...you might want to read Out of Bounds first - because you sooo don't want to miss getting to know Nartan's friend Tarak ☺ CHECK OUT MY REVIEW FOR BOOK #1
Celeste is in Alaska for her best friend Sabra's wedding. Also present is Nartan - the future husband's best friend. Celeste and Nartan met once before and both have been horribly attracted to each other ever since, but especially Celeste doesn't want to admit the attraction.
She's still so horribly hurt and scared and broken, after the divorce from her manipulating, controlling, violent rich ass of an ex husband. Who is due to get out of jail soon - and even though she's a master in martial arts now, she's still a bit scared of him bothering her again.
But Nartan isn't one to give up easily. When he sees something that he wants - he takes it.
It went deeper than desire, bordering on craving.
But Celeste doesn't make it easy for him...
There might be some close moments and some kissing in this Alaskan paradise...
But once we're back in southern California Celeste thinks she's seen the last of Nartan.
And she even admits to herself that she's a bit sad about it...
But as we already know, Nartan isn't one to give up easily ☺

I really enjoyed reading this book.
I was so looking forward to read Nartan's story - we already met both him and Celeste in the first book in the series and now they have their own story.
There was lots of going back and forth - especially from Celeste's side - she said yes one moment and ran away the next - that happened not only once. It was a bit frustrating.
But it was also great to see how Nartan didn't give up and how they fight their way through all the obstacles in their way to get to their HEA ☺
The book was very sexy - there was some serious sexual tension between those two.... and things got really hot!!!!!
Some things I didn't like.... Dawn repeats lots of words and expressions.
A few examples...
Everybody is always curling their lips in, thinning theirs lips, rolling their lips - I always imagine a dog when I read something like that - very weird. It just happens way too often.
Then in only a short few pages she uses the word VESSEL 5 times. Instead of calling it a boat or a yacht. Also weird.
Another thing...some lines or comments ... I didn't understand what they were supposed to mean. I had the feeling they're just letters and words and they don't make any sense in relation to what the conversation was about.
And way too much lawyer talk. I know Celeste is a lawyer and it might be fun to lawyer-talk a bit in the bedroom. But once is enough.
Overall I also had the feeling that it would've been amazing if Dawn had made two books out of Celeste's and Nartan's story. The first part of Filthy Rich - where they were in Alaska - could've been a bit longer. I think it would've been great if that Alaska-part woudl've been one book, that could've ended in them ending up together, but with the still unclear future of what will happen once they get back to their real lives... And then in book #2 - back in LA - with all the problems of their jobs and Celeste's crazy Ex et cetera. I think there would've been enough story to do that.
Because the way the book is now - it's all a bit too insta-love and it feels like things are missing.
BUT - that all didn't stop me from enjoying the book.
But if it hadn't been for the amazing character of Nartan - the book might've only gotten 3 stars from me.
But all in all...
FILTHY RICH was a really sexy and adorable - even slightly suspensy - Romance!
You will sooo want your own Nartan after reading it! ☺

First up; HOW THE HECK DID I NOT KNOW that Dawn Ryder is the erotic romance pseudonym for Mary Wine???!!!! Color me BLOWN AWAY!!!
You know what else blew me away?? This book... this story... Nartan *SWOON*. I went into this book fully expecting to want to beat Nartan over the head with a baseball bat (and probably a good knee to the balls too...) BUT instead I walked away from this story, wanting to DROP to MY knees for the man!!!
BTW, we meet Celeste and Nartan attending the wedding of Sabra and Tarak who were from Out of Bounds, and since this was my FIRST book by this author, you can bet your sweet bippy that I'm going back to read that now!!!!
In short; LOVED THE FREAKIN' HECK OUT OF IT and now I want Laura (and am I wrong in thinking it be Marcus's??) story!!!!!!

Well....another book bites the dust. I read until roughly 25% but I'm so bored. Nothing is happening......NOTHING.

Celeste finds herself in Alaska for her best friend’s wedding and having to combat the desire that the Best Man, Nartan is stirring in her. Desperate to not fall into bed with a man that holds power and control, again, Celeste fights her attraction to Nartan. But Nartan isn’t about to give up. He’s a man that is used to getting what he wants. A man that knows that getting what he wants often means he has to fight for it.
As Celeste begins to give in to her desires her past returns in the form of the abusive and obsessive ex-husband, who isn’t willing to let go of his toys just yet. There is a fine line between a man that wants control and one that wants to protect. Celeste finally sees Nartan as the latter, but falling in love doesn’t erase the past nor does it force it to remain there.
I felt like I read two completely different books. The first one, the one that centered on Celeste fighting her attraction to Nartan and then the second one, after she gave into her desires. And that first book... I did not like it. I nearly gave up on this particular book before she left Alaska and headed back to LA.
I don’t mind a heroine that has abuse in her past being the cause for her to be wary about starting a new relationship with a man. But what got me was that she was a complete contradiction. Her mind was going in one direction and then suddenly she was thinking and acting out the exact opposite. I got whiplash. She was not only dishonest about her feelings for him, to him, but to herself. I think if she was more honest with herself, at least in her own head it would have made me like her a bit. As it stood, it wasn’t until much later that any twinge of feeling occurred when it came to her.
Once she did take that leap, the story for me changed. The pace was set differently and I was able to get a better feel for the story. Getting out of Celeste’s head allowed me to enjoy the second half of this story. Now it wasn’t all Celeste’s fault. The inner thoughts of both characters were too much for me at the start of this. There were pages of thoughts, minimal dialogue and the story moved at a snail’s pace because the focus was so much on what they thought rather than moving it along. Maybe that was the intent of the author while the characters were in Alaska, because it all seemed to change pace once they hit California. But for me those first days drove me crazy.
In the end, although I enjoyed the second half of this book much more than the first; it was just an okay read. And I had to push myself to keep reading to see where this story was going to go. I think the injection of drama from the obsessive ex helped this gain momentum and the fact that she stopped dragging her feet and took the leap allowed me to push through.

First off, the main love interest's name is Nartan?
Not Nathan but Nartan?
Nope.
I'm only 17 pages in and this Nartan grabs the main character's ass as their meet cute...is harassment supposed to be cute now? The response is "She nearly jumped out of her skin..."
And when Nartan's friend confronts him about it a few pages later by saying "That was a little bold" dumbass Nartan replies "Couldn't resist. She's such a tempting little bundle. You can hardly blame me."
Grossssssssss.
I'm all about separating fantasy with reality when reading, but this is only 24 pages in, and I already hate the main love interest...

I really like Dawn Ryder’s writing and I loved this story! I will warn you, you have to like a real alpha-type of guy but… dang! I adored these two battling each other to make a relationship work!!! I kind of regret not reading the first book but it was not a problem for this story.
Why I liked this story so much:
Nartan and Celeste are two strong personalities with their love lives already mapped out and calculated. They meet (twice) and there’s no denying the chemistry between them. Celeste is recovering from a marriage to a monster (who is in prison). She doesn’t trust her own judgement when it comes to men and definitely doesn’t want to give up her control. Nartan is just a guy who has worked hard to get where he is in business. He doesn’t chase after women but in Celeste’s case, he might have to compromise. He’s all alpha-male, thinks he knows what’s best for Celeste, and protects what he deems his. I love stories where the main characters BOTH have to give and take to make their relationship work.
The love scenes between Nartan and Celeste were electric, erotic, and my kind of lowdown and dirty. They were so affected by each other and Ms. Ryder did such a fantastic job of conveying that in her story.
You knew the ex-husband was crazy but you didn’t know he was THAT crazy! I enjoyed the back story that helped bring resolution to Nartan and Celeste’s hang-ups about being in a committed relationship. If it takes a stalker or two, it’s worth it, I guess. Just make sure you have supporting characters that are as brilliantly planned (with great personalities, too!) to help with your plans and to back you up.
Speaking of supporting characters, thank you, Ms. Ryder, for not going there with Laura! I thought what you did with her character was fantastic! See, even supporting characters get great storylines.
A couple of negatives to the book:
The synopsis sells a different book, IMHO. Celeste has already lived a life of luxury and in my opinion, she’s done with it. She has her own money now and isn’t overly impressed by high priced gestures. Yes, Nartan is “filthy rich” with money but that is NOT what the title of the book is referring to. Well, okay, in a way it is. But it isn’t really why the book is titled “Filthy Rich”. I will leave it at that. Trust me when I say it’s a meaningful title that the poor synopsis partly spoils.
The only other thing I could possibly complain about is the length of the book. I think it could have been edited to be shorter. Perhaps some of the inner-thinking parts of the story cut down a smidgen. There was a lot of great story to this book; it just didn’t need all the padding of character “thinking”.
I didn’t mention this earlier in my review because honestly, there should be more diverse books out there so we don’t notice these things BUT I really enjoyed reading about Nartan’s family and his Apache heritage. There was such a unique backstory to how he and his bestfriend made their money. Nice thing is, it didn’t overpower the romance and main plot of this book.
Yeah, I definitely need to go back and read the first book…

I have to admit that I almost didn’t give this book the chance I should have. For me, it started off slow and it wasn’t much of a story. Yes, Celeste and Nartan were attracted to one another when they met in Alaska for their friends’ wedding, but Celeste was coming out of a bad relationship and doesn’t want to wind up with another dominant man. She wants Nartan, but she doesn’t. She’s attracted to him, but she’s not going to act on it. Ok, maybe she’ll act on it a little. No, changed her mind, she won’t. I liked Celeste (when she wasn’t being wishy washy) and Nartan, but was frustrated and wasn’t sure how I was going to read an entire book of this.
But then, the style of the book changed. Once they both returned home to California, both the tone of the story and their relationship took a turn for the better and both became more interesting. Nartan showed that he wasn’t just a domineering and possessive workaholic, but a man that was looking for stability and family and love. He was unlike most of the billionaire heroes that are so prolific these days. He viewed himself as wealthy not by the value of the things he had, but the caring and affection he had in his life. Swoon. Nartan can speak to me in Apache and dominate me any day!
There was a subplot woven in to the story about Celeste’s ex-husband, but it was handled strangely in my opinion. It didn’t follow through the entire book, but seemed to pop up halfway through. And for such a main part of the story, it was resolved too quickly. This really felt as if it was two books. Alaska and California. I was a fan of California Nartan and Celeste way more than Alaska Nartan and Celeste, but overall enjoyed the story and getting to know Nartan.
I didn’t realize that there was actually a first book in this series until after I was done reading this one, but that didn’t impact my enjoyment or understanding of this story at all. I will now have to go back and see how Celeste and Nartan’s best friends got together, so my TBR list just keeps growing!

Okay well this one wasn't really for me. I was bored from about 50% and I didn't feel the characters or story line that much. i like the back story of her ex but it didn't really seem to bother her too much. I just couldn't connect and so I didn't enjoy this like I usual would. The story line was predictable and nothing really stood out to make you go wow.

This was honestly the perfect steamy read for a winter day. I have been just wrapped up in my blanket reading this all day and I feel so content.
This romance was both steamy and had a plot which I loved. A lot of romance books have poor plot lines but I actually really enjoyed this one!!
I'm definitely going to go and read Out Of Bounds now!!!!

This is my review for “Filthy Rich” by Dawn Ryder and it is the first time I’ve had a chance to read her work. The story follows a woman who is determined to make it on her own after her husband, who happened to be controlling and rich, is sent to jail. She goes to Alaska to attend her best friend’s wedding and comes across the groom’s best friend who happens to be everything she has convinced herself she doesn’t want anymore. But the pull of attraction between them is hard to ignore. The story is written in the four P.O.V.’s(point of views) from Celeste Connor, Nartan Lupan, Caspian Devitt, and Laura.
The main female character Celeste Connor is a blonde, beautifully toned woman thanks to her new hobby of martial arts, and determined to be independent. She doesn’t want a man or any kind of relationship because the scars, emotional and mental ones, still linger from a marriage she was currently free from. Her husband was controlling, rich, and always got his way no matter what anyone else said. His wife was his toy and his possession and she feared the day he would be back out of lock-up. She enjoys celebrating the wedding of her best friend Sabra on a trip to Alaska. Her mind is set on never trusting any man, especially one with a lot of money and who loves control. Then, she meets the groom’s best man who happens to also be his best friend, Nartan.
Nartan Lupan is a pure blood Apache. His dark hair, fit physique, unique cobalt-blue eyes and successful business gives him a lifestyle of never needing anything. Women are never hard to come by, in fact they practically throw themselves at him. When he comes across the lovely Celeste he can’t help but be intrigued by the attraction he feels toward her. As he begins to pursue her, he sees that she will not come easy and that makes him want her more.
Then you have the bitter, rich, vengeful husband who has always gotten what he wanted and his wife Celeste is what he wants. Caspian Devitt loves to enjoy the power his money brings and he enjoys pressing his control on anyone who belongs to him. His time in jail doesn’t change anything. Celeste his his. She belongs to him…that’s what he thinks anyway. No one will have her and when the time comes, she will come back to him when he is out. If she tries to fight him, he will bend her until she remembers exactly who has control over everything she does. That is the mind of the power-hungry Caspian.
This story had a great mix of enjoyable romance, provocative steamy scenes, and it had some
entertaining suspenseful moments. Will Celeste ever be able to trust or even love a man again? Is Nartan just another rich man in search of a woman to own and control or is there more to him? Will Caspian decide to move on or will he do anything to press his control onto Celeste, no matter what it costs? I do recommend this book for readers who enjoy a great contemporary romance with a nice mix of suspense. I’m curious to know if this will become a series or if a spin-off book will come from the supporting characters Laura and Marcus. I think there is potential there with those two. All together, this was a satisfying read.

This is my review for “Filthy Rich” by Dawn Ryder and it is the first time I’ve had a chance to read her work. The story follows a woman who is determined to make it on her own after her husband, who happened to be controlling and rich, is sent to jail. She goes to Alaska to attend her best friend’s wedding and comes across the groom’s best friend who happens to be everything she has convinced herself she doesn’t want anymore. But the pull of attraction between them is hard to ignore. The story is written in the four P.O.V.’s(point of views) from Celeste Connor, Nartan Lupan, Caspian Devitt, and Laura.
The main female character Celeste Connor is a blonde, beautifully toned woman thanks to her new hobby of martial arts, and determined to be independent. She doesn’t want a man or any kind of relationship because the scars, emotional and mental ones, still linger from a marriage she was currently free from. Her husband was controlling, rich, and always got his way no matter what anyone else said. His wife was his toy and his possession and she feared the day he would be back out of lock-up. She enjoys celebrating the wedding of her best friend Sabra on a trip to Alaska. Her mind is set on never trusting any man, especially one with a lot of money and who loves control. Then, she meets the groom’s best man who happens to also be his best friend, Nartan.
Nartan Lupan is a pure blood Apache. His dark hair, fit physique, unique cobalt-blue eyes and successful business gives him a lifestyle of never needing anything. Women are never hard to come by, in fact they practically throw themselves at him. When he comes across the lovely Celeste he can’t help but be intrigued by the attraction he feels toward her. As he begins to pursue her, he sees that she will not come easy and that makes him want her more.
Then you have the bitter, rich, vengeful husband who has always gotten what he wanted and his wife Celeste is what he wants. Caspian Devitt loves to enjoy the power his money brings and he enjoys pressing his control on anyone who belongs to him. His time in jail doesn’t change anything. Celeste his his. She belongs to him…that’s what he thinks anyway. No one will have her and when the time comes, she will come back to him when he is out. If she tries to fight him, he will bend her until she remembers exactly who has control over everything she does. That is the mind of the power-hungry Caspian.
This story had a great mix of enjoyable romance, provocative steamy scenes, and it had some
entertaining suspenseful moments. Will Celeste ever be able to trust or even love a man again? Is Nartan just another rich man in search of a woman to own and control or is there more to him? Will Caspian decide to move on or will he do anything to press his control onto Celeste, no matter what it costs? I do recommend this book for readers who enjoy a great contemporary romance with a nice mix of suspense. I’m curious to know if this will become a series or if a spin-off book will come from the supporting characters Laura and Marcus. I think there is potential there with those two. All together, this was a satisfying read.

Back in the day I was obsessed with Harlequin millionaire stories that appear regularly in the present line. So I decide to take a chance on this book Filthy Rich which is about a woman dealing with her past and is swept of her feet by a millionaire who happens to be the best man at her best friend wedding. OH he just happens to be the best friend of the groom and they have had run in before as there is a separate book dealing with their friend’s story( which I had no clue about until after reading this book). This book felt to me standalone though as I didn’t feel I wasn’t missing anything with the main couple in this story. However there isn’t a lot much in the plot

However she doesn’t except to deal with Nartan past the wedding. They have met before and Celeste is attracted to him but she doesn’t want to acknowledge or deal with him. One relationship was enough for her especially when she was left broken mentally and physically thanks to her ex husband who now paying for his crimes. She worried that he will come after her with him up for parole soon and doesn’t want to risk anything. However Nartan got other ideas.
Nartan wants her and is unaware of her past, he just being told be careful by his best friend and new wife and he determined to have Celeste one way or another. He thinking it the whole best friend looking out for each thing. And Celeste doesn’t want to know so it seems a cat and mouse game is happening in Alaska. Until makes what she thinks the move that will get Nartan off her case and lose interest in her . Escaping back home to South California where she thinks she free and can be happy , but she can’t get him out of her head and now she is torn.
That the main gist of the story as you probably can guess what happens next as Nartan is a man who won’t take a no and is patience with Celeste as she decides to make her mind going back and forth from yes and no.
It a sexy fun suspense read as you probably can guess what else happens and therefore I wasn’t totally in love with this book. The author also keep showing the facts about the characters which can get old fast, if you keep every chapter. I felt that there could have been some stuff cut and focus on building the trust and the relationship considering Celeste’s past. I would also liked to see more of Nartan history as there was no indication anywhere that this book was tied to another book unless you did your research .
Celeste is perfect example of battered character that has overcome and built her life back and has this inner strength and this should of been played as a strength of her characer and something to admire . But no she had to be portrayed indecisive woman instead and that was a disappointment. There was promise with the book , but it never reach its full potential

I’m a cover lover and I was immediately drawn to Filthy Rich and excited to read something from an author I hadn’t discovered yet. What I enjoyed most about this story was that it was definitely a stand alone, I didn’t find out that this was actually a second in a series until way later. I like reading a book and having an ending, especially HEA. I’m curious now to how the first couple, whose wedding was the focus that brought the new couple together, began their romance.
Filthy Rich follows Celeste who is in Alaska to enjoy and celebrate her best friend Sabra getting married. Her reaction to Sabra’s husband best friend Nartan is guarded, he’s rich and definitely a man who gets what he wants. And right now he has his eye set on Celeste. But her past keeps her from fully allowing herself to trust, luckily Nartan isn’t a man who gives up especially with the pull he’s feeling with her.
Celeste is a tough character to figure out at the beginning, I wasn’t immediately able to connect to her. I thought she would be able to hold Nartan off a little more, since she was so intent on not wanting to be attracted to him. But the mans got swagger and knows how to charm the pants off anyone. Once the book shifts to L.A. I was able to see her come out of her shell, she has her reason to be scared of men in power but can see Nartan is different. I felt bad for her once she opened up about her crazy possessive ex and luckily Naratn isn’t one to back down from a crazy alpha man.
Nartan is an alpha male, who is defiantly a smart businessman. I loved learning a little about his Apache heritage at the beginning, the wedding sounded so beautiful and the way the culture celebrated and Nartan participated, was so sweet and emotional. I almost wanted there to be more focus on the culture side of Nartan. In the end Nartan is a man on a mission and Celeste is a woman like no other he’s ever met. Their romance is a quick spark that gets hotter and hotter, but he’s a good man who knows when he has something special.
Overall this was a nice read with a slow start and a suspenseful ending. I really wished the space would of evened out, because I took a break from reading this story because it was so slow at the beginning. I loved the Alaskan environment setting and wish more excitement had happened, but it seemed to fall flat and Celeste just wasn’t someone I was rooting for just yet. The second half of the book was awesome; the characters really came to life and the plot thickened from romance to some suspenseful and dangerous situations. I look forward to reading the first book, now that I know this was a series and hope to read more about Nartan and Celeste in future books/

I think I liked book 1 a smidge more.
This was also good too, but the "he said something in Apache" started to get on my nerves. Just... write the words. Or say what he was saying. Stop with the vague. Or trying to be exotic? I don't know. Just too much.
Nartan is ... well he's borderline asshole persistent. It's what Celeste needs though. Celeste is extremely closed off and cautious, with good reason ... but I liked and appreciated that she realized and admitted when she was being stilted and/or cutting off her nose to spite her face.
I also liked that she didn't take Nartan's shit and when he deserved to be left, she left. [The situation - before they're actually in a relationship.] - And even after the Laura thing when she goes outside - I liked it and that fit too.
I think there was a logical fallacy - something - where Celeste is this BADASS MUTHUFUCKA MARTIAL ARTIST. And she basically beats up her ex, but then there's that one tiny scene in his head where it seems to indicate all he did in prison was work out. So ... *shrugs* whatever. Logix.
I also think the relationship developed a bit ... well it was slow slow slow slow SLOW buildup and then basically an avalanche. Like, they had almost random hookup sex ~3 times, and then BAM move in together.
I liked that Nartan fell fast, but he didn't TELL her - or even entirely show her IMO - because the suave wine and dine wasn't necessarily all personal - maybe. [Of course it actually WAS] and the scene where Celeste says to him she just realized he's been showing her the real him the whole time ... that was sweet.
They're uncertain and almost circling each other, one guy who has no idea how to be in a relationship and one girl who is excessively cautious.
There was some heavy handedness and a bit of RS-ish stuff thrown in that just barely fit -with the ex but going all "rawr me commando" and the goons coming after Celeste ... it was a lot. A lot a lot.
I enjoyed the book over all, but I didn't think it had quite the flow of the first.

I had the pleasure to read an exciting and sexy adventure with Filthy Rich by Dawn Rider. I enjoyed Out of Bounds, some kind of prequel of Filthy Rich, and I wasn’t disappointed with this new story. If some of you read and liked Out of Bounds, you must read Filthy Rich. It was a great combination of suspense, action, lovely situation and of course sexy scenes!
Filthy Rich isn’t as wild as Out of Bounds; nonetheless it will appease your need in the sexy and sexual scenes fields! At the end of Out of Bounds the readers can foresee a future between Celeste and Tarak, even if it might be just a spontaneous and quick firecracker. I was glad to read about them in Filthy Rich and realise that this title was for them.
Tarak and Celeste made a playful, inspiring and vivacious couple. They complete each other in what they both need the most. Even if their encounter wasn’t really supposed to last or mold into something more, I really thing they both needed each other to discover what they were losing or leaving behind.
The great asset to this book is Celeste past and the potential threat her ex-husband can be. The suspense behind the fact that Caspian can appear anytime and anywhere was thrilling! Plus, I was looking for some alpha male fight in this book!
Celeste past was moving, but Tarak won’t let the readers down with his own story. I love the fact that he’s a self-made man. He knows what he wants and that Celeste is the woman.
After a few refusals, Celeste will try again to trust a man, but not just any man! You can all anticipate how this would end, but the storyline is great and enticing. Dawn Rider has did it again for me with Filthy Rich, I wasn’t able to put the book down and have to stay up all night to finish it! A significant asset to Dawn Rider’s booklist!

What a story! Ryder alternates between shockingly provocative narratives and emotionally gripping scenes. She had me wrapped up in this world that she has created. I could just as easily picture the time in Alaska as I could the time in SoCal. The novel was vividly real with a feeling of impending heartbreak throughout. I found myself waiting for the other shoe to fall and praying that it didn’t. Ryder pens erotic interludes that bring the story to life, cementing the connection between the main characters. Not only are these scenes unforgettably hot, they also add to the story.
This entire novel is a battle of wills. This embodies not only the relationship between the main characters, or with others from their pasts, but also the battle within themselves. Seeing the main characters place what they think they should have or do against what they truly want was a brilliant contrast. It made them very real and approachable. The cast in this novel wasn’t huge, but those that we do meet really pack a punch. You also don’t like or approve of everyone that you meet in this story. Some draw your loyalties, and others, well… Let’s just say I agree with Nartan’s theories on those others.
As a whole this was a shocking and emotional novel that held my attention throughout. It was my first novel by this author but definitely won’t be my last.

This is the first book I have ever read by Dawn Ryder, she is a new author to me. I always like getting to know new authors, and how they write. There were no cliffhangers to this story- but the secondary characters of Sabra and Tarak are from the story Out of Bounds are mentioned throughout.
Celeste has her guard up, because of how she has been treated in the past. And I don't blame her, that is a natural reaction. Nartan is the same way, he is a filthy rich businessman, and someone is always trying to take advantage of him; he has to know when to trust and when not to. He also just hooks up with women, no relationships. Until he sees Celeste.
Celeste's past keeps her from beginning new relationships. But when her best friend, Sabra gets married, she is around Nartan, and Celeste may have met someone she can settle down with. And Nartan sees himself possibly starting something with Celeste. I did like the interaction between the two, although a few situations had me wanting to smack both of them.
There were also some steamy sex scenes added in there too, it wouldn't be labeled as erotica without them. I enjoyed this read.

Celleste has had a rough road thus far. Having survived an abusive relationship she has suffered alone. She has become independent and closed off emotionally. She meets Taran through her bff because he is the best man in her wedding. When sparks fly between her and this tall, handsome, sexy alpha male she puts her running shoes on. She has reasons and doubts and will not let any one in. Though Taran has met her match He is willing to chase. There are some parts where he comes off as an ass, but what alpha male usually doesn't..lol! I enjoyed it. I would have liked an epilogue. Needless to say it was nice. There is enough suspense and frustration to make this read good. Being that her ex gets out of prison and is looking to have her back. Can she come through all of this with her mind and heart intact?

This was one of those books where I wanted to punch the hero in his nuts and then smack the heroine until she came to her senses. Nartan was a controlling, cocky, self-obsessed SOB and chasing Celeste seemed like just a game to him. Celeste has just left an abusive controlling relationship and she's still letting herself be sucked into his trap? I was so angry but the writing was great so I kept reading.
Then I kept reading and kept reading and then I found myself falling for Nartan and then seeing that, actually, Celeste was strong and smart and that allowing herself to fall for Nartan she was actually empowering herself.
Insert the suspense and drama from Caspian and holy shit this book was everything. The sex scenes were off the charts but the sweetness of Nartan and Celeste together was amazing. This is a must-read!!

I know my rating is pretty low, it was just an okay book for me. Personally, I just couldn't get past home weak Celeste continues to be. I can understand her initial fears of confronting her abusive husband, but come on. She spent years overcoming that nightmare and making herself strong so she would have strength not to become a victim again. Yet, she keeps making excuses. In addition, it bothers me in the end Narton had to be her backbone.

April 3, 2022I hated this book and I do not hate books very often. This was such a mess. I had a hard time finishing it, but I just wanted to see if it got better. It got better a tiny bit at the end, but the problematic parts in this book just can not be overlooked, imo.

DNF at 50%. She had a controlling ex-husband, and He’s a control obsessed guy pushing her into sexual moments even after she says “no” nonstop. She says “I will not be your plaything.” He replies with “yes you will.” No. No thank you.

The beginning was really good. I really liked Celeste and how she learned how to defend herself incase her abusive ex husband came back. She was very capable and smart and I really appreciated how her relationship with Nartan developed.
The ending was too rushed. Caspian seemed like a bumbling over dramatic villain than an actual threat. I was sad that Nartan ended up killing him rather then Celeste killing him herself. Also Laura seemed like she was put in there just to have a reason for Celeste to be jealous for like...2 pages at the beginning and at the end. No personality.
Overall it was a very enjoyable and fast read. It kept me interested.

One of the best romances I’ve read in a while.
I loved the characters, especially the strong character of Celeste.
The story was easy to follow and was an easy read for me.
I’m excited to read more of Ryder’s work.
Although I loved the book and story, it didn’t wow me to a point where I would give it a higher rating.
I also wish we could learn a lot more of Celeste’s past, especially her childhood, as it was hinted but didn’t go in depth; wanting me to know more about this amazing and strong character.
