The Tyrant Alpha's Fated Chase

Rate this book
I spent one forbidden night with my fiancé’s brother—my fated mate.
Five years later, I walked into his wedding.
Worse? He's my new boss, and my secret baby daddy.

I was the cursed Omega no one wanted,
bullied by my sisters, shamed by my father, treated like a stain on the pack.
Becoming the Regent’s wife was supposed to be my only way out—
until my wolf chose his brother instead.
Hayden Drake.
Cold. Dangerous. Feared.
My fated mate.

He carried me through my first shift, kissed me like fate had claimed us,
then threw me away by morning.
So I ran—pregnant.
I rebuilt my life in a new pack, built a career I loved—
Until I walk into a wedding…and the groom is my son’s father.
And Hayden? He cancels the marriage.
then buys my entire company just to corner me in his office.

The bond still burns between us,
but I’m hiding one truth about our baby.
And my real identity?
It might ignite a war that could cost us everything.

2.5 (possible spoilers ahead) This was a very predictable shifter book. Predictable is not necessarily bad, but there’s nothing there that makes you go WOW.

H is supposed to be the Regent? Aka alpha king after his dad died, but his brother, Jameson, made himself king. He wasn’t a good person, so H has been working to bring him down. Jameson killed the parents, but H hasn’t been able to prove it.

h is an abused, shiftless omega. Her 3 sisters and her dad are awful. Why? Because h looks exactly like her mom- who died giving birth to h. 🤪 They blame her for her mom dying.

For some reason, h is picked to marry Jameson. He takes her to his mansion and introduces her at a party. H is there. H and h eyes lock in across the room- Fated Mates! H takes her away from the party, and they do the body tango all night long.
Jameson calls H on the phone, laughing and basically saying h was a person he intentionally set in front of H. (If you really stop and think about this plot, it makes no sense. There are so many plot holes with this whole scheme)

Jameson makes it seem like h is working for him. H, being the dense man that’s typical in these shifter books, then says harsh things to h. He rejects her. He also questions the mate mark on her chest and thinks she faked it. (h’s mate mark is different from every other mate mark)
He then has his men throw her out in front of her home.

By this point, everybody knows that h was with H the night before. So her reputation is ruined
H’s dad hits her, calls her awful names, then exiles her.

5 years later.
We find out H has been looking for h all this time. 3 days after he rejected her, he found out the truth. He also found out how she was abused by her family. We find out much later in the book that H ruined her family.
The *counsel* has told H he has to marry. They already picked her out. She’s an old childhood friend of his. He agrees to the marriage.

h now has a 4-year-old son. She found a new pack 5 years ago, and the alpha of this pack(OM) is sweet on her. He’s a nice guy.
Now this is where I rolled my eyes HARD because h is now a doctor. 🙄🙄 She works with genes and DNA. Rightttttt.

Anyway, OM invites h and her son to a wedding. Not sure who actually takes a 4-year-old to a wedding of people you don’t know, but here we are. 🤪🤪 SURPRISE! H is the groom. H sees h and the kid. At least he’s smart enough to figure out the kid is probably his due to the kid looking just like him. He immediately calls off the wedding (OW is not happy), then a bomb goes off. The guests all scattered.
(I definitely think H would’ve married OW if h wasn’t there)

2 weeks later, the company h works for has a new owner. *shocker* it’s H. Naturally, h is not happy…..BUT it doesn’t take long before they smex it up in the boardroom. 🤓

H wants her back, and he keeps apologizing, but she’s like go away. He won’t actually tell her the truth about anything, or he omits so much. Yikes.

H starts to build a relationship with his son. He’s trying to move from the “uncle” title to the “daddy” title. Seriously, the little boy calls every guy uncle.

At some point, we find out h is some type of Prima matar wolf. The best-of-the-best. Everybody thought they were a myth. Ummm, now everybody wants her.

As with all shifter books, the little boy is kidnapped and taken to Jameson. Jameson is working with OW 🤪🤪 You get the showdown, and H finally ends Jameson. H is now King! OW is jailed.

h has a meeting with her abusive dad and sisters. They are so sorry. She forgives them. Wut??? Oh heck naw. This irritates me. If I had known in the beginning that it would end with forgiveness, I wouldn’t have read this book. I’m petty. I like a good comeuppance. This was not it. In the epilogue, her 3 sisters are very involved in her life. The same sisters who made her eat off the floor and liked to hit her. 😡😡

Finally, H and h get married. They shag. (I did laugh trying to imagine the silky white gown she was wearing, then later, when they took it off, she had black underwear on. 😂 brave woman)

Then weeks later, she’s pregnant again. HEA

Gebre: Paranormal Romance (Wolf Shifters)
⭐️ 3.5/5
🌶 2/5
Cliffhanger: No

This is a fun little book in this genre. If you like the rejected mates trope with a side of tension and paired nicely with a good overarching plot, this is a perfect quick read. Bonus points for a dominant alpha who you only want to throat punch occasionally instead of run over with your car.

Decent, basic rejected mate / second chance story

PLOT:
I liked the plot of this book. It's sort of the typical rejected mate story, but the guy (Hayden) believes he's doing it for a good enough reason. Unfortunately for him and the FMC (Ashley) both, he has the complete wrong idea of what's actually going on, and throws her away after he mates and marks her. Banished from her pack (no love lost there, she had always been bullied and beaten by her sisters and father) and nowhere to go, she just goes as far as she can away from where she grew up until she finds a place to settle down and is taken in by a new pack.

Within weeks, Hayden learns the truth of what happened and that Ashley was innocent of everything. It's too late, though - she's gone without a trace.

The book picks up five years later, and you know that the two main characters are going to meet up again at some point. When they do, Ashley wants nothing to do with him, but Hayden is determined, desperate, to make her his again.

REVIEW:
It's okay. Not bad, not fantastic, but it's okay. I wasn't riveted, there were times my attention strayed and I'd go off to do other things, but I kept coming back to see what happened next. One thing I'm glad for is that Ashley didn't take Hayden back the first time he showed her remorse. Her wolf may have started to soften towards him, but her head took back over and kept him at a bit of a distance. He was also a bit of a jerk for a while, even threatening to bring economic ruin to the pack who took her in if she tried running. I can see the reasoning for some of his actions and things he said, but that one was cruel. It does say near the end of the book that it was in part because he had been alone for so long and forgot how to love properly and show his affection, which does actually explain it, though it doesn't excuse it.
I like the last chunk of the book. The thing they learn about Ashley, the final battle with Hayden and Jameson (one part of it might be a bit cheesy, but we're reading about shifters, so, whatever)... we even get closure about Ashley's family. Realistic closure? Eh.... maybe, maybe not. Nice for her, all the same, though.

There's a few inconsistencies in the book that I noticed. (Small things, like Hayden wasn't wearing a shirt at one point, then he was. Ashley stood up from a chair, they were standing next to each other, then she stood up again despite never sitting back down. Etc.)
Then there's other things.... One part that kind of made me kind of chuckle was the following quote:

"When they smiled at each other with that same glint in their identical eyes, my heart yearned for more. Because when they smile they have this weird glint in their eyes that has your heart yearning for more."

Huh... I think the author is trying to tell us that when they smile at each other, they get a weird glint in their eyes that makes one's heart yearn for more. You think?

Later on in the book, this paragraph is typed out:

"But before I can take even two more steps, strong arms wrap around me from behind, pulling me back against a solid chest. Hayden's face buries in my neck, his breath warm against my skin."

Three-ish pages later:

"But before I can take two steps, strong arms wrap around me from behind, pulling me back against a solid chest. Hayden's face buries in my neck, his breath warm against my skin."

Yeah... I think some editing is needed for this book.

Overall? Good, basic rejected mates / second chance book. Good secondary characters, decent groveling, no insta-forgiveness, decent plot. Four stars.

started off strong but fell victim to contrived conflict

I started off enjoying this book but found myself skipping so many parts towards the end.
Started off strong with a standard victimised omega, rejected but rebuilds her life etc.
The pace then goes a bit haywire after that from him finding her to her finding her powers etc.
A lot of their conflict seem contrived (why even was there so much conflict with his brother to start with) with some bits (her relationship with her sisters) feeling like the author needed to tie everything with a HEA bow with no reference to the amount of healing work such things require.
You do need to suspend belief with fictional work but some of the storyline required too much suspension of belief. Overall an alright read which had the makings of being quite strong.

Packed with raw passion, ruthless power, and the kind of fated bond that keeps you turning pages long past midnight. If you love your alphas intense and your romance dangerous, this one delivers in spades.

Hayden Drake, second son of I'm going to say a King aka Regent, older brother is Jameson who poisoned their mother until she was too weak and passed and their father afterwards making Jameson the Wolf Regent when Hayden was barely 18. Their father named Hayden his successor but Jameson took what wasn;t his and Hayden couldn't get it no matter what proof he proved, hence the Drake brothers' war. He plans to take the girl his brother will claim at the mate hunt celebration not knowing this Silver girl will be a step to bring down his brother for good, until he scented his mate... Something he does not want nor to deal with especially an awaken omega wolf

Ashley 'Volchonok (Hayden's nickname for Ashley)' Silver, 18, unwanted daughter of an Alpha of Silverfang Pack, was 18 when the Regent Jameson came looking for his Mate and being the abused omega her father and three sisters beaten down all because their mother passed away after bringing Ashley into the world, They think she's broken since she has a 'defective' wolf so she would take any chance to get out of her father's home even with a man her wolf senses is wrong. Takes her 'engagement' celebration for her to find her fated mate, Alpha Hayden Drake, Jameson younger brother. One night with her make, marked with a different colored mate mark (not a bit mark but like a ruin like design on her chest) from any normal marked omega. Kicked out of her mate's penthouse, kicked out of the Regents' castle and casted out of her father's house, Ashley ran and gain her freedom into the Snowclaw Pack in a different state with a welcoming pack and caring Alpha. for 5 years she's been free, a mother to her son and geneticist not knowing her true fate self and power she holds....

Reviewed at Shifter Haven

The Tryant Alpha’s Fated Chase is the first title in the Shifter’s Vow series. Hayden’s and Ashley’s story is intense and complicated. Although Ashley may seem weak and defenseless at first, I enjoyed watching her grow into her own power. Born into a family that bullied and shamed her constantly because of her status and her wolf, she will grab at anything that can take her out of these circumstances… even following her father’s commands. Until she discovers her true mate, and soon after their one encounter, finds herself rejected once again… and banished by everyone she knows. Yet she carried the future with her into a new pack, a haven, until years later, she ran into Hayden again. Only this time, he knows she’s his mate, too bad that it’s too little too late.

I liked Ashley and the growth she gave herself, actually. Hard won, due to circumstances that would have broken a weaker woman, but she survived, no, she thrived. Lesson for others to learn: don’t mess with a mama wolf. I wanted to like Hayden, but found it difficult to do so. In all, I found The Tyrant Alpha’s Fated Chase by Jennifer Eve to be an intense, passionate shifter romance with twists and turns galore. It’s a good story, yet I wanted so much more from Hayden, but I was content with Ashley coming into her own on her own terms.

Not a fan of this book

I don't like being critical I know authors put a lot of time in their heart in their books. This one started out really good but started going down the rabbit hole. I can Overlook a few mistakes like Amber eyes and one chapter and silver in the next. What really bring this book for me is it did not stay true to shifters and Fated mates. The Mating Bond is supposed to be so strong that they can feel each other long distances and can't be kept apart. However in this book that did not hold true the MFC left and the MMC didn't find her for 5 years. I've read a lot of these books and I've never heard of a second chance mate. There was too much modern day wove into this book such as paparazzi's , Jets and silly things like pack paperwork. These discrepancies make it hard to stay engaged in the fantasy of a shifter book. I quit reading about halfway through. Others might enjoy this book but it just didn't click for me.

Can’t get past how unpleasant the “hero” is

I only made it halfway through the book. The author’s writing style was fairly good but I couldn’t stomach the male lead. If you’re into “Heroes” who treat the female like garbage, even when they’re trying to “make things right”, then keep reading. Me, I was too turned off by his (lack of) character. He was supposed to be the saviour of the wolf packs, carrying on his father’s legacy. Despite a token statement thrown in occasionally about his virtues, he treated everyone poorly, and other than being her “Mate”, had no redeeming qualities. I wish the female protagonist would end up with the “nice guy” but that would be too much to hope. I felt like I personally was being treated like filth by the H, and I didn’t like the feeling.

It wasn’t bad overall and at times it was good, but fairly predictable too as to how things would play out.
But I do wonder how she became a genetic specialist without formal training.
Maybe it’s because it was a wolf only company, so in house training and natural ability? Though that doesn’t give her the title of Doctor.
I really thought Ashley was going to hold firm, but these two have sex nearly straight away after 5 years, not surprising.
I also believe Hayden would have married Courtney, which is yucky.
What did ruin it was the ridiculous forgiveness towards her disgusting father and 3 sisters. I just lost all respect at that point. Especially as apparently they are best friends mere months later. Nobody forgives 18 years of abuse that easily.
Her mother’s memory wasn’t a good enough reason to forgive them.
Not a reread for me.
Read through KU.

Misleading Title

I'm always so leery to dive into these rejected mates books. The ads are often fantastic and lure me straight in, while the actual books are typically... Garbage.

However! However, this book was a pleasant surprise. Aptly edited, good dialogue, and a strong FMC. Even if she isn't exactly strong in the beginning. But I do find the title misleading. There's not exactly a fake marriage though I suppose it is forbidden love.

Beyond that, the issues that stem the connection between Ashley and Hayden have depth and reasoning. Which is often absent in fated mate trope books. It's not a fast read by any means, but it's a great read. An easy 3.5/5 stars.

This story is full or emotions, betrayal and spice. Hayden and Ashley go through a lot on their way to HEA. Ashley's growth is beautiful as she not only survived her horrible childhood, she became a strong, independent woman who grew into her own power. I do think that Hayden need to grovel a little bit more to win her back. I loved these two together, they were definitely stronger together. There were a few inconsistencies in the story that were driving me crazy. For example, how old Hayden was when he lost his parents changed a few time throughout the book. Other than that I found this to be a very entertaining story.

Istg I keep reading rejected mate stories because they're randomly good sometimes and it's a favorite trope. This one was not though. Body betrayal means she forgives him immediately even though she pretends to push him away for a while (she gives in to him every time he's near her). 🙄 He throws money around and forces proximity in every area of her life instead of actually groveling. Read it bc the title is eerily similar to another (much better) shifter book, but it's definitely one of those dime a dozen trope bait stories that I should have known better than to read.

3.5 for sure

Hayden Drake was lame for not thinking his revenge through or thinking through how he would explain meeting his mate. Ashley Silver was dumb for ignoring her wolf and trusting a strange man when she had previously said she didn’t trust him.

I still don’t know why or how the SilverFang Pack managed to get Ashley back with really minimal change.

Then there was no actual epilogue but three chapters of a whole new book.

Overall, I didn’t hate it but I also didn’t love it. I liked the characters and the premise.

Had to stop at the 30% mark. At this point, it’s been 5 years since the mmc rejected the fmc. In that time, the mmc has spent tons of $$$ trying to find the fmc, to no avail. Buuut during that 5 years, the fmc, who has no prior schooling it seems, was able to have the secret baby and get her doctorate. 🙄 Oh, and she never changed her name, but the wealthy mmc somehow never found her.

I can suspend reality like the best of ‘em, but this just felt too cheesy.

Fun Read

This was an excellent story with heart. Reading Ashley and Hayden’s story has heartbreak, anger, misunderstanding and finally HEA. Jennifer Eve has written a story that I enjoyed from beginning to end and couldn’t put it down until the last page and I loved the bonus ending, just made the story complete. Thank you Jennifer Eve, I look forward to reading more of your stories.

Cinderella Betrayal

Ashley and Hayden's story has Cinderella vibes that intertwined with danger, betrayal and excitement. It was emotional and the fact that Ashley made herself a strong FMC was the best part of this book. I could not put it down.

Passionate Fated Mates

A brilliant action packed shifter romance, with passion, betrayal, misunderstandings, drama, pack conflict, tension, secrets, Cinderella vibes, second chances, love and a HEA. The main characters have wonderfully strong personalities, fighting for their friends, loved ones and family.

Aaargh. DNF at 66%. Gosh why does a book need to have every single trope in it? Also, I hate “strong” females that have no confidence. Come on, if you are so brainiac and your wolf telling you to not trust the dude, stop being in secure. DO SOME RESEARCH! Isn’t that what they teach you to do while you do a doctorate?

Great story

This was anew to me author and for the first book it was great. I especially loved the epilogue. That piece of work made me laugh and want the kids stories.
As for this story I loved the action and how they gave each other a second chance. Forgiveness in this book was inspiring.

This book wasn’t bad, but there really wasn’t anything really exciting either. There are some errors in the text like she is wearing slacks but then when she picks her clothes up off the floor it’s now a skirt. That makes it hard for my brain to keep reading. The story jumps a bit to me, like you get the gist of things but I feel that going more in depth would have brought the story out more.

Lots of emotion and lots of spice. Ashley just wants to escape the tragedy that is her life. Little does she know that, while Hayden might be her Mate, he might not be her salvation. And winning her back might be harder than Hayden realizes. It’s an exciting journey.

The Tyrant Alpha's Fated Chase

This book was well written. The story was very good. You had romance. It was kind of like a Cinderella story. Only no step sisters. She has a bad father and three mean sisters.
