Abbie Hart hates winter. She hates snow. She hates being cold.
And, most of all, she hates Jesse Carter.
He’s the annoying journalist who always shows up where she is, steals the best stories, and smiles way too much. So when they both arrive in the same small winter town to write about the festival, Abbie thinks her week is already ruined.
Then the inn gives them… one room. One bed.
And everyone believes they are a couple.
To keep the room, they agree to pretend they are together. Smile in public. Hold hands sometimes. Definitely no kissing.
Easy. Right?
Except Jesse is actually not that bad. His smile is actually beautiful. And every time he is around her, the fake part of their relationship gets a little harder to remember.
ARC - thank you so much to Anna for providing me with an ARC to read!
Initially, I thought that the author's writing style just isn't for me. I had a lot of issue reading the sentences because they felt oddly put together. Sometimes they were missing a word, sometimes it was the order of words, and sometimes it felt like they just didn't work at all.
This improved as the book went on! It was far less common and the writing seemed to find a rhythm and flowed a lot better.
It almost felt like the first third of the book and the rest of the book was written by 2 separate people? The first 1/3 felt rushed in pace, more like fanfiction, wording/sentencing structure was off etc. Compared to the rest of the book - it was better worded, it had good descriptions and much more enjoyable!
Cons: - I really, truly didn't like Abbie - she was so full of hatred for very little reason. When she finally revealed what he did (or didn't do?) I was angry. Her character came across incredibly immature and very privileged. Like how dare someone who is also good at their job get better opportunities than me - I'm going to hate him for no reason. - some mild inconsistencies in the book i.e. the character "Lussi" is initially introduced to Abbie as "Lissi", where Abbie initially orders a peppermint mocha, 2 pages later she says she wants to throw her matcha at Jesse - the nickname Abbie darling was not it for me - it felt weird Jesse saying that during sex too... - Jesse constantly says he would never be that guy that pushes a woman when she says stop. But then multiple times Abbie asks him to stop talking about things and he just keeps pushing??
Overall, I enjoyed the book but it wasn't my favourite! I definitely liked this more than Lost In Circles by the same author, I feel like she's really finding her flow with this one. Also, the spicy scene were great! Loved the depth of description, and loved how easy it was to visualise as a result.
If you want a feel good Christmas holiday romance with all the emotional extremes then this is the book for you. Abbie and Jesse have known of each other for four years. Abbie Hates Jesse! Enough said! Jesse is confused as to why her feelings for him run so deep. He doesn't consider himself an a$$hole and generally tries to be nice and polite to her......she has her reasons, and as they are both in the field of journalism, wherever she goes for a story Jesse seems to pop up too! Jesse, the man who can do no wrong!! So....arriving in the small town of Frostpine to do an article about their 'Winter Lights Festival', she once again runs into Jesse Carter, who also happens to be there for the same thing! Add in one room, one bed and having to pretend to be a couple for a whole week then mix it altogether and it spells Disaster! A great story as Jesse tries hard to make it work between the two, whilst Abbie is not the forgiving type and wants nothing to do with him. Now add in a fairy-tale setting, snow and a big dose of Christmas spirit and you have the makings of a great story. The feelings between the two soon heat up and as they discover they are quite compatible being intimate. Spice level medium, if that is your thing as being in one bed soon makes them cross over the barrier of their love/hate relationship. Abbie soon forgets why she hates Jesse, and has to keep reminding herself he is the enemy! A good enough enemy that they can get tangled up in the sheets every night! Loved the overall story that ends up as a delightful HEA for them both.
first of all thanks Anna for providing me the ARC of this novel 🥹❤️ fake it till the snow melts turned out to be such a cozy, heart-warming read. the whole setup of two journalists who can't stand each other being forced to share a room in a small-town inn instantly hooked me. their banter, little arguments, and slowly softening attitudes felt so natural and fun to follow. the romance builds up in a really sweet, believable way, nothing rushed, just two stubborn people slowly realising they actually care. the small-town vibe and the blog-writing angle made the story feel refreshing and cute. if you enjoy enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, and slow-burn chemistry that eventually melts into something soft and adorable, you'll definitely enjoy this book. it's a comforting, easy, quick read that leaves you smiling by the end.
This was such a fun little read for the Christmas season!
I loved seeing the FMC lean into that grumpy vibe…the first chapter hooked me right away. The “this isn’t the movies” reference on the classic forced-proximity/one-bed trope was honestly adorable & so witty.
The banter was great. I legitimately laughed out loud a few times.
And Jesse’s confidence? Whew. 🥵🔥
Overall, it’s the perfect palate cleanser…light, fluffy, and 🌶️spicyyyyy 🌶️ A quick read to just settle in to and enjoy the ride 😎
Thanks to the author for this e-ARC in exchange for my honest review
🎄✨ Dive into the ultimate holiday escape with this charming read! Imagine a cozy small town setting, reminiscent of a spicy Hallmark movie, where the air is filled with festive cheer and the tension between our main characters is absolutely electric. 🔥💕 Their journey from enemies to lovers is as adorable as it gets, complete with a one-bed situation, a sprinkle of Christmas magic, and all the feels! 🎅📚 If you’re looking for a heartwarming and delightful holiday romance, this book is your perfect match!
I had the pleasure of getting ARC for this book. overall, I liked the story. There were a few errors early in the book, Lissi became Lussi, for example, but overall, did not take much away from story.
The banter kept me entertained. I loved seeing Abbie and Jessie fall in love over the course of the week. Was very Hallmark movie.
I do wish we could have had more of the competition scenes in the book. That was the whole reason that Abbie and Jessie were in town right!?!
Abbie is sent to Frostpine to cover the Winter Lights Festival for work. Upon arriving she finds her nemesis and writing rival Jesse is also there to write about the festival. After a mix up with the Inn they find themselves forced to share a room for the week.
I love forced proximity and fake dating tropes. This was a fun one! I didn't love Abbie for a large chunk of the book. She was so stuck in the past and it bothered me. But ooooh Jesse. That man has confidence? heart, and MOVES.
This book brought the spice in a nice, funny, little package.
I enjoyed this book. I felt like I was watching a hallmark movie unfold. You sort of knew what was going to happen but not how the events were going to unfold. The one thing missing for me was the setback/complication, the one thing that sort of makes them question, fear, and feel. The characters, setting, the feelings were all there it just needed a little nudge in my opinion. Will definitely read more of her books though!!
This was a cute holiday read. I enjoyed the idea of this book. It gives you a little hallmark but with spice feel. It was quite the awkward situation but they made the best of it. It was cute seeing them develop feelings for one another as they spent more time together. The only question I have is, why did they need to pretend to be a couple to Jerry the room? lol overall a really cute and cozy book.
2.5 stars. i wanted to love this and i tried so hard - the tropes are all right up my street, and the plot sounded intriguing. i was looking forward to a spicy cosy winter romance… but it just fell so flat. the writing style felt juvenile and immature, i felt no chemistry between the characters and because of that, the spice left much to be desired. i kept going hoping it would improve but it just didn’t hit the spot for me.
ARC REVIEW: What I would give to have a cutesy romance in a small, snowed in, Christmas town like Abbie and Jesse experience.. 🥰 I love the dual POV watching them go from enemies to lovers in a whirlwind week!!
❄️ Holiday Romance ☕️ One Bed ❄️ Dual POV ☕️ Forced Proximity ❄️ Enemies to Lovers
The PERFECT winter time read. If you love the cheesy, adorable, holiday movies but want that extra spice... This is your story!! Cuddle up by the fire with a hot drink and enjoy
I almost DNF’d just because I wasn’t a fan of the writing style and felt like there was a lot of errors, especially early on in the story. But what can I say, I ultimately stayed for the spice and the wintery Christmasy vibes (that I long to experience as an Australian).
3.9 stars. I liked it, yes I did but it felt like i didn’t know what was going on at some points.. it was still good (LOVED the Empyrean series mentions 😛)
This story was so beautiful! The fact that Abbie and Jesse were ultimately fated and destined to be together and how it all came to be. I really loved it! Highly recommend this book!
Fake It Till the Snow Melts by Anna Cobeleva was such a cute winter read. I really loved Abbie and Jesse, they were both so easy to root for, and I especially enjoyed the fun little situationship they found themselves in and how naturally it flourished. Their dynamic was sweet, cozy, and full of those small moments that make a romance feel comforting.
This was a lighthearted, warm, and cozy winter story, perfect for a snowy day when you want something easy and feel good. The writing flowed nicely, the story never felt drawn out, and something happened every day, which kept things moving at a great pace. I also thought the ending wrapped everything up in a really satisfying way.
Overall, this was an enjoyable, charming read that delivered exactly what I wanted from a winter romance. Xo 💋
