An exceptionally powerful and gripping read.
Echoes in the Bunker keeps you on edge from the very first pages, pulling you deeper and deeper into its world and characters until you simply can’t let go. Having read Veronika Deneva’s entire collection, I can confidently say that with every new book her storytelling becomes more complex, more daring, and more emotionally intense — and this one is, without question, my favorite so far.

This novel has something for everyone, but what truly sets it apart is how thoughtfully and authentically it explores some of the most pressing issues of our time: domestic violence, anxiety, the psychological toll of modern life, and the quiet yet unstoppable strength women possess when survival is on the line. These themes are not forced or used for shock value — they are woven into the story with depth, sensitivity, and purpose.

Mystery, tension, love, action, self-reflection — Echoes in the Bunker balances it all masterfully. It’s the kind of book that keeps your mind racing long after you’ve put it down… if you manage to put it down at all. I stayed up reading until 4 a.m., and honestly, that says everything.

I won’t spoil anything — this is a story best experienced firsthand.
Highly, highly recommended.

Echoes in the Bunker is a thought provoking and atmospheric novel that blends psychological depth with mystery, centering on characters confronting their inner fears as much as external secrets. The story unfolds around a mysterious bunker hidden beneath an abandoned hotel deep in the mountains a place where hidden truths and buried pasts resurface with powerful emotional impact.
Goodreads

The novel follows Adriana, who has spent years managing her anxiety and learning to transform it into discipline; Irina, a woman whose carefully controlled life begins to unravel; and Alen, caught between obedience and fear. When their lives intersect at the bunker, what emerges isn’t just the truth about hidden crimes, but also the hidden parts of themselves.
Goodreads

What makes this book particularly compelling is how it intertwines personal emotional journeys with an unfolding mystery. The bunker itself acts almost like a character silent, shadowed, and symbolic, witnessing events both past and present. The author uses this claustrophobic setting to explore themes of anxiety, fear, control, and survival not just in the physical sense, but in the psychological realm.

From the moment I picked this book up, I couldn’t put it down as it took me a couple of days to read as I was gripped. This book is emotionally powerful, the author writes each character in a way you can see where they are coming from but you don’t have to necessarily agree with them.

The author writes in a way you feel each of the characters emotions, desires, complex relationships. I was surprised to learn along the way the realisation that the corruption and abuse of power is written about in her country to which my eyes grew even wider.

At the beginning of the book you can clearly see that there is something wrong, the hotel with a past, marriage on the edge. The story has layers of anxiety, desire, guilt and power. It’s a psychological, dark, suspenseful thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

At the end of the day I wasn’t expecting it to go out the way I thought it would, my mind was blown away.

Worth buying and one that stays with you, there is some triggers in there.

Highly recommended and can’t wait to read her next book.

An amazing thoughtful novel that got my attention from the very beginning till the very end.

I admire the way that author managed to accommodate so different, yet very important topics for the humanity.

Topics such as anxiety, social networks, infidelity & the unhappiness many people struggle with.

Unhappiness that people wants to solve somehow....

Yet, as a Bulgarian my most favorite part is the way the author talks about the issues in the Land of Absurdity - Bulgaria. The issues with violence, lawless, corruption & the devastating stories this brings to.

That's a definitely worth read novel!

Echoes in the Bunker is a dark, twisted dive into the psyche of control and manipulation. Irina's ruthless grip on her perfect facade starts to slip, while Adriana's secret monologues reveal a haunting past. When their worlds collide in a remote bunker, the secrets they uncover are deadly.

Key thrills:
- Toxic relationships at their most toxic
- Institutional corruption that'll make you question everything
- Pulse-pounding tension as the truth unravels

If you like mind-bending thrillers with complex characters and zero flinching, Echoes in the Bunker is your jam

I finished this book for two days and I still can’t get it out of my head. I started reading and somewhere along the way I had to reschedule meetings just to keep going, because I couldn’t leave it. It felt too close, too familiar, like pieces of my own life were there on the pages. I’m still processing parts of it. Some scenes keep replaying in my head without order. This is one of those books that feels extremely cinematic — I can see it as a series so clearly. I really hope this story ends up on Netflix one day. I’m still under the emotion of it.

This book completely consumed me. The story is so powerful and intensely alive. I kept telling myself I would stop after one more chapter, but the tension, the emotion, the sheer need to know what happens next pulled me deeper and deeper. I genuinely couldn’t sleep until I reached the end. It’s the kind of story that takes hold of your mind and refuses to let go.

Very different from the usual thrillers I read. More psychological, more raw. The idea with modern addiction summit was very original

This is not a fast-food thriller. It’s layered, uncomfortable at times, and very human. If you like psychological tension and morally complex characters, this one works.

A psychological thriller that’s more about people than plot tricks. The anxiety, relationships, and hidden motives felt painfully familiar. I couldn't put it down.
