I loved the history behind each holiday and festival and the foods of course to go with it! The pistachio balls are a favorite at our house and my charcuterie turned out pretty good, too. :)
This is a five star book that beautifully captures the heart of The Chosen and carries it straight into everyday life. I truly adore The Chosen. It has been such a meaningful outreach and such a gentle yet powerful way to remember what the Lord did for us. Watching it helps me hold tight to Jesus in a very real and personal way, and Taste and See reflects that same spirit right off the screen and into the kitchen and home.
Visually, this book is absolutely stunning. The photography and foodscaping are gorgeous, carefully styled, and deeply inviting. It is the kind of book you want to leave out on a coffee table or keep open on the kitchen counter, not just to admire but to return to often. Every image feels thoughtful and warm, reinforcing the themes of hospitality and shared life.
The structure of the book makes it especially approachable. It blends short devotionals, Scripture, personal stories, and recipes in a way that feels welcoming rather than overwhelming. Each section connects back to moments and themes from The Chosen, encouraging reflection on who Jesus is and how He met people exactly where they were. The devotionals feel conversational, like sitting at a table with friends and talking about faith naturally and honestly.
The recipes themselves are simple and doable, yet full of meaning. They invite you to slow down, gather, and make space for connection whether with family, friends, or quietly with the Lord. Food becomes more than just a meal. It becomes a reminder of how often Jesus taught, loved, and connected with people over the table.
What makes Taste and See especially powerful is its emphasis on hospitality and shared faith. It gently reminds us that faith is not meant to be lived out alone. It is meant to be shared, tasted, and experienced together. This book is a beautiful reminder that God meets us in the ordinary rhythms of life and turns them into holy moments. Taste and See is a heartfelt and meaningful tool that helps bring the story of Jesus to life in us.
This is a beautiful book. It has amazing photos of foods and scenes pertaining to the Bible. It contains quotes and insights into Bible stories and events and other content from The Chosen series. There is also encouraging and instructional content, like a lesson about relying on God's presence and another on the essential nature of salt.
The central emphasis of the book is on food. There is information on preparation and use, such as how to cut a pomegranate. There are many recipes too, such as creating a Chosen themed charcuterie board. My favorite recipe is for confetti couscous with roasted vegetables. The recipes are great for creating a dinner party based on The Chosen. There are even some questions included for a dinner discussion.
This is a good book for anyone who is a fan of The Chosen series and would like to know more about the foods, prayers, customs, festivals, and blessings mentioned in that series. It would make a great gift, both inspiring and useful.
I received a complimentary digital copy of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent review.
Each page is filled to the brim with interesting information about historical biblical food and culture practices, and of course delicious recipes.
I ended up making quite a few different recipes and they were all so delicious! I’ll definitely be adding them to my recipe rotation, especially the Pistachio Bites!
I’d say this cookbook is perfect for beginner cooks as well, with easy instructions and some simple recipes.
Though I received a digital e-book copy, I found the notes section very unique!
Thank you to NetGalley and David C Cook for the digital ARC of this cookbook.
As someone brought up Catholic, I grew up with faith all around me. I’ve seen The Chosen, my mom adores it, and I think it’s a beautiful representation of Jesus life, and the stories I was brought up with. I’m also an avid cook and baker, so I was excited to see both worlds brought together. I thought it was really great how everything was organized into sections. Sabbath was discussed. A Kosher vs non Kosher chart was provided, for those like myself who are not educated on the topic. The recipes were great. The prayers included were heartwarming. Just all around, I think the author did a beautiful job.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and the author for the ARC!
This is a beautiful collection of recipes, stories, Scripture, and quotes from "The Chosen" TV series!
I really appreciated the insights into some of the prayers featured in the show (especially the "Blessed are You" and the Dayenu), and I was definitely drooling over a lot of the recipes. Can't wait to dive in and try a bunch of them; they look both tasty and nutritious. The instructions seem easy enough to follow, too, and they don't require a ton of weird ingredients, heh.
The shopping/pantry list and meal plans at the back were also helpful. Gonna be a great addition to my cookbook shelf!
I received an eARC of the book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
This cookbook is definitely now one of my favorites! It's quite different from the cookbooks I currently have on my shelves, but I mean that in the best way possible. It was so neat learning more about Jewish culture, especially from Biblical times. The pictures used were gorgeous, and I loved both the Bible lessons and all of the The Chosen elements throughout the book. Although I haven't tried all the recipes yet, the ones I did were very delicious! They were also pretty easy to follow! I absolutely look forward to trying more of the recipes in the future! 😋
*I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley. A review was not required. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Exceptional book for anyone - whether you are familiar with The Chosen series or not. Beautiful pictures and delicious, healthy recipes - rooted in Biblical and Jewish tradition and fresh ingredients. My favorites that will be added to my rotation are the Challah Bread, Chicken Marbella with Dates, and Baked Fish with Lemon/Capers. Yum! The recipes are clear and easy to follow with accessible ingredients. I will be pre-ordering a physical copy for my collection. Thank you to #NetGalley, David Cook Publishers, and the authors for the opportunity to review an ARC. All views expressed are my own.
What a gorgeous and uplifting book! Throughout this book you will find a lovely mixture of recipes, stunning photography, teachings, and excepts from The Chosen. I love the way all of these details come together to create a beautiful reading experience. The recipes are new and interesting, while still feeling approachable and relaxed. This book encourages one to gather around the kitchen with family and friends, slow down, give thanks, and be grateful for what we have. I will return tho this book again and again. Thank you David C Cook for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
Wow! This is a delightful book! It's divided into 4 sections. The simple life, Gatherings, Open homes and useful gardens, a chosen gathering. As I read through the pages, I could feel myself relaxing. There are beautiful pictures, delicious sounding recipes and insightful passages. I'm going to buy several copies of this book: 1 for me! And the rest to give away. It's a special book.
I was provided a complimentary copy of the book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
As someone who enjoys both cookbooks and books that bring people together around a table, I enjoyed Taste and See. The recipes are inspired by the world of The Chosen, but the book feels just as much about hospitality, community, and sharing meals as it does about the food itself. I liked the way recipes, reflections, and historical context are woven together, creating a reading experience that goes beyond a traditional cookbook.
Netgalley ARC-The photography in this book is stunning. The recipes are simple and if you are like me and not religious in anyway, even the biblical stuff is kind of interesting. There are some tidbits in there that are actually useful like kosher versus non-kosher but having never watched (nor do I plan to watch) the show that part was lost on me.
I think this cookbook is put together well and the pictures were very pretty. I loved the notes about hospitality, cooking with a mindset of serving, and the explanations of the festivals. Can’t wait to try the marinated feta and the cinnamon bread. The flower section was a nice unexpected surprise.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC. Release date 8/4/26.
I loved this book! I love The Chosen so I decided to give this book a try and I’m glad I did. I love the little nuggets from the show that’s incorporated and what season and episode it’s referring to. The recipes sound delicious and I have already saved them. 10/10 would recommend this devotional book if you want to learn more about the show and Jesus.
I did purchase this book as a pre-order from the Chosen. It is far more than a cookbook. It has chapters on the feasts, hosting a gathering, hospitality, and scriptures appropriate for each chapter. The photos are beautiful and the food styling is enticing.
Absolutely amazing! I love how they intertwined biblical recipes with Bible verses and iconic chosen lines. A great new conversation starter, coffee table book and recipe book. Love, love, love!
