Even though Gwen wasn’t in love with her last boyfriend, Mac, she’s still smarting by being dumped by him and then having him run off and get married immediately after. She’s having the worst birthday ever until she gets enough liquid courage in her to go after the neighbor she’s been ogling for months, Dominic. Knocking on his door and taking what she wants for once leads to a steamy physical relationship, but there’s something different about Dominic and her heart becomes hopelessly entangled lightening fast.

Dominic was biding his time to ask Gwen out when his best friend, Mac swooped in and stole his thunder. Dominic knew Mac was dating Gwen more to move on after the love of his life, Ava couldn’t commit. When Ava finally got her head straight and realized she was going to lose Mac forever Gwen ended up being collateral damage, but Dominic couldn’t be happier. Gwen was always the one he wanted and so he planned on making his move, but Gwen beats him to the punch and shows up tipsy and taking charge in all the best ways.

Dominic and Gwen’s romance started off hot and heavy and I loved Dominic! He was a take charge kind of guy but also showed how serious and devoted he was to Gwen right off the bat. He’d been crushing on her from afar for so long that he wanted everything to go right now that he finally got his chance with her. Unfortunately, Gwen was struggling with insecurities after a series of relationships that went bad and so this colored her reactions to Dominic even though he seemed utterly devoted to her and their growing relationship. I understand why Gwen would feel insecure. It would be hard to trust after a run of bad experiences. If that were the only issue here I would’ve liked this story a lot more, but Gwen witnesses an interaction and makes an assumption, without giving Dominic the benefit of the doubt that leads to misunderstandings and unnecessary drama. This went on for a good portion of the book. Dominic did make an effort to try and find out what was bothering Gwen, why she pulled back, but when that doesn’t work he starts taking advice from Gage, the absolute last person that should be giving relationship advice and the situation becomes even worse.

I loved the last Davers installment, Mac and Ava’s romance, so I was really looking forward to Gwen and Dominic’s story, but I wasn’t thrilled with how it all played out. I hate drama caused by miscommunications, and faulty assumptions, so while Watch Over Me started out really strong, I had to speed read through about 40% of the book because I was frustrated.

Normally I adore the Danvers series,  but something about this book completely irked me.  I was ready to DNF even at the 94% mark but thought I should be able to power through the last 6%. Thankfully I did as that was the most enjoyable part but statistically that's not a good percentage to like versus not like.

"Don't keep it from me if something should change. I can handle anything but lies."

I couldn't wait for Gwen and Dominic, as I started to read it I was liking it and thought Dominic was such an ol'softie in his big exterior, but then he turned to be just completely too soft with no hard.  Gwen, I felt for her for a smidgeon as she's had some bad luck where it comes to love, but then she started on the insecure, push away to protect myself before it happens, assume, assume and assume portion of the novel, which was basically the whole theme of the whole book which caused the book to completely go downhill for me.

"I want to take care of you, babe.  It's not a job for me, it's a privilege.  There's never been a woman who I've wanted to keep close and protect like I do you, and I'm probably going a little overboard with it.  I can't seem to help myself, though."  (Dominic started off with potential)

"I'm afraid to believe that something this good could be happening to me.  I haven't exactly had much success with my past relationships." (This notion got old fast)

I'm not suggesting you go and profess your love today . . . but stop acting as if someone is holding a stopwatch over your head and just enjoy getting to know Dominic.    (Good advice, maybe if she listened I would have been less annoyed)

Looking ahead and trying to avoid a relationship disaster had never helped her before, so trying to live for the day might be worth a shot.  (Good idea, if only she listened to her own advice)

"Maybe they were joking, Gwen.  You know how men can be sometimes.  I wouldn't put too much stock in a conversation you probably only caught pieces of."   (Agree, and if only she listened to that advice as well.)

" . . . I do think that you two have some serious miscommunication going on and a part of it is probably your listening to advice from everyone else instead of just figuring shit out on your own like you normally would."

Agree with the last quote, but sadly this recurring assumption & miscommunication plot ruined it for me because it was basically the WHOLE book with a whole bunch of sex thrown in.  I'm so bummed about this book since I have enjoyed all the rest of them so much.  But sometimes they can't all be winners.  Even though this one wasn't my favorite, it will no way hinder me from reading more from this series.  Especially, since I need to read about Mark and Crystal.

I really liked this book in the Danvers series. It had a lot of heart. And I laughed so many times. Megan & Maddy were just too funny. I also really liked seeing the romance develop between Gwen and Dominic. Bring on the next one. Based on the excerpt in the back it looks promising.

This book was really funny. Dominic being the romantic one really had my heart. I can say that this book also kept my cracking up with Megan & Maddie. The things that came from their mouth would make any parent want to duck and find the nearest wall to hide behind. All-in-all I enjoyed it

This book was awesome.....great job Sydney Landon. I would love to know where the authors get the ideas for some of their characters because some of the characters in this book were off the charts funny. Gwen is down on love because she can't seem to keep a man long enough to get a relationship off the ground. Dominic fell for Gwen at first sight & seeing her around their apartment complex & the office building they both work in has him all tied up. She was dating his best friend until he got together with the love of his life now Dominic can make his move but when? On her birthday Gwen goes out with her girlfriends & gets drunk & when she gets home she gets the nerve to knock on Dominic's door. What happens after that is magic for both until there's a little mishap with a condom. Finding his chance to show Gwen how caring & loving he can be, Dominic makes it a point to care for Gwen until they know for sure. During this time he's put to the test with 2 little girls that would give Little Johnny a run for his money. Their potty mouths & antics are hilarious(to the point of pee your pants funny) & they give Dominic a crash course on kids. Trouble erupts when different peoples ideas of who should do what get Gwen & Dominic on a road to confusion & misunderstandings. I loved how there was a second story start part way through & hope that there might be a novella for Gage & Shannon & the adventures of her 2 little girls Megan & Maddy. I also loved how the book was ended on such a hilarious moment with Megan embarrassing her mother & friends at the school performance that Maddy is in(no speaking part.....too bad would've loved to see the misadventures there). I really think that a book just about these 2 little girls would be awesome as well.

Gwen and Mac have been dating for a while and their relationship has yet to get past 2nd base. Gwen is getting fed up with Mac's lack of interest in sex with her. Mac has had a thing since childhood for Ana though Ana is seeing someone else but when that relationship falls apart Mac drops Gwen like a hot potato and pursues Ana and marries her in a couple of short months. Dominic and Mac roommates, Dominic has been crushing on Gwen for as long as Mac has been dating her. Gwen has been watching Dominic from a distance for sometime and after one night out with her friends and a few too many drinks she shows up at Dominic's door and throws herself at him. She demands sex and he is only to happy to cooperate. Their attraction is mutual and things are going better than good until they have an accident and then Dominic starts taking advice from his buddies which leads to misunderstandings and hurt feelings. This book was filled with lots of romance, was well written and hard to put down. I love Sydney Landon's work and this book was another fine read.

I did enjoy this story, it had some really funny moments, especially when Gage was around and Shannon's daughters Megan & Maddy were hilarious too, plus it had some hot moments between Gwen and Dominic which I really enjoyed, however I did get a bit frustrated with them at times, especially when they sought out there friends opinions or jumped to conclusions about each other rather than talking things out. Even though it made the overall story more realistic, it did start to bug me!! but I was glad it worked out in the end and I would happily recommend this story, and series to other. Although this one could easily be read as a standalone, as there is little interaction with the characters from previous stories and when they did meet, all relationships were explained, so you would not feel like your missing out at any point.

This book also featured a little teaser of the next story, which certainly had me intrigued and i will definitely be looking forward to its release next year.

Full review to come at www.bookcrack.com. 4 STARS for Smexy, 3.75 for Love it or Leave it?

This was my first Sydney Landon romance (Jess at Bc reviews and recommended series), but I was able to jump in mid-series and enjoy. Kudos to Landon for that! Liked Gwen, and Dom was a fun, alpha hero I could get on board with easily. To a newcomer it was insta-lust but apparently this was brewing a while and Gwen had just suffered a humiliating break up in book 6, so I was rooting for her.

Fans of the Danvers series will enjoy getting caught up w/a large cast of well rounded characters and the H/h were enjoyable amidst a "surprise" plot element that was a bit on again/off again and a hero that I did enjoy, but his intense desire for there to really be *spoiler* plot element kinda threw me a bit.

Had I read entire series I think I might have enjoyed the storyline more and fans are sure to love!

I'm a big fan of Danvers series and I don't know I completely forgot Gwen was in the last book lol. So it was a pleasant surprise when I saw she was the heroine. The whole gang is in this book and it was great to see them. The familiarity with the characters is there, banter was free flowing and so were the hilarious antics. I did feel like if you hadn't read the previous books you would miss out on how everything fits together.
Gwen and Dom have a fast-moving romance. While I like insta-love, Dom was sometimes skirting that line of too soon/overbearing.

I also loved the side romance that happened, it was awesome! All in all, a good edition to the series and I can't wait for the next one.

I really liked the first couple of books in this series, but then the books just devolved. I've continued reading the series because of my fondness of those first books, but each time, I wonder why I continue. BUT this book is back to the fun of the first few books! I really liked this one. Granted, I felt the ending could have used a bit of finessing, but the rest of the book is so strong, I will forgive that.

I admittedly skimmed a few parts of this book, because I just couldn't handle the cheesiness. I love a happy ending, but there was zero conflict in this book and the characters were waaayyy to perfect to be real. Just bland and dull all around.

It was ok. I was actually enjoying the story until we hit the forced, romantic angst portion. No communication, assumptions, misunderstandings, meh. Ended up just being an ok read.

Ugh, this book was so disappointing and that just makes me really sad. I was so looking forward to Dominic's story because he was such a great character in the last book and I loved everything about the sexy, funny and tough guy. I even liked that he was a softie in the beginning of this one and that he was so caring and devoted to Gwen.

What I hated was Gwen. She started out as a great character for me. I was rooting for her after the whole Mac debacle and wanted to see her find her HEA. I was still fine with her after her semi-drunken encounter with Dominic. What really made me dislike her was when she started assuming and misunderstanding every little thing that was happening with Dominic. She made assumptions about his feelings, misheard conversations he had with Gage, read and deleted texts on his phone, etc. It was just never-ending mistrust on her part. I honestly didn't think Dominic ever really did anything to show her that he wasn't totally devoted to her. Yes, there were a couple times where he was an idiot (like taking advice from Gage), but he never flat out did anything to show her that he didn't want her. She was just one very annoying character and ruined the book for me.

As mentioned before, I liked that Dominic was such a loving and devoted guy, but he kind of became too soft in this one. Where was the tough alpha guy we expected to see? He completely disappeared when he got around Gwen.

The ending was sweet, I'll give it that, but it didn't make up for the complete mess of the rest of the book.

I didn't like this book if it isn't obvious. Poor Dominic...now you are stuck with Gwen forever...
Gwen was just horrible. Seriously even insecurities don't have that much insecurities like this girl. And when she goes on and on about being jilted. You weren't and she didn't even liked the guy. She was ogling Dominic...And don't get me started with the whole Kandi thing and eavesdropping a part of an conversation.

Ok, so Dominic and Gwen. There is definitely chemistry and the way they connect at the beginning was the best part of the book. From that point on, the book became so boring. There was no reason to keep reading. The only conflict was regarding whether or not she was pregnant, which just wasn't enough to keep me reading.

These are some truly awful obnoxious women. Hateful, lying sneaky types that reinforce every stereotype about women being vultures. I read the first few in the series when they first came out. Listening to this a few years later thinking it would be fine and boy was I wrong. Sorry I wasted my time.

Landon’s storytelling takes the reader on a trip of healing. In general people are haunted by their past of “what ifs”. Searching for truth is what takes protagonist Mila to look for a new home. But Mila had no idea that the place is haunted by her past. Emotions surfaced that kept my attention.

Watch Over Me by Sydney Landon
Dominic & Gwen
THE BEST ONE YET!

Just when you think the Danvers series can't get any better, Sydney puts out a new brilliant book. This one seemed even more edgy and racy than any of it's predecessors. Normally I would categorize the Danvers into the Contemporary Romance genre, sometimes even Suspense, but holy hell, this one could easily be looped in the Erotic genre also! Oh. So. Damn. Hot.

Dominic has been on my radar for quite some time. I don't know exactly when I started drooling over him, but who cares, he's here now and I'm all worked up! He's always been a major alpha presence in the books, but this time it's his turn to shine and shine he does. He's been hot for Gwen since the last book, and all but gave up on his fixation with her until she shows up at his apartment one night a little tipsy and ready to break the seal between them. Whoa, what a night! I think I'm joining the Senior Swingers just so I can gawk at Dom shirtless and all wet!!!

Gwen and her J.Lo butt are my fave! Oh yeah, Dom calls it the Holy Grail! She's a no nonsense kind of girl and her track record with men is not so good. She's a Senior Accountant at Danver International... she doesn't work a pole for a living, although, with that ass, she probably could! She's been broken up with over a text message before and most men get married to someone else after dating her. She's convinced she's a course that men need to take before marriage. LOL. Gwen has also been eyeing up Dom for a while now, but until she had a bit of liquid courage, she would just peak at him through her blinds! After their one night of pure, hot, steamy sex she's in for the ride of her life. Hold on Gwen, it may be a rough journey babe!

The supporting character cast in this book is huge. Gwen's BFF's, Mia and Crystal are amazeballs! These two always had her back and mostly gave good advise! I especially loved the cameos from all the rest of the girls from earlier books. Suzy, Ava, Ella, Beth, and Claire are too damn funny at the lunch date... I love the girl talk between them. Sometimes I think they're more crude than some men. Now Gage is the "Mouth-of-the-South" and I simply love this guy! He's funny yet sincere and he's also hot as hell! Gwen's sister Wendy is too funny... she won't swear so she comes up with some doozys... Shoot-head was my fave! Shannon, Dom and Gwen's neighbor has her hands full with her two monsters Megan & Maddy. Those two little whips are so damn funny with their penis and vagina banter!

So, to sum this up, Watch Over Me was fanfuckingtastic. It had so much grit and menacing dialogue that I could not put it down. Read it in one day! I firmly believe that this is the best Danvers Novel yet! It's gripping and compelling from cover to cover and will keep you enthralled till you read the words "the end." It's not a dark read, but yet a steamy emotional read! Get your beer, chocolate, and tissues ready... you're gonna need it!!

Wonderful. Again

Anyone else want to head to Myrtle Beach? Thanks to Sydney Landon's Watch Over Me, another drop-dead gorgeous hottie has just been happily snagged by his perfect match. Doesn't mean I don't want to head there with a high-tech camera.

Dominic Brady. There hasn't been one man since Weekends Required that hasn't captured my heart, and okay, done a little more than that. This ex-Military, delectable specimen with talented fingers loves. Loves his family. Loves to cook. Loves his job. Loves his workouts - thanks for those visuals. Most importantly, loves Gwen Day, spoiling her deliciously with his complete attention, his kind gentleness, his attentive thoughtfulness, and of course, with his stunning, hot bod. Oh and did I mention he rides a Harley?

Gwen Day's relationship history had left her lacking both confidence in her desirability, and extremely low long-term love life expectations. Until sexy Dominic. Emboldened by his never-ceasing desire for her body, and his sincere thoughtfulness, she slowly gains the belief she might have found 'the one'. She might be worth the effort. Effortlessly beautiful, sensual, funny, and highly intelligent, Gwen is a heroine worth her story though. Her self-doubt wasn't a distraction, but rather identifiable and easy to empathize with. She was understandably wobbly after one of Dominic's many endearing sentiments. I think I was too after this one.

"If I didn't make you come, the experience would fall flat for me. I need your orgasms more than I need my own, and I'd never stop until that happened." And we all say Amen.

Let it be said that a man desperate for a relationship with the woman he's admired from afar for months, should never seek advice from his best friend...his single, sleep-and-leave-them friend at that. The result? Miscommunication City.

What happens throughout Watch Over Me may have been a tad predictable, will cause a few giggles, and sighs of frustration - men - will definitely offer decadent sensual delight, resulting in a captivating and compelling read. This is the go grab your most comfy seat and settle in to be entertained read. As are all of Sydney Landon's exceptional stories.

Not all writers can create a multi-book series and manage to maintain connection to not only the original characters, but the ensuing heroes and heroines as well. In Watch Over Me, readers are provided welcome tasty morsels on their past main characters. Their stories are gently interwoven into the blanket of Dominic and Gwen's tumultuous journey to love.

A wonderful read. So much so I read it twice. Looking forward to Crystal's story next.

Another fantastic book by Sydney Landon. She did a phenominal job and now I have to wait for the next one already. Boo, but in the meantime let me tell you a little about why this was such a fabulous book.

Gwen had the unfortuante timing of being someone's rebound or in her case, make someone jealous relationship. She's still reeling from that a little bit when she decides she's going to chuck all her self-preservation out the door and make her hot as hell neighbor, her hot as hell one night stand. What could go wrong? So what if she secretly watched him go for his runs (oops I've said too much) while she was dating his friend and co-worker. I mean really, one would have to be dead not to notice his smokin body. Now that she had her fun, she can go on her way back to self-loathing land and her neighborly babysitting duties. Or can she?

What will it take for Dominic to convince Gwen that they are good together? A night of babysitting two hellions in little girls bodies or will it take him trying to prove to her body that he was made for her. He wants it all and even though he has had his eye on her for a long time, it might just take more than that to convince Gwen he has a true thing for her and not just great sex?

So slap my knee, laugh out loud hilarious and hot as hell! In other series that have more than 5 or 6 books in them have lost my interest, but not Danvers. I keep waiting for more and more and again Sydney Landon did not disappoint. This book had me rolling on the floor laughing to the point that I was crying (babysitting), but it also had me wanting to strangle Gwen at one point for not believing someone like Dom could like her. She's intelligent, funny and beautiful (from what I read) and Dom sees all that and more. Just when you think you have a grip on the storyline, a twist happens and your left wondering if things really will turn out they way we want them to.

The writing is flawless, the story will capture your heart, and the love that comes through the characters is so tangible, Sydney can makes even the coldest of hearts melt just by reading what she has to say. Her charactes are well developed and she makes sure that the characters from previous stories make an appearence. Be prepared to take a rollarcoaster ride and my only advice is to hang on tight and ENJOY the ride!

Watch Over Me, Danvers #7, by Sydney Landon
Grade: B+

Dominic Brady has always had a crush on his neighbor Gwen but she’s been off limits since his best frined got to her first. What Dominic never expected was to have Gwen knock on his door and become every fantasy he ever had with her come true. One night with Gwen isn’t enough and Dominic is stepping up to the plate to make sure he doesn’t lose out on her again and he will stop at nothing to make her his.

Gwen Day hasn’t been lucky in the male department and is pretty upset when she finds out her ex married the woman he left her for. Determined to have some she lets loose with her girls and wakes up in her sexy neighbors bed. Dominic is not at all what Gwen expected and she can’t help but wonder if he’s with her because he wants to be or because he feels he has too.

Sydney Landon can do no wrong with this series and I devour each book when it comes out! I had such high expectations for Dominic and Gwen’s story and I am so happy to report that this book did not disappoint at all, in fact it went above and beyond. Gwen and Dominic do not mess around and there was a lot of very sexy and steamy moments right from the beginning that had me turning the pages very quickly. I loved how the story sucks you right in and it made it impossible to put down even well into the night (and early morning).

We met both Gwen and Dominic in Always Loving You and I liked them both a lot in that book. Dominic is a sexy badass but he turns out to be such a sweetheart and I love how he doted on Gwen. I wasn’t so sure how I was going to feel about Gwen but she turned out to be my favorite Danver’s heroine since Suzy. These two were perfect together and made the book so fun to read. They still have their moments of ups and downs but I enjoyed them even when they were fighting.

We get to see all of our lovely ladies from previous books and spend some time catching up with them as well as get treated to a little side romance. I thought this book was amazing from start to finish and in my top three favorites of the series. I definitely recommend this book and series to all lovers of contemporary romance.

I'm starting to feel like a broken record, but yet again the Danvers bring to me to my knees. This time though, we swing slightly left field and into the world of East Coast security and the 3 alphas who own it. We had met McKinley (Mac) during Always Loving You, and now it is Dominic's turn.

Dom has had a crush for the girl next door for months, but when best Friend Mac started seeing her he knew he had to let it go, that was until his previous love wanted him back. So he hatched a plan with Ava, to get her man back leaving him to connect with Gwen. So weeks later after a rush trip to Las Vegas for Mac and Ava's wedding, and killer jet lag a knock on his door has his to drunk neighbor litterally throwing herself at him. Questioning Hwen, he gets the answer he was hoping for, with a pleading for Dom to take her.

Gwen Day had noticed her neighbor many times but never had the guts to persue him, until one night, blind drunk for her birthday, she finds herself at his door step. Surprised he doesn't turn her away instead the pair share an incredible night together, having more sex than either can stand. This little marathon brings on more questions than answers. Dom is taken by Gwen, and next day declares she is his babe, having no issues showing anyone who cares to look how he affects her. Public affection doesn't bother him one bit.

The shy Gwen that we met previously, knows that she doesn't have that perfect body, and her abundance of booty doesn't help either. Knowing that their time together is just mind blowing sex, she chooses not to acknowledge the feelings she harbors for Dominic. But whrn their one night stand turns into a possible pregnancy scare, they must face the next weeks to find out if parenting is in the forecast too.

It was nice to see Gwen as a smart, young woman instead of the man stealer she was made out to be in the Ava, Mac, Gwen love triangle. I enjoyed her and Dom's roller coaster ride in yet another great read.
