Heel: A Paws & Probable Cause Mystery

A Paws & Probable Cause Mystery
'Tis the season for secrets, suspicion, and a dog who saw everything.

Margot Bancroft was the queen of Tidal Cove society. Her Christmas gala was the invitation everyone wanted. Her smile could open doors or destroy reputations.

By morning, she was dead in her study. And the only witness isn't talking.

Duchess, Margot's prized Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, was in the room when it happened. Now she's traumatized, aggressive, and won't let anyone near the body. Anyone except Wren Calloway.

Called in to help the frightened dog, Wren quickly realizes Duchess holds the key to everything. The little spaniel knows who killed her owner. She just can't say it.

The Bancroft family has enough secrets to fill a crypt. The golden son with gambling debts. The daughter written out of the will. The husband with a wandering eye. Everyone had motive. Everyone has alibis that don't quite hold.

As the Christmas clock ticks down, Wren must decode what Duchess witnessed before the killer silences the only witness, permanently.

A holiday cozy mystery with old-money intrigue, a traumatized dog who needs a hero, and twists you won't see coming. Book 2 in the Paws & Probable Cause series.

cozy

I loved the Christmas atmosphere at Wren’s house. A lovely view was always depicted! I like that the animals are a big part of this book series. I was thinking the Jonah thing would take longer to develop! Old money has always had a dark essence about it and for good reason- generations have bad deeds go unchecked!!

People, pets & intrigue

Characters growing into real people...ones you'd like to know. Weaving a tale that is more fully true because of a woman and her love of animals. Fun, and heartwarming...reality.

Endings rarely surprise me but this one did

A great murder mystery. So many suspects. So many reasons to kill someone. So many cross ties between suspects, yet the real murderer surprised me!

Dogs finding the bad guys

I like the way the truth was found by listening to the dogs. And some of the dogs learning and adjusting. And the woman who listened to the dogs.
