Some people believe you get what you pay for. In DropApple, you pay for what you get. A bruised, Midwestern fever dream, this is the story of Alan, a drunken madman, so busy reflecting on his thoughts that he misses every opportunity at success and happiness. Sophia, the hopeful young daughter of this failure incarnate, watching her father struggle to be anything at all. Karl, the wholly decent everyman who gives Alan the chance he needs just as he reaches rock bottom. Gregory Planchet, the barefoot philosopher, the traveler with singular ambition, standing perfectly still on a random forest path. And finally Gash, the unsettled punk rocker girl with anger issues, striving to discover her pot of gold, or her chance of a lifetime. This is a quick tale of lives intersecting. There is goodness and disappointment and hope and confusion. Your bloody hand can be explained, and the grand piano in your shed will be worth keeping forever. Just be careful, when you lay down on the ground, not to get too comfortable. You might be a DropApple too.
This is a short story that describes how the lives of multiple people are all tied together. There is alot of detail worked in for such a quick read. To feel empathy, sadness, anger, pity and vengeance all so quickly is a real testament to the author's story telling skill. Highly recommended.
