The girls find their newly claimed criminal empire under threat when a sleazy hustler blackmails them for more money than they have. Can they get it together in time and keep control of the Hell's Kitchen underworld?
Originally from Kent, Ollie now lives in Brighton. He studied Film, Radio and Television at Canterbury Christchurch University while pursuing a career in writing. First in the comics/graphic novel industry with works including THE KITCHEN and SNOW BLIND, then in TV and film. He’s currently writing an episode of the Paramount+ adaptation of SEXY BEAST.
In Issue 2, the ladies of the Kitchen continue to hang tough, kick butt, collect money...and get abused because of their gender. The panel compositions and dialogue still feel like a TV show to me (not a bad thing) and the colors and line work are still as crisp and 70s as a stylish pantsuit. I would like to learn more about these women. Clearly, Raven is traditional, Kath is hard-boiled, and Angie is getting over her timidity. They seem to be mothers as well. I'd just like more backstory! I have issues 3 and 4 queued up, so we'll see where it goes.
I'm not quite sure how I feel about Kitchen #2, I mainly just wish there were more details on the characters and the actual story. I might continue with the next issue just to see if it picks up a bit.
