Stephen Harper: The Arrogant Autocrat Who Has Been Ruining the Country That We Love

Rate this book
How did a diverse, progressive country like Canada end up with a far-right, ultra-conservative prime minister who, to quote the author, “has launched an all-out assault on our democracy and who is—as quickly as possible—dismantling many things that we, Canadians, hold dear?”

Point by point, best-selling political writer and Canadian nationalist Mel Hurtig names Stephen Harper’s his war on the environment and on science; his use of the Canada Revenue Agency to disrupt and control the work of Canadian charities, especially those working on issues like climate change, poverty and human rights; how policies that affect the distribution of income and wealth are unfair, unequal, unjust, undemocratic; and how Canada’s dysfunctional Electoral system got the country in this mess.
