Maniac love..
Wren Sloane and Kairo “Maniac” Saint-Mercier run into each other at the library that Wren works at. Wren is a modern day librarian that lives in a trailer and loves cats. She and her brother were raised by their Uncle after her mother passed away from giving birth to her and her dad being murdered when she was only 15. Her uncle and her brother own a dealership and also sell drugs for the Saint-Merciers and powerful family in the legal business of selling bourbon and he illegal business of moving weight. Tyree smokes his supply which put them on the bad side of the Saint-Merciers in which Trayvon, Wren’s uncle propositioned him by “giving” him Wren. Once Wren gets the just of it she did not agree, causing Maniac to take matters into his own hands and move her trailer onto his property until she decided to fall for him. I really enjoyed this story!

This book was good I liked it. Maniac was definitely crazy😂 and I expected a cliffhanger/plot twist at the end but not that. I can’t read the next one.

Maniac is crazy!!! He is funny but completely insane and I love that for Wren lol I do wish she’ll have a nickname for him or at least call him by his real name though

(2.5⭐️) This is my first read by this author and I probably should have checked her catalog to see that multi part stories seem to be her thing. I personally don’t like cliffhangers. Anyway, I initially enjoyed the story. Wren seemed like a different FMC than I’m used to in that she was super nerdy and seemed kind of innocent. And Maniac was unhinged in the best way (how do you steal somebody’s porch?). But I think halfway in the author lost me. And it was likely due to the writing style. It felt choppy and while i love AAVE in my books something wasn’t connecting for me. Plus there were lots of scenes that didn’t feel fully fleshed out. I wanted more. Also the romance between maniac and Wren fell super flat for me. It was abrupt. There was zero chemistry and build up. Despite me not liking cliffhangers I’m a bit nosy and if I’m bored enough I’d read the next installment to see what happens. But overall I didn’t particularly enjoy this.

When is as green as they get. She knew about the life but wasn’t about that life at all. My girl was strictly about books and cats🤭! What little girl is not a daddies girl, I know I am so living without her father was hard, but her father figure did his best - her uncle Trayvon🥰. When I say my girl didn’t want much, I mean just that. All she wanted was to keep her truck that meant the world to her😔 and be able to read. Now I rock with her the long way, but was hurt when she got played and ended up paying her uncle & brother Tyree debt. My girl didn’t deserve that😒 nor was she ready for Kairo aka Maniac! What woman wants their life to be uprooted and moved. I don’t mean just her, like her entire livelihood was moved. Who does that🫣? Though she was uprooted, Wren thought she wasn’t ready but surprised herself when she found herself attracted to the man in more ways than one 🤭. I feel Wren is about to be the same way about him as he is for her. Time will tell!!
Maniac is what you call bat crazy 🫣! It doesn’t matter the time or place, this man is going to get active and dare anyone to step or address his actions🫣! Being the man he is and being that he attempt love before, he wasn’t looking to experience that again but he wasn’t expecting to run into the woman that would change his perspective - Wren. Babygirl had ya boy in a frenzy🤭! Ya boy stalkish tendencies and I hollered. He was not playing any game when it came to her🤭. He was doing things that left me speechless and he hadn’t had no parts of the kitty 🤣! Oh but when he did, it was game over! Maniac handle all and anyone that even look at Wren. This 🥷🏽 didn’t play them games when it came to her. However, ya boy holding on to a secret that I think will change it all and if it has to do with I think, I’m nerves 😔🫣!
Cassius, it’s something about him that not sitting right with me. Unsure on what it is but it’s something. Like how you mad cause Wren moved on and you have a roster of women 🤔! I need more on him cause something is off. Then her brother Tyree. Ya, him slow and He just can’t get right🤭. Like even the squarest of men out woman know to never get high off your own supply🤭! Ya boy just can’t or refuse to learn his lesson. Same with him, only time will tell.
The ending on this left with my mouth on the ground cause IKYFL😳. I know that’s not who I think it is in the shadows. Taniece wrote the mess out this read. This MMC has no sense at all🫣! Let’s what’s about to go down as I know that’s more about Roc, Murda & Grim. I’m running so fast to book 2 it makes no sense.

Great Read
When Wren spoke of her mother dying in childbirth and her father being murdered. Something didn't seem right about the death of her father. Being traded like a farm animal after her brother Tyree put himself and their uncle Trayvon in a bind with Maniac and his family. Had Wren at a loss for words. What Wren didn't know was that Maniac's crazy ass was smitten with her before the deal. Tyree truly was a screw up. Being an alcoholic and becoming addicted to the very drugs he sold was bound to lead to his demise. Especially after Maniac cut him and his uncle off. Trayvon realized he was getting old and he had his business to fall back on. Tyree wasn't feeling it and was pissed off and that led him to business with Maniac enemy. Maniac got his name honest. The man is certifiable. I was laughing hard asf when he had Wren trailer towed to his property. Wren knew then that she was stuck. Maniac acted a fool with anybody over her and she was loving it. I believe Wren ex Cassius is going to be a problem. He messed up their relationship after she found out he was cheating but yet he can't seem to let go. Even after Maniac whooped his ass. Wren also have no clue that a ghost from her past have popped up and isn't happy about her and Maniac relationship.

Maniac was hilarious as a character and obsessive from the very first interaction with Wren 😮💨. I loved that Wren is a bookworm and a full-on nerd—she was such a fun contrast to his energy.
Now let’s talk about that obsession because while he was locked in on his “wife,” we didn’t really get to see them fall for each other on page. It felt more like claiming, passion, and physical connection rather than emotional build-up. I wanted more of the love, not just the heat.
Also, why did the ex keep popping up when this man had a whole harem of women? That part had me confused 😅.
That ending twist though?! Didn’t see it coming at all, and now I absolutely need part two because I have questions. Overall, this was a really solid start to what feels like it’s going to be a very good series. (4/5)

intriguing storyline
The overall storyline is intriguing and has so much potential. Its a romance but has a lot of suspense which kept me reading in hopes of connecting the dots. The plot just fell flat in a few places. The progression of their relationship didnt feel natural, even by fictional standards. She hated him in one sentence and then was all in the next. There were some random plot points that led nowhere - like the man trying to get her attention outside the grocery store or Maniacs interaction with that couple in the elevator. It just felt like page filler. And every chapter jumped days or weeks. Even though its a cliffhanger, i still think more could have been accomplished in this first book if the storyline was more cohesive. I still think its an enjoyable read and with more editing, the series has potential.

🗣️BUT WHY DID HE TAKE THAT GIRL WHOLE PORCH?🤔🤦🏾♀️😂😂 and then towed her trailer 😂🤦🏾♀️. You know if a man ain’t coming behind me like maniac, then I don’t want him✌🏾🙂↔️. I don’t live in a trailer, but if a man ain’t digging up my house and towing it onto his property, then I don’t want him ✌🏾🙂↔️. Maniac told Wren that she had 24 hours to come home, or he was coming to get what was his…and he did just that😂👏🏾🤷🏾♀️. This book had me hooked from the beginning, and just like all good books, they end with a 🗣️FREAKIN CLIFFHANGER😡🤬😩🤷🏾♀️. Oh well, guess I have to wait for part 2. I give this book 2000 out of 10 ⭐️’s.

Wow!!
So the uncle and brother are on some other mess!! They really used the love Wren had for them to sell her 😡! I'm glad she's happy now even though ot took a while and I wasn't sure she would really come around like Maniac thought but she realizes that's he's really that crazy maniac ppl says he is and now that she's in his life his crazy has multiplied. Tyree needs help fr because he's petting his habit take over and now I wonder what happened to him. Now comes to Big John cause that ending has me left with some serious questions and I can't wait to see how this plays out when Wren finds out about her dad. On to book 2 I go because I couldn't put this book down!

Omg this is gonna be lit. Wren uncle and brother put her in a spot but she found love. Her brother is a real f***up and I don’t know how he’s gonna get outta this one. What her dad is still alive I don’t know how babygirl is gonna take that one. I wondered do his brother knows he’s still alive. U did good on yet another book and I’m looking forward to reading more of them. Sitting here patting my feet while sipping on Pepsi while eating popcorn and while waiting on the next book to read

wait a minute
The tea is too hot. I like a little kidnapping kind of arranged trope thing. This book had it all. Poor Wren I feel so sorry for her because she is so innocent. Maniac is truly unhinged to another level…Wren the sweet nerdy type and Maniac is beyond crazy and unhinged. But it’s some secrets that didn’t come to light in this book but hopefully we find out everything in book 2.

Somebody about to open a closet and I can only imagine the secrets that will fall out. I like Maniac and his "Return To Sender" self. I think Wren is a good fit for him and him for her. Once whatever secret comes out about her daddy ain't no telling how it's going to change the dynamic of their relationship. Tyree is a lost cause. He should have listened to his uncle.💙💙

Awesome
This was a awesome read. I just love the premise of a nerdy girl can get some love to you have a guy that is off the hinge falling for a nerdy girl and they actually come together and making a perfect couple. This is a great read so when you have a little time and it’s raining outdoors or the weather is a little cold you could have a bowl of soup and get into this delicious read. I can’t wait for part two please don’t keep us waiting.

loved book 1
What an Alpha male Maniac is… Whew… I will never understand how family can sell someone they love for a debt, but love how Maniac is going about making Wren fall in love with him. Wren loves her family in spite of how they did her and that makes her something special. Maniac now knows that Wren’s father is indeed alive… Hope he makes the right decision because I’m sure in her eyes keeping that from her is a deal breaker. Onto book 2. Taniece, loved this!!!

A maniac’s world
Maniac is hilarious, very unhinged, very crazy but very hilarious. The way he acts is like a man that has no type of common sense. Every fiber in my being understand that he shouldn’t be something that I crush over but the way he carry on is so amazing to me. The toxic part of me know that I should know it’s not a good thing but I like him. I hope book 2 is as entertaining as book 1.

Hilariously funny!
This dude is unbelievable with his arrogance and audacity! The mfc is his perfect fit. He shows in every way that he cares for her and doesn't allow anyone in her space. I like that about him and with that he doesn't send vibes of abuse (most times it does send vibes of abuse). But he will smoke a person over her. Very good read. The 4 star is because of the typos.

Her Dad was alive this entire time really?? I’m still upset how her uncle & brother sold her to pay off of their debt!

I really wanted to like it
There is sooooo much to say about this book. But mainly… this is a very WEIRD book. The story line is lacking, the main characters barely even know each to already be in this romance. There was no real buildup. Maniac is not “the man” he is a very odd, stalking, impulsive creepy man. This book was just lacking the components of a good book. And I’m disappointed because it had potential

Wren does not deserve the lies Maniac and Big John about to give. That girl don’t bother nobody, she read her books, play her games, and be with her cats. Once an addict always an addict Tyree should have seen that coming and Uncle Trayvon smh he ain’t hitting on none.

Wow
This is a great good read. The title if this book is describing the story within. There are so many secrets in both families. From the drug dealing to the using, the dead popping up alive. Characters that are interesting, likeable, and a few that need to get it together, and one looking death in the eye. I definitely can't wait for more.

The story was just getting good, but why would you run up on Maniac,of all people? Where have he been all this time and why would he leave his family and fake his death? Did his brother know he was alive? He needs to be helping his son and not worry about his daughter because Maniac got that on lock.

Story Is Good but…

This story has so much potential. All in all a good plot. The time jumps leave a lot to be desired though. The cliff hanger at the end has me immediately downloading book 2.
I am side eyeing the author tho for this quote “Mariah was a BBW, but damn sure didn’t carry herself like one.” 😒😒 like girl what?

I enjoyed this read but there were a few areas that fell flat to me. There wasn’t much buildup and it was a little choppy. I love that the FMC was not like any that I’ve ever read about. A girl that loves books, anime….I feel seen. I love who unhinged Maniac was but at times he was doing the absolute most( the convention). Overall it was a decent book just wish it would’ve given more context.

Maniac’s name really should’ve been Psychopath because that man needs to a straitjacket and padded walls 😂. He didn’t care what he said or who he said it to/around. The way he stalked was insane.

Maniac got me!!!
Taniece didn’t come to play with this one. I love me some Maniac and Wren. Maniac is so crazy, I’ve been cracking up the entire book with his antics. All I kept saying was, “Poor Wren…” She didn’t stand a chance. Now the ending surprised me and I am running full speed to book 2!

Chile, I NEED me a Manic period! Book started of sucking you in. It’s 4am & I started reading at 12:30pm! I couldn’t put it down! Very good storyline, I loved how it took us right into the story, didn’t drag the characters first introductions! Manic is unhinged baby, I want a Manic just like him! He ain’t playing about his Wren! On to Part 2…
