When the hot cowboy from out of town caught me after I tripped, I should never have looked into those deep, brown eyes…
Brett Turner is the mysterious cowboy with the cute smile, flirty grin and a southern drawl like nothing else.
Me? I’m no southern belle, but he mistakes me for a lady, which is kinda sweet. However, I’m anything but. I’ve been riding, wrangling and talking my way out of most situations my entire life.
Brett, however? He seems to see right through it all.
The way he listens when I talk, like he’s actually interested. He’s attentive without being over the top, and he loves horses just as much as I do.
So, what’s the problem?
We had one great night, and I told myself I wouldn’t get in head over heels. I’m done with men, after all. I’ve been burned one too many times. But when I get to work the following morning after a night of debauchery, I come face to face with my new stable hand.
Brett Turner.
Nobody told me dimples on a man were gonna be that cute, nor did they warn me how my heart would do somersaults every time my new employee looks at me.
The real question is, can I let my past go for good? And what mystery surrounding this man has me halting in my tracks?
If this is just a ‘spring fling’ then why does every part of me gravitate toward him? The one man I barely know who turned my world upside down and holds a secret that may change the very ground I once thought sacred.
Spring Fling and Daisy Dukes is a small-town, age gap, spicy romance with romcom vibes and a cast of characters you'll fall in love with. Set in Wyoming, it is the spin-off to The Silver Pines Christmas series.

Ok the dedication to this book had me hooked, line and sinker and it just got better from there. I so love a good love story and this one just was great! I loved Bailey - she was the grumpy one but had a pure heart. I love a strong FMC who knows what she wants. Brett - such a great MMC. He had been through so much the previous year and was just looking to lay low. When he met Bailey - all bets are off. Loved seeing them get their HEA.

Star: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Spring Fling and Daisy Dukes is a fun, flirty small-town romance set in the charming world of Alpine Falls. From the very first moment Brett Turner catches Bailey when she stumbles, the chemistry between them is impossible to ignore. Brett is the perfect mysterious cowboy. He has a smooth southern drawl, a charming grin, and those dimples that make it impossible not to melt a little every time he smiles.
Bailey is strong, independent, and far from the delicate southern belle, Brett initially assumes she is. She grew up around horses and hard work, and she is used to handling life on her own terms. That confidence makes their dynamic even more entertaining because Brett quickly realizes she is far more capable and guarded than she first appears. Their banter and natural ease with each other give the story a light, playful tone while still allowing deeper emotions to develop.
What begins as one unforgettable night quickly becomes complicated when she arrives at work the next morning and discovers Brett is her brand-new stable hand. The shift from instant attraction to boss and employee tension adds a fun layer of awkwardness, stolen glances, and undeniable pull between them.
Brett is attentive in a way that feels genuine rather than overwhelming. He listens, he notices the little things, and his love for horses mirrors hers in a way that makes their connection feel natural. At the same time, there is an underlying mystery surrounding him that slowly unfolds and adds emotional depth to the story.
The romance balances humor, heat, and heart. Bailey’s past heartbreak makes her hesitant to trust again, while Brett’s secrets create just enough tension to keep you turning pages. Watching her struggle between protecting herself and letting this unexpected cowboy into her life makes the emotional payoff feel satisfying.
With a lively cast of small-town characters, plenty of flirtation, and a romance that feels both playful and heartfelt, Spring Fling and Daisy Dukes deliver an entertaining story that will leave readers smiling and eager for more from Alpine Falls.

Brett Turner is looking for a change of scenery and lands in Alpine Falls. Hoping to escape some personal troubles back home, he doesn’t plan to catch feelings for the first woman to fall into his lap—literally. Bailey Owens isn’t your typical Southern belle and as the manager of the stables, she can keep up with the toughest of cowboys. Fresh from a bad relationship, she’s sworn off all men—until a sweet-talking cowboy sweeps her off her feet. They embark on a whirlwind fling, but will it all be cut short when she discovers that Brett hasn’t been entirely truthful with her?
I’ve been on a roll lately with Mackenzy’s MC romances and was thrilled to switch it up with this small-town romance. This is the second book in the Alpine Falls series, but the first I’ve read, and I had no problem keeping up. I absolutely adored Brett and his emotional maturity! If you’re looking for a super quick and cute, insta-love small-town romance—with a nice dash of banter and spice—look no further.

Book Review: Spring Fling and Daisy Duke by Mackenzy Fox
Another amazing book by the fabulous Mackenzy Fox! There is no secret that I’m obsessed with her work! She is on many of my posts and features so with this latest book you know she would wind up here especially as the feature for today because I WANT MORE!
I absolutely loved Bailey her back story was so heartbreaking and I felt for her and could totally understand her reluctance to ever trust anyone!
And then there is Brett with his mysterious ways that keeps you literally saying oh just one more page or maybe just another chapter. You become addicted and cannot stop and you know what that’s ok. I’m going to say just go ahead and dive in fully because this story is perfection. The push and pull as Bailey opens up was so well done it wasn’t rushed and it wasn’t so slow it was so emotionally satisfying to all the things I love about Mackenzy’s writing, she always has the perfect mixture of storytelling, emotions, tension, spice, and banter. She always leaves me wanting more. But thankfully she writes a lot of books often so I’m never in a Mackenzy book hangover for long. 29 books and counting on my Fox sister’s shelf.

This was a good old country town sweet romance. When Brett needs to get away from his life in Nashville, he goes to meet up with his best mate in a small country town. When Bailey nearly collides with him at the pub, there is no going back. Bailey is everything he didn't know he needed and then some. She is down to earth, loves her horses and manages the stables and trail rides. She says it how she sees it, and when she almost literaly falls into Brett's arms, it seems like a fling is just what she needs. When she finds out later that he is going to be working for her, she doesn't know how that will work, but the forces of nature and chance are on their side, and there's no stopping them. When Brett's secret comes out as to why he's hiding, there's a lot to deal with in the small town, but like all small towns, they are made for it. I loved how easily Bailey and Brett both were able to open up to the other, and the chemistry spark that exists from the moment they meet. I loved how their story developed and the town rallied around them, and how even Brett's secret couldn't keep them apart. I'm loving this series, and this one is definitely one not to miss! Another great read!
After slipping on a lemon wedge on her way to the bar, Bailey never expected to find herself rescued by a handsome cowboy. With a southern drawl that makes her heart beat faster Bailey finds herself doing something she.never expected, a one night stand with him. When she finds out the next morning that she will be his boss she is determined not to fall for him after the heartbreak she has experienced in the past, but her heart has other ideas. Brett has a secret, a big one, but Bailey has captured his heart. She doesn't know who he is and doesn't hold back if she wants to say something, she tells it as she sees it, something he has missed in his life. When Brett's secret comes to light Bailey realises what this means, can they recover and get their HEA? A beautiful and heartwarming story set in the beautiful town of Alpine Falls, a town where people look after each other. I love the characters and the story and hope that we will find out more about this town and it's inhabitants.
Our sweet bestie Bailey (yes we know her from Winter Mittens and Snowmobiles) is out with the girls. Just getting food, hanging out, when she literally falls face first into our handsome hunk Brett.
Brett is in town to meet his buddy Jed and work for a while. Resting and finding his way back to himself. Our boy here has been through the ringer and back. He is immediately captured by Bailey’s beauty, whit and lack of filter. She don’t know who he is, and that makes her even more attractive.
Their instant connection surprises them both and being on their journey with them is amazing. These two have both been hurt so much by people they trust so watching them grow together and overcome all the hurdles thrown their way is everything.
I was so giddy with these two. All the nicknames, the sneaking around, the road to recovery is such an wholesome story. I really felt these two deep in my soul.
Tropes you will come across in this book: Small town romance Forced Proximity Secret identity (Rockstar in hiding) Workplace romance
We are back in the world of Alpine Falls with our hometown grump Bailey. She’s out with friends when she slips and falls into the arms of a stunning cowboy with a big secret.
Brett is in Alpine Falls to see his old friend but also to lay low out of the limelight. His story is one of caution and he wants to reveal himself before Bailey finds out the truth about who Brett really is. She takes it pretty good and makes him know that she’s not turning her back on him.
The I love you’s come pretty quick but it felt smooth and not rushed. This is a one night stand that never ends. It’s a fast paced love story with lots of suspense about Brett’s true identity. I enjoyed the banter between Bailey and Brett but also with the side characters that kept me laughing.
This was a quick read and we get a glimpse of the next book’s character which I can’t wait for.
4.25/5 stars. Bailey and Brett have more than a slippery moment, and after one night, there was going to be more, wasn't there? However, Bailey then sees him again, and this time as his boss.
Bailey is generally 'the grouch' however what Brett sees is none of that. What he does see is someone who is strong, takes no prisoners, and does not suffer fools, but she is also loyal, and sees YOUR potential and what you are trying to hide from. Her heart and emotion for the horses, and animals in general is one of many things they share. And, did I mention that although Brett has the manners his Mumma would be extremely proud of, when the cowboy hat is on her, his mouth is a deliciously filthy dialogue with the actions to back it up.
When the secret life he is hiding from his blown wide open, Bailey steps up in more ways than one, as does the town of Alpine Falls. And, of course, there is a few easter eggs scattered of the couple set for Book 3. This was easy to read, and like the warning, don't be fooled by the cartoon cover because this is spicy.
"You've sparked something inside of me I thought was long gone."
This is the first of the Alpine Falls books I've read and I think I want to run away to Wyoming.
This was a quick, easy read with a good deal of spice. It was an enjoyable escape with a sexy stranger, and just what I need at the of a long work day. Overall, the stakes aren't high for the characters, leading to less emotional conflict, and more time to daydream about a little ranch...
Brett and Bailey seem made for each other and I loved their meet cute.
You should read this book if you love: - Open door romance (spicy) - Small town romance - Strangers to lovers - One night stand - Hidden Identity - Cowboy romance
This book was such a fun, flirty, small-town escape and I loved every second of it 💕
Bailey is strong, independent, and not here for heartbreak… until Brett Turner walks in with his southern charm, cowboy swagger, and those dangerous dimples 😮🔥
Their chemistry? Instant. Their banter? So good. Their connection? Felt easy, natural, and honestly just right.
I loved how Brett really sees Bailey. The way he listens, shows up, and quietly breaks down her walls without forcing anything made their relationship so sweet (and a little bit swoony 🥹)
And Bailey? She’s no damsel. She’s confident, capable, and knows her worth, which made watching her open her heart again even more special.
This has: 🤠 Small-town charm 🔥 Spicy, flirty vibes 💫 Age gap romance 🐎 Horse girl energy (we LOVE to see it)
Brett and Bailey together were just chef’s kiss.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ A sweet, spicy, cowboy romance that will have you smiling the whole way through 💖
This small town, cowboy romance is fun, and a quick and easy book to read. It’s one night, secret identity, forced proximity, reverse grumpy sunshine with a touch of instalove.
When Bailey meets Brett she literally falls for him, and he falls for her. Their instant connection and banter ends with them spending one amazing night together. Then he goes to work with his friend, and he finds out she’s now his boss. heat, steam and banter follow.
I liked the lighthearted nature of this story, and how quick and easy it was to read. The banter and chemistry are strong, and Brett is all green flags.
Thank you @mackenzyfoxbooks @dakotahfoxbooks for the e-ARC of this story. I enjoyed reading it.
This book grabbed me and no matter what there was no putting it down or doing anything else until it was done. This book, wow, what a read. This is one of my top reads for this year, I love Alpine Falls and all the people in it. You feel as though you are part of their community and experiencing life as they live it. This book moves along at a pace that is perfect for the flow of the story. You will love these characters and you feel as though you have known them forever. This book will not disappoint and it needs to be read. There is no choice about it, it demands to be read.
Bailey and Brett were SO FUN! I loved this story. Brett is new in town for a getaway from his private professional life. Bailey is sweet and sassy, and hesitant to let him in initially. She soon realizes how perfectly made for her he is. I love the small-town feel in this series, and the close-knit group of friends. This was an endearing read in one sitting, perfect for a cozy weekend read! Such a fun read! I am excited for more of these characters! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
This heart stealing romance is a genuine gem. Bailey and Brett are amazing characters that share an incredible chemistry, delightful banter and attraction that is so strong that it feels practically tangible. Their story is fun, cute, flirty, swoony and emotional. If you haven't discovered Alpine Falls yet, there is no better time to check out this charming town and fall head over heels for it, the residents and the heartwarming love stories that occur there.
I'm a sucker for any book that has horses and cowboys, and Spring Flings and Daisy Dukes by Mackenzy and Dakotah Fox delivered both perfectly! Set in the charming Alpine Falls series, this sweet and spicy small-town romance had me hooked from the start. The cowboy vibes, horses, and lovable characters made it impossible not to fall in love with the story. If you enjoy small-town romance with plenty of heart, chemistry, and a healthy dose of country charm, this one is definitely worth adding to your TBR!
Awww! Such a sweet love story. I fell in love with the ease of it all. It was so cute from the start, and the instant connection they had was drool-worthy. I love a book that gives me butterflies and is also perfect for a relaxed weekend, and this one was perfect. The easy understanding between the characters was the highlight, and the climax was so cool. Must read to enjoy
I really enjoyed reading Isabelle and Brett's story!!! I've always had a soft spot for cowboys and Brett is definitely the embodiment of a true cowboy. Brett has a secret that he's kept from Isabelle, but she's a strong woman and stands by him. I've not read the first book in the series, but I will definitely be going back and reading it.
This is so easy to get swept up in. Brett is a charming cowboy with just enough mystery to keep things interesting, and the chemistry between the two is strong from the start.
I liked the mix of romance, humour, and hint of drama, this is a light, enjoyable read.
Loved the chemistry between them. It was entertaining yet still was not lacking in the steam department. It is not often you have the FMC as the grump so to speak. But it was still a great switch up
I absolutely loved this story! This author definitely brings all the feels and emotions!
Bailey & Brett were so good together!! Love me a good cowboy and horses. I loved the air of mystery around Brett and how good he was for Bailey. So good!!
I liked this book a lot! It was such a sweet and a little spicy romance. Each book in this series so far is around 250 pages. So you could easily devour the books in no time at all. I can’t wait to see who the couple is in the next book!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ small town age gap reverse grumpy sunshine hidden identity cinnamon roll hero
I’m a little sad to say this one just didn’t hit for me the way I was hoping it would. I usually love Mackenzy & Dakotah Fox—but Spring Fling and Daisy Dukes kind of fell flat for me.
The premise had so much potential, and I went in really excited, but the execution just didn’t fully land for me. It felt very fast-paced, almost to the point where I didn’t have time to really connect with the characters or their relationship. The romance leaned heavily into insta-love, and I personally needed a bit more buildup to really believe in their connection.
I was also expecting more of that grumpy or reverse grumpy-sunshine dynamic, and it just didn’t quite deliver in the way I’d hoped. Because of that, I found myself feeling a little disconnected from the story.
That said, I truly think this could be one of those “right book, wrong time” situations. It might have just been my mood or headspace while reading, because I know how much I typically enjoy this author’s work.
And to be clear—this definitely won’t stop me from picking up Mackenzy Fox again. I adore her writing overall, and one miss for me doesn’t take away from how much I’ve loved her other books.
Alpine Falls is a delightful little town with some amazing characters. In Spring Fling and Daisy Dukes we meet Bailey a ranch manager and a new cowboy in town Brett. The chemistry and banter is instant and a delight. I love how these characters not only interact but how open they are and the ability to be emotional. A truly beautiful love.
