About the author

Aminat Sanni-Kamal is a Lagos-based author writing romance and fantasy stories full of heart, humour, and a little bit of chaos.

She has published titles across contemporary romance and fantasy, many of them rooted in Yoruba folklore and everyday African life, writing everything from clean and sweet to properly spicy, depending on the story. Several of her books have landed on Amazon bestseller lists, she has been featured on the Black Romance Podcast, and she has spoken on panels such as AfroRomCon.

When she isn't drafting her next book, Aminat works as an editor for a publishing house, and also runs her own freelance editorial practice, offering book coaching, book editing, manuscript assessments, and ghostwriting for other authors. The Man I Collided Into by Aminat Sanni Kamal — ⭐️ 9/10

I went into this book a little skeptical because of the author’s content warning mentioned mental health, depression, and terminal illness. But honestly? The book turned out to be far more romantic and sweeter than those heavier themes might have led me to expect. And as someone who loves love, I was absolutely here for it. 😂❤️

The story follows Nahima, a young, anxious, ambitious, sharp-mouthed entrepreneur who is determined to build her business from the ground up while navigating her own struggles with anxiety and depression. In her quest to secure investors, she crosses paths with Odetona (Tona), a terminally ill billionaire who has risen from humble beginnings.

Their first meeting is, in a word, catastrophic 😂, but underneath all that chaos is an undeniable attraction that neither of them seems quite prepared for.

What follows is a delicious mix of romance, emotional baggage, conflicting expectations, religious differences, wounded egos and, of course, a billionaire who seems determined to give Nahima the world. Add to that the fierce and very spicy chemistry between them, and you already know things are not going to go smoothly 😆.

Both Nahima and Tona are, in their own ways, broken people who have some serious decisions to make. They have to learn when to choose themselves, when to let go of their pride, and when to allow themselves to be vulnerable. The question, of course, is whether their egos will let them.

And that chemistry? Spicy. Electric. Unmissable. 🔥 I honestly love love, and watching these two navigate their feelings for each other while fighting everything else going on in their lives was one of my favourite parts of the book.

That said, I did find Nahima’s sharp-mouthed, fiercely independent personality a little excessive at times. Some of her interactions, particularly when she called Tona’s sister “mad,” the whole store incident with his sister, and her encounter with Olumide, Tona’s friend, where she basically concluded that everyone around Tona was crazy 😂, had me wondering if we could tone it down just a tiny bit. That said, given her struggles with anxiety and depression—and the “demon” she constantly refers to as the voice in her head—I could understand where some of her reactions were coming from.

Overall, The Man I Collided Into was a beautifully written and engaging romance with plenty of heart, emotional depth, drama and spice. I would recommend it without batting an eyelid to anyone who loves romance as much as I do, enjoys the billionaire trope, likes their love stories with a little heat, or simply wants a good story that touches on mental health while still giving you plenty of romance to enjoy.

I went into The Man I Collided Into expecting a cute romance. I came out of it thinking about healing, trust, and how messy it is to rebuild yourself.

Three months after Rakim, Nahima has sworn off men. Heart off-limits. It’s get the bag, level up, become the best version of herself era. And I respected her for it. Because trusting her judgment with men was a luxury she couldn’t afford anymore. Same girl.

Then Odetona Olutosin l happened.

Calm. Patient. Perfectly in control. Far too flawless to be real.And my alarm bells went off with hers. Because men like that are always hiding something, right?

Except they keep colliding.Literally in hallways. Figuratively in meetings where "the survival of NH Beauty depended on this meeting.”

3 Things That Stood Out To Me:

1. The attraction vs responsibility tension.

There’s this moment where Nahima is supposed to be professional and her brain just short-circuits. “I couldn't look away from him. Was this what it meant to be spellbound? Had a Babalawo trapped me?”

The freckles, the strong jaw, that face “designed to rob women of their common sense”but Aminat makes him grounded. Not perfect. Real. That’s what made it dangerous.

2. NH Beauty and the stakes

This isn’t just romance. “The survival of NH Beauty depended on this meeting.”

Aminat made me feel how much Nahima has on the line. Her business, her reputation, her peace. So every time she collides with Odetona, it’s not just cute. It’s costly.

3. Healing after Rakim

What I loved most is that Nahima isn’t looking to be “saved.” She’s looking to choose herself. Post-Rakim Nahima is tired, guarded, and focused on levelling up. Watching her navigate desire while protecting her heart felt so real.

This is character-driven fiction with emotional depth, family, and tension that lingers. It’s messy, it’s honest, and it’s the kind of book that stays with you.

The Man I Collided Into is such an amazing read.This is the second book in the series, and I genuinely enjoyed seeing how Nahima’s story continued.

This book deals with anxiety, mental health, healing, family issues, self-discovery, love and second chances, and I really loved how these themes were woven into the story.

Nahima was probably one of my favourite parts of this book. After everything she went through in the first book, I loved seeing her rebuild herself, start her business, and become more independent.

Her struggles with anxiety felt very real, and I appreciated seeing both her vulnerable moments and her strength. She wasn’t perfect, and that honestly made her more relatable. Watching her navigate love while also trying to understand herself and deal with everything going on in her head was something I really enjoyed.

Odetona was such an interesting character because there was so much more to him than what initially met the eye.

His own struggles, especially with his health and the way he viewed life, added another emotional layer to the story. I loved the way he and Nahima slowly went from two people who couldn’t seem to stand each other to something much deeper.

Their chemistry?!!!!
The banter, the arguments, the tension!!!! I was seated!! Even though I was angry at Nahima at some point!!! That girl stressed me Ehn!!!

I also really enjoyed how their relationship wasn’t just about romance. They both had things they were dealing with individually, and somehow they became part of each other’s healing journey.

This book made me laugh, worry, get emotional, and occasionally want to shake the characters. But most importantly, it reminded me that sometimes healing doesn’t happen all at once. Sometimes it happens while you’re learning to love, trust and choose yourself again.

I really enjoyed this book, and I’m definitely curious about what comes next in the series.

The Man I Collided Into is a book I've been anticipating since I read a snippet from TBIKNMC. As expected, this book is more swoony than the first book and we saw a lot of growth and impressive maturity displayed by the FMC, Nahima, even though she still had small "choko."

The MMC of this book is a real man. I don't like comparing, but I have to say this, the title is apt! BOY for TBIKNMC because that is what Rakim is and MAN for TMICI because that is what my TONA is!!! I love that man so much. I get that he was secretive, quite annoying, and a lot in Nahima's space (through the corners), but hey, if the man who loves you with the whole of his life, even when he's got limited time, doesn't exhibit these characters, does he really love you?! 🌚😂 This is not love bombing because he knew when to stay away when he became unbearable for Nahima. So, yeah, Tona is on point! 😝

Nahima is a woman you have to use patience to understand if not, you'll just end up hating or even unfriending her. She had her trauma, right from book 1, but in this book, she didn't really dwell on it that much, but she was stubborn. Ah, Nahima is a stubborn lady! Regardless, I love her for who she is and grew to become. A lady who doesn't mix business with pleasure and is very focused on the bag? Just the kind of woman I want in my circle. ❤️

Overall, this book is not just romance; it is layered and will have you sit and reflect with the characters to know why they act the way they do. Nahima and Tona are my people and I love them so much. I was on my toes to hear them admit their feelings for each other and was happy when they eventually did. With themes like billionaire romance, forced proximity, business and pleasure tension, plus-size and sharp tongued FMC, and a good amount of spice, you honestly don't want to miss out on this masterpiece!

Okay, first of all, I really enjoyed this one.

I’ll be honest, I was a little confused at the beginning because of the references to the whole “Rakim fiasco.” I had no idea what had happened before this, so I felt like I was missing some context. But that aside, once I settled into the story, I was fully in.

I really enjoyed Nahima and Odetona. Their whole “colliding into each other” situation was so funny and cute. But beyond the fun and the romance, I think what I appreciated most was the emotional depth of their story.

There was something about seeing two people who were both dealing with their own things and slowly finding their way back to themselves that really stayed with me. I especially loved that neither of them became the other person's “saviour.” They didn't magically fix each other. They both had to make the decision to work on themselves, choose themselves, and become better versions of themselves. They just happened to find someone who could walk alongside them while they did it.

I also really loved how grounded everything felt. Odetona is wealthy, Nahima is doing big things with her business, but I never got the feeling that I was reading about characters who were so wealthy that they had become completely removed from reality. There was still that very Nigerian feel to their lives, and I really appreciated that.

And honestly, Aminat surprised me with this one. This is my second book by her, and the first one I read was a Yoruba mythology, so seeing her do something completely different and still pull it off this well? I loved that for me. 😂

I think what I'll remember most about this book is the reminder that sometimes healing isn't about someone coming along to save you. Sometimes it's about finding the courage to choose yourself again, and having someone beside you while you do.

I definitely want to read more from Aminat Sanni-Kamal after this.

The Man I Collided Into by Aminat Sanni-Kamal is Book #2 in the Kinda Maybe series.

This is about Nahima, a businesswoman looking for investors for her beauty business, who quite literally collides into the billionaire investor looking to invest in her business. That messy-ass collision ignites a very tiny flame that soon turns into an inferno that can’t be put out. Not even by the acute awareness of how uncertain everything is.

What I really love about the two main characters in this book is that they’re real. They’re people you know. Of course, not everyone knows a billionaire — but everyone knows a Nahima. Sometimes we even are Nahima. She’s so relatable: tired, stressed, depressed and not in the aesthetic way, but in the really ugly, scary, dark way. The voice in Nahima’s head is vicious. Like the majority of us. The self-criticism is so harsh, so vile, so sad.

Yet it doesn’t weigh down the reading experience, because the author so adeptly informs us and paints a picture of this character without banging us over the head with it.

Odetona is the perfect calm to Nahima’s storm. They’re both flawed and broken, and still they’re perfect for each other in that way.

I love the texture of this book. It’s cute, with just enough yearning to not drive you crazy. It’s also honest. We witness two people who find each other, fall apart together, and build themselves back up. Two people on a journey of healing, equally beautiful and equally enamoured with each other. And the stakes are built high enough that every tension earns its place. I was kicking and gasping and squealing and sniffling just the right amounts.

After everything Nahima endured at the hands of Rakim in book one, Tona is the palate cleanser and breath of fresh air we all needed.

Nahima is someone I enjoy reading because of how funny and childish she is with her running mouth😂. What I love about this is that she could stand on her own even with all the obstacles especially what that big headed Rakim did to her self esteem
Nahima and Tona compliment each other because of how they understand each other even if Nahima says hurtful sometimes(I understand her ooo because it's for his benefit, who go sit down dey look make the love of her life they die dey go, even me sef I no go gree) She was the push Tona needed to get better for himself
Finally I love how ASK talked about mental health without taking much from her life even if it was the centre, it was so well done
Overall this was a 10/10 read for me and it deserves a five ⭐ I expect nothing less because it's the AMINAT SANNI KAMAL

ARC Review

This story begins with Nahima, a rising entrepreneur who desperately needs investment to keep her growing business afloat. After sending proposals to several investors and receiving only one positive response, she is understandably skeptical about attending the meeting.

On the other hand, we have Odetona, a young billionaire secretly battling a life-threatening illness, unbeknownst to his friends and colleagues.

When Odetona later comes across Nahima’s business proposal, he sees the potential in her and decides he might be willing to invest in her business, if she can convince him in person that her idea is as promising as it looks on paper. But everything changes when he unexpectedly collides with Nahima. What starts as a simple encounter quickly turns into something he can't seem to shake off. He finds himself constantly thinking about her, even when he has every reason not to.


I don't want to give away too many spoilers, but Odetona and Nahima’s story is one you’ll definitely want to dive into. Watching their paths cross and seeing how that unexpected collision develops into something neither of them anticipated made the story even more intriguing.

I really enjoyed this story from the very beginning. I loved reading about two flawed individuals with trauma and health issues they’re dealing with and having to learn to be vulnerable with each other while letting go of fear of the unknown and also the past that has shaped their current realities.

Odetona is such a green flag MMC and I really liked reading his character, his maturity and how he shows up for Nahima. I like how he grew from being a fatalist to seeing that he could live a full life with Naima. This book treats mental health and chronic illness issues with great care💕💕💕

I also liked Nahima’s business savvy nature, how her character is written to be this very open, flawed character dealing with mental health issues and finally learning to let go of the fear of her past and seeking refuge in Odetona.

I enjoyed this book up until the epilogue which I felt was not necessary. I didn’t think Odetona had to do that especially because of how he and Nahima have been in relation to their religious beliefs and practices. It was honestly giving a hint of religious bias and I won’t lie, I didn’t see that coming. I don’t read religious romance novels so I wasn’t expecting that ending at all

Beautiful, Personal, and Full of Heart

The Man I Collided Into is such a beautiful story. Just like the first book in this series, it felt so personal, and I loved every part of it.

The story begins when Nahima literally collides into Odetona—the very man whose investment she needs for her business.

Tona was smitten from the start, but he was also afraid to fully embrace his feelings because of his medical condition. I really appreciated the research the author put into this aspect of the story and how beautifully it was handled.

Nahima is skeptical about Tona and struggles with believing in herself, but I loved how Tona supported her every step of the way. The way he chose Nahima and stood by her was so beautiful to read.

One thing that stood out to me was the language and cultural elements in this story. The lingo felt so personal and familiar. Books don’t often resonate with me on such a personal level, but this one truly did.

This is a 5-star read, and I highly recommend it.

After reading about Nahima in the first book of the Kinda Maybe series, seeing and ranting about how she was so gullible and annoying at love and relationships, I was excited reading about her in this book and how much she has grown and able to handle certain situations.

I loved how determined to grow NH Beauty and how realistic her character was while reading the book, for sure there should be one Nahima that we have once encountered.

A big thumbs up to Odetona, an intentional man through and through. I liked how he encouraged and walked with Nahima through healing and always wanting her to be the best version of herself. Though fighting his own demons, I am glad how love also found him when he wasn't looking.

Nahima and Odetona are both complex characters on their own looking for answers and they turned out to be characters that I liked as they were written so beautifully well.

Overall the story is about perseverance, healing, love, determination and so much more.

Just finished The Man I Collided Into by Aminat Sanni-Kamal, and it was such a fun and interesting read. It’s a billionaire, he fell first romance, I’m used to reading the Western billionaire romance trope, but this was different, with the religious difference between the MMC and FMC, and genuinely complex problems for both of them. It wasn’t just petty issues or drama they had serious, real adult problems to tackle, the kind you don’t often see in books, like mental health and going to therapy. That’s part of why I liked it so much.
It was a really nice read, even though I didn’t enjoy some of the dialogue. I’d like to read more from this author. The author clearly did a lot of research into the themes, you can tell it wasn’t lazy writing, and for that I had to rate it 4 stars.

He's dying, she's clinically depressed - a match made in... After reading the first book, I looked forward to reading this and I wasn't disappointed. I liked the characters and the character development, especially how their issues were dealt with and not glossed over. A happy ending too. Lovely read
