Pride & Prejudice & Dinosaurs

Rate this book
Jane Austen meets Jurassic Park in this witty adventure where love, lies, and dinosaurs collide.

"It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife—and a pack of velociraptors to defend his estate."

In a world where dinosaurs roam the English countryside and a young lady's reputation can be ruined by one misstep with a stegosaurus, Elizabeth Bennet has more to worry about than just the insufferably proud Mr. Darcy. When their witty banter is interrupted by six tons of enraged triceratops, she discovers that the arrogant gentleman is surprisingly handy with a sword—and that navigating Regency society is nothing compared to dodging prehistoric predators.

Complete with rampaging dinosaurs, underground fighting rings, charming scoundrels with dark secrets, and one very determined heroine who refuses to be intimidated by either social conventions or tyrannosaurs, Pride and Prejudice and Dinosaurs transforms Austen's beloved classic into something far more adventurous.

Perfect for readers who want clean romance, witty banter, and thrilling adventure without graphic content.

I rounded up on this one because I don't want to be too harsh. I mean, I wasn't exactly expecting a grand opus going into something like this. I was expecting something fun and silly and, for the most part, I guess it was.

But there just felt like there was something lacking...

Like, I enjoyed Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, but part of that was because of the absurdity of having long passages directly cribbed from Austen, and then zombies.

This book felt almost like it would've been better if it tried to just do Regency with dinosaurs, and didn't try to fit it around Pride & Prejudice. It felt too constrained, and the times where lines were cribbed directly from Austen, it was actually a little jarring because of all the writing that wasn't, which didn't really mimic the original all that well in places.

Aside from that, I almost felt like we were getting a riff of the movie version of Pride & Prejudice, because it hit the big notes from the movie, but a lot of the social commentary was missing out. Which, don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of the movie, but this definitely read like a fan of the movie wrote it, as opposed to a fan of the book.

Also, this book somehow messed up the romance? Like, how do you take Lizzy and Darcy and then somehow not get the feel of Lizzy and Darcy?

I think it was mostly the ending. I really didn't like that this book didn't resolve things, and instead left it open to be continued in the next book... which, despite the addition of pirates - another thing I love - I can't say I have any real impetus to jump into.

I just finished devouring Pride & Prejudice & Dinosaurs! It's the classic tale of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy, but with plenty of dinosaur hijinks and action. This story seamlessly blends Jane Austen's classic romance with an alternate history featuring prehistoric beasts in Regency England.

If you're a fan of Austen, dinosaurs, or a fresh twist on a classic romance, you'll love this book. It's a delightful tale that will leave you cheering for Lizzy and her dino-mite match.

surprisingly enjoyable

This is a very different take on pride and prejudice but I really enjoyed it. Honestly I was shocked to find something that fit my niches so well and then to find the next one adds pirates.. truly my fate was sealed to regard this books in high esteem. Honestly a silly and fun read of a compelling love story. Will absolutely read again.

Mr. Darcy and Dinosaurs!!

This was the best P&P variation by far. More action and alot more scenes with Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. The author kept the personalities of each character perfectly. I've already preordered the next book.

Silly but entertaining

Absolute fantasy with dinosaurs on estates throughout England and our dear couple involved in saving a rare egg and saving lots of people from dinosaurs. Follows most of canon outline, with dinosaurs scrambled into the mix.
