One hot werewolf. One determined ghost. And a witch with a choice...
A werewolf and a ghost both threaten to be Cassie’s undoing. While one is all hot and spice, the other is cold and ice. The werewolf and ghost couldn’t be more different if they tried. The one thing they shared was each stealing a piece of Cassie’s heart.
Her best friend, Matt, might be a ghost, but she never had to guess where she stood with him. When she meets the hunky werewolf, Cole, he throws her world into a tailspin. With her thoughts consumed by Matt, she tries to remain open to her feelings for Cole, wanting desperately to have a normal life, as normal as a psychic witch can have.
Cole hasn’t told Cassie his dark secret, that he’s a werewolf. He hasn’t had a steady relationship in over a year, but with Cassie things just seem to fall into place. He’s drawn to her unlike any other woman and he wonders if she could be his destined mate. Will Cassie be able to handle the truth? Or will the fact that he turns furry turn her off...
But with ghosts popping up here and there and a friend bent on causing trouble, can Cassie and Cole have a real shot at a relationship? Or will their budding romance be torn apart before it can really get started?
Cassie has a choice to make. Will she choose the hottest werewolf of all, or the ghost of her dreams?

This was a surprisingly good paranormal read. It wasn't strictly a shifter book, in fact, it was minor compared to the other paranormal elements that moved the story along. I liked watching the main character develop as the book progressed. There was a HEA, although a little unrealistic, but sweet. The next book is told by another character, but I hope we get some resolution to this storyline. Five glittery stars!
This felt like a first story from a very young author. There were so many unlikely things created just to force plot that I really had to work just to finish it. These college kids/adults go to some kind of summer camp for grown ups. Apparently each person has to have their own bedroom so the h is forced to stay in a cabin with three unknown guys because there were no three bedroom cabins left. The h’s best friend inexplicably turns into her nemesis. This is all in the first chapter. I think with experience and a good editor there is some potential for this author. But by the fifth or sixth chapter of this book I found myself skimming.
I really had to push to finish this book. If it hadn't been an audiobook, I would have skimmed through till the end, but I was stuck having to listen. The only reason that I read the whole book was to find out the relevance of a very long description of a dream/vision that Cassie had (further spoiler: not too much). There were some parts that were overly detailed (like descriptions of showering, brushing teeth, make-up, signing papers etc.). There were other parts that made me cringe or roll my eyes.
Three women go on a girls' getaway and never spend any time alone together. Cassie meets Cole and it seems to be insta love between them; they have to stand up to one of Cassie's friends and one of Cole's brothers to make their relationship work. There is no compelling reason given why the friend turns on Cassie. It's just to create drama. Then when it looks like Cole and Cassie may have an HEA, Matt walks in on them in the middle of hanky panky, Cassie goes off with him, and there are no recriminations, no fighting, no ill will from Cole. I will refrain from saying more about the plot. It's possible that some of my irritation is due to the narrator, for some mispronunciations and her narration style/voice in general. This book gets two stars because it's the author's first publication. The good news is that the author's books improve over time.

Cassie is a psychic in Ashton Grove whose best friend happens to be a hot ghost, Matt! While on a trip with girlfriends, she meets Cole. Who also happens to be a hot werewolf. Poor Cassie! What should she do? Well, you should read the book to get all the answers.
Shape shifter/Paranormal books are usually not my thing, but it’s growing on me as a genre. I like the fast paced nature of this book. How many times do you get bored because an author belabors a point over and over. Not this author! She gets to the point! Love this story.
Love Love this paranormal book from author Jessica Coulter Smith. The way she write and connect us to her books are beyond amazing. I'm always finding new ways she surprises us readers in her books, and with these characters she did exactly that, characters are amazingly well connected physically and emotionally, they make you feel happy and sad but mostly happy, this is a great job well done.
The villain so far is supposedly Cassie's best friend, but what she really is is a villainized sexual woman. Reinforcing the idea that all women, outside of the virginal, are threats, enemies and competitors for a man's attention. I cannot stress how much I HATE this trope in books. But I was determined to soldier on. But when the hero's brother sexually assaulted the heroine and no one did anything more than chastise him, I decided to just quite before it can get worse.
I was expecting to read that the werewolf found his mate. But wow...I got whiplash from the unexpected turn of events. This story is very unusual. Never read anything like it. I was intrigued and taking for a rollercoaster ride throughout the story. Loved the main characters, hated some of the side characters. Got me emotionally involved. Great book.
First let me start by saying that I enjoy paranormal stories, this was definitely a good story. It was an intriguing, interesting, and sensual journey to go on with Cassie and Matt. I enjoyed this book.
Cassie a shy young woman who can see ghost goes on vacation with her two best friends to have her life change forever.
Coming to Whispering Lake to get away from her problems; Cassie ends up rooming with three brothers she has never met before. She ends up with an immediate attraction to one of the brothers, Cole. Their relationship seemed to be going well; even though they have had some struggles with angry friends and brothers who have spells put on them. That is until Matt shows up. Cassie has been in love with Matt for a while now, whether she knows it or not. The biggest problem with Cassie and Matt having a relationship is that Matt is a ghost. But with a little help from someone who cares for Cassie that might change.
Filled with secrets, spells, fights, jealousy, love lost and love won this book is a very entertaining and roller coaster of emotion kind of book. Its a must read if you like fantasy romance. It is a real page turner.
Who would've thought that once a ghost turned human would be your soul mate. This books was interesting from the start. It shows jealousy can come from your BFF and leave you shocked and amazed. 4 hot men and 3 women is bound to have a lo e connection somewhere. Cassie learns to see herself as beautiful and sensual once their are some willing bodies ready to take it to the next level. There are three friends bound to each other by their amazing gifts that they keep a special secret. Also, lets not forget all the first time sexual experience for Cassie who gets pregnant by the love of her life who was once a ghost. Very good book with a few twists and turns.
I liked the story and the players in the book. It was interesting how she brought in ghosts, werewolves and witches in a calm, peaceful story. It did seem to go slow in places and then it would pick up pace again. I look forward to reading the next book and hope Cole finds his mate.
It's short but it's well-written and the characters are very believable. There are Wiccans and witches and werewolves and ghosts....and a sweet romance weaving through the book. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and would recommend it to people who like the paranormal with touches of romance. Can't wait to read the next book.
This is a very good book. It has friendships, mystery, magic, werewolves, ghosts, witches and in the end love. The story line is good and the characters strong. I love a happy a happy ending which this book has so grab it and enjoy.
