She says your new boyfriend killed his ex. He says it’s all lies. Who do you believe?

When I first met Jack, he broke down in tears as he told me about the tragic death of his wife, Natalia, on a family holiday. As our relationship blossomed and we started planning a future together, I would lie awake worrying about filling Natalia’s perfect shoes. But everything changes when her mother turns up at my door…

Your boyfriend killed my daughter,’ she says.

Jack swears she’s lying, and I want to believe him but something isn’t right. Why doesn’t he have a single picture of her? And why do I feel afraid when I confront him about the night Natalia died? What if it wasn’t grief after all, but guilt?

My Review

This is quite a read! If you love fast paced thrillers, that will keep you guessing, and takes so many turns that you keep saying “Wait, what?” to yourself, then this is the read for you! It’s really hard not knowing who you can trust in this book. Most of the book is told through Kara’s point of view, and she is a reliable narrator. It’s those other characters who are unreliable!! Not only did it make me keep questioning things, but it also made Kara question things.

There are at least two jaw dropping moments in this book! They were perfectly crafted and expertly revealed. I will say that one of my favorite parts of the book is how much Kara cared about Evie.

This is out now, so make sure to grab it!

This was a fast and engaging read that I finished over a period of a few hours. It centers on Kara, who is rebuilding her life with a man named Jack after they both experienced terrible personal tragedies, when the mother of his previous wife shows up and makes Kara question everything she thinks she knows about Jack and his background.

The hits start coming fast and really unsettling things start to happen. There is a little too much inner dialogue for my taste as Kara questions everyone around her, but there was also enough actual action happening for me to forgive that. I felt like I had it all figured out early but there were definitely some surprises before it was all said and done. I thought the ending was mostly satisfying, though I do wish that the timeframe was stretched out a little further for me to know more about where all the characters ended up down the road.

Overall, I thought this was a fun and stressful (in a good way) read and would recommend for those who like psychological thrillers. Thanks to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

If you love domestic thrillers that keep you guessing and refuse to follow a predictable path, this one might be for you.

The Wife Before by Sheryl Browne grabbed my attention right from the start and opens at a fast pace. The story follows Kara and Jack as they navigate grief after losing their spouses and explores the complicated aftermath that unfolds. The short, twisty chapters kept me turning pages as the plot pulled me in immediately, slowed a bit in the middle, and then ramped right back up for a gripping finish.

I rated this 3.5 stars, rounding up to four. While some moments were a little over the top and I would have loved more character development, the suspense and pacing made it an enjoyable read overall.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC and the opportunity to provide an honest review.

The phrase that kept bouncing around my mind as I read was but then again..
I couldn’t get a good read on any of the characters because they were opaque and hard to read.
I questioned Lina, Evie, Jack, and even Kara.
I was stumped a few times and then the author put in a twist that made it all come together.
A twisty read.
Thanks NetGalley and Bookouture for the early copy.

The Wife Before was a superb and unputdownable read from one of my favourite psychological thriller authors. I just love when I start a book and after finishing the prologue know that it’s 100% my type of book. This was a gripping and page turning book that was packed with twists and turns. Some parts had me actually gasping out loud . I had no clue who to trust and was sure I had everything worked out to be proven wrong several times. From start to finish this was another amazing read by Sheryl Browne and one I highly recommend.

First of all, I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was a very fast-paced and engaging psychological thriller. I flew through it and was constantly curious to find out what had really happened. The story is addictive and easy to read, and I was genuinely hooked.

That said, I finished the book with quite a lot of unanswered questions.

At the end it’s implied that Jack also murdered Lola… but how exactly? That was never properly explained. Earlier in the book, Lina also mentions that Jack had a wife before Natalie, but this was never brought up again, which felt like a loose end to me.

From early on, I suspected that Natalie might still be alive and somehow involved in the strange things happening in the house, possibly together with Lina. What I did not expect at all was for Jack to turn out to be the villain. There was very little foreshadowing for this, so the reveal felt abrupt and a bit contradictory to how he was portrayed earlier in the story.

I also would have loved more background on Jack, especially regarding what happened to his parents. And once it became clear that he was “bad,” I really wished we had gotten one final POV chapter from him. His earlier chapters were some of the most interesting parts of the book, so this felt like a missed opportunity.

I think the story had a lot of potential, but it needed more emotional closure. Personally, I would have loved an epilogue set one year later, seeing Kara after giving birth, maybe living safely with Evie. The current epilogue, which takes place in the hospital after Kara’s fall, felt more like a final chapter than a true epilogue.

The beginning was also a bit confusing for me, with the very short sections about Kai and Mark that were hard to place at first.

Overall, I did enjoy the book. It was gripping, fast-paced, and kept me reading. I just wish some of the loose ends had been tied up more clearly. Because of that, I’m settling on 3.5 stars.

Wow! If you’re in the mood for a psychological thriller that hooks you from page one, cranks up the tension, and keeps you guessing until the very end, The Wife Before by Sheryl Browne needs to be on your list. A big thank you to one of my favorite publishers, Bookouture, and NetGalley for the ARC 🙏

Kara and Jack are both grieving the loss of their spouses when they find comfort in each other. Now expecting a baby together, they move into Kara’s beautiful home with Jack’s daughter, Evie, hoping for a fresh start. But when Evie’s maternal grandmother moves into a separate part of the house, that fragile peace quickly unravels, and Kara begins to question everything she thought she knew about the man she loves.

Kara’s new life with her boyfriend, Jack, starts to fall apart when his former mother-in-law turns up at their door, accusing Jack of killing his ex-wife. From that moment on, nothing feels safe. Kara is heavily pregnant, trying to build a future, and suddenly forced to question whether the man she loves is telling her the truth or hiding something much darker.

The book starts strong. The prologue immediately hooked me, and I love it when a thriller does that. It set up so much tension and promise. Unfortunately, for me, it felt a bit like a bait-and-switch because the momentum didn’t fully carry through the rest of the story. The story is told from multiple points of view, which I usually enjoy, but here it sometimes made things confusing. The writing style made it hard to always follow whose perspective I was in, which pulled me out of the story at times.

One small thing that stood out to me was how often important conversations were delayed between Kara and Jack. The repeated “we need to talk… but not now” moments occasionally slowed the pacing and made a few sections feel longer than necessary. That said, the tension never fully disappeared. Kara’s fear and confusion came through clearly, especially as Jack’s silences, flashes of anger, and evasive behaviour began to pile up. I found myself wanting to believe him alongside her, yet that underlying sense of unease never quite faded. While I was able to predict most of the twists ahead of time, I remained invested and curious to see how everything would unfold.

The pacing of the story was effective, maintaining momentum throughout and keeping the narrative engaging. The use of multiple points of view added varied perspectives to the mystery and helped the plot progress smoothly. The twist near the end was particularly well executed, offering an unexpected development that made the overall build-up feel worthwhile.

My Final thoughts:💭

Overall, I like this book, but I also didn’t love it. It’s a fast-paced, engaging psychological thriller with a strong premise and plenty of suspense, even if some parts felt underdeveloped and repetitive. Fans of The Housemaid, The Perfect Marriage, and domestic thrillers in general will likely enjoy it.
This was an entertaining and bingeable read, and it definitely put Sheryl Browne on my list of authors to read more from. A gripping read with lots of potential, a great opening, and solid tension just missing that final push to make it truly unforgettable.

Sheryl Browne is a go to author for me, she never fails to deliver a read that is complex, multi faceted and gripping. She certainly knows how to make you have internal narratives with yourself as your heart rate rises in time with the number of pages turned.

The Wife Before was a book that had me thinking at first that this was not going to be the usual dark, twisted tale that has me desperately biting my fingers praying and second guessing what was at play. Kara was widowed and with that, her life all but ended, that was until she met Jack also widowed. Jack and his daughter Evie end up moving in to Kara’s home as they decide to navigate a new life together. I should have known better! Everything should have been perfect but Jack’s and Kara’s new life together was put under the microscope. Kara tried to be a friend to Evie but this was a girl, hurt by the loss of her mother and battling the usual teenage angst - she definitely does not want a ‘new mother figure’.

I couldn’t decide if Kara had a genuine heart of gold or she was incredibly gullible. Enter Lina, Jack’s ex mother in law stage left and the whole story ramped up several notches when Kara invites her to stay in her Annex - much to the dismay of Jack but delight of Evie. I was torn, I couldn’t decide who was telling the truth and who and what was genuine or fake. The dynamics of each of the relationships were pulled taught - Lina and Evie definitely tested ~Kara and pushed her to her limits, and Jack seemed to have no useful input as Kara’s world is upended.

I was hooked! Intrigued and felt sick reading at times - swinging backwards and forwards with ideas of who I trusted and who I didn’t - The Wife Before was gripping and at times difficult to read. I followed breadcrumbs in every direction but the right one. The truth and lies were so intrinsically entwined it was impossible to know who to trust or what to belief.

Thank you so much Sheryl for writing another totally absorbing read that fully engaged my vivid imagination and sense of judgement - a story that once again shook my values to the core.

Secrets and lies are the name of the game in The Wife Before! This is the 8th book which I have read by Sheryl Browne and she never disappoints me. As with the other books I have read by her, The Wife Before was gripping, mysterious, wonderfully written, thrilling, and had me trying to figure out who could be trusted and who was telling the truth!!!!

Kara has suffered a horrible, heartbreaking loss that has left her devastated and full of grief. When she met Jack, she realized that he had suffered a great loss as well. This helped them bond and lean on each other. As their bond deepens and their relationships blooms, there is a knock at the door which shakes the solid foundation they have built together. Jack's former Mother-in-law has arrived and informed Kara that Jack killed her daughter! Jack denies the outrageous claim, but she has planted a seed of doubt in Kara.

Who can be trusted? Who is telling the truth? Is Jack a killer? Is Kara safe? Is the woman lying????

I love the seed of doubt that was planted in me. I also loved the mounting tension, dread, drama, and danger in this book. This book began feeling like a romance book but quickly moves into a mystery thriller! I love the twists and turns along the way. I thought I figured things out, then changed my mind, then changed it once again.

I enjoyed the pacing, the not knowing who I could trust, the well thought out plot, the characters, the twists, and the reveal in The Wife Before! Another thrilling and shocking book by Sheryl Browne.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.

Another absolute smasher of a psychological thriller from Sheryl Browne that I sped through and couldn’t bear to put down. Only the second ever psychological thriller that has broken my star rating scale as this was so good I just had to give it a 5+ star rating!

When tragic circumstances mean that Kara has to rebuild her life again, she meets Jack, who she knew from the past. Jack is also having to rebuild his and his teenage daughter, Evie’s, life, after also dealing with their own heartbreak. They recognise kindred spirits in each other and their grief brings them together. Kara and Jack’s relationship evolves rapidly but when someone from the past turns up on Kara, Jack and Evie’s doorstep discounting and contradicting things Jack has said, questions begin to get asked and fractures start to occur between Kara, Jack and Evie. Will Kara and Jack be able to build a solid relationship together and a stable family for Evie or will the fact that the beginnings of their relationship was built on mutual fragile heartbreak cause in turn more heartache for them both?!

Well as I said above what an absolutely fantastic read! I always know that when I pick up a book by Sheryl Browne I will enjoy it, but she really outdid herself in writing this one. The prologue immediately drew me in and was a brilliant hook to begin the story. I loved the different POV’s and although at times I did find myself getting frustrated with Kara I did, ultimately, like her character and found myself rooting for her. I definitely did not see the twist that happened in chapter 48, and I actually gasped out loud when reading it. I also did not see the final twist at the end coming as the story had me changing my mind over who the “baddie” was so many times, I found myself changing my mind from chapter to chapter, so great writing by Sheryl Browne.

Overall, this was such a gripping brilliant read, I sped through it and couldn’t count the number of times I kept telling myself, “Just one more chapter”! I honestly can’t recommend it enough for any fans who enjoy the psychological thriller genre. I can promise you that you will not be disappointed when you pick this one up. Definitely deserving of a 5+ star rating from me. I can’t wait to read what Sheryl Brown writes next. I will always be a loyal fan as her books consistently hit the mark for me every single time!

Thank you to NetGalley, Sheryl Browne and Bookouture for my advanced reading copy. Out now.

3.5 ⭐️

Multiple perspectives, simmering tension, and a story that made me constantly rethink what I thought I knew. This domestic thriller centers on Kara, who is pregnant and settling into life with her boyfriend, Jack—until his past quite literally shows up at her door. When Jack’s former mother-in-law claims that his first wife didn’t simply disappear, Kara is forced to question everything she’s been told about the man she loves and the woman who came before her.

This was a twisty read that kept me curious from the start. I’ve read stories with a similar setup before, so the trope itself wasn’t entirely new to me, but I really enjoyed the use of multiple perspectives—it added layers to the story and kept me second-guessing who to trust as more pieces slowly fell into place. Just when I thought I had a handle on things, another POV would shift my thinking again, and Browne’s captivating writing style kept the story feeling intriguing and entertaining throughout. That said, the story was a bit longer than I typically prefer, and there were moments of repeated character dialogue that could have been condensed without losing impact.

This was my first read by Sheryl Browne, and I can see why so many readers praise her books. Her writing style is smooth, readable, and inviting, with an emotionally driven, quietly suspenseful tone that never feels overcomplicated. She builds tension through relationships and secrets rather than shock value, which made the story feel more engaging and believable for me.

Overall, this was an entertaining and bingeable read, and it definitely put Sheryl Browne on my list of authors to read more from.

A big thank you to one of my favorite publishers, Bookouture, and NetGalley for the ARC in return for my honest feedback.

The Wife Before is a gripping psychological thriller that kept me hooked from beginning to end. Kara, a woman scarred by the loss of her young son and husband in a tragic accident, finds herself on the brink of a tentative second chance at happiness with her partner, Jack. Pregnant and cautiously hopeful, Kara dares to envision a future once more. However, this newfound optimism is shattered as the shadow of Jack’s first wife, Natalia, and the circumstances surrounding her tragic death begin to unravel. This threatens to destroy everything Kara hopes to build.

Kara and Jack aren’t the only ones trying to build a new life. Jack’s teenage daughter, Evie, is part of the equation, and soon his former mother-in-law, Lina, enters the picture as well. Evie is fiercely devoted to her grandmother, especially as Lina’s worsening memory issues become impossible to ignore. Bringing Lina into their home quickly disrupts the fragile balance Kara is trying to maintain. Already vulnerable, Kara begins to question whether opening her heart - and her home - was a terrible mistake.

Things begin to go awry for Kara, things that make her doubt her sanity, even her safety. Although I couldn’t help but think of the film Gaslight, it is purely evident that this book is so much more. It is drama and intensity, doubt and uncertainty, even to the point of danger entering the picture. With a sharp dramatic edge, this book is certain to take readers on a ride and even wanting to yell at more than one of the characters. I wanted to reach my hand through my Kindle screen and pull Kara out of that situation.

For a suspenseful and emotionally charged read, look no further than The Wife Before. It is certain to keep you on edge and have you questioning everything until the very last page.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

📚 Book Review 📚

The Wife Before by @sheryl.browne 💍

Kara is stricken with grief since losing her husband and son in a tragic accident. But since meeting Jack, she learns that they both have something in common: they’re both grieving. As they continue to build their relationship and solidify their foundations with one another, a knock at the door brings everything crashing down.

Faced with Jack’s unpredictable ex-mother-in-law, Kara is reluctant to believe the accusations being spouted about her dear beloved. But it poses the questions: are these accusations true? Or is his former mother-in-law going senile like Jack says?

We’re introduced to a firework of a prologue, and I couldn’t turn those pages quick enough to find out what was going to happen. Although the story did dip a little bit in the middle, it didn’t take long to pick back up again.

Untrustworthy characters are embedded into the story really early on which makes the alternating viewpoints addictively unreliable. Kara is essentially our MC who certainly went through the mill. She has a good heart but suffered tragic loss which made her vulnerable yet undefinably human. Just imagine losing your husband and son and now being made to wonder whether your new partner is trustworthy – it could just be the icing on the cake.

Browne does a cracking job of sprinkling red herrings throughout the short chapters, making me suspect everything and everyone, which is what I love most about a domestic thriller. Not to mention the additional viewpoint we’re met with roughly 50-60% of the way through, my jaw hit the floor!

I’d highly recommend this if you’re looking for well thought out yet unpredictable plot, fast-pacing, and an engaging narrative. I’ll certainly be picking up more of this authors work.

Thanks so much to Sheryl Browne, Bookouture, and NetGalley for the e-ARC in exchange for my honest review. Release date is today, so happy publication day, Sheryl! 🥳

Psychological thrillers work best when they make you question every character on the page, and The Wife Before by Sheryl Browne does exactly that.

At the center of the story is Jack, a widower trying to rebuild his life after the tragic death of his wife, Natalia. When he begins a relationship with Kara, it seems like two people broken by grief have found a way forward together. But everything changes when Natalia’s mother shows up with a chilling accusation: Jack murdered her daughter.

From that point on, the tension never really lets up. Jack becomes a fascinating character to watch because you are constantly trying to read him. Is he a grieving husband who’s been unfairly accused, or a man hiding something darker beneath the surface? The uncertainty surrounding him drives the story and keeps the pages turning.

Browne does a great job layering suspicion and doubt throughout the novel. The short chapters and shifting perspectives keep the pace moving, and just when you think you have a handle on what’s happening, the story takes another turn. I found myself constantly reassessing Jack’s actions and motivations as new pieces of the puzzle came to light.

The middle slows slightly as the story builds toward its reveal, but the tension and twists make the journey worthwhile. The final stretch pulls everything together in a satisfying way that rewards the reader for paying attention.

Overall, The Wife Before is a gripping domestic thriller about trust, grief, and the secrets people carry. If you enjoy psychological suspense where every character feels questionable and the truth is never obvious, this one is definitely worth picking up.

The Wife Before by Sheryl Browne is one of those domestic thrillers that’s easy to breeze through — twisty, dramatic, and full of doubt and suspicion, even if it doesn’t quite hit every note perfectly.

The plot follows Kara, who’s trying to rebuild her life after a devastating loss when she falls for Jack and starts a new future with him — baby on the way, blended family, the whole thing. But when Jack’s former mother-in-law shows up and accuses him of killing his ex, Kara is suddenly left questioning everything she thought she knew about him.

What I really liked was how fast-moving and engaging the story feels. The short, twisty chapters and multiple perspectives kept me curious and guessing pretty consistently, and there are definitely moments where you’ll flip pages without realizing it. Plenty of other readers felt the same — some even said it was addictive and hard to put down.

On the flip side, a few things didn’t totally land for me. Some parts felt a little repetitive or dragged out, and there were moments where the back-and-forth over conversations that “needed to happen later” made the pacing feel a bit off. A few reviewers mentioned similar frustrations with the multiple POVs and pacing, which sometimes pulled them out of the story.

Overall, this was a solid read — entertaining, twisty, and suspenseful enough to keep you turning pages. It’s not the most unforgettable thriller ever, but if you enjoy psychological suspense with drama and unreliable characters, it’s definitely worth your time.

The Wife Before is one of those psychological thrillers that lures you in with a simple premise and then quietly tightens the tension until you realise you’ve been holding your breath for chapters at a time. Sheryl Browne has a knack for domestic suspense, and here she leans fully into the unease that comes from not knowing whether the person you love is exactly who they claim to be.

We follow Kara, newly pregnant and trying to build a future with her charming, attentive boyfriend Jack. Everything seems idyllic—until the past literally knocks on her door. The arrival of Jack’s former mother‑in‑law, accusing him of killing his ex‑wife Natalia, is the kind of moment that flips the story on its head. From there, Browne plays with doubt beautifully. Every silence, every flare of Jack’s temper, every evasive answer becomes another thread Kara (and the reader) can’t help tugging.

The pacing is sharp, the atmosphere claustrophobic in the best way, and the shifting loyalties keep you guessing. Browne doesn’t rely on cheap twists; instead, she builds a steady drumbeat of suspicion that makes you question every character’s version of events. Fans of The Housemaid and The Perfect Marriage will feel right at home in this world of secrets, manipulation, and emotional sleight‑of‑hand.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I found it to be an intense and gripping tale - the sense that something is wrong oozes from the pages.

Annie lives as a recluse after fleeing from an abusive relationship until one day a young woman with a baby turns up at her door looking for safety and asking for her help. Annie decides to let her in, but has she made a mistake in trusting the one woman she shouldn’t have. What unfolds is a tense, at times heartbreaking as well as shocking read.

The dual POV chapters, told by Annie and Jade, have a steady momentum that maintains an engaging pace, and I felt Annie’s fear, isolation and mistrust on every page. With themes of abuse, control and deception, this book was hard to read but also hard to put down.

The build up was taut and the atmosphere the story created was heavy, emotional and full of tension. I found this to be a real page-turner, and when the twist hits, it’s a clever and emotional scene, wrapping the story up nicely. Hugely compelling, immensely readable, heartbreaking and unexpectedly emotional- impossible to put down. This book is available from 27th January 2026.

Two broken hearts that can come together to form a whole again. That’s pure romance, isn’t it? You can hear the violins playing, smell the roses, and even Cupid is flying around with a broad smile on his face.

But violins sometimes need retuning, roses wither, and even Cupid has his darker days. You probably know where this is going…

A knock on the door bursts your pink bubble—so much so that you risk falling straight through it. Now comes the task of digging out what is true and what is not. Who is lying and who isn’t. Who is manipulating and who is genuine. Not an easy task for Kara.

This author has never let me down. Time and again, she manages to keep me completely under her spell with the powerful stories she puts on paper. Her intriguing characters only strengthen the experience, and the uncertainty about how everything will end lingers right up to the final pages.

I was constantly being pulled back and forth between the characters. Who could I believe? I couldn’t make head nor tail of it—and I’ll admit it: these are absolute gems when you get your hands on them!

So once again, I can wholeheartedly say yes. Yes, I enjoyed it. Yes, I doubted. Yes, I was charmed. Yes, I was shocked.

And so, with complete conviction, I also say yes to her next book. This was enjoyment with a capital E! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you

Title: The Wife Before
Author: Sheryl Browne
Rating: 🌟🌟🌟 1/2
Publication Date: February 6, 2026

I absolutely love it when a book has an exciting prologue, and I'm happy to report that this prologue grabbed my attention and sucked me in.

Even though the prologue was amazing, I felt as though it was a "bait and switch". Unfortunately, the momentum didn't continue. The storyline is told from multiple points of view, which is typically enjoy. In this situation, something about the style of writing made the different points of view difficult to follow.

There were several instances of Kara telling Jack that they "need to talk, but not now." So many that it started to annoy me... 🤣 I thought that some of the story dragged on and felt repetitive. I was fairly certain I had it all figured out, and I was mostly correct. I wish there was some follow-through with Jack's story since the book just abruptly ended.

I didn't hate this book, but I also didn't love it. All in all, this is a worthwhile read.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion/review.

Kara is widowed when her husband and her son died in a car accident. She meets Jack and the two fall in love and Kara gets pregnant. Jack's daughter Evie moves into the house along with Evie's grandmother, Lina who tells Kara that Jack killed her daughter--meaning he killed his ex-wife. Jack denies ever killing his own wife. Kara isn't sure whether who to believe or trust--whether she should trust her own husband or Jack's senile mother-in-law.

The story is fast paced packed with family drama. We have POVs of Kara, Evie, Jack and of course Jemma and Jack's ex-wife Natalia. We have alternating narrators and throughout this book, except for Kara, we don't really know who we should actually trust i.e. all of them except Kara are unreliable characters something which is suitable for this type of story. There are some twists and turns though the ending was quiet expected however. In fact, the whole story was quiet enjoyable to read with lots of drama and twists that will keep the reader hooked into the book.

Worth 4 stars.

Many thanks to Netgallet and Bookouture for the ARC. The review is based on my honest opinion only.

After suffering an absolutely unimaginable loss, Kara thinks she’s finally found happiness again with Jack.

Jack and his teenage daughter have also experienced tragedy, and as they try to rebuild their lives, the two kindred spirits reconnect after having worked together prior to their losses. Soon, it feels like everything is falling into place — a beautiful home, a baby on the way, and growing bonds between their families.

But then Jack’s deceased wife’s mother, Lina, shows up.

Kara, being a total empath, feels horrible for Lina (despite Jack’s warnings that she’s a crazy liar) and invites the elderly woman into their home — which earns her major bonus points with teenage Evie, who adores her grandmother.

But before long, things begin to unravel for Kara in increasingly bizarre ways, and she starts to question Lina, Jack, Evie, and even her own sanity.

This was a quick and easy read packed with everything a thriller should have — secrets, lies, grief, manipulation, tension, and plenty of twists and turns. While the ending wasn’t the most shocking, it was definitely satisfying!

Huge thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC!

I think I’m late to the game on this author, but holy heck, what a great first book for me to introduce me to the world of Sheryl Browne.

This book was a psychological thriller with tons of suspense, kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. This book had me going, no one was safe, everyone was guilt. My plot twists had me feeling whiplash. Definitely a great book and I definitely enjoyed reading it!

I read the book in two sittings, ONLY because I had started it late in the evening, and had already been in bed. But as soon as I woke up, I read and finished it before having lunch. I feel like the author does a great job in keeping the reader interested. Sometimes I read books that have lots of filler words, whereas this one, I felt like it flowed nicely.

Thank you to Netgalley, Bookouture, and Sheryl Browne for the opportunity to receive this early advance reader copy e-book! This review is completely my own, my opinions, I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for this honest review.

Started this book this Morning and finished it this afternoon…..

My 18th book read from this author and an even more welcome one than usual after what the author has faced recently,a moving explanation in the acknowledgements …..that aside at Book 18 its a done deal I love her books and the thing I have said before remains true, all the books are based on different things that need research from the author and are interesting to read/learn about alongside a powerful story

This time we are introduced to Kara and Jack, both having faced recent tragedies, both needing comfort, both trusting each other and wanting Jack’s daughter to accept Kara

But just as Kara and Jack seem all set fora blissful marriage there are many many reasons why they are set to fail,no more so than Jack’s ex Mum in law who appears on the scene determined to cause as much trouble as she can……..and then the problems and revelations really start

Told by multiple characters it is another fast moving psychological family led thriller from this accomplished author who always delivers a resounding great read

Holy smokes! If you're looking for a thriller that will grab you right away, is filled with tension, and will keep you guessing all the way to the end, then the latest psychological domestic suspense by Sheryl Browne, The Wife Before, is a must read.

Kara and Jack have both recently lost their spouses and turn to each other for mutual support. Now expecting a child together, they, along with Jack's daughter, Evie settle into Kara's beautiful home. When Evie's maternal nana moves into a separate part of the house, the chaos begins, leaving Kara doubting everything she thought she knew about Jack.

This book blew me away. I second guessed myself all the way through to the end. The twists and revelations were gasp out loud worthy and unpredictable. The chapters were short and easy to read. This is my new favorite by Sheryl, and I can't wait for her next thriller.

. Kara is heavily pregnant, settling into a new home and a new life with Jack, when a single accusation shatters everything she thought she knew: “Your boyfriend killed my daughter.”

What follows is a gripping exploration of trust, love and fear. Jack has always claimed his ex-wife Natalia disappeared during a family holiday, a tragic mystery that still haunts him. But as Kara begins to question the cracks in his story his silences, his anger, his refusal to talk about the night Natalia died builds a sense of unease that never lets up.

I feel for her because she wants to believe the man she loves, and the creeping dread that comes with realising the truth might be far darker than grief.

Twisty, unsettling and emotionally charged, this is a story that keeps you guessing, how well do you ever really know the person you love?

I loved it.
