Nicole thought she'd hit rock bottom. Then she fell for Jamison Carter.
The charming dealer promised her the world—designer clothes, a luxury apartment, and a way out of the strip club. But behind closed doors, the fairytale turned into a nightmare.
When Nicole witnesses something she shouldn't, she becomes a target. Running for her life, she stumbles into an abandoned art museum—and into the arms of three gargoyles.
Gabriel. Sebastian. Cole.
Stone by day. Predators by night. And they'll burn the city down to protect what's theirs.
Nicole never believed in monsters. Now she's claimed by three of them.
The idea was intriguing the execution was just okay. We spent FAR too much time with Jamison like sorry the romance the eroticism didn’t really show up until 75% and left us rushing to the end to wrap it up nicely. I didn’t enjoy this, the writing was good but the pacing was slightly off. A lot of traumatizing situations for us to end with a threesome and a happy ending but what happened to the guy paid to commit that crime? What’s to come of Leo’s family ? Like all this betrayal and we just left to believe he solved it all?
Now, this is not my first time reading something by Ms. Melody but I just didn’t care for the story line. I feel like the story focused too much on Jamison, and we didn’t meet the gargoyles till 50% of the story and I thought they were the main focus of the story. And I didnt care for everything Nicole had to go through with Jamison before she started being “rescued”. This story was more so the FMC going through hell and back before she got her happy ending.
This had so much potential. There were too many details that had nothing to do with anything. What was the point of the drama with Brooklyn & Terrance? What was the point of Ari's monologue? What was the point of the story about the queen from the past? Why ask about why Bennett was killed if they weren't gonna do anything with the info? This also spent too much time on the build up to her leaving but not enough time on journey of their relationship. This felt like it was written much longer but was poorly chopped up to make it a novella. This author is hit or miss so I'll keep trying until either the hits keep coming or I experience that miss that makes me give up.
This book had a great start but it spent way to much time on her being with Jameson also wayyy to much trauma she had a horrible child hood then a horrible relationship which both involved abuse. I didn’t feel the connection between her and the gargoyles like I had to push to finish this book. She doesn’t get with them until the 70% mark
I really wanted to liked this but between the typos(gargoyles were mixed up towards the end)and the shallow characters’ personalities , I’m just shocked I was able to finish it. We also barely get any clear explanation about how gargoyles came into this world
I have never loathed the victim and villains with near as much equal measure before. So much unnecessary trauma and pain for what? I’m looking forward to forgetting this book immediately.
This was a great short read. The story pulled me in quickly, and I enjoyed Nicole's journey... she's been through so much, survived so much, and you can't help but root for her.
I did find myself wanting more of the gargoyles and the world Nicole stepped into, and a little less focus on Jamison. There's so much potential there, especially with the dynamic between her and the Stone men, and that I would absolutely love to see this expanding into a longer story.
Nicole's growth is something I'm especially interested in. You can't be the caretaker of beings that powerful without becoming a force yourself, and I'd love to see her step fully into that. Give me book two!
The ending was so satisfying, and now I'm definitely curious about that mystery person… I need answers. It was also nice returning to Mack's, and always, Melody does a great job keeping her characters relatable. Even if you don't see yourself in them, you've definitely met someone like them.
Overall, this was a solid, enjoyable read with a lot of potential to grow into something even bigger..
Initially, I was on the verge of abandoning this book, but I'm immensely grateful I persevered. The narrative began beautifully, yet intermittent shadows of self-doubt and inner darkness threatened to obscure my perspective. Despite feeling unsettled, the protagonist's profound curiosity and unwavering spirit ultimately guided her toward a path of redemption. Her journey resonated deeply with me, renewing my resolve to continue reading until the final page. I am truly glad I did not surrender to my initial hesitation, as the book's conclusion proved to be immensely rewarding. ReneeG
This was addictive and I need more!!! I really didn’t know what to think but baby those three guardian gargoyles completely stole my attention.!! The protectiveness? The tension? The way they treated her like she was the most important thing in their world? I ate it up.!!!
It did pack some surprising emotional punches. So check those trigger warnings. I just wish it had been longer because I was not ready to leave them behind. If you love possessive, protective energy with a paranormal twist, this one is definitely worth the read.
This books pulls you in from the first 3 pages the storyline is really good it doesn’t read like a paranormal until midway and the way they were introduced into the story was different…Nicole has been through so much then Jamison switched up in her mentally & physically then she touches her guardians who give her something she never had protection
3.5 ⭐️… I am new to the genre but i did enjoy this book from beginning to end. The FMC Nicole had a rough life and meets her knight in shining armor except he’s not that at all! He’s the devil . But one day she comes across these Gargoyles and they save her and that’s where the beauty of the story really begins. Loved the story i just felt it ended abruptly .
This was a really good read. Made me think about how their are people out there whom has real lives like this and can not get away. But Nicole did 👏🏾and she had three gargoyles that would protect her from not just her ex Jamison crazy self, but who ever tried to harm her.
This I was not expecting it was good, I even closed my eyes for a minute seemed I was watching something on tv. Actually this wasn’t just different it was a totally surprise for me, because I felt so many emotions reading this story. But mostly everybody wants to be loved. I can see myself reading this again
So I’m kinda new to melody I’ve read a couple of her books. This was sooo good I didn’t want it to end. It made me feel all warm and fuzzy lol. I would def recommend everyone give it a try. I’m gonna go and read more of her work now
An abused dancer gets caught in the middle of her abuser & the supernatural creatures that she didn't know exist. Does she finally find the love that she craves or will she run from it?
So glad that Nicole finally got the love and protection she deserved. Cole, Gabriel and Sebastian felt they were not worthy but they were accepted and loved too. I loved this story, it was different, but I enjoyed it!
I’m glad I was listening to the book while reading. There was about 2-4 more paragraphs at the end that aren’t written. Over all this was a great supernatural romance book.
I could sit here and tell you what the book about but then you wouldn’t read it. I will tell you that you will not be wasting your time. so grab the book download it to your phone whatever device you use to read because this is definitely a book you’re going to read again
Wow! The plot and characters are explosive!!! Please look at the TW. They are very much needed. However knowing love concurs all was outstanding. Melody you have to make this into a couple of more books!!
I really enjoyed Nicole’s character development—she felt layered and interesting, especially for a short story. Overall, this was a solid paranormal romance read with an engaging premise.
That said, I wish less time had been spent on her journey with Jamison and more on her connection with the Stone men. Their relationships felt rushed, and the progression between all three moved so quickly that the storyline started to feel jumpy toward the end. I found myself a little lost as everything wrapped up.
Even with that, if you enjoy short paranormal romance stories with strong character focus, this is still worth giving a try.
