I never imagined fate could be so cruel, tearing me apart from Arden, my brother’s best friend, my childhood love, and my fated mate.
When he returned to claim his Alpha throne, he rejected me utterly, believing my father murdered his, banishing my brother and me into years of exile and heartbreak.
Now, hiding the secret of our son, I’m back in his world, forced to work at his company and pretend to be his girlfriend to uncover the truth.
But as old flames ignite and buried lies unravel, revealing my father’s innocence and a far darker betrayal, can we reclaim the love destiny promised us?
This one was much better than the last one. At least the H was redeemable in this one. (Possible spoilers ahead) It’s an okay read, but I wouldn’t read it again. It’s very predictable. I had a hard time connecting with the h in this story. There was something about her that I just didn’t like. 🤷♀️
This book opens with h’s dad getting his head lobbed off. Dad was the Alpha’s BETA and his BFF. The Alpha was murdered, and all evidence led to h’s dad being the murderer.
The whole pack considers h and her brother- traitors. The Alpha’s son (H) has been away at college for 4 years. He returns.
*backstory* H is friends with h’s brother. H is also in a relationship with h. They admit their feelings for each other before he goes away to college.
So..h finds out H is back. She’s relieved, because she thinks he will help prove her father’s innocence and everything will be better. Haha, she is like superrrrrrr naive. Even her brother is like WAKE UP! H says some hurtful things to her in public, then rushes to say nice things to her in private. They BOTH know at this point, they are Fated Mates. It’s supposedly rare to find yours. 🤷♀️ ofc, H has smex with her, then they agree to keep their relationship secret and meet up every 3 weeks. 🚩🚩🚩
(I’m not sure smexing would be on my mind if I had just watched my dad get his head cut off🤷♀️ It doesn’t specifically say how much time passed, but it seems like a few days)
h’s brother is still telling her to open her damn eyes and see what’s going on. She continues to defend H. She finds out she’s pregnant. Her brother is all 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️(same) She finds out H is engaged to an OW. That same day, H shows up with guards and rips her heart out by rejecting her. Then he exiles h and her brother. 🙃🙃
We know from H’s POV- he had to. The council told him if he didn’t, they would be killed. (Normally, I would hate weak Alphas, but it made sense here. H’s dad was a great Alpha. H never expected to be Alpha at such a young age. He was not prepared for any of this. He was thrown into a political snake pit) And…..H also has this super helpful Uncle who helps him navigate this Alpha stuff. 😂😂 (if you read any shifter books, you know what that means)
7 years later. H is now a hardened Alpha. He didn’t marry anyone. He started standing up to the council. Supposedly, he’s been looking for h all this time. (🤷♀️ She didn’t change her name, so I’m not sure why he couldn’t find her) H has women everywhere trying to get with him. They are always running to the press, spreading lies about him.
h has a 7-year old son. She went back to college and got her degree. Now she works as some type of PA person. She leaves her son with her brother for 2 weeks. She has to go to NYC for a temp job for a skincare company.
It’s absolutely NO shock when she walks into the boardroom on her first day, and H is there. 🙃 Let me tell you, these two were exhausting! H would try to explain what happened all those years ago, but she just wouldn’t listen. It was back and forth. Then, at one point, the media gets wind of the MCs, so then they have to pretend to be in a relationship to “save” his image.
It’s at least 55% in before H even finds out about the kid. Thankfully, he does know how to figure out timelines, so he knows it’s his kid. It takes H wooing the kid before h starts to ease up some. The body betrays her, though 🙄🙄
There’s some filler stuff about somebody trying to sabotage her work. The office part of this book was boring to me.
Anyway, none of the office stuff really matters. As with all shifter books, somebody has to get kidnapped. The 7-year old is kidnapped by H’s uncle. Then all is revealed. The uncle wanted the Alpha seat. He was BIG mad that his younger brother was made Alpha. He set up h’s dad. The uncle has also been robbing the pack of money for years. Both MCs ☠️ him.
Rejected by My Brother's Best Friend Alpha is the opening title in the Alpha Kings’ Fated Rejects series. Dancia (Dani) and Arden were friends, young lovers, mates… until his father’s murder drove a stake between them. Dani believed her father was innocent, despite the evidence left behind, and Arden seemed conflicted in his opinion. Yet, he listened to the lies whispered in his ear and banished Dani… without knowing that she carried their child.
Years later, Dani has created a new life for herself and her son that will soon be in danger when she faces Arden across a conference table. He needs her expertise in “fixing” public figures’ images, recreating lives from the ashes of their mistakes. And Arden has made more than a few mistakes in the years they were apart. Now they have to pretend to be dating and show off that fake relationship to the cameras of a magazine that will help rebuild Arden’s reputation. At the same time, Dani continues to hide their son from his father. When a hidden enemy targets Dani… and then her son, she has no choice but to turn to the man she still loves, the man with an unknown son in danger, for protection. Lives just got complicated as the danger to them all increases.
I enjoyed Rejected by My Brother's Best Friend Alpha by Jennifer Eve very much. To say it’s intense in so many ways is perhaps an understatement. Watching Dani and Arden slowly heal from their past and embrace their mate bond again was emotionally satisfying. There is also a villain to loathe, and that part of this story was gripping, with the tensions building over time. In all, their story is well-written, engaging, passionate, emotional, and full of danger as well as healing. If you love puzzling out who the bad guy is and enjoy watching a couple that does belong together fix the mistakes of their past, then you’d love this one.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the author or the author’s team via Booksprout, and I sincerely thank them for their trust. It is my choice to leave a review, giving my personal opinion about this book.*
This is not a good book. The first three chapters was in previous book, so I was curious and in between books…. By chapter 4, it was obvious who the actual culprit was and I said by chapter 26, we’ll know. It was chapter 27. Why do these characters continue to make mention that they don’t trust someone and then give them access to themselves?! Chapter 28, Arden realizes what I figured out in chapter 4. Don’t even get me started that they’re attacked IN CHAPTER 25, you then the page to chapter 26– AND WE Don’t WVEN ADDRESS IT… Danica is “gravely injured” but you’re not going to describe how you got her to safety?? It’s like a whole portion was erased. For what reason?!
It is unclear if they are in current times or the past? Are we shifters in just shifter world? Are we in the human world? Do they mix? What do they know? Why are we flying from NYC to Philadelphia? All of a sudden Ivan has an apartment?
YOU CANNOT FAKE DATE YOUR REJECTED FATED MATE, and yet— that’s the least offensive part of this whole book.
The beginning is a slow unbearable start. The end is a slow unbearable end. Because everyone is so dumb. The middle part in NYC which makes no sense for a shifter romance, is the best part. I like the characters and their interactions, it’s the premise that makes no sense.
The way they were shocked by this reveal was truly painful. Why did they think _______ kidnapped Kit and Danica, if they weren’t the original Big Bad?!
The end of chapter 30, the time jump to chapter 31– cost this a star. WHAT ARE WE EVEN DOING?! The disconnect throughout this book is STARK! We’re being told things with little to no explanation, as if that makes any sense.
A gripping mix of forbidden love and second chances. Jennifer Eve delivers drama, passion, and that addictive fated‑mates tension that keeps you turning pages.
Betas turned Omega and exiled and titled as the Traitor's children, Ivan and Danica Grey's dad was the beta to Arden Blackthorne's dad and Alpha Krav of the Silverridge Pack.
Danica (wolf is Zya) will stop at nothing to prover her father's innocence and needs to get Arden to see the truth but he's torn and does believe her father's innocence but he also mourning the death and also believes her father did it, since he was found next to and his dagger in the body. Dani also knows Arden should be finding the truth but isn't putting much effort in it since he had little elders whispering lies in his ears and setting an engagement for Arden with a daughter of a neighboring pack since they refuse to allow the Alpha in any relationship with the 'traitor's daughter). When she finds out she carrying Arden's heir, the rejection and being kicked out of their cabin created Dani to hate beyond any doubt that Arden never cared for her and she keeping her life and her child's life a secret... for 7 years she succeeded until her new company job brings her face to face with her son's , Keaton 'Kit', father... His company is merging with the company she works for...
A wonderful action packed second chance shifter romance, with passion, betrayal, misunderstandings, rejection, drama, pack conflict, fake romance, secrets, love and a HEA. The main characters have wonderfully strong personalities, fighting for their loved ones, friends and family.
After their Beta father's branded a traitor and murder following the death of Alpha Krav, Danica and Ivan are demoted to the rank of Omegas and given the worst jobs. But Danica is sure Krav's son Arden, her brother's best friend will see the truth when he returns to be crowned. But despite Dani searching for the truth of what happened, after a night with Arden he rejects her as he's encouraged by the elders to find a more suitable match.
Rejected Dani leaves and seven years later finds herself having to work with him again when her job becomes fixing Arden's image. But while flames are reignited, the pack's secrets are uncovered, though she has a six-year-old secret of her own.

Danica and her brother Ivan are outcasts in their pack. Their father was accused and executed for the death of the alpha. And so they exist on the fringes of the pack until the heir, Ivan's best friend -- who is also the young man Dani loves -- returns. There's angst and hope and then it all comes crashing down.
For a shifter romance, there isn't much shifting. At least not during the middle of the book. Instead it's all boardrooms and meetings and longing looks. I liked Dani immediately but still didn't like Arden even by the end of the book. I mean, his justifications just felt so weak. Not nearly enough grovel for the agony he caused.
That being said, it's well written with only a few noticeable typos. A fun read.
18+, XXX. Adult content, reader discretion advised. Father branded a traitor and murderer, rejected by her mate and exiled with her brother was not a great start to motherhood. Danica had put all her faith in Arden and he ruthlessly sent her packing and pregnant. To be fair he didn't have a choice. Seven years later and they meet again in a board room. Seven years of Arden searching. When he finds her, he refuses to let her go. Danica is trying really hard to hide her son, Kit. He doesn't deserve to be rejected the way she was. Only Arden won't go away and everyday I'd getting harder.
Page 138 in your seriously going to reuse the same elevator scene that you used in the first book? I really enjoyed your first book but if the same scene comes up, it's very off-putting. I'm going to finish this book just because, but if it lends itself to the similarities of the first book, I'm probably just going to write you off as an author. Not that you read these comments, but come on, use a little ingenuity? A little creativity?
Keeping with the “rejected mate” theme, Danica is rejected by her Fated Mate, Arden and then exiled. He realizes his mistake and wants to win her back but she’s reluctant. Who wouldn’t be, right? Danica also has a secret that she can’t reveal to Arden so it’s exciting to see how that will all come out and how Arden will react. 4 stars.
Branded a traitors daughter Danica is exiled by her pack and the fact that she is Alpha Arden's fated mate did not make a difference. This was an emotional journey for these characters as revelations and truths were heart-pounding and full of intense feelings. It was an entertaining read.

Bon roman tranquillou cozy qui se laisse lire. Belle écriture de l'auteure mais la traduction n'est pas au top. Je le conseille quand même pour vivre un beau moment.
I was mostly confused more than anything in this book because there were a lot of things it acted like we should know. I'm not sure if there's another book that runs concurrently to this one, but I was left with more questions than anything.
