian Mafia and Elena is as he Federal Prosecutor aiming at keeping him behind bars for a little bit longer. He doesn't deserve to be release on good behaviour and she is determined to keep him where she thinks he belongs!

Brilliant mafia romance
This is a brilliant, emotional and well written story. A different type of romance to what Claire's written before, involving characters introduced in her previous book "Once Upon A Vegas Night". It's got heartwarming slow-build mafia romance, spicy scenes, twists and a lovely HEA. I have really enjoyed reading this and couldn't put it down.
Elena has built a career as a prosecution lawyer, with her goal to put and keep criminals behind bars. But after failing to keep Don Luca Conti from being released she knows she'll work to get him sent back.
Luca has served eleven years behind bars, his wife has died, his children have grown up and his eldest daughter has betrayed him (Lucia in "Once Upon A Vegas Night"). This is my first time reading any of Claire's books. Elena has built a brilliant life for herself a a prosecution lawyer. Putting criminals behind bars and keeping them there is her main goal. Now sitting in a court room trying to keep the notorious Don Luca Conti from being released isn't actually working in her favour. Now finding him adequate restrictions to keep too whilst on parole. Luca has served eleven years in prison. His wife died, his children have grown, his daughter betrayed him. He can't get them years back. Yet here he is compelled to keep looking at the lawyer opposing my release. She lives a totally lawful honest life. He's from a criminal underworld side of life. Together they are complete opposites. Yet there is just something drawing them together. Can they blur lines between their worlds. Or will his rivals finally have something to hold over him. Or is their someone else set to destroy her. This is a compelling story which is spicy yet still family orientated. I couldn't put it down and look forward to more from this author.

I’m rating this book 4.5 ⭐️ because even though it’s an enemies to lovers mafia romance, it’s also a touch her & die, possessive male who loves a feisty professional woman. It’s spicy with the perfect touch of mafia violence. He’s also a strong Don with a huge love for his family.
The twist in this story, she’s the prosecutor who’s trying to keep him in jail. He gets out of prison with a monitoring device. Somehow through just one court encounter they KNOW they want each other. While that may seem improbable, you can google instances of women in professional capacities (lawyers, guards, prison workers) falling for prisoners.
The thing that’s not shared is why he went to prison. We know it affects his oldest daughter but not the exact details. We also know that incident separates the oldest daughter from the rest of her family.
Their first sexual encounter ends up with her pregnant and everything changes. The story goes from there and they end up with a HEA.
This is the first the book in a series and I’m interested in reading the next books in the series when they’re published.

this book surprised me
I’m not a fan of mafia books and I hesitated to read them but I’m glad I took a chance on this one. I wasn’t prepared for all the twists and turns. Luca is all alpha until it comes to Elana. Elana is a lawyer going after Luca to keep him in jail but she is attracted to Luca. Luca finds Elana a challenge who doesn’t back down. There is a lot going on in Luca’s life and he wants revenge but Elana shows him a better way. I’ve never read a book by this author but found it really interesting and kept me turning pages the only thing I felt was the ending was rushed I wanted to know more details. Overall a great read and if you’re a mafia fan you should definitely read this

Anyone who said this is 5 stars is lying. This story has a good idea, but the execution was awful. So many holes and unanswered issues. The fmc and mmc meet like 2 times and then he sneaks into her apartment and they just bang and then she is knocked up? We didn’t get the part in the story where she should have told him, we got his son saying that he should know…..they meet like 2 more times and then they are in love. Then…..her job finds out and she is reported to bar and then nothing more comes from that. Then my biggest irk is the story ends and we have no idea what the baby is and don’t get the birth. WTH

Luca was sent a way to prison on the testimony of his daughter, his wife died while he was incarcerated. His daughter's husband bought the prison he was in and made his life hell. Now eleven years later he is be granted parole even when the prosecuting tried to fight him being released.
His release was contingent of him being checked up on and the chemistry between them grows. She is dedicated to seeing justice done but not only is she attracted to Luca, she starts to like some of his family.
Cannot wait for the next in this series.

This is so different than the other books by Claire Kirby that I have read but I love mafia stories so this was a no brainer for me!!

What an absolutely brilliant story. It’s amazing how Elena and Luca start out together in the courthouse about his situation. When he is able to get out of a problem Elena goes to check up and things get out of hand. Later her time with Luca causes her all kinds of problems. Luca and his children are there for Elena. There is so much suspense and activity to the story that you just can’t put it down. Absolutely loved this story. It was well planned and written very well. It has steam in the story but fits well with the plot. I loved the end of this story.

The characters drove the storyline and they were very compelling and complex and complicated and perfectly steamy together. Cannot wait for more from this series. This was my first book by this author and I’m so glad I picked it up. It was amazing. I loved the premise…. That she was a prosecutor and he was mafia . This is the story of Elena and Luca, and it was definitely worth the read.
Both are brazen, controlled and willing to do what’s necessary for themselves, careers and those they love. Elena is determined to keep Luca in prison and Luca is determined to be released and have Elena.
This was a very good story. Good spice, good plot, love and tenderness, romance and HEA. 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Good Romance
3.5 stars. I enjoyed the book. Definitely felt the conflict the FMC had. Not sure I was sold on the depth of their attraction so soon. Felt a bit too instalove & for the MMC to be a long-jailed mafioso, didn’t see how the FMC came around so quickly. I also am a bit confused as to the eldest daughter’s conflict. Was there a prequel or previous series that I missed? I’m left with a ton of questions, so I’m curious enough to read the next book.
I would have liked to have seen more interaction with his sons and brothers & their roles in the Family.

She was sent to argue to keep him in prison, but the Don got out of prison and her approach changes from keeping him in prison to putting him back in but when he ends up in her personal space Elena sees a different person from the ruthless man everyone sees. Now enemies are coming for her, and her career is spiraling downwards not to mention the two pink lines that she is facing. Will she and Luca find happiness.

Luca.... Don, head of "the family" and his family. Betrayed by his child and her husband and put in jail, not able to be there for his wife when she battled and lost to cancer. She's at his parole hearing to keep him in jail......but..... he's Luca and there's this pull to him. Elena checks up on Luca when he's out of prison and the pull is more... People are coming for her and only he and his family can truly protect her and the two little lines....

He is a mafia boss newly released from prison. She is the prosecuting attorney trying to put him back. He is completely off limits. Will passion win out in the end or will it cost her everything she has worked for? This was such an endearing love story. The characters and the dynamic were great. Elena is the government prosecutor trying to keep Don Luca behind bars. However, the attraction between them is unavoidable and undeniable. I could not get enough of the electricity between them that charged this plot. It was definitely an interesting read but the ending felt a bit abrupt as somethings were left open ended. Overall, the plot was well developed and entertaining.

This is the first Mafia that I have read from this author, and she did not disappoint. Luca is out of jail and Elana is trying to put him back in. The chemistry was there as well as the way they both balance each other out.

I enjoyed this book. it was a page turner. the tone is set, but Luca will do whatever it takes to make the prosecutor know how he feels. This Enemies to Lovers gets into the thick of it, and you get to see the twists and turns as we ride along.

Finding yourself attracted to the guy who just got out of jail who is part of the marfia has leads to so many emotions after one night and a pregnancy. I enjoyed this book and really felt the bad guy wanting to be good. I would recommend this book.
