Deadly Little Promises: A Dark Bully Romance

Rate this book
Vindictive. Savage. Deadly. Villains.

The horsemen made a move and took me from my kingdom.

There’s one thing they didn’t expect though.

The truth.

With an alliance formed and our world thrown into war, we either choose sides or die for those we love.

There are rules to warfare but rules are meant to be broken and so are kings.

Our enemies know it. And I’ll be the one they use to prove it.

Deadly Little Promises is book three in the Kings of Bolten series and is a dark mafia academy romance with four kings and their queen.

The Kings Of Bolton are back in this installment and they are INTENSE this time. The tension and devotion within this installment is incredibly chiseled. Every moment Bianca shared with her boys was absolutely wild and I was all in for it. I want to shout so much about this book, but I don't want to spoil it, so if you like intensity, spicy passion, betrayals, secrets & devotion, then grab this one up, but be warned, the ending will have you thirsting for more!⠀

The audiobook is phenomenal. Blair Thatcher, Joe Arden, Devon Ryder, Liam Dicasimo, Anthony Palmini & Jameson Adams bring us utter perfection with voicing these characters. The way they bring the emotions woven within the story....I could feel their heartbreak, their love, their anger, all as if it was my own! This audiobook was out of this world addicting and I can't wait for the next one! ⠀

As the story progress within Deadly Little Promises; book 3 from Kings of Bolten Academy, the tensions continue to rise more and more with no end in sight.
Then again with a narrative thats continuous journey had you weaving through even more drama, lies and deceit and mystery given the secrets, building upon the ongoing suspense, it was to be expected.
Bianca and her Kings; Dom, Vin and Levin and Fallon’s journey continued on being non-stop go, go, go. Facing and trying to overcome many situations and events that arose with battles to be fought individually and together at times too. Both inner and outer.

As for the narration performance to Deadly Little Promises, yet again some of the narrators flew high continuing to knock it out of the park, while others flew down low.

Devon Ryder who voiced Vin was my number one favourite, continuing to portray Vin to a tee, no matter what occurred or took place, and the emotion called for in hat moment. Devon gave it his all.

Blair Thatcher, Anthony Palmini and Jameson Adams who voiced Bianca, Fallon and Levin continued in doing a good job. Particularly Anthony who definitely grew more into it, especially towards the end given the situation.

When it came to Liam Dicosimo who performed as Drake, I don’t have to much to say as his character’s voice hasn’t had the chance to shine through fully. And so only time will tell over the course of the rest of the series if he will fly high or low.

Dom is not only an alpha, but he is a King and leads the King. So I would expect that strong, tough, assertiveness in his voice. However no surprise that was not the case, again Joe Arden just spoke the words so monotonously it led to a dead, dull and flat performance.

Whoever narrated for Tate made him sound weird, as if he was slurring his words without actually hearing the slur, it sounded sideways to me with the way they were speaking.
And as for Stefan Seeley, whoever did the narration for him made him sound like a bad version of a surfer dude. It was not at all what I expected him to sound like and definitely could’ve been a lot better.

Just like the previous audiobooks from Kings of Bolten, Deadly Little Promises was saved by the great voices of some who managed to carry it forward and high. Making it a good performance overall.
Despite the lacking of others who just didn’t seem to carry their weight in my opinion.

*Audiobook Review*

These books are a rough ride and this one takes a definite turn. I read this on release back in 2022 and despite knowing how bleak things are getting I was still hooked. There are moves in this book which draw lines in the sand that will be very hard to come back from.

This is a full cast narration with stellar performances all round. Blair Thatcher is quickly becoming one of my favourite narrators; her performance as Bianca has me completely gripped. I struggle a little with Bianca as we get flashes of who she could be but she is her own worst enemy half the time. How many times is Fallon going to break her heart before the series is over? F-word by name, F-word by nature. He is definitely in his villain era and I can't see how this is ever going to be made right.

At this point I think Vinnie is the only one who hasn't directly hurt Bianca with Dom taking things a step too far which broke my heart. These guys were just on the right side of possessiveness but with all the secrets, miscommunication and lying to each other it is making it hard to root for them and I genuinely am starting to second guess who is end game. It's interesting seeing the Horsemen from an outsiders perspective with the cracks in their relationship with Rosalie starting to show too. I loved seeing the connection between Cole and Bianca though; I wouldn't be mad if he ousted Aubrey as Bianca's number one bestie.

My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read

The series keeps growing, and it keeps getting better. There’s more chaos than before, and the plot keeps thickening! Wow, that’s all I gotta say — this 3rd book will take you on a ride of emotions/feelings, all of which will have you saying “what!” or “why!” a lot, but that’s okay because it adds to the story lol.

K.G. Reuss knows what she’s doing by feeding us and breaking us at the same time lol. The story buildup is phenomenal. The character growth is top-notch — with each character, you get a glimpse of something different. You get to experience things through their eyes, which is one of my favorite things.

The narration, as always, is done perfectly. The narrators find a way to bounce off each other to create one phenomenal story, bringing the author’s work to life!

If you’re looking for something that has chaos, spice, found family, secrets, plotting, plans, and enemies-to-lovers with college & secret society vibes, this is the series for you!

I love the author’s work — she has a way of highlighting the story with the perfect amount of chaos and leaving us on the edge of our seats with the endings she gives us.

Overall, it’s a series I’ll definitely recommend to anyone I know who’s into books like this.

Special thank you to the author and Blue Nose Audio for the opportunity to receive this ALC. As always, these are my honest thoughts and words.

And yes, I can’t wait for the next one!!

I know I keep saying it but this series just keeps getting better. K.G. Reuss does not and will not let you rest. There will be no breaks in action. You will be constantly trying to figure out who’s on what side. You will question who to root for and then you will do it all over again when you get to the end. This book is just one crazy thing after another for Bianca and her men. The pressure of keeping everyone safe is really getting to Dominic and causing him to make some very questionable decisions. This book leaves you in a pretty bleak place with no real road to HEA that I can see. I’m sure K.G will surprise me and make it all work out.
The audio is once again top notch. Full cast, seamless and keeps you on your toes the whole time. I am quite literally feral for the next book in this series and I can’t wait to see how all of this madness plays out.
Small side note. This series has always had some pretty intense content but this one in particular has some potentially huge triggers. Please check the warnings before you proceed. Stay safe!

The way I consumed this audio in 1 day!!!! KG Ruess didn’t come to play with book 3 of the Kings of Bolton!

The amount of action that was in this book kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time! The crossover for the horseman had me instantly want to go and read her whole back log! The spice hit every single time! Dominic’s sheer desperation for his wife will give you chills! And that cliffhanger!! I am so nervous for the next book!

The narrators continued to do an amazing job!

Here is the all star cast!
Blair Thatcher as Bianca
Joe Arden as Dominic (He stole the show for me on this one!)
Jameson Adams as Levin
Liam Dicosimo as Drake
Devon Ryder as Vincent
Anthony Palmini as Fallon

So many twists and turns! The ending reveal blew my mind but also made my heart so happy. I keep waiting for some Chapel Crest cross over. I will say that I wish I had read the Horseman story first just to get a deep appreciation for them. Or to have just started at the beginning of the Reuss Universe bc of Liam. I hope book 4 comes out relatively soon but it is understandable that audios of this magnitude need time plus other series going through audio as well. Bravo for such a twisted series! Phenomenal narration!
