The Narrator: A Dark Romance

Rate this book
Natalie Green finds comfort in the seductive voice of romance audiobook narrator Dean Craven, a man whose identity is hidden behind a mask but whose voice has been the center of her fantasies. After another terrible week working for a toxic boss and roommate gone for the week, all she wants to do is curl up and listen to her audiobook boyfriend. But when a tall, tattooed, British stranger moves into the Airbnb next door Natalie’s attention shifts and fast. Their chemistry is instant, magnetic, and very hard to ignore.

Famous for his voice as Dean Craven, he is intensely private as Dean Roberts, and does everything he can to make sure his identity is hidden. Captivated by Natalie from afar for a year on social media, Dean decides to take a reckless chance by booking the Airbnb next door and take a temporary job at her media company to protect her from the terrible workplace that’s been slowly breaking her spirit.

Complicating things further Dean’s younger brother, Teddy, hijacked his trip. Struggling with his career he turns to his brother in desperate need for help and advice. What began as an unwanted intrusion soon became an unexpected chance to confront old wounds and rebuild the bond they thought to be long gone.

As Dean and Natalie become closer, secrets threaten to get revealed. Not only his, but everyone in their inner circle, including the company they work for.

I've always had a soft spot for good storytelling and even better tension.

After I got my Bachelor's degree in Journalism and English: Writing and Literacy I gained experience in online media and social media management. After a peak behind the curtain of corporate 9-5 I was inspired to write my debut novel, The Narrator.

The Narrator, dives straight into the shadows, where desire is dangerous, secrets simmer, and no one is ever as innocent as they seem.

I love reading stories that are full of spice, humor, and plot twists that leave me speechless!

I live with my amazing, supportive husband and our two kitties Artemis and Shadow. I always have either a Dr. Pepper Zero or some kind of tea in my hand, and I can talk about Marvel, Supernatural, or Friends all day long!

4.5 ⭐️s! This book truly had me giggling and kicking my feet. I absolutely loved this story, it is so different than most books. A spicy book narrator mmc? absolutely obsessed with both the mmc and fmc. Their dynamic was cute, flirty, and most importantly ✨spicy✨! I devoured this book in less than 24hours. As far as dark romances goes I would put this on the more mild side, but still love a good stalking trope. Very excited to read the next book in the series!

The concept of this book is very unique as in hes a voice actor and she works with the the voice actors. It all started with one drunk dm to make him obsessed with her. I love the interactions with the main characters and also the side characters! November can not come soon enough 🎟

I was completely captivated from start to finish. Natalie Green is so relatable her exhaustion from a toxic work environment and her quiet longing for escape through Dean Craven’s voice pulled me in immediately. When the mysterious, tattooed British neighbor shows up, the chemistry between Natalie and Dean is electric, sizzling with tension yet sweetly tender at the same time.
The twist of Dean’s double life Dean Craven, the audiobook heartthrob, versus Dean Roberts, the intensely private man is handled beautifully, keeping you on the edge of your seat. The subplot with Teddy adds depth and heart, giving the story an unexpected layer of family and personal growth.
What I loved most was how the romance isn’t just surface-level attraction; it’s built on real connection, emotional healing, and confronting past wounds. Secrets, workplace drama, and personal struggles keep the stakes high without overshadowing the romance.
This is a smart, sexy, and emotional read that will stay with you long after the last page. If you love contemporary romance with a dash of mystery, irresistible chemistry, and layered characters, this is it.

what a great start to a series!

I genuinely enjoyed this book. Good plot points, and a super fun concept. Her favorite narrator and being the object of his affection. Great found family vibes, and build up of characters. Plus the spice was spicing. I’m very excited to dig into book two. Great debut novel!

I was absolutely hooked from the start and could not stop reading. I loved the MMC so much and just want more of him and the FMC. The plot was really well done and captivating and I did not expect the twist towards the end. I was sad to finish the book bevause i just wanted more. I did notice a few typos or editing errors but it did not impact the read at all.
