Baseball, graduation, and getting drafted. That’s where Rhys Burton’s focus needs to be. Falling into a fake romance to save face in front of his cheating ex (and the teammate she cheated with) isn’t on his agenda. Neither is starting to develop real feelings for Lexie. But here he is…

Taking place on the campus on Dashwood University. We meet Rhys, popular baseball pitcher in his senior year and Lex, the shy sophomore bookroom. This fake dating sports romance was a cute read. After three years of dating Brooklyn, Rhys walking in on her cheating with his teammate. Of course the two break up but due to the baseball overlap, the three continue being in shared spaces. We've seen the growing interest between Rhys and Lexie in book 1 and here is continues to grow. As the two spend more time, it soon becomes are in too deep and are both waiting for one make the move. I enjoyed the fact the Rhys remains consistent throughout despite Brooklyn attempting to spin the block. Once Rhys and Lexie, admit their feelings and stop pretending, the heat between the two kicks up a few notches.
This was a very realistic read about teo college students. As a popular athlete, I appreciate the author showcasing all the outside temptations that come with that role. There was a pivotal moment where the MMC realized how his perception of what her considered friendly was impacting his relationship. This was a positive character development moment I appreciated. Lexie's innocence was evident in her attachment. I felt it depicted just how emotionally involved one can become after sharing something that meaning. Baby girl so Im gon follow my man wherever the draft takes him LOL. I love the friendship and connections that were evident in the storyline.
This was such a solid fake dating sports romance. Lexie and Rhys have great chemistry right away, and I liked how their relationship developed without feeling rushed. The mix of college life and baseball worked really well, and the added tension from Rhys’s past kept things interesting. It had a good balance of sweet moments, light angst, and just enough spice to keep it engaging. If you enjoy fake dating with a bit of emotional depth, this is definitely worth picking up.
The One I Can’t Resist, is such a cute and quick read. It was good to read a book that didn’t stress me out. Lol What do you do after you find your girlfriend of three years cheating on you with your teammate? Well you break up with her of course! Rhys is our MMC and in all of the other books in this series he’s always been the levelheaded and lovable friend, and so it was good to see him come to the forefront in this story. Lexie is our FMC for this story her and Rhys were initially paired together on a class project where their interest first piqued with each other. He happens to run into her in the diner that she works in, and while there his ex and his teammate, who also is his roommate, pops up and comes over to him in which he then says that she’s his girlfriend. What started off as the fake dating trope soon becomes much more when they just can’t resist their feelings for each other.. at first he was hesitant because he had just been in a long relationship, but he realized that Lexie was nothing like Brooklyn. this story does move pretty quickly and so things that pop up that might be conflict or resolved rather quickly, which I appreciate. Brooklyn the ex who cheated was somewhat of a piece of work in this story because it’s like girl you messed up and now that you have seen him move on be happy you want that whole thing back but girl get away. This is a this is a spicy read. Yes even though our FMC is a virgin we get to see her come to her sexuality and explore it with her new boo too. I do like that explores the ups and downs of dating an athlete, especially if you’re someone who is more reserved like our FMC and we have a popular MMC who has girls always approaching him like most men he was oblivious to it and thought it was innocent at first, but I’m glad that he got his act together when it came to that so that she could feel super secure. I would’ve loved to have seen more in the story with their timeline of him getting drafted but it seems like all that was worked out. Now I kind of feel like that was something that was rushed, but hey, you know when you’re young and in love, sometimes you do things in a faster pace. I can’t wait for the next read.
Thank you to Teralyn Mitchell for the E-ARC! This was my first book in this series however I didn’t feel lost on who characters were or what was going on. I really enjoyed this cute , short story about Rhys and Lexie! I do wish we got a little more insight about the project and class that they had together just to see the build up. But that didn’t detract from the story as a whole , just nice to have.
I enjoyed the realistic college theme of being a student athlete as well as dating a student athlete who is also going through his struggle of trust. All the girls walking up to him as well as Brooklyn had me feeling like I was Lex big sister ready to pop her on the head and Rhys for being so naive about these girls advances.
I was shocked when Lexie said she would pick up and move with Rhys after getting drafted BUT she is a college student who just found her first love so it def gives “omg girl what you doing” vibes 😂 live your life sis!
This is a good low drama ,spicy read! I plan on going back to read the first 2 books in the series and I know the next one will be HOT with tension!

This one is coming in HAWT! Lexie has liked Rhys from the moment she met him. Yet she knows there's no way he could feel the same way about her. Rhys thinks Lexie is so cute and always was friendly with her but he never crossed the "friend line" with her. One evening, they bump into each other and while they're talking, up steps his ex-girlfriend with his ex-teammate that she left him for. When his ex asks Lexie who she is, Rhys claims her as his current girlfriend before Lexie can speak up. Well, friends don't let friends get sideswiped by do-dirty ex's, so she goes along with it. Which makes Rhys more than happy than he lets on. Soon the pretense isn't enough for him and he tells her so. Then they're HAWT and heavy and they can't believe how well they fit together. But can they stay together or will jealousy, insecurities, lies and a vindictive ex come between them? I truly was into this one. Rhys was very real with her and treated all of her concerns with patience and her heart with care. Plus they were just so CUTE together! This review is my opinion and is not AI generated.
Rhys and Lexie's story is sweet and short, and their friend group is supportive and fun. This book is dialogue-heavy, with the characters explaining more about how they feel than showing it. Since the characters met in history class, I wished for a bit more detail (which class was it? What was their project?) - little details to build out the Dashwood world that would give me more of a sense of why they fell for each other, other than they thought the other was attractive. Rhys is supportive of his friends and Lexie (he offers to proofread her paper for her!) - these little details left me wanting to know more! Like, Lexie is at the end of her sophomore year, so what did she choose as her major?
A fun, quick, low-stakes read when you need something a little spicy with no third-act breakup.
*Opinions are my own, thanks to the author for an eARC of this book.
It's a short and sweet college romance between a star college athlete and the shy girl who he's worked with on a project! I wish we got a little more of their project together, but its so sweet. This book was literally so so adorable and an excellent palette cleanser of a read! Rhys and Lexie have such great chemistry and banter - it is so easy to fall in love with them and root for them. It was a low-angst story for me with typical college aged drama and struggles! I feel like Lexie is every college girl with some insecurities as she's dating a hot shot at school. There was one point where I wanted to shake Lexie and be like GURL FOCUS ON YOUR EDUCATION AND NOT THIS BOY! I really appreciated Rhys ability to grow and take accountability for how his actions were impacting Lexie. I feel like this is the perfect palette cleanser with spice and easily loveable characters! I also loved that there are so many side characters to get to know - with books of their own!!
This was a cute light fake dating baseball romance. It follows Rhys, a senior star pitcher, and Lexie, a sophomore virgin who knows nothing about “sportsball”. I am always a sucker for a fake dating sports romance. I also enjoyed seeing some character growth in the mmc as he realized that not every girl who spoke to him truly wanted to be just friends. He started prioritizing how his girlfriend felt rather than being worried about “being nice”. I am looking forward to the next book where we will get to learn some more about some of the side characters, Cecilia and Trey.
Rhys and Lexie...I 100% adored these two. That ex was a whole mess and didn't deserve an ounce of time on the pages, but I understand she was a part of Rhys's story. When he met Lexie, Rhys just wanted to finish school and get drafted, but Lexie made him want more. Their story was good, I thought they meshed well together. It seemed like Rhys was all in when it came to Lexie, and I enjoyed seeing everyone back together again. I've enjoyed Dashwood U - an extension of Rosa Oaks universe. Happy Reading Y'all!💋
Book 3 in the Dashwood U series was a cute novella, fake dating turned real love. I love the cover 👌🏾.The story of Rhys and Lexi. Rhys the senior and star pitcher baseball athlete and Lexi the sophomore bookworm. I felt like the sexual scenes were over the top for this book and this prevented me from really loving the flow. I didn't like the premise of a woman picking up and following a man anywhere he lands, without even fully understanding who they are as an individual. I did love seeing the characters from the previous two series.

Fast paced, and low angst, this is an easy read. Lexie brings that relatable book girl energy, while Rhys has a soft, secretly into her charm that grows on you as he starts to get it right. The fake dating setup and lingering ex add just enough drama to keep things moving. The writing is very descriptive, repetitive at times, and it still delivers a cute college romance about young adults coming into themselves.
This was a fun read. Rhys is recovering from Brooklyn's betrayal. He asked Lexie to be his fake date at a team dinner. But there is nothing fake about how these two feel about each other. This is a sweet story of two people getting to know each other as they fall for each other. It's wonderful to see how Lexie fits into Rhys friend group and how they accept her. She has found her man and her tribe. he found tge 9ne.
Teralyn’s books are such a delight! They’re fun, have a lot of teasing banter, a lovely found family, and they’re totally low angst. I loved that this one had almost no drama. It made for a fun, sweet, and easy read!
Rhys is coming off some hurt from the last book, but I loved seeing him not let his past ruin what he could have with Lexie. Lexie is such a breath of fresh air! She slid right into the friend group like she belonged there and I loved that for them and her!
**Arc Review** I was looking forward to Rhys' story because of how the last book ended. I like Teralyn's writing style but this one didn't land for me. I love the fake dating trope but I couldn't connect to the story. I'm still interested in the author's writing though.
Teralyn possesses a talent for crafting stories that are concise, heartfelt, and complete in every detail. This particular story centers on Rhys, who is navigating the aftermath of a heartbreaking breakup, and Lexie, who is discovering her independence and confidence. Their relationship begins as a fake dating scenario, intended as a temporary façade until it naturally dissolves. One aspect I especially appreciated was Lexie’s journey of making autonomous decisions and trusting her instincts, highlighting her growth. Taking a chance on love, especially without much experience, can be daunting, but Lexie’s evolution is both believable and inspiring. Throughout the narrative, we witness Lexie come into her own, gaining maturity and self-assurance. I genuinely enjoyed this story and am eager to explore more works by Teralyn
Maybe it’s me but this series just gets better with each book. We’ve made it to book #3 in the Dashwood University series. The One I Can’t Resist is Rhys and Lexie’s story. This fake dating, friends to lovers romance is a fast, lighthearted read that I couldn’t put down. There’s limited drama and lots of spice. Teralyn Mitchell’s books are like warm blankets on a cold night and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. 4.5 stars Thanks to the author for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
